Devs...any chance that this could work for us or be modified to work for us? This is from the Atrix HD forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815639
I'm no developer, but i don't see why it wouldn't work. But here's what you got to understand, the hd's bootloader is locked also. All they are doing its flashing stock kernels back and forth.
Which wouldn't do us much good seeing as how we only have one ics kernel right now.

Note: official XXJVS 2.3.5 version of gingerbread was released for I9000 on September 11, 2011. CWM flashable deodexed version has been posted in the Vibrant forum (see link.) Candidate for porting to 4g? I've downloaded it and I'm looking at it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258224
Just an fyi for those that may be unaware. DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR SGS4G!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
no of course not, it has to be PORTED to 4g first. I figured everyone knew that you can't flash raw Vibrant roms to the 4g because we don't have an internal SD card. But someone has already taken care of the button mappings by porting it to Vibrant.
It's also an almost stock rom with no fancy additions, just gingerbread 2.3.5. Maybe Samsung will issue this for 4g soon but if not, a PORTED version might be a nice base for new custom roms.
I would never do such a thing, but reading through the brick threads, others have tried and will try to flash a non t959v ROM.

Yes i seen it happen to people thinking because they look the same they are the same..completely diffirent

Yeah and not just Vibrant roms either, if I remember right. This is just a heads up in case anyone wants to try to modify the rom or mine it for possible apps, or something.
I decompiled framework.jar and took a look at it, but here is the interesting problem about trying to port this rom. It's 2.3.5 gingerbread and we don't have a 2.3.5 kernel or modem for the 4g so we'd have to use a kernel and modem from gingerbread 2.3.4. So would that not work? I don't know. We haven't seen any gingerbread leaks from Samsung for a while and this rom was leaked for the I9000 on September 11th so do you suppose there may be a 2.3.5 rom coming out for the 4g?
I ported this using the gb kernels and got stuck on the boot animation screen. I'm going to probably work on it after I'm done with 2.3.5 miui port and release it.

EDIT
Went to the website that twitter account links to. Found this:

Looks like Samsung beat us to it. I was wondering if they might. And I picked today to leave my phone at home.
Great news. Thanks for all the info

Hello All,
I'm actually still quite new to this phone (just got it two days ago), so whatever I may have to contribute is probably not as significant as the rest of the dev's.
I realized we don't have a stock-rooted rom, so here it is:
The DS_Mod is based on the TMo's 1.28.531.9 zip, and everything has basically kept untouched except for the few following:
1. Rooted (Added su and such)
2. Added Rom Manager and Terminal Emulator
3. Removed security threat stemming from the xxxLogger.apk's
4. Added init.d and data/app support for anyone else who wants to add something else to it
This rom is designed for the people who wanted the stock experience and still have root, so here it is: Download link
Report back if there's any bugs/issues!
saving this spot for any later uses

[email protected] actually gave us a stock rooted, de-odexed ROM about 3 months ago, granted pre-security patch, but it's always nice to have another dev in the game I suppose!

Yup. Pure stock. I'd like to keep it as stock as possible for this rom (granted that I still made some modifications to it...)

Yeeahh, that's the kind of response we need. All this immature oneupmanship just makes the boards weak. I'm loving having another dev for this phone even though the ones we already have are great!
Good to see someone else throwing their hat into the ring. I'll download and play with this sometime over the weekend.
Thanks for taking the time to put something together, look forward to seeing more of your works.
Going to add to the sticky later and some edits as well.

Just bought a used skyrocket only problem is the battery door got Lil scratches (already order new one on eBay for 5 bucks) but got it for a sweet 200! So people its already rooted (he said he used super one click) stock recovery and on 2.3.6 is it hard to install roms on here and any good ones?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
All the roms are good and their not very hard to install. Make sure you do your fair share of reading. All the info you need are in these forums. Look at the sticky threads in each section. Good luck

Looking good!
im using skymod 5.1. uses Apex launcher and is fairly stable...thing is you never know with ROMs based on leaked code if it's the dev or just bugged ICS code.
ill i really want is an experience that's just pure Android, no UI BS...just pure. I miss my Nexus One for that exact reason.
Here's all the ROMS for skyrocket: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383464
I'm running ICS RC7.4 Speed though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377087
Yes so many ICS roms yet they ain't stable for DD right? Also feel so dumb and totally forgot the the rocket has nfc. So far reading no ics rom has that working correct? I'm assuming that one we get a official release of ICS then nfc should work?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
1) nfc works
2) many people use it as a dd, no fcs or instabilities, just a few tiny bugs, that may or may not annoy (shutdown/reboot anyone?)

As well as the ROMS this "all in one location" helped me it links how to Root (different methods) one click works best for me, talks about kernals, ODIN return to stock, and much more.
As always READ READ READ. I read for about 2 months. Was rooted, downloaded an app that borked my modem. Knew exactly where to go to return to stock......
OK have to look at it ICS some more just loving alien#6 to much with faux kernel!
But anybody recommended a ICS that's pretty stable and has nfc working?

Started with NexusMod 4 and quickly went to NexusMod ICS Slim. This ROM blazes on the latest ICS leak and the developer is quick on updates and support. I personally use it as a Daily Driver with very few hiccups.

I got my s2 last week and installed ICS yesterday. It's amazing how much my phone improved. Here's the link with easy instructions to download:

OK is anyway to change restrictions on changing apn. I need mms and it won't work cause it keep saying " ics does not allow write apn changes

Currently on SKY ICS UCLD2 by seanzscreams.
It's pretty good but read and reread the instructions he posted when installing this ROM.
I believe the ics superlite by mhx is a simpler install.

are u using a third party program from the market to enter the apns? If so that's y. Enter them manually. Settings > more > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. Then hit menu button

I've done that I can receive mms but can't send mms. So I'm stuck on GB until then

903tex, did you download the Red Pocket configurator from the market? I thought that sets up the apn for you, maybe not w/ ICS.
Well after being on ios for 2 years its safe to say im new to the rooting scene on android. Regardless i am rooted and am running the latest synergy rom on my vzw gs3. I understand boot animations dont usually work on my device. How could i go about getting them to work. The developer told me it is possible to get them working. Thanks in advance!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
On stock, it's not exactly a breeze. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1829363
I am using synergy 1.2? Whatever the latest version of the rom is thats what im on.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Synergy is based on stock and as such is subject to the same restricitions in this case. See the thread I linked.
Oh ok. I'll give you a thanks when i get on my desktop. Idk how to on this app. Also just for future reference are there any roms with non stock kernals? Sorry if my terminology is wrong.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
This phone hasn't had what you might call a normal development cycle. New kernels are just starting to come around since the bootloader just got unlocked. I know of one stock based kernel right now. See here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31329-kerneltouchwiz-leankernel-minimalistic-kernel-819-v022/
YOU WILL NEED TO UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER FIRST. There's an app in the market for that.
iii love keeping a razr around because I love that Webtop! Too bad IMHO the devs destroyed the design for the 4.04 webtop, which is really the main reason I keep a razr in my arsenal
Anybody ever tried fastbooting the ics firmware back to gingerbread? Would there be another way to get the old webtop...a custom gingerbread rom with working webtop?
Any experiences or ideas would be great! thanks fam:highfive:
This phone was never made for that old of software... maybe with a dev edition.. only cause the radios could not be signed being they would have to be edited

When I upgraded I didn't use the leak but flashed stock image and took OTA...there was talk by using the leak you could still bet back...but short of that you definetely can't fastboot gingerbread. :"(
a
are the any gb custom roms i could put on a safestrap boot slot that run working webtop? maybe that would be an option?
