Custom omni rom build with multi-window - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen that some galaxy devices have a home-build type OmniROM besides their usual nightlies with multi-window and the new theme engine enabled. Is anybody doing something similar for our beloved Nexus? A pretty thorough search through the threads resulted in disappointment with myself for not being knowledgeable enough to compile it myself.

the multi window is a feature of some galaxy devices, its not possible on the nexus 5. it would also need samsungs framework, which isnt open source. omni is built on open source.

Omni has their own implementation of multi window, which is not enabled by default. Check it out:

Aren't omni on v2 of multiwindow now?

I don't think the version matters that much. The point is: some galaxy devices have up-to-date builds with functional multi window (more or less, i suppose it's still very buggy) and I can't find anything similar for our device which is supposed to have a bigger community behind it.
I want to clarify that I don't take anything for granted and I am very thankful for the already great development scene. It's just a question which crossed my mind recently.

Anyone knows when it's coming out on Nexus 5? I'm pretty eager to try halo and PIE on my new phone
Or can someone teach me how to port it and I'll do so happily!

Use the Xposed Framework. There's a module that enables HALO, and if you install the Gravity Box module, you can use PIE too.
Definitely waiting for the official one.

What do you think is the better ROM to flash (of the KitKat ROMs).
Omni, CyanFox, SlimKat, or CM11?
Also, do any of the above feature Screen Recording thanks to KitKat's ability to do so, without needing ADB?
Vote in the poll on what you like as well, so I can get an idea even from those who don't want to reply.
EDIT: Meant to post in the General Section; can a mod please move this thread?

I looked at AvatarROM a while ago and it seems to be targeted toward people who want to theme thier device, whereas I like the stock vanilla Android look.

Google Camera App + Cyanogenmod11

Okay so by now everyone here should know that Google just released its Google Camera app on Play Store (gosh I guess I won't see Nexus 10 mk2 afterall)
But I have a big problem with it. I have Nexus 5 Cyanogenmod11 snapshot m5 and camera crashes on launching HDR+ every single time. I had similar problem app pulled from stock nexus 5 (can be found everywhere on the net) - it acted the same although that one needed app data wipe to even launch again. Is cyanogen missing some libraries for camera or something like that?
How can I make it work?
Is there a way to see a detailed crash log and fix the problem?
Anyone envountered similar issue?

[Q] Paranoid Android Heads UP notification for Cyanogenmod 11

I know, they both have heads up but PA has better designed heads up with gestures like swipe up to remove it but keep it in status bar. I also like that its sticked up to status bar unlike on cyanogenmod where its almost on center of the screen. My question now is, is it possible to get heads up notifications like in PA on CM 11?
In PA it's called hover.
Why not just run PA?

I'm not really here to debate, I'm just asking is it possible to get hover feature on cm 11?
And it really annoyed me on PA that it takes 3 seconds to open recent tabs menu on franco kernel and stock pa kernel, idk why. It's slow
Plus I was active PA user, but when they removed HALO it made me switch to CM

Yes it is. Set up a build environment (Linux Ubuntu or Mint), sync the CM11 sources locally, identify the Hover commits from the PA github repository, cherry-pick them, resolve any conflicts and build.

You don't need to "program". You need to know how to sync repo's, use github and build. Since this is a develoeprs forum, you're in the best place to learn.
If you're not wanting to learn, the quick answer to your original question is "no".

No idea. Have a read / ask in their thread. What are these "CM Features" that are so special?
Is it the ability to take the work of other developers and turn it into financial reward?

Most features of CM are available in other ROMs. And half of CM's features are taken from other ROMs, or is their own implementation/variation of the feature from another ROM.

[MOD] Launch any app with the screen off gestures

Introduction
LaunchAnyApp is a mod to create the option to choose which app launches when you draw one of the screen off gestures.
I made this because I never used the gestures and thought it was more useful if it launched another app. Don't think you can't use the normal action anymore, you can choose the default action.
Features:
* Choose the app or shortcut you want to launch
* Choose to enable haptic feedback per gesture
* Easy to understand
* Every gesture can launch something you want
Download

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=126640
CM-13.0:

Installation
Flash the zip with your favorite custom recovery
I am not responsible for bricked or dead devices.
Read and proceed with caution before flashing anything.
Always make a backup! Something always can go wrong.

This is a mod I originally created for the oneplus one. People requested it for other oneplus devices so here it is.
As I have no oneplus 3 to test it on I will rely on you guys for feedback and bug reports.
Hope you guys enjoy this mod and have a good day
This is brilliant it was high time we needed this. Does it really have to be CM14.1 or does it work for CM13 roms as well like BJRR?
Is this working only with CM rom? Is it working with official rom too? Currently I'm using rooted stock 3.27 rom..

In wich folder did you find the KeyHandler?
Do you have a link to the thread? I'm not sure what you are using
After trying the one for oneplus x I can confirm it works on cm13, didn't on dirty unicorn and didn't try on oos yet, but that's an awesome project, but I guess the changes are device/rom specifics?
It would be to good to have this working on any rom or device, and too much work to make one for each, I would love to help with oneplus x but this must need some dev knowledge I don't have
Anyway, thanks for this, that's awesome (I'll probably stick with cm 13 because of you lol)

Soon, kinda busy right now and probably only bug fixes unless you want a new feature (that is not adding more gestures)
New CM-14.1 build: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862684287
* After reboot gestures on/off settings are kept
* Gesture screen title is correct
Enjoy
