Exchange emails plain out don't work on my GS4 - Samsung Gear 2

So I'm always presented with 'No Emails' on the email app on the Gear 2. I verified the settings on the Gear 2 manager, and my desired email is checked. Why am I not able to see any emails at all?
I'm running a rooted stock firmware of the GS4, if that helps at all.

I assume that you are using the stock email app? If so, note that Exchange is rather limited with notifications (such was my case) and someone suggested CloudMagic-- which is AWESOME--- and I am able to actually view my emails, whereas before, I was only able to see the sender and not much more on the Gear 2.
If you are running stock email and are not interested in CloudMagic, verify that the following is checked...
- Settings> Security> Notification Access> Make sure that "Gear Manager" is checked (which should be if you are getting notifications of any sort on the Gear 2).
- Gear Manager> Notifications> Notifications for Gear> Ensure that "Email" is checked.
I feel like there's one more selection (possibly) within the Email app itself, however I cannot remember straight away.

have you tried on new firmware? I've only had the G2 Neo for 2 days, but I had a firmware install on day 1 and email has always worked fine... no photo/multimedia, but I read my exchange mail as they come in.

I figured out the issue (sorry for the delay in posting)
It does work, however I was under the impression that it'd show you all the emails you have, not just new incoming emails.

How did you get it to work. I have CloudMagic and it gives a runinng list of email titles only. No content and it is in a continuous string that does not delineate between messages. Any assist here would be great. This is only an issue for my exchange account. All other email works fine.

Mail Problem

Both my wife and I bought the Infuse yesterday. Mine is a stopgap until the Galaxy S2. We are both having issues with the native mail client.
In my case I use imap and the program does not delete my email when I tell it to, it just comes back. The mail app doesn't seem to have any delete options like k9 and others.
My wife uses the mail app for exchange, with the exception that it does not give a summary in the notification bar(like K9), she is having problems with mail being pushed to her phone. It seems to work sporadically.
I wanted to know if anyone was having any such problem.
not specifically, but i've always had problems with Samsung's email app. i was able to put an older version of a Samsung email app on the phone (the version bundled with the Firefly ROM for the captivate), but the one that came bundled with the Infuse did not work well with my exchange server. i told it to download "headers only", but when i opened a message and click "Load More Details", the body never loaded, just said "null"
also exchange related, whenever i received a message on my old captivate, the notification sound would play, but get cut off halfway through....weird. sometimes it wouldn't even make it halfway through, the sound would only play for a split second, barely noticeable, missed several messages.
Where can I get this mail app?
head over to the captivate development section, download the firefly ROM, it's a zip file, unzip it. goto /system/app and you'll find email.apk
Same problem.
Switched back to K-9 Mail instead.
If you are in the default mail client and you go to incoming server settings there is an option from delete email from server and you can choose an option like "when i delete from inbox", atleast it is for me i have pop mail though.

Deleting emails from phone while keeping them on the server.

My sister recent went from a Blackberry to a Thunderbolt. She liked how on the BB she could delete an email off her phone and still keep it on the server and wants to know if it's possible to do this on the Tbolt. She doesn't use gmail. It's a Cox Communications email account. Is it possible to do this on Android?

Stolen from another forum (original post regarded an EVO - but likely applies to all Android OS phones.

Mail accounts use one of 3 protocols: Exchange, IMAP and POP. Both Hotmail (as of a few weeks ago) and Exchange use over-the-air (Active) sync technology so when you delete a message on your phone, it's removed from the server and thus your client program as well (web/Outlook). IMAP also supports a similar 2-way update.
In order to only delete messages off your phone but not the server, you need to set up your mail accounts with POP instead. POP downloads a copy of and sends mail to/from the server -- nothing else. Hotmail supports POP but your Exchange server may or may not (a lot of larger companies policies do not). You'd have to contact the Administrators to find that out.
If they don't allow POP on Exchange, then ask if they can forward a copy of your mail to another public mail service, like Gmail. Then you can add the Gmail account to your phone via POP.
Remember, if you still want to sync your Contacts and Calendar with Exchange, you need to keep those and just uncheck Mail instead of deleting the Exchange account entirely.

My 2c:
Not sure if it will work - I personally just delete on the fly, be damned the server. However, when I had an old LG v11000 (Envy Touch) I had the VZW email service on it - and even if I deleted from the phone, it was sitting on the server when I logged into Gmail. It was set up "POP3" style.
IF you go under mail/menu/more/settings/send & Receive you can check the box that says "delete mail on server" to turn it on or off. I turn it off so that it will leave a copy on the server but remove it from my phone.

I am having the same, or a similar problem. On my PC I use POP3 to access my mail; the ISP recommended using IMAP on the HTC (with different "in" and "out" mailbox settings for the HTC IMAP i.e. on the HTC two different settings for in and out). Was working fine but then found that messages I had received on my HTC were not appearing on my PC when I got home (my PC had been off, usually it is on, syncing every 2 minutes). I think this is because I had deleted them from my HTC in the meantime.
Trouble is, there is no setting ""delete mail on server" to check or uncheck under mail/menu/more/settings/send & receive, so I cannot follow the above advice. Only Mail size limit, Update schedule, Download options (it's not in there), Auto download message, Folder to sync, Reply with original text and Always bcc me.
What am I missing please ? Software says it is Android 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance.
I use K9 mail and go to more/settings/fetching mail/when I delete
I am flummoxed. I changed the HTC settings from IMAP to POP and did some tests; nothing being deleted ie still available on server. But when I looked at "Send and receive" options, I now have a list with 2 new option, inluding ""delete mail on server". It was not there before. Honest !!
I have been bak and re-set the thing to IMAP, and then the option about deleting from the server disappears again. So I am not going mad. But why should the options be different ?
low on memory
My father In-law has a Thunderbolt and is constantly having a low on memory issue on his phone.. When I go and look at his app's, his exchange is hogging up 2.6 gigs of memory while everything else (APPS) is using only KB'S of memory nothing big.. How would I be able to transfer his exchange email to the SD card,, He has a 32 gig card with 26 gigs of it being free.
Thanks for your help.

[HELP] "Messages" application is missing. No text messages notifications ?

Hello all,
I'm using a Samsung Gear S2 Classic on a Huawei Honor 6 phone, which is compatible, and since I've been using it (2 days) I've never recieved once a text message notification on it, or email. I recieve facebook messenger push notifications, so I can reply to the messages, but no way of going back to the application.
The real problem is that in the Tizen app menu, there is no "Messages" application, nor email for that matter. It's like they don't exist, they were deleted in the OS. But I know that they are there because I've seen the icons on video reviews on youtube. It's extremely frustrating to not recieve text notifications, it makes the watch useless. I've factory resetted twice, played with the options, sent hundreds of text with my phone in vibrate mode, silent mode, screen on, screen off, mixing combinations, but nothing works. I've tried looking on internet for this particular problem of notifications not working but have had no success in finding a fix.
This morning at work I factory resetted the Samsung Gear S2 once more and connected it to a friend's Samsung Galaxy S6, and when everything was synchronised I was shocked to see in the app menu on the watch the Messages and Email apps. I couldn't believe it ! So there must be some sort of compatibily issue with non-samsung (or non-galaxy ?) phones.
I've now synchronised it back to my Honor 6, the Messages app has dissapeard... furthermore I'm not recieving any notifications at all (no push notifications from FB messenger for example).
I don't know what to do, am I supposed to wait for an update ? Will there ever be one ? Are there any hopes ? Should I return my watch to amazon for a full refund ?
Thank you for your feedback.
PS : I imagine that this could be a smart move for non Galaxy users to oblige them in buying new Samsung Galaxy phones... but I would like to keep my android phone for another year at least.
Is the messaging app selected in Gear Manager to forward notifications? Email app?

Are you talking about Notification --> Manage Notifications --> select "Honor 6 internal messaging application" ?
I have selected Phone, and there is no messaging app in the list, which is weird. I think it's included in "Phone" App, since it's the same thing when you open Messages and Phone app on phone, just a different tab inside the application itself.
Here is a video showing the default messaging app on Honor 6 [Here is the video : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxiirboGxLnUUHllcW5tN1k3d0k/view?usp=sharing].
Both messaging and e-mail on the Gear are reliant on the corresponding Samsung (not Google, not third party) stock apps on the phone. It makes sense to disable them on the Gear when paired with non-Samsung phones. Third party apps that don't have corresponding apps designed for the Gear are managed through notifications - that includes messaging and e-mail.

Thanks for the response. However I have returned the watch, I'll wait probably another year to buy a smartwatch at a cheaper price and better compatibility. It's taken too much of my time already to configure and I've had enough of factory resets
I gave back my Samsung Gear S2 and got a moto 360 2nd gen : it's a completely different world, the moto 360 is 100 times better imho and fully compatibly. HAIL GOOGLE.

Notifications

Hi everyone
I need help.
My phone is xiaomi redmi note 4x.
Is it possible to get, read and answer emails and other notifications from the watch?
And if one person sends me a lot of messages will it be able to see and read all of them (not only his name and number of that messages)?
Thanks!

I don't know if you can answer emails on the watch. I canNOT on mine but maybe I have not found a setting that allows it. But I can view emails although I believe that only the beginning of the email will show up but I do see some of the text. I see the name and some of the text. I can trigger a reply but it opens the appropriate app on my phone, not the watch. And you can see more than one. When I wake up and I look at the watch, I will see my gmail1 account with a message and a number under it, say 4. If I tap that "4" I can than scroll through the four emails. If there's email in my yahoo account, I can scroll over to it and again, there will be a number if there's more than one.

Yes. But I'm fairly new to the Gear S3. So I'm not sure of everything it can do. I do know that typing on it can be a bit hard on the small screen and with the "phone dialpad" keyboard. So replying to an email might be awkward. I have not tried any of the alternative keyboards.
Hopefully, someone else will have a more complete answer. Also, mine is a Bluetooth unit so it might be more limited that the standalone LTE versions.
I use a Frontier LTE that is remote connected (not BT) to a Samsung phone. I don't know how my experience differs from the BT only model.
There is a native Tizen email app on the watch. I can read and reply to emails without referring to the phone. Nevertheless, it's not practical to read complex emails on a 1" screen.
There is also a native messaging app. It keeps a threaded history of messages. This is applicable for messages sent to the watch's number. Notifications from the phone only show the last message received. Again, this can be replied to without the phone.

Not a native "Tizen" email app but a native "Samsung" email app it works only with the Samsung mail app on a Samsung phone. If you pair wit a no Samsung phone you have not this email app on the watch

Want to buy an S3, question about functionality without a Samsung device

The question had been asked many times, I know, but I have some specific details still missing:
1) Officially messaging and email are not fully compatible with non Samsung devices, but how much not fully? And what messaging and email do they mean?
1a) Messaging is the Samsung SMS equivalent? Or other messaging apps (WhatsApp/Viber/Facebook messenger)? If only SMS then I can care less about it.
1b) While email is what concerns me: I depend on Gmail and instant notifications, maybe I will do quick replies on the watch, does these work?
2) Technically all notifications should be passed without issues (those you select probably, I have a MiBand 2 and I can choose which notifications to send, love it, but very limited device). But does it in any way support the quick actions Android provides for notifications?
3) Also, do all the above features work when connected to WiFi? I frequently go beyond Bluetooth reach and need to continue getting notifications about everything.
4) Finally, before getting it, is there a way to browse the list of apps on the Samsung apps store for the S3 including available watch faces? Page is not working on PC.
Thanks
I have oneplus3 connected with Gear sport (equal to S3).
1) messages (mail/whatsapp/SMS etc do receive the watch), there is also the app notifications for my SmartWatch in case some notifications won't come through by default.
2) yes, for my emailapp aquamail it does. I suppose Gmail will too.
3) just tested it, yes. Watch connected to wifi and bt disabled. And my phone to 4g. Notifications are comming through.
4) before you buy the watch? I don't know.
I just know,
on iphone,
s3 can't reply message directly, like sms, email, sns.
From samsung's s3 site,
