Notifications - Samsung Gear S3

Hi everyone
I need help.
My phone is xiaomi redmi note 4x.
Is it possible to get, read and answer emails and other notifications from the watch?
And if one person sends me a lot of messages will it be able to see and read all of them (not only his name and number of that messages)?
Thanks!

I don't know if you can answer emails on the watch. I canNOT on mine but maybe I have not found a setting that allows it. But I can view emails although I believe that only the beginning of the email will show up but I do see some of the text. I see the name and some of the text. I can trigger a reply but it opens the appropriate app on my phone, not the watch. And you can see more than one. When I wake up and I look at the watch, I will see my gmail1 account with a message and a number under it, say 4. If I tap that "4" I can than scroll through the four emails. If there's email in my yahoo account, I can scroll over to it and again, there will be a number if there's more than one.

Yes. But I'm fairly new to the Gear S3. So I'm not sure of everything it can do. I do know that typing on it can be a bit hard on the small screen and with the "phone dialpad" keyboard. So replying to an email might be awkward. I have not tried any of the alternative keyboards.
Hopefully, someone else will have a more complete answer. Also, mine is a Bluetooth unit so it might be more limited that the standalone LTE versions.

I use a Frontier LTE that is remote connected (not BT) to a Samsung phone. I don't know how my experience differs from the BT only model.
There is a native Tizen email app on the watch. I can read and reply to emails without referring to the phone. Nevertheless, it's not practical to read complex emails on a 1" screen.
There is also a native messaging app. It keeps a threaded history of messages. This is applicable for messages sent to the watch's number. Notifications from the phone only show the last message received. Again, this can be replied to without the phone.

Not a native "Tizen" email app but a native "Samsung" email app it works only with the Samsung mail app on a Samsung phone. If you pair wit a no Samsung phone you have not this email app on the watch

Different message delivery notification?

On a previous phone I owned, the message delivery notification was just a little icon that appeared in the sent items list. On my N95 notifications were saved in a seperate folder without popping up on screen or ringing/buzzing.
On the raphael, delivery notifications are just normal text messages, which isn't the most practical solution. Is there software for WM that can change this behaviour? Turning it into an icon view would probably be difficult technically, but not displaying a bubble when the notification arrives and silently moving it to a seperate folder would also be a nice solution.
So, is there any way to enable this on the Raphael?
Anyone?...
I tried the program SMS reports eraser, but that doesn't do the job either :/
Is there software that just intercepts the report, marks it as read and places it in a seperate folder?
You should try MagiCall.

Thanks for the tip. I installed it, and made a rule saying that all SMS messages containing the word 'delivered' should be marked as read and moved to a seperate folder. I then saved, performed a softreset, and sent a SMS to a friend.
Unfortunately, this one doesn't work either Could it be that the TF3D interface is overruling the Messaging app, and with it blocking programs that try to tie into the messaging part?
I also find the way these are handled annoying compared to my old N95. The notifications don't even have the person's name, just the number which makes it even worse!
I tried SMS reports eraser and it stopped me from being able to send messages and when people sent them to me I never got them even though the other person got a delivery report!
A suitable program or idea for these would be great. This is my first windows mobile phone and that's probably my biggest issue with it, apart from that it's great.
Ignore this!
Start>Settiings>Sounds & Notifications Select Notification tab. Go to New Text Message. From there, you can select Display Notification on Screen. That keeps the popup to nothing more than the envelope in the top bar once you deselect it.
Hope that's what you are looking for.

Delivery reports have no phone number but with a sender name, such as 'System Administrator'. To filter them, just use MagiCall to filter that sender name. Example:
Rule type: SMS
Filter type: Sender name
Name list: System Administrator
Action1: Move to folder
To: spec_folder
Leave all other settings default values. It should work.
Solution
Well, i seem to have the same problem, but i have found using Advance Config software to actually solve this problem. I am not sure if that is what u guys are looking for but after using the Advance Config, i will get a msg saying "msg sent" whenever i send an sms, but not get any report. So i am assuming when it says "MSG sent" it is already a delivary report which i got from my previous WM from from other PDA.
So here is how u do it. First install Advance Config, then go into settings, under messaging tab, change "sms sent notification" from disabled to enabled.
And restart your phone. Once done, everytime u send an sms, u will recieve a buble box saying " msg sent" thats all. No rubish in your inbox.
Let me know if this help. Thanks!

While this works, this isn't exactly what the previous posters wanted. They wanted the delivery reports and not the sent reports.
Symbian S60 intercepted these delivery report messages and then displayed them as "popup dialogs" to users before storing them into a separate folders. This is also one of my gripes about WM6. But I can live without delivery reports.

oK, thanks, I´ll try it tomorrow
I'm having the same problem, I was post a new thread but I searched and found this.
I like delivery notifications, but the fact that it comes as a normal SMS instead of a popup notification like on other phones is really annoying.
I'm not getting any notifications (sent or delivered) and I want to get at least 1. I live in an area where I have pretty spotty service and it's annoying to find out an hour later that my text never actually sent. Is there any way I can turn it on?
I checked the htc manual and it says I should be able to enable a delivery report before sending the message or in message options. However, my message options are light grey so I can't click on them. It's been like this since I took the phone out of the box.
Thanks so much.

[Q] SMS notifications on top, but message does not appear in conversation

Hey there, I hope you're doing great!
I'm creating this thread because I was wondering if the issue I am about to describe is a known bug or if it only happens with me.
The problem I am experiencing is sporadic, as I cannot determinate a specific cause for it; it sometimes happen right after reboot, and sometimes after long usage, after a call, simple idling, etc.
Of course the issue is that when I receive an SMS message from a contact, I see it pop-up at the top as a notification, but when I want to see it in the threaded conversation, it is simply not there. I can continue texting, and they continue receiving my messages properly, as do I... only by looking at the top status bar though, because other than that, the threaded conversation remains the same during the whole exchange.
My phone is not rooted, it is a brand new LG-P999 from Videotron (They call it the LG Optimus 2X here!) and it runs Froyo 2.2.2!
Thank you very much for your help, and of course, excuse me if this issue has already been looked into! Otherwise, have an awesome day!
Is it possible you are using a third-party text app? I ask because I mainly use Google Voice for my texts, but every now and then someone will text my phone number, which of course means it goes to the phone's message app. As you mentioned, you get the notification and can respond just fine. However, if I don't pay attention, and go to my Voice messages, their messages will not appear, and I have to switch to the built-in message app to see their conversations.

Thanks for your reply, but I am actually using the stock SMS app!
Hmph, started looking into the "Messages" app settings and found something called "Text messages on SIM card" and found all the messages I was "missing".
What causes this?! =O
*EDIT*
I looked on the Internet a bit but found nothing pertaining to the LG-P999/G2X. I, however, found information on the matter saying that this is usually caused by reaching the maximum capacity of SMS messages in your phone. I have about 120 messages all in all, which is certainly a very small number! I also have about 4.50GB of free space on my phone!
Thanks for the help!

Thanks a lot, it is definitely a relief to know that this is a known bug. Do you know how we can change the default storage of the voice mail, or I need to root?
Thanks!
I just wanted to add that I successfully found a permanent workaround to this problem by installing GoSMS Pro! No more "disappearing" text messages

Exchange emails plain out don't work on my GS4

So I'm always presented with 'No Emails' on the email app on the Gear 2. I verified the settings on the Gear 2 manager, and my desired email is checked. Why am I not able to see any emails at all?
I'm running a rooted stock firmware of the GS4, if that helps at all.
I assume that you are using the stock email app? If so, note that Exchange is rather limited with notifications (such was my case) and someone suggested CloudMagic-- which is AWESOME--- and I am able to actually view my emails, whereas before, I was only able to see the sender and not much more on the Gear 2.
If you are running stock email and are not interested in CloudMagic, verify that the following is checked...
- Settings> Security> Notification Access> Make sure that "Gear Manager" is checked (which should be if you are getting notifications of any sort on the Gear 2).
- Gear Manager> Notifications> Notifications for Gear> Ensure that "Email" is checked.
I feel like there's one more selection (possibly) within the Email app itself, however I cannot remember straight away.

have you tried on new firmware? I've only had the G2 Neo for 2 days, but I had a firmware install on day 1 and email has always worked fine... no photo/multimedia, but I read my exchange mail as they come in.
I figured out the issue (sorry for the delay in posting)
It does work, however I was under the impression that it'd show you all the emails you have, not just new incoming emails.

How did you get it to work. I have CloudMagic and it gives a runinng list of email titles only. No content and it is in a continuous string that does not delineate between messages. Any assist here would be great. This is only an issue for my exchange account. All other email works fine.

Hangouts SMS (Google Voice)

As some of you know Android Wear doesn't allow you to send SMS via Google Voice. I have a working solution and wanted to know if anyone would actually use it. The solution however requires Tasker and AutoWear to get the command from the watch and act on it. This is also a non-root solution. Last this will of course be open source.
Do you mean initiate a new Hangout with someone (a) or respond to an SMS via Google Voice (b)?
A. If you wish to send a Google Voice SMS through Hangouts, you should be able to use the "Send text to Sam Hey, how's it going?" voice command. If Hangouts is set as your phone's SMS app on your phone and it is setup to default to your GV #, that should work. If you wish to send a new hangout chat (non-SMS) through Hangouts, I think you're SOL or stuck with a very hacky Tasker/AutoWear situation.
B. You are able to respond to someone from hangouts. Hangouts will default to the method of contact that you received the prompting message in.

I just got my Moto 360 this past week and the fact GV/Hangouts is so horribly "unsupported" is a major turn off since being able to to send texts via GV via the watch was going to be a big use case. (But as I've learned through use and bunches of Google searches it's not that simple.)
I'm about to head off on my own Tasker+AutoWear solution but I only "kind of" know how to use Tasker properly and haven't used AutoWear at all so if you already have something that works I'd love to see it.

Hangout SMS
I must appreciate for your fantabulous work on creating app that allows send hangout sms by voice.
Tried Quick for Wear?
I think you should be able to use Quick for Wear to send Hangout messages. And as a bonus, you have the option of using voice, or one of their built in keyboards, or FlickKey for Wear - which also lets you edit voice messages with a keyboard if you use voice through it.

Hi, I really would use and appreciate this feature. I only use GV for sms over Hangouts. Even when using send text via the phone's "okay Google" send text feature, it defaults to sending a hangouts sms (from my real cell#) instead of my gv #. It drives my nuts. Is there anyway to TWEAK a setting on the office for okay Google?. So that Okay Google command, sends all sms by default using the GV number. This may be the solution...

This is because when you use the voice commands to send a message, it is never touching the default SMS app (in this case, Hangouts). Rather, it composes the whole thing and even sends from its own user interface. Up until a recent update to Hangouts, this is how it worked system-wide. In other words, clicking send msg from the dialer or contacts screen, for example, would open hangouts as the sms app (if set to be the default for sms), but always start out as sending from the carrier instead of GV. We could change the setting in Hangouts to always start messages with the GV account by default, but that only helped when opening and composing a new message in hangouts. Initiating a text anywhere in else in the OS, for some reason made Hangouts go back to the carrier. My guess is that they always intended GV to be a companion to the carrier, but not actually replace it. For example, if you wanted to have a private number for personal use and another more public number to give out, this would make sense.
I kept submitted bug reports about this behavior (that Hangouts should respect your default account to send from), and I know other people as well. It seems they finally got the memo and made that change a few months ago I think, and the current version of Hangouts finally respects your SMS account of choice when initiating a new msg from anywhere.
But using "OK GOOGLE" does not. Because it uses its own interface and therefore never touches your default SMS app. I'm guessing the solution proposed above uses Tasker to intercept the command, copy the transcribed message, then open a Hangouts message to paste it in. I really wish Google would issue a proper fix for this so that those of us who wish to use GV as our seamless phone number could be a globally supported function of the OS. I honestly got excited that the new GV app finally supports MMS and group texts without requiring hangouts, but sadly you still can't set GV to be the default messaging app. Its like, they almost get what we want to do, but aren't quite ready to embrace it yet. So I wouldn't hold me breathe for the compose via voice feature to be rolled out in an official fix so soon.
I'm a little confused about how Hangouts works on AW. I'm specifically interested in the functionality on an LTE watch when it's not connected to a phone.
Can Hangouts messages be received and responded to from a watch in standalone mode? Is it possible to initiate a message from Hangouts, preserving the GV caller id?
I have a Gear S3 and can receive and respond to Hangouts messages, but not initiate them. I was hoping that AW watches would handle this better.

So before Android Wear 2.0 was released, you'd get notifications that you could respond to but not necessarily do much more than that - sounds a lot like your setup on the S3. Now, you have fully functioning apps that are separate from your phone. I don't use Google Voice, but the Hangouts app lets you see all your conversations including media. Of course, you can initiate a new message in any of those conversations (without needing a notification to reply to). But, I don't see an option to start a new conversation from the watch app. Otherwise, you have full functionality. This is how most apps will work once devs release a version to the Play Store on Android Wear watches.
In short, get an Android Wear watch with a sim card and you can leave your phone at home without losing connectivity.

Stock Messaging is Horrendous. How I got Google Messenger on my S3

So I was told upon getting my new S3 Frontier (Sleek as hell btw) that if I want to be able to send and receive texts I have to go back to the stock text app on my samsung phone.
Much to my dismay I did. Within an hour my phone crawled to a halt. Switched back to Google Messenger (Long Live Google) and much to my surprise, even though it keeps telling me when I try to start a new text that I have to use the default text app, i can still view and send texts with Google Messenger as my default. When prompted that I need to switch, I simply hit the X and it takes me to the Message threads and I can still create or respond accordingly, albeit looking like the stock layout. In fact, when I receive texts, it displays GM's icon for the text and lets me reply with no hangups. It even displays group messages properly compared to the stock text app. If you reply via the notification, it then skins the message threads to Google Messenger. It still won't display pictures, but that really isn't a big deal nor would I really want to see pic messages (hey if you want to give us support for it I won't complain). All in all, it would seem the S3 has half-baked support, or GM has it baked in, for third party messengers to be used on the Gear.
So I'm not sure if this is intended or I somehow got lucky, But I just wanted to pass along this bit of information and wanted to ask if there is a way to fully integrate my GM app into my s3 somehow?

Yes same with chompsms that I use and love so much. I was already calling to find out about returning it and freaking out. But when I power cycled the units, everything works. I use it mainly for replying to text so it works for me. Hopefully we get more support from some devs
