s4 sim in my s5 wont work - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a s4 and a s5 when I try to put the sim in it read and works for a minute but comes back saying sim data stop reading and say sim is locked and reboot. when i reboot it works but then say it again after it tries to activate. The s5 is on a plan thru sprint is there a way to use my s4 account.

Call sprint and have the s5 activated on the number the s4 is currently on

I tried that they said it link to another account and cant. I got it from a friend. that tried to get it turned on thru boostmobile but couldnt. so i was like I have sprint and let me see if my sim work. its does but 3 minutes later it says data stop reading and sim locked. about to look for a sprint inside hookup lol

Yah your only hope is to go to a sprint store now

[Q] Newly Unboxed Phone has no data

Ok so I got the Infuse today. Go ME! The screen is sooo much better than my captivate's, if that's possible.
So I take the SIM card out of my old Captivate that I got this time last year. I have the 2GB plan for it. But only now, my Infuse 4g has no data connection even after letting sit for a few minutes.
I did some looking around here at different APN settings and they didn't seem to do anything except cut off my Phone service. Some other people suggested my data plan might not be up to par. But I have a data plan for the Captivate that I activated when I got that phone. Are the phone's data plans really that different that I have to call AT&T to resolve it?
The phone is totally stock, no flashes done to it, hasn't had root attempted on it yet. Brand New out of the box.
You have to call att to have it switched from 3g to 4g I had the same problem they had me give them some numbers and put some numbers in my phone then everything worked.

Ah. Thanks then, that should be easy enough then. Too bad its today though, even the non US tech support is closed till tomorrow.
If u used the sim out of ur captivate u need a new sim because infuse is 4g and captivate is 3g(it makes a difference some over the phone tech doesn't know better). I had this problem

Im pretty sure that dont make a difference. I still use my sim from when the razr was still in att. But anything is possible

Call them and have them switch the data plan. I had the same issue. You don't need a new sim or even add anything to the settings. Its also no price change.

Yup, happened to me. Switched from a BB Bold, att had to switch my plan at no charge.
You don't have to call and switch...I came from a 3g phone to this one with no issues...you have to put your sim card in you may have to reboot a couple times for it to recognize it....it worked for me

press and hold power button ..make sure data mode is on ..(or is this only if youre rooted)?
did you get it through att with a new contract.. they would have sent you a new sim??
i used my new sim when i first got mine when upgrading from captivate.. dont know if old sim worked or not i just switched it when i got the phone.
what firmware came on your phone?? must know!!
Go to settings>mobile networks >apn settings and see if you have an apn ....it may have been deleted by accident...happened on my daughters captivate....easy fix...just add the apn ....

[Q] Activating used Nexus S 4G

If I give my bro my NS4G can it be activated again to use his number? And if so what do I do? Just factory reset and then call Sprint?
Yes u can just go to sprint and they can do it right there on the spot.

[Q] 4g issue

Hi I've been having this issue ever since I rooted my phone in mid December I've only been receiving 3g not LTE yesterday I updated my nightly and I had 4g but then I updated my roaming using *228 and my LTE stopped working. Can anyone help with this issue or has seen this issue before?
I have gotten a new 4g sim all the options on the settings look correct

People reported that if you do *228 you kill your 4G and you need a new SIM card.

Thank you guys I just didn't know because this sim card is new and updating the nightly last night didn't work I had it for a few hours but I wasn't getting very good service so I *228 and right after I did that it stopped working

Go into a vzw corporate store and get a new sim card its free. They made me activate in store they didn't look at my fone they jst check that it works.

[Q] Simcard and rooting

I plan on rooting my Nexus 5, but I don't have the Sim card yet or have activate the phone yet (am going to be using AT&T btw) . Should I get the sim and activate then root, or do it now with out the sim or activating.

Internet and phone not at the smart time

I noticed when I was driving that while I was on the phone Waze was not responsive.
It turns out that Sprint claims Samsung has to fix it. The S7 edge cannot at this moment talk and internet the the same time

Guys i am back to my note 3 with the s7 i cannot download emails text while on the phone. Anyone experiencing that?
I used a note 3 or 3 years same provider same area same everything. On my note 3 all works fine. On my S7 I cannot download email or text while on the phone.
Maybe there i a problem with the service I just want to make sure is not the phone.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I found tyis article:
Unfortunately you cannot do this anymore on Sprint. I will list below as to why.
The older phones had two CDMA radios put in them (such as the S3 on Sprint). One dedicated to voice -- another dedicated to data. Therefore you could do voice and data. GSM has always been one radio .. because that one radio can do both tasks at the same time. They got around it on CDMA by simply adding another radio in there and dedicating each one to one task.
Now a days they're getting rid of that second CDMA radio. So therefore you can only use talk, or data -- not both at the same time. Now if you're using VoLTE it will allow voice and data since the call will be going through LTE (as data) and .. data will be data. So it is technically then all data. Verizon can get by since they have VoLTE ... Sprint doesn't yet so .. No other work-around except to just use WiFi while on the call.
