The fact is i don't play game like MC4,asphalt 8 or generic everyday shooter that you can play on pc
But something like Cytus,Deemo,Osu!,Visual novel, ppsspp and etc
Mainly android exclusive games that aren't generic games

But something like Cytus,Deemo,Osu!,Visual novel, ppsspp and etc
Now then you will think PPSSPP?? cheap phone can't handle that!
Too bad psp game that i'm going to play is mostly visual novel too
Mainly android exclusive games that aren't generic games
I uninstalled TN-V8 so yeah interest of getting another vita
I'm thinking of phone,tablet,phablet interest
Oh right
Must support 3G,Calling too wouldn't want to carry 3 devices in my pocket (Vita, 9 usd phone,150 usd phablet wifi only)
Sooooo any advice? or i'm asking at wrong place? (I have no idea where to ask about these)

There isn't a Phablet for 150 USD or cheaper although you could get chinese ones, But they suck overtime.
Anyway a Phablet is a Phone with ~6 Inch screen, To get it from a trusted brand (Samsung,HTC) You will need atleast 600 USD to get it.
I Doubt anyone could give you some cheap phablets except Chinese ones which are very bad...
Bumping this thread cause i don't want to create a new one
Well i guess i'm getting a smart phone interest then
I'm suck when it's come to choosing mobile spec but here what other forum recommend me so far (with 100 usd budget)
I-MOBILE i-STYLE 2.3
Lenovo A316i
Asus Zenfone 4
What do you guy think about these?

Hello everyone,
Need your help folks.
I need a tablet for my 9 years old boy, and I am a newbie.....
I thought about either Asus Transformer or Galaxy 10'
- fast browser with flash, youtube, facebook
- skype with video
- avi, mp4 etc playback ( I dont want to convert files, I want to play them stright
after downloading)
- easy data transfer from my PC
- GPS navigation (copilot, igo etc) without using data
- some games working like : moshi monsters and android stuff (I ve got Galaxy 2)
Do I need a custom ROM for all above option?
Please share your thoughts, I ve got 2 weeks to make the decision.
Thank you for your help
Tough question
I guess the answer is; It depends.
The sturdiness of the construction should be a certain plus considering how a 9 year old may handle it. ASUS are good about upgrading so even if you don't root it you might not need to wait much for upgrades.
If he is going to use it for school work the keyboard/dock would be a HUGE advantage since it also has a card reader in the dock so he can backup any work or transfer to main computer with ease.
The drawback would be the price especially considering possible longevity in the hands of a 9 year old (one lucky 9 year old).
If it's good for a 30+ year old boy, i reckon it will be GREAT for a 9 year old boy
- fast browser with flash, youtube, facebook
Use alternative stock browser (dolphin for tab is good)
- skype with video
- avi, mp4 etc playback ( I dont want to convert files, I want to play them stright
after downloading)
Use moboplayer or mx player
- easy data transfer from my PC
Use software data cable
- GPS navigation (copilot, igo etc) without using data
- some games working like : moshi monsters and android stuff (I ve got Galaxy 2)
All previous android games will run on tablet although not all will perform great if not optimized considering tablet 1280x800 rez (yeah im looking at you star blizt)
You may want to give a 7" tab as a test run just to be safe.

Are you sure?!?
Btw if my 2.5 yo son fights with me to play with it, 9 yo will be crazy about it for sure
9 year old daughter uses it all the time. Plays games mostly. 4 year old son also plays games on it. Real question is not age though, but rather maturity level of said child. My daughter has has a PSP since she was 2 and son got one this year. Both have rules to follow when using these asnd other devices (computer, game consoles, etc). Set those rules first and you sxhouild be good.
P.s. its also good for you to be familiar with the devices they use.... so you know how to restric access, fix, and otherwise maintain these devices.....
I bought an Acer Iconia because I could not find the Transformer. I picked up the Transformer about 2 months ago and gave my 9 year old daughter the Iconia and she has been doing great with it. SHe is taking pictures, videos, and playing games.
IMO the 7" form factor would work better for hands that size. If you do get one for a 9-year-old, I would suggest a screen protector and bumper-style case.
My son is 8 and he uses it all the time. He is mostly playing games and sometimes watching TV. He loves the transformer dearly.
My 7yr old nephew came over w/ family for dinner last week. His mom brought the ipad. i let him use my Trnsfrmr and he liked it. Upon handing it to him, he went to Market and downloaded some games even I didnt know about. Alot were available on Appstore so he knew what he was looking for. Some of them worked with the Playstation 3 controller. After playing Youtube videos that were driving me crazy, he had to go and didnt want to put it down! Put a case and a screen protector on it and your 9yr old should be fine.

I have three tablets, a Gtab, a TF and an Ipad. When I chase my 8 year old off of one he sneeks aroundand starts playing games on of the others. He prefers the tablets over a pc now. Be sure to limit access to the market!
Am I the only person in this thread who is fascinated that no one has brought up that there is a debate whether or not a 9 year old should have a tablet as a full-time device?
The majority of this thread is about letting a child use their tablet part-time. But OP's idea is to give a CHILD a tablet. Just so confused on what this world is turning into. Investing a $300+ device for a 9-year old.

Why not? If you have the money of course and he/she is reponsible enough to not be playing 12h a day. Better if they learn technology quickly so they are not behind.
^ I think you are.
And don't worry, in say 10 yrs or so, people will be talking about giving a child more than just a tablet, like a high-tech helmet that serves as a media player all in one.
The Transformer is good for any age. It comes down to the fact of getting a 9 year old a tablet, or anything of this value. like zephiK said. $400 is kinda steep for something that may be thrown around, banged around, dropped, etc. The ViewSonic GTab is only $350(?) and while it isn't that much better than $400, the 50 that you save and probably go to a accidental damage insurance/warranty.
I wish my parents would think of giving me something that cost over $100. If I wanted anything over that, I had to chip in at least 25% or wait til Christmas/birthday and that would be my only present from them
They are both veyr good to use for kids..
Unless he needs the keyboard dock I think a Nook color for $250 is a better choice for a child. The 7" is a better size for small hands. It is a a nice piece of hardware with a beautiful IPS screen. You can easily root and flash a custom rom to turn it into a fully functional Android tablet

+1 to this. Of course with it's 7" screen, it can be a ereader once he starts reading more for school and fun. Since he will probably only be using it to play games, watch movies, and maybe go on some websites, the Nook's hardware is perfect for that. No need to pay for the Tegra 2's hardware when he probably won't need it
EDIT: I was in Staples today, and saw that the Dell Streak is only $250 or $299. It would definitely need to be rooted and run a custom rom, because the stock on the Streak is crappy. If I were you, I'd choose between the Nook Color and Dell Streak. The Streak would probably be worth it in the long run, as it won't become outdated as fast. Too me the TF is a serious decision, unless you're absolutely sure. (I'm basing the seriousness off of what I've seen kids around his age do..)
we have 3 of them in our household now. My 9 year old daughter used her birthday money to buy one, with help from mom and dad, and my 13 year old daughter just did the same this week for her birthday.
Depends on the child...
Like I said in the title "Depends on the child". I personally wouldn't buy my 14 year old girl one because she's broken 3 high dollar cell phones in a little over a year. I'd buy both my boys one in a heartbeat. My 7 and 3 year old sons both share my nook color and treat it like gold. At 9 I'd look at the new Acer 7 inch tablet. I almost wish I'd have waited for that myself (my 7 inch nook always fit great in my my work slacks or loose jeans) but I like the nice big screen on the Transformer for watching movies in bed (great for those nights when my 3 year old sneaks into ed with my wife and I and won't go to sleep. Thomas and Friends to the rescue). Think about a few things such as the maturity of the child, form factor (what's the size most suited to her), cost and manufacturer support (Asus hands down has the best support, ie. updates)
Kids love choices so pick two or three options and let her choose what she wants out of those. Ristrict Market and internet access as well. Too much crap out there nowadays that children have no business looking at. And finally for the love of everything holy do not break down and give her an iPad....just don't. Its our duty as parents to lovingly guide them down the righht path. And if lovingly doesn't work then bribe generously.
First Tablet witch ICS
With new processor and GPU. and its cost only $99

The Novo7 operates on a 1GHz MIPS-based XBurst CPU and comes incorporated with the Vivante GC860 GPU that is responsible for offering 3D graphics. Boasting of Google CTS certification, it is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen display. This slab is capable of lending support to connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.3 and microSD.
Not bad for 99 bucks, might buy one
Mhh i might give it a try. Decent h/w for a nice price... <3
I am interested as well, but I may wait to see what kind of development it gets before buying....
its all sold out when i tried to buy one.
I can't wait to get my hands on one. I would buy more for my relatives if it work w/o any lag & i hope some devs get their hands on some too.
Guess I was right on time. Ordered one 2 days back. Said it will take 2 weeks before they'll start shipping. They hope it will reach me before christmas.
Screen sucks from what I've read (crappy resolution) but if I look at novo7 reviews with gingerbread on it on youtube, device looks fast and everything works.
I'll only be using it on the go and while i'm in the library studying so its perfect for me, webbrowsing and games.
And it has a microsd card slot. Perfect when I take pictures with my camera and put it in if I'm somewhere even though the resolution is not that great.
My employer is selling $99 tablets with Gingerbread, and possibly 800Mhz processors...the only saving grace is their capacitive screens.
Next up, $200 outdated resistive-screened Coby, 800Mhz, no GPU. Better? $250 Coby, 1Ghz no GPU and a VGA webcam...rejoice.
This tablet is like a bolt out of the blue for awesomeness. Thank you XDA.

Lets hope lots of devs will be able to get their hands on them. I think I'm going to wait until the 8" or 10" to come out before getting one. But, I'll probably buy my two nieces one each so they won't be fighting over one.
I finally received mine today Time to unpack it
How to i get support if i buy this tablet. will i get support from india?
I'd like to know more about this tablet. For all of you who have it: Is it worth the buy?
Ok don't be angry . I'm gonna sell it, I just had a quick look at the device to see if everything worked before selling it.
I looked round the internet and found out that the tablet is basically a regular Novo 7 tablet only with android 4.0 installed.
Then I read that the sourcecode for the regular gingerbread Novo 7 tablets has been released and they're expecting a 4.0 update.
Having paid 120 euros incl. shipping for the device and seeing that I can get the regular gingerbread Novo 7 for way cheaper, I decided to sell the device and will wait and see what the future brings.
Untill then guess its back using my HP Touchpad.
What I noticed in the 1 minute I used the device. Fast opening video and photos. Screen resolution is indeed low but actually looks better then I expected. I could see details in the photos and they looked good.
The Device itself felt great. Perfect size, not heavy. The white back looks awesome.
It actually doesnt look/feel cheap at all.
I guess overall the device is really awesome, only downside is the screen but if you can live with a normal screen instead of a supersharp screen then you should definitely get one.
So, my new Novo 7 Paladin arrived at my door about an hour ago. I live in Shanghai, so I ordered online yesterday & it arrived today.
Price was 499 RMB (or around $79 USD ), and seller paid shipping charges. Pretty amazing deal. Many sellers at that price online in China...check this link here...
I've spent maybe 30 minutes or so playing with it...
- It came with Android 4.0 installed as advertised. This is my first exposure to the new OS, so I'm still getting used to it.
- The device came with a bunch of Chinese apps & several games preloaded (a bunch of which I've already uninstalled).
- Wi-Fi fired right up & was online in moments...no problems
- It seems like a simple, solid device...not flashy by any means, but I'm not sure what more you could expect at this price point.
- I haven't tried any movies or music yet...I'm charging it up right now & will play with it more later.
Is the Cube U9GTV (U9GT5) a good buy? Specs here
What are some reliable websites to buy Chinese android tablets from?
Here are few websites that I gathered from looking around on the forum:
- pandawill
- aliexpress
- cube-tablet.com (most possibly a scam website, and run by the same guy who runs bunch of other similar scam sites)
The price at the moment is $300. Do you guys think it will go down soon?
Reponse
It looks very nice, tech. specs are good...
As far as i know Cube did still not release it to order it already.
A colleague bought his Tablet at "Cect shop" trusted and good.

I have bought it
I have bought this device at the first look tablet works nice and fast. It costs every dollars I pay for. Screen is awesome, thing which android devices must have. Today I will try to root my Cube

Screen can work in two modes (can be changed in settings):
- HD Retina (2048x1536). In this mode, device slight laggy and sometimes freeze due to hard task running. But resolution is great. Fonts and images are very sexy.
- Normal (1024x768). In this mode device works very fast. It runs high perfomanced games without any lags and fps slowdowns (Mass Effect, Dead Space, Asphalt 7, Angry Birds Seasons,World of Goo, Bridge Construct etc.)
I found, a Rockchip 3066 with Mali400mp is quite powerful core. I can watch 30GB 1080p HD video with out any lags (my iPad3 couldn't do it)
As for me, screen needs additional brightness, becouse I can't comfortable use it out of the door .
Tables battery supplies device working for 7 hours with external 3G usb modem and max brightness.

Hello,
I'm looking for Android phone up to 200$.
Not sure if should I buy something kinda outdated (like htc desire with old android) or rather fairly new construct like chineese clones (something like hdc i9300 or something else on mtk6575/6577). with recent android version Those chineese phones have quite good specs, but it's a lot of mess with them (sometime they claim to have ips screen, sometime the vary same model say it's amoled, even single alieexpress auction in one place is stated that it has ips screen while few lines lower says its amoled).
Very hard for me too choose. Are there any reputable reviews of those clones? Lots of reviews look more like commercials saying only good thigs about phone.
What would you choose?
I just want pretty standard things like :
responsive UI (hate lagging)
wifi (really working not just 1m away router)
good screen usable in sunlight (perfect would be ips) between 3.5 and 4.8 inches.
web browsing option
capable of runinng few apps at the time (browser, calendard etc) - don't care about games, although it would be nice to view movies.
and pretty decent battery (so like 2days at least of working)
GPS
decent camera which could replace separate compact camera.
Phone must be new.
Is anyone really happy with clone bought from china? Not only after buying but also after few months of use?
Could you point sellers you've been satisfied with? I know there are ratings with aliexpress, but many users buying barely know what they are buying, and even if phone is lot worse then specs say they give good feedback. E.g. Few months ago on polish auction site (like ebay) there was a guy selling fake pendrives (256mb capacity while claiming to have 32gb - altered somehow to show fake capacity) and most users left him positive feedback.
thanks in advance
Please use the sticky at the top of this section for all phone decision questions. Thank you. Thread closed.
VOTING SORRY IT WAS MISLEADING ( VOTE YES! FOR HELPFUL) ( VOTE NO! FOR USELESS )
First of all Not sure if this is where it should be i thought putting this in off topic was too far from the point and reading through other threads it didn't seem to fit anywhere, Anyway i'll post it here anyway i would like to think most people on this website would appreciate this and see if i have to valid points and some cool things to show you maybe.
I would firstly like to start with some cool Android game consoles being developed by a company called JXD http://www.jxd.hk/ they're other companies doing this (not as good and more expensive) in my opinion but i'll supply information for you do to your own researched at the bottom of this thread.
Anyway This is the newest console released the S7300 just released a day ago it's quite amazing system and extremely cheap ( older models if you have a budget to test these out starting as low as $20 - $40 USD) This latest one is about $150 it's android the specs are listed here
As you can see the device has possibility for some good gaming and a start to some innovative ideas and maybe bigger companies creating devices similar to this.
What is the point?
Well i was a huge user of my Xperia play and Galaxy s3 which i recently sold for a Android iphone 5 rip off mainly because it looked good worked great and was light enough to go jogging without it annoying me, but this gave me a lack of gaming which i love about my android mobile so i decided to look for an android gaming device it took an hour or so but i found hundreds some on ebay some on random websites, after separating the over priced devices and the ones with poor design and bad hardware i found a website or 2 with the device i was going to purchase, and after looking all day i found there is a good start to this android gaming, but how come it hasn't set off bigger or faster yet, i find it a shame.
What to do?
Well many may disagree but this is the only website i use for anything remotely android related, but i was thinking if XDA could add apart of the forum for unpopular devices such as these underground branded ( Non rip off android devices and the emerging gaming android console and devices ) to increase the speed it picks up i believe if we have people talking about it more and helping sharing in customized apps themes etc... it might help set off the community to use it more which may encourage developers to add more support.
I mean Why Not! we have tablets but everything seems to be big brands Sony, Samsung, Apple, Nokia, i thought this was a website for unlocking your device for better use and doing things with it the majority of us think is "Cool".
I might add more later But for now i'll leave some links to a few devices i looked through and website to purchase or compare prices for your curiosity.
Developer jxe website all their devices are listed there but no purchasing options but good to get the names to Google
Another product i thought would be good to mention just for the hell of it if you go jogging like me or like high quality sound with less wires and cheap at the same time would be to purchase a MW600 it's a Bluetooth headset and you just plug your headphone into it and it connects wirelessly to you phone.
http://www.willgoo.com/ - This website seems to sell any modded gaming android devices from all the companys making them at the moment at the cheapest price and a vast collection to choose from.
The latest device out is http://www.willgoo.com/jxd-s7300-du...ons-8gb-p-306.html?referrer=CNWR_771331638507
Reason i liked this among the rest?
for one the touch screen isn't the out dated touch resistant most others use.
First to have an actual dual analog joysticks! and not like the xperia play with the stupid touch slide which i found tedious after a day of use.
2 back buttons and simple nice thin design.
highest resolution offered.
and does say it has 3G i don't know if it's via a sim card or it means through wifi tethering with another device who knows but i'm happy either way
another product i thought would be good to mention just for the hell of it if you go jogging like me or like high quality sound with less wires and cheap at the same time would be to purchase a MW600 it's a Bluetooth headset and you just plug your headphone into it and it connects wirelessly to you phone.
Unmarked android phones.
I'll list a few android phones i think are semi decent and can be cheap and stilll good looking on a budget here is the top 2 websites i trust and can be cheap if you search well
eForChina and Dhgate
These 2 websites have plenty mobile phones people could check out at a cheap price, the one i purchased because i wanted a decent phone that runs android but looks like an iphone 5 is zophone 5
It's a little more steep in price than the others but i managed to get it for £120 off ebay but its light and does what i need it to do.
Done more research the website most china branded (unbranded) mobiles are released to http://android-sale.com/
this website's most famous brand seems to be the goophone for the iphone 5 android clones but they also make some really good unique none clone designs packing quad core 2gb ram models, would be good if you're looking for some unique designed phone you won't see any friends using.
That thing looks slick. Will do more research.
Yeah it would be nice to see games compatible

It has a dual core mali 400, and a dual core a9 clocked at 1.5, it should run most games other mali 400 devices run. I pre ordered one and now waiting for it. I hope it gets popular enough to have a community and a few custom rom builds. It has quite decent specs for emulation(main purpose its being promoted for) and should run almost every game on the android market. The main issue with JDX devices is battery life (is why I hope for custom roms), but the device claims to come pre rooted, you can see pictures of it supposedly having play store support, so if a community does surge for it it could be as popular as the kindle in terms of a dedicated community interested in custom android builds that support better battery use and remove some of its bloatware. im replacing the free 8g card ill get for pre ordering with a 32(64 if it takes it) card and have a decent 40gig snes/ps1 emulation device with touch controls that will let me do the basic things i do on my phone. Since i plan to tether it from my phone, I'm aiming to keep my phone pocketed the whole time, Headset calls, redirect texts to the JXD, and play/browse on the 7 inch screen so if a call comes in my gaming wont be interrupted something that ruins some games that reboot when a call comes in.
Maybe Padone 2 ? over 7k mAh, four core etc... Nothing but fine gaming devices with possibilities
They should make a special section in the forum for JXD Devices. Especially for developers that wants to help with making the device easier to use.
