I know this isn't Android anymore, but has anyone pulled/ported the stock Tizen browser from Tizen OS? I assume it would be easy enough to sideload this to the device via USB Debugging, right?

Sounds easy and it might be but, we don't have a keyboard yet anyways. Hopefully when the fleksy keyboard comes out there will be more useful apps.

While we wait, can you share what you think would be a useful scenario where pulling up a webpage on a tiny watchscreen will be more convenient than just pulling out your phone and doing it that way? I'm really curious and maybe you have a great idea I haven't considered.
Some kind of situation when you want to check things without hands free? Checking live train times while carrying luggage or checking football scores while it's raining perhaps?

Either of those scenarios you just mentioned are great, but voice commands w/ S Voice would be more useful (if it can even do this - I know Google Now can get me this info from my phone, but S Voice on the Gear currently just comes back and says "sorry, we couldn't find the answer to your question".
Also, if your hands are full, what makes you think that opening up and typing a web address on the watch's little screen will be "hands free"? You can't even interact with the watch without touching it with your other hand.

How would you navigate an app or browser without using you hands/fingers? Your football score scenario is already accomplished via ESPNs Score Center app. It can be configured to send notifications based on team preferences (i.e. notify of scoring plays during your fav team games).
And now that I think about it, if only the Google Maps app could be configured to send turn-by-turn notifications, we would sort of have GPS on our Gears.

oh I forgot about the turn by turn functionality - Pebbles can do this, even though I never got a chance to use it since my phone is mounted on my dashboard. Would be useful when walking in a city, though - without keeping your phone out. The problem of course is the watchscreen turns off again and you have to touch the watch and navigate to the app again to see the next direction.

Yep, and shortly after I posted this I came up with an article about that Pebble feature... however, it seems it is limited to the iOS version of Google Maps because it is able to send normal push notifications for each turn.

TiKL for Android is a Push to Talk app that uses Voip. Just found this today on the market and have been playing around with it with some friends. Has great potential! I cant post links yet, (if someone could help me out and post one) just do a search for TiKL in the market.

Ok
someone please explain to me the usefulness of push to talk. I really never got it, and seriously want to understand how it is used and why it's different than calling someone? And I'm not being sarcastic. REALLY I AM NOT!
Is it just a "doesn't cost minutes" thing? Just a real world scenario where you would use this instead of calling would be great.
We run UPS and Generator tests at my job and there are like 5 of us that need to stay in constant contact with each other while the tests are going on. Some of us are on the first floor of the building, some are on the fourth floor and its way easier to just push to talk rather than dialing every time.

two things it needs
1. widget
2. some type of contact list instead of the pop down menu
thanks OP!!!!!!!!!
any way for me and my buddy to communicate with push to talk? he is on WM and IM on android.

Hi all,
For those familiar with TGPT (http://tomorrowsgaspricetoday.com/), I have written a small app that will check the site for updates and notify you of new prices. It also stores the prices in a DB so you can view the history.
At the moment it only works for Toronto-GTA because I live here and wrote this for me.
This is nothing fancy, it just works.
You can download it here.
Thanks.

Originally I planned on making a widget. But then after I got the notification going I didn't think there was much point to a widget. Since I don't need it taking real estate on my screen when I already know the price from the notification. And once there is a new price, another notification will be generated.
I will try this out! Thanks!!
good stuffs! thanks!
Great start, just installed. Thanks!

This site you list is different than the one for Toronto. The Toronto site shows only a single price since almost all stations in the area are the same price. But your site shows prices for each location.
What exactly would you want to be notified of?

Might be a problem with lock 2.0? Can you try uninstall lock 2.0 and see if the screen still wakes?
Also, TGPT doesn't do anything every couple minutes. Unless you have the debug to always notify and force update every 5 seconds. Even then I don't purposely wake the screen other than creating a notification and toast.
Yeah if go to origional lock it doesnot wakeup but see tgpt running in task manager which should not the case. I check price, kill the app, it starts again in a min also i get error when restart phone for force close tgpt app

crimsondr, I gotta say that I've been using this app close to since you released it, and it has been working great for me being a fellow Ontarian. I did come across one MINOR issue/bug that I never have before, only because the stars (and time) aligned it as such.
I had my Desire connected to my PC in Disk Drive mode, thereby disabling access to the SD card. TGPT tried to fire a scheduled update (once every 12 hours, which is great btw), but couldn't read it's DB from the SDcard, and threw up a Force Close error.
While it's not a huge issue because you have to have your phone in Disk Drive mode when TGPT performs an update, I just think it might be better to have the .db file on the Internal Memory of the device, especially as seeing how mine is currently 4kb in size. This should get around the exception when the SD card cannot be accessed, thereby keeping TGPT from throwing FCs.
Just thought you'd like to know since it's something that doesn't happen very often, but still does cause an issue!
Thanks again for your work and effort in dev'ing this quick, informative app!

I'm intrested in one thing I couldn't find anywhere: can i view 2 programs in the same time? Just like in windows. For example on the left side of screen I can write office doc, and on the right side I can PDF files?
No.........................................
But why hasn't anyone thought of doing this? this would be an awesome feature, and we have the real estate to work with in tablet land. Android limitations that can't be overcome even with root access?
Yes.. so if you want to copy something from pdf to your doc, you must constantly switch programs, it is a bit harder but I think google, or someone else would add this feature soon..

It's not an APP, it's a special ROM that the company will sell to manufacturers - you can't just install it to your device. The beta will "hopefully" offer this rom to certain devices, but there's no guarantee that our Transformers will get it.

Is there any developer out there that have plans for making such an app for the phones as well?
I think that he/she would get donations from a lot of people if they started working on it. There are many programs that do not embed a widget option and if someone could make a widget that could scale down programs an ie put to running programs on the screen in vertical mode that would be soooooo niiiiiiice!! On my Galxy SII such an app would be perfect...
Anyone?
M
The thing is its not really an app but, like stated, a heavily customized OS. It goes back to how these mobile OS'es were devised. Its not windowed because they are assuming you are on a system that wouldn't perform well with multiple active apps and on a small screen where you would need all of the real estate.
There are times when I would wish for it but since apps are cached and not killed (if they are developed properly) its pretty easy to "alt-tab" back and forth between them when needed.

This phone is awesome. I have yet to see any posts showing interest in their phone, beyond changing ROMs like its a disease.
I recently found out I can use 'Six-Axis controller' to connect a ps3 controller to my phone and effectively have a portable n64 console with me. All I need to do now is find a Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Kazooie ROM.
I recently found out about LCD density changing and messed around with it a lot. 180 makes our Skyrocket look sexy. (But now I'm experiencing market compatibility issues so I need to look more into it).
I like organization, so SD-Maid was a nice find and I'm going to learn Titanium Backup to increase my battery life. Just need to find a freeze list.
I found the site My ColorScreen so theming will be a task soon undertaken, as soon as the necessities are figured out.
So come on, share some cool things about your phone. Whether it's a cool Llama task you made, new homescreen setup, an app you think people should know about, a ROM you like (AOKP + CM9, thank you guys), or an important tip you should know (I didn't know Titanium Backup could restore my folder settings in Nova Launcher, that would have saved time).
Be a little positive guys.
Why is it that an incorrect, naive post about an OTA update for Skyrocket can get two pages instantly full of people *****ing about how useless the thread is (then don't reply to it smartass).
While a thread with the capacity to help people find some cool things about their phone gets nothing.
I hear the app "LCD Density Modder Pro" can fix the market compatibility issues. It's a paid app though.
Any more info on the six-axis controller and how to use the phone as a "portable n64"? That sounds interesting!
Edit: Ah, a little bit of googling answered my question about that six-axis controller.. didn't realize it was an app. Makes sense now. Which N64 emulator do you use?
I don't root my phone but I love it to death! I also agree that negative posts get more responses than US news media stories.
That being said I love that flipboard app and I'm going to be buying a new Samsung LED TV. I've heard that we can turn our phones into remote controls for the actual TV, if not yet its on the horizon.
I also use mine for web browsing mostly and I'm looking for a cool app like MATLAB based or something that has Physics and Calculus formulas all over. I hope this thread gets going. Mad thanks to the OP. This is the first thanks I've used.

I currently have a Samsung TV, and it's true that we can use our phone as a remote control, as long as your TV has wifi and you connect your phone to the same network. You'll just need the app conveniently named "Samsung Remote" lol. It's free in the market. Works for their blu-ray players too I think.

Mupen64AE, pulled for free from the developers site here. You just run sixaxis and start the emulator, then map the buttons (less than 10 seconds) and you're good to go. Emulators were always a cool idea to me but they didn't translate well for certain games, but honestly with the analog sticks and actual triggers its a perfect experience.

Ok, this is a really specific question so may not be one you can help with but throwing it out there.
Switched from an iPhone to the S8+ and love it except for one thing. The one app I use daily and intensely is Gymaholic on iOS. A very detailed and customisable workout app that lets me input my individual daily workouts, sync them to my Apple Watch, tweak them on the watch as I workout and then have it monitor my heart rate and reps and sync back. It is a fantastic app. I love it.
I can't find anything similar in terms of quality or features on Android that plays nicely with Android Wear. There was one called Rithmio but it looks like they went bust a few months back.
This is a deal breaker for me and I really don't want to have to return the S8. Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks so much.

Ah XDA, helpful as usual. I don't have an answer for you OP, but I do know that Android is missing a lot of the polished iOS apps. It is very likely that there is no equivalent to what you are looking for. This is part of the reason why I keep both an iPhone and flagship Android most times.
I keep track of my progress mentally, don't really write anything down.
However, I'm sure there are a bunch of apps that would suit you.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), you just have to take the time and do your own research.
A quick 5 second google search and I found this:
It's called -> JEFIT Workout Tracker Gym Log

I'm on a very similar spot as you mate.
I've had my back and forth experiences with iOS, but eventually always come back to Android.
For all my Android years, I've consistently used JEFIT and it hasn't turned me down. It does have its downsides, but all apps do.
I suggest you try it out. On their beta test program (I believe you can freely join to it) they are experimenting with Android Wear support.
Let me know how it goes!

Dunno what your logic is there but I use the app to put my workouts in so that I can follow them on my watch and then if I decrease or increase the weight, I can update it and it syncs back to the phone to tell me when I next come to do that exercise what weight i
lifted to failure. Much easier than a pen and paper. I'm doing German Volume Training right now which is very intense and keeping a log is crucial rather than just guessing by looking at the weights. So yeah, I do lift, bro [emoji23]

Just a suggestion but if I were you, and you REALLY liked that iOS only app maybe you could just get a used iPod touch or something? That way you have a device just for music at the gym and the app you like. The Bluetooth range on the s8 is supposed to be better too so maybe you can use it to Bluetooth tether internet to the iPod. Just a thought.
