[Q] Resistive screen offset problem after replace - General Questions and Answers

I've replaced the resistive screen of an Huawei U8110. I've checked it is working properly entering with adb shell and then 'cat /dev/input/event0' (this is always the screen), and it returns raw data wherever I touch the screen.
The problem is that, with any rom I tested, the screen is displaced about 1cm to the right, so I'm even unable to unlock it! Because of that I'm assuming that the screen calibration is recorded directly in the touch detection chip, so my questions are:
Is it possible to know the chip brand and try to communicate with ti directly to do some kind of "reset calibration"?
Does somebody know if there is any rom with ts_lib integrated, so there'll be an extra layer that enable the user to calibrate de screen in software?

Broken screen

OK, heres the deal..
Yesterday I managed to crack the bottom-left corner of my BA screen (damn medkit shifted onto it in my car glovebox ).
As i was checking to see how much of the screen was still responsive (seemed OK, still usable, only the 'New' button and the bottom item of the menu didnt work) the battery died (as in completely, hard reset died)..
So i plug in the power, and start the familiar initial setup. I get to the callibrate screen screen and am unable to continue..
So my question is: Is there any way to bypass the calibrate screen section of the initial setup? Im pretty sure enough of the screen still works for the device to function, if only i could get past this damned calibration screen..
Clearly i cannot bypass it completely, as the screen does need to be calibrated - but is there any way I can recover my BA?
Cheers All

Also, if you can still see the image it means that only the digitizer (touch sensitive part) is broken, and not the screen so it shouldn't cost to much to replace.
And remember - search is your friend!
This might be a bit toooo late, but just in case some one is stuck with a broken screen as dabs and I were.
I received a k-jam (lucky me, it was for free) with a broken touch screen, it was left uncharged for a long time so after charging it, it entered the unwelcomed welcome mode (you know, align, copy, time zone ...) and there were no way of passing this part of initialization.
I had to do some search over the net, and I found a good article here ((Can I use a PDA that has a broken touch screen)) http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?m=200510 which advised the use of "RemoteCalibration.exe" directly from the pc. This killed the welcome.exe program and I managed to re-use the K-jam again. The only draw back about this way is that I will have to connect the K-jam to a pc every time I hard reset, I hope there is a way to do the same action via mini sd cards.
After that, I installed fakecursor (but I'm looking for a better sw to emulate the touch screen function as this one cancels most hardware buttons on the devise) but at the moment, I'm using all the k-jam's functions.
Hope this would be of help to some one out there

Touchscreen doesn't work properly.

Need help. My ASUS P535 Touchscreen don't work properly. Half screen from the top works correctly, other half you need to touch screen 1-2cm lower to push correct button. Any ideas of fixing this problem?
replacing the touch digitizer ontop of the lcd display is the only way I'd say

[Q] Sensation XE - display not working after waterdamage

Hello,
My phone was waterdamged and stop working completly.
I opened the case and tried to dry it.
after 48 hours of trying various stuff, there is blank screen, but:
1. The phone is booting fine, charging led is working.
2. Using Wondershare-Mobilego, i can backup all the content.
3.The touch interface seems to be working fine, i can see the menus via mobilego duplicate screen (can open the sms box or whatsapp and etc.)
4.Incoming messages keep coming...
I`m so frustrated that i`m using the phone blindly or like remote desktop.
Is it software of hardware fault?
THANKS

After water damage you can only expect hardware damage. to verify - when turning on the device, do you see anything on the screen? you can also reboot to bootloader (via the key combination or via the command adb reboot bootloader (and to reboot back to android use fastboot reboot).
If the bootloader shows nothing, 100% hardware (although there is really no need to check, probably is). You can try changing screen, but the problem could also be in the socket (but I think if it were the socket the phone would not even boot). Worth a try.
Thanks, but no good...still blank screen - no display.
As i mentioned, the phone is functioning well (as seen at duplicate screen).
When you offering to change screen, you mean the lcd touch digitizer only?
I don`t need to buy the screen itself, right?
(I can`t parse outside links yet from ebay)

I mean the LCD itself. If touch is working, the problem is the LCD itself, not the digitizer.
You right, it seems that the touch working fine.
You think that a LCD display screen replacement would be the best try? can you paste a link from ebay please?

Change touch screen size for cracked screen (SP3)

My screen is cracked since few mounths. After the drop the touch screen didn't work for half of the screen, the half, in orhizzontal, where the screen is cracked. Tonight I tried here (Sony eSupport - Electronics - Drivers & Software) panel calibration tool, now the touch screen works everywhere and now it's the situazion is worst then before. The cracked screen press itself and I can't use the tablet. Now I disabled touch screen in device manager, but my SP3 without touch is very sad I want to ask if there is the possibility to disable only part of the touch screen, the screen is cracked only for a few cm, I could use it completely even without that portion of the screen. Thanks.
I doubt you woudl be able to disable part of it, it would be a case of just disabling it full stop as it'll get worse..

Having a dead screen zone. Need help modifying screen size, dpi, and overscan

Hi, I'm having some issues with my opo. So, a few weeks ago, my phone suddenly had ghost touch and unresponsive screen. I fix that by flashing boeffla(is my spelling right? ) kernel and adding some lines in build.prop to fix dithering, and both fix come from this forum. Well, it does fix the ghost touch problem.
But, the lower bottom part of the screen is still not working, including the capacitive key. When I dug this forum, I found that 1 of the possible fix is to insulate/isolate the digitizer with the chassis. Sadly, I don't have the tools(namely hair dryer to separate the screen with body) and have no money to buy it. My questions are :
1. Could I disassemble the screen without hairdryer? And if I could, is it risky? I don't have the money to buy replacement screen either if I mess up the process
2. As a workaround, I try to modify screen size, dpi, and overscan through terminal emulator. To a certain extent it works. But, as the dead zone is the bottom part of the screen, is there any command or way to resize the screen so that the resized screen is from topmost until the part where the screen still work? (resized said screen result is placed in the middle of the screen, so I can only resize it to a small size, it's a bit impractical)
3. If I overscan the bottom part of the screen until past the unresponsive area, some part of some apps are "drowned"(for the lack of better term) meaning that some buttons are not visible (example: opera browser). Any solution about this?
I'm sorry if my questions are noob's questions(and a lengthy one at that, too). Please help me and thank you so much for your help

AFAIK,there's no permanent fix except changing your display which doesn't cost much.
No,only hairdryer won't work, you need a professional heat system to get the digitizer out of the lcd.
I guess the only possible solution I can see is changing your display for the sake of your own good.
It costs only 28 USD.
