Hello,
My phone was waterdamged and stop working completly.
I opened the case and tried to dry it.
after 48 hours of trying various stuff, there is blank screen, but:
1. The phone is booting fine, charging led is working.
2. Using Wondershare-Mobilego, i can backup all the content.
3.The touch interface seems to be working fine, i can see the menus via mobilego duplicate screen (can open the sms box or whatsapp and etc.)
4.Incoming messages keep coming...
I`m so frustrated that i`m using the phone blindly or like remote desktop.
Is it software of hardware fault?
THANKS

After water damage you can only expect hardware damage. to verify - when turning on the device, do you see anything on the screen? you can also reboot to bootloader (via the key combination or via the command adb reboot bootloader (and to reboot back to android use fastboot reboot).
If the bootloader shows nothing, 100% hardware (although there is really no need to check, probably is). You can try changing screen, but the problem could also be in the socket (but I think if it were the socket the phone would not even boot). Worth a try.
Thanks, but no good...still blank screen - no display.
As i mentioned, the phone is functioning well (as seen at duplicate screen).
When you offering to change screen, you mean the lcd touch digitizer only?
I don`t need to buy the screen itself, right?
(I can`t parse outside links yet from ebay)

I mean the LCD itself. If touch is working, the problem is the LCD itself, not the digitizer.
You right, it seems that the touch working fine.
You think that a LCD display screen replacement would be the best try? can you paste a link from ebay please?

OK, heres the deal..
Yesterday I managed to crack the bottom-left corner of my BA screen (damn medkit shifted onto it in my car glovebox ).
As i was checking to see how much of the screen was still responsive (seemed OK, still usable, only the 'New' button and the bottom item of the menu didnt work) the battery died (as in completely, hard reset died)..
So i plug in the power, and start the familiar initial setup. I get to the callibrate screen screen and am unable to continue..
So my question is: Is there any way to bypass the calibrate screen section of the initial setup? Im pretty sure enough of the screen still works for the device to function, if only i could get past this damned calibration screen..
Clearly i cannot bypass it completely, as the screen does need to be calibrated - but is there any way I can recover my BA?
Cheers All

Also, if you can still see the image it means that only the digitizer (touch sensitive part) is broken, and not the screen so it shouldn't cost to much to replace.
And remember - search is your friend!
This might be a bit toooo late, but just in case some one is stuck with a broken screen as dabs and I were.
I received a k-jam (lucky me, it was for free) with a broken touch screen, it was left uncharged for a long time so after charging it, it entered the unwelcomed welcome mode (you know, align, copy, time zone ...) and there were no way of passing this part of initialization.
I had to do some search over the net, and I found a good article here ((Can I use a PDA that has a broken touch screen)) http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?m=200510 which advised the use of "RemoteCalibration.exe" directly from the pc. This killed the welcome.exe program and I managed to re-use the K-jam again. The only draw back about this way is that I will have to connect the K-jam to a pc every time I hard reset, I hope there is a way to do the same action via mini sd cards.
After that, I installed fakecursor (but I'm looking for a better sw to emulate the touch screen function as this one cancels most hardware buttons on the devise) but at the moment, I'm using all the k-jam's functions.
Hope this would be of help to some one out there
Hi everybody!
I'm having problems with my Pocket PC.
It all begun a while ago, when a part of my screen stopped working (didn't respond to touches). So I did a hard reset. Then, it wouldn't pass the Align Screen procedure. So I made a file on the Pocket PC root folder called welcome.not - and it worked, the welcome screen was bypassed.
Now, however, everything on the screen is mirrored. Not the image on the screen but the response to my touches. So when I press the upper right corner with my stylus, it reacts in the lower left - and reverse, across the whole screen.
What I want now is of course a state like before the hard-reset. I can accept a part of the screen not working, but I want something at least to be useable.
I think this would be easily fixed by just running Align Screen, but that doesn't work - it gets stuck in a infinite loop.
Maybe there are some Align Screen "profiles" to place in the windows folder/registry?
I'm using a HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise.
Randor244
might it be a ROM problem?
Maybe, though I think the problem is that the screen is completely unaligned and therefore is totally wierd.
What I think I need is:
1. An application to browse the PPC registry from a desktop PC
2. Sceen align data to put in in the registry (I've read somewhere else that that data is stored in the registry)
Or, maybe I'm wrong
In case it is a rom problem, can I solve it easily in any way?
well to be honest, the first thing i'd do is switch a ROM... unless it's a ROM you got from XDA and is well-known..
if the rom switching doesn't work, i'd download a pda control app like MyMobiler or SOTI Pocket Controller to fix this. maybe you have hardware problems with your screen..
I don't know where the screen alignment data sits in the registry but i'm sure you can find it on this forum. if you manage to change and it still doesn't work... maybe replac ea screen? there's a marketplace section in which you might be able to buy spare parts.. and there are guide on dismantling so you can replace the screen yourself

Well, I havn't got much knowledge on how to do these things... Could I get a brief explanation?
I know what ROM is and so on... but how to switch it... hmm...
I'm sorry, can't help you with that.. i'm not familiar with the iPaq... but I understand that you never switched a ROM so it's probably the original one.. and you shouldn't have a problem with it.
try aligning your screen using the registry.. if it doesn't work.. i'd go with replacing a screen.
Yeah, I would also like to align the screen using the registry - but how? I need to know some values to input, right? And as far as I know they need to be specific for my model
So how?
maybe you can contact HP and ask them?
My Desire S has just developed a weird fault that I'm hoping someone on here can help me with. The display is completely blank at all times (including no bootloader screen), the digitizer is still working as I'm getting haptic response when I press power button then slide to unlock as I can remember where the lock ring is. The phone appears to be functioning correctly (receiving calls, SMS, notifications etc). The notification LED is working, phone connects to PC as get the USB connected tone on Windows, although I think it is in charge-only mode as can't access the phone contents. All else seems to be fine.
The phone has unlocked bootloader and has been sim-unlocked with a code and is running ViperSaga 2.2.0 ROM which was flashed about a month ago. not had any problems with the ROM at all so far so I can't imagine it is a software or firmware issue, however I'm open to suggestions!
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
If the screen is also blank while in the bootloader, you definitely have a hardware problem.

As I feared, thanks mate. Logically it would be the display panel that is faulty if the rest of the phone seems fully functional, would you agree?
If a new screen is needed, would I need a new digitizer as well or are they not matched pairs?
I have the well-known problem with the screen of my HTC. Ever since I changed it after it got broken there is a line slightly over the centre of the screen that does not work. I tried to change the ROM, the RUU, download and load it without touching the screen and many other ways to it... And it continues not working at all. When I connect my phone to the HTC to the computer, when I touch the screen it works randomly, it maximizes and minimizes just by pressing once... When I try the switching on-switching off stuff it gets solved, but the stuff of the line mentioned before. I would be grateful if you could provide me any satisfactory solution.
Thank you beforehand.
Hey guys,
just replaced my screen by myself and it isn't working. It boots and the screen lights up for a few seconds but thats it. So it seems like I ****ed up somewhere. :/
Now I've got some questions for you guys.
1. What could cause this error? Since it's already not working I don't mind taking it apart some more and trying to fix it.
2. Do you think if I send it to the support from OnePlus they will take a look at it?
3. The whole reason I did this was to get my data back. Is there any way to access the data on the phone without the touchscreen? I encrypted it using CynogenMod. USB-Debugging is enabled.
Thank you so much guys, I'd really appreciate some help. This **** is really tearing me down since it was a lot of work.
I did this on my own phone but Idk about OPO. If you use the power+voldown method to boot into recovery (yes ik nothing on screen) then connect a usb and see what happens
If you power it on, wait 5 mins then call it and if the phone rings you should be able to rule out the display and speakers and storage, obvs if the display is still not on at this point it is probably the display.
you can also adb from recovery and or fastboot so you should be able to see it in there if it is still working (make sure you change the phone for a decent amount of hours before you do any of these) If the display is dead its likely its been on for the last day and dead
Sorry for the late answer, really appreciate your help!
So if I connect the phone to the PC (tried it in recovery and in normal mode) windows detects the phone under "Devices" but sadly if I type in "adb devices" in cmd it doesn't detect the device.
But still, windows is detecting the phone so it seems to still function. I booted into recovery and I could use the touscreen and the lower buttons. I couldn't see anything but it was vibrating whenever I was using the touscreen. So it seems like only the display part is broken.
Can't call the phone since it's fully encrypted so I need to type in a password before booting anything (recovery, normal mode, ...)
I'll try to contact the vendor of the display and see what he has to say.
If anyone got any more tips I'd appreciate them. I'm a pretty big noob so I even appreciate "common sense" tips.
I know this may be a "common sense" thing to say, but double check your connections. Sometimes the connectors aren't made properly and a pin could be covered so you can try connecting and disconnecting several times to see if it clears up.
Since the touch screen was registering and vibrating, then it could be the backlight that's broken. Try holding a flashlight at an angle and see if you can make out anything on screen. If it's the backlight, then you can probably back up your data in case your phone does end up breaking.
reconnected everything multiple times and also tried the flashlight trick. sadly with both no luck
but something good:
adb recognizes my phone in "recovery"
bad news: no commands work, most likely because the phone is encrypted. if I enter a command nothing happens, it looks like its loading forever.
any ideas?
Hey!
I also had the same problem after I replaced OPO's screen about one year ago. The replacement screen was from ebay.
I could see the Cyanogen logo but after a few seconds the screen became black. Booting into recovery mode worked well.
On the video also ROM boots well but the screen stays black.

Eventually, the screen was defective and I returned it and bought new one.
