[Q] Wi-Fi Stuck; keep saying "Saved" - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S III Korean Version (SHV-E210S).
(NOTE: I HAVE NO CELLULAR CONNECTION)
Before I rooted my phone; Wi-Fi was working just perfectly running on NA2 (Jelly Bean).
Then I rooted it, installed CWM Recovery and then I installed Unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Custom ROM by Temasek.
Then while setting up CyanogenMod, it asked me for an account. It told me to sign up for an account so I pressed on sign-up. It asked me for an internet connection. I chose my Wi-Fi, and I entered my password. It just says Saved and when I tap connect, it shows Connecting... for about half a second and it still says Saved.
I have rebooted, have tried a factory reset/cache reset/reset dalvik and still not working....
I have also tried a different random password and it still says Saved. Does the same thing.
When I try it with different routers, still same.
Also, when I connect, I am right next to the router, signal says Strong. I typed password and changed to "Weak" signal.
Any help?
Thanks

Seems like a bug on your ROM, have you tried to report your problem to the developer?

solution
hi friend,
goto settings/wifi/ there you long press your wifi connection
then a popup window opens in that select "Modify network config"
in that tick "show advanced options"
in that you can see "ip settings" click it CHOOSE "static"
there set the ip address(192.168.1.5),gateway(192.168.1.1), network prefix length(24),DNS 1(192.168.1.1) ,DNS2(4.4.4.4)
then save it no it shows connected
or you try installing another rom it may me a bug:crying:

Ensure that you downloaded the correct version for your phone. Korean phone may not play nice with non-Korean roms. Also, try reflashing the rom.

Do you mean by wiping the phone and then reinstalling the ROM, then kernel, and the Gapps or just install the Rom, then kernel, and the Gapps without wiping?
(or do you mean just wipe -> just install rom or no wipe -> install rom)?

I think the kernel is included in cyanogenmod. I didn't think you needed to flash a kernel. Try reflashing without the kernel.
1. Check your downloads against their md5 values.
2. If that checks out then try reflashing everything, rom and gapps. (No kernel)
3. If that doesn't work, do a complete wipe and then reflash everything. (again, no kernel)
4. Try flashing a completely different rom (or an older version of cyanogenmod) and see if you have similar issues. If so, it may be a problem with the phone itself.

No Service On Atrix 2 When Installing Custom Roms

Sorry if Im not posting correctly, I've used this site a lot for research and whatnot, but couldn't find anything on this topic. So whenever I install a custom rom that is not ICS, I have no data, and barely any service. I installed NUMA and that has been working great, but whenever I try any Jellybean Roms (Carbon, Avatar, Pac-ROM) I have the issue with data and service. I have no idea if I'm installing them wrong or anything, what I usually have done to install roms (and it works with ICS), is to open the Boot Menu Manager while the phone is booting, going into recovery, then preform a factory reset, after that I install the Rom from ZIP. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, it'll be greatly appreciated.
Check the apn settings
Settings > wireless and networks (click more) mobile networks > access point names
If this correct, try to disable sim card pin lock on stock ics system

When I checked the Access Point Names list, there is nothing in the list, should there be something?
Sorry if I sound stupid, I am completely new to rooting.

Hello,
Did you perform a full wipe (Data/cache/dalvic) before you flashed a custom rom? Which rom did you flash?
Head over to the recovery and wipe the above things I have mentioned and again flash the rom and then the gapps..

Could you please share the link of the rom? From where did you download it??
If you have performed wipes correctly and flashed the rom successfully, I don't see any reason for it not to access connection(2g,3g)... You're using the kernel which came with the rom, right?
Gapps means Google Apps... You need to flash it after the rom flash usually...
I'm having the same problem! I just flashed faux kernel with ParanoidAndroid and I can't get any data connection

I believe they are correct. I tried the APN settings which looked correct that were already there, and I even tried deleting out all the APNs and recreating T-mo LTE one that I use.
I tried reflashing back to stock and I still cannot connect.
I popped my SIM into my Nexus 4 and it works perfectly, but not when it's in my Nexus 5.
Well I figured out my issue, it's super embarrassing.
I had replaced my battery because it wasn't holding a charge well anymore. Apparently the antenna on the volume button side of the phone wasn't pushed down all the way (i think it got unhooked when prying open the cover).
The reason I thought it was software was because I flashed all this stuff right after I put the cover back on. Lesson learned: change one thing at a time, will make troubleshooting easier if things go south,

Did you try inserting a different sim? May be it's a sim card problem??

Tab 2 P3110 stuck at "Saved, Secured with WPA/WPA2

So, after I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 for my Tab 2, it cannot connect to my wifi. I flashed it with the proper procedures, like wiping Data and Dalvik cache, I've installed the Nightly builds to try to eliminate the problem and they kept crashing, so I reverted back to 10.1.3 and still no connection. I've reset my router and made sure that my password was right. Now I have no clue what to do next
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I've just signed up today.

Have you tried other ROMs? I've never had any problems connecting to WiFi networks on my p3100 running CM11. I have that issue too on my Ideos X6 phone, but only sometimes, which I think is caused by cheap hardware anyway.

Charge your tab to aprox 70% or more and Try this:
1-download a STOCK firmware file from the internet for your region( the region thing is not necessary, but just for the sake of it )
2- boot into recovery
3- wipe data/flactory reset
4- wipe cache
5-wipe dalvik
6-format /system
7- boot into download mode and flash the STOCK firmware file using ODIN.
i am assuming you have used ODIN before in this case... if you have not, then:
1-download ODIN ( http://samsung-updates.com/Odin307.zip )
2-make sure you have the correct drivers installed
3-connect the device ( in the text box, it should say added)
4- click on the pda option and select the firmware file ( make sure ONLY auto reboot and F.reset time are checked )
5- click on START button to flash the file.

I don't think its a ROM related issue. There must be some issue with your router itself... try resetting your router and change WPA/WPA2 password once...and reconnect again with new password. give me a feedback so that i can help you further.

I reset my router, disabled TKIP encryption and disabled the MAC filter. I live in a house with 5 people so i don't think they would be happy with me doing anything else with the router. I'll try again at my friend's place and see if i can connect to his WEP connection.

I don't think you would be able to connect to WEP networks..as android versions >2.3.7 does not have access to those networks by default....but you can give that a shot.

I also changed the my encryption from WPA to WPA2 and used Wifi Manager from an apk. The one from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager
It came in a apk that i moved to my tablet to install. Still doesn't work.
I'm losing hope.
I am having the same issue for about a week now. It does not appear to be router related, or software related either.
We have two P3113 tablets in the house, and when mine went wonky - set my daughter's with same software and her's connects without issue.
Rooted, not rooted, stock recovery or custom. Stock software from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 and custom ROM's as well. Currently running CM 11 on both. One connects while the other does not
I think it may be hardware related

Your problem might be related to duplicated mac addreses. Could you check if both tabs have different mac addresses.
This also counts for all others, check if there are no other devices with the same mac.
When I was building CM for both my Xperia L & Tab, they both got the same mac address because they where build on tbe same host.

Mac addresses are different. There is an issue with the IP address on the one that does not connect. It is blank by default, and manually inputting the address does not help

No mobile data Connection with correct APN

Hello,
I am using my OnePlus One (64GiB) several days already but today i expierenced a total no data connection. It connects to WiFi and uses the Internet with no problems but if it comes to the mobile data connection it can't connect to the Internet while I have full network shown on the upper right corner. I can call and send SMS with no Problems. This Problem appeared just today and i called my service provider and they say that there is no problem with there network availability and I should check my APN settings which I checked and they are correct. Then the customer consultant said it could be my phone.
I inserted a SIM card from another service provider but it also does not connect to the mobile Internet connection.
So it seems to be that there is some faulty settings on my phone or even an defect. How can I fix that?
Thanks in Advance.

That's strange! It seems like a very random glitch then, which often seem to fix themselves as randomly as they occur.
Have you tried rebooting your device, turning off/on data? Also, in Settings>Mobile Network Settings, is your preferred network type set to LTE, or the highest that's there?

Ok, and the "Data Enabled" checkbox in Mobile Network Settings is checked? And you are positive APN is all correct?
If yes and yes, then I'm not sure what could be the problem, considering how it WAS functioning previously. I would just suggest to keep rebooting and fiddling with the Network settings, such as turning off/on data, verifying APN settings, checking Network Operator, making sure SIM is properly inserted, etc.
I wish I knew exactly what was wrong, but I'm not sure.

Hi,
I have the same problem. I only had the phone for three weeks now and two days ago internet stopped working in the middle of browsing/watching you tube video. Did not start since even though I've tried several methods (except factory reset, as I want to leave that one as last resort.
Is there any other way than factory reset to fix it ?
Do you all have franco kernel installed?

I lost the internet connect when I installed CM12 Nightly -> thought it was a bug in the ROM and sorta lived with it.
But when I reverted to 11-S I realized that the internet connection didn't work on that rom either. I've tried everything factory reset - Soft/Hard - reset -> flash other rom's on it. EVERYTHING!!! -> I also tried a couple of different SIM-cards none of them worked, I tried to contact my ISP, they couldn't help me, they said I had all the right settings so it's most likely something with my phone...
I've got no idea on how I can fix it. and would love if anyone could help me sort this problem out -> I don't have any important data on the phone so we can reset it as much as needed...

I did ask One Plus about it, they send me this zip (re-uploaded) http : // www . mediafire . com / download / rmuaie7f8ch5dji / ONEPLUS % 2BONE - StockRecovery - Windows . zip
(can't post links yet) which I then ran to fix the problem. just be aware of that it locks your bootloader again, if you don't want it to lock your bootloader edit the .bat files and delete the line which says "fastboot oem lock" and you should be good to go (worked anyways for me).
Thanks a ton this really was Helpful.. I guess OnePlus One has a glitch 11.1 and now also with 12.1 CM.. Will try Factory Restore and will update.. Same thing happen with my Frnd in India.. who switch between SP's. He had to restore to fix the internet issue.
I have had the same problem on one of my oneplus 2's. One phone works fine. The other phone was working but is not connecting to Internet using data connection. I have checked the settings and they are exactly the same as the other phone which is working fine.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 11 nightlies wifi issues

Hello,
I'm new to posting on the forums but here is my issue. I am currently running cyanogen snapshot M4 and I tried to upgrade to the new nightlies. (the other builds m5 and m6, crashed when i did a reboot) The issue with the nightlies is that everything is fine except the wifi. When I enter my wifi password and press connect, it says connecting... for a long time and just resets and continues this in an endless loop. Although open wifi networks work fine. Is there a fix to this? (Currently running CWM-touch recovery on my Moto g)
Using M6+ nightly, wifi is fine...

I can't comment directly about your problem since I had no problem with using any of the builds that I tried but, wifi works on M6 and later nightlies for me.
Did you try a full wipe before re-flashing?

Is a full wipe = a factory reset and cache wipe/davlik wipe through clockwork mod. Also M5 and M6 crash when I do a reboot saying com.google.systemui is not responding. I think it has something to do with the themes. But the nightlies work fine except for the wifi. I can connect to open networks with the nightlies but secured networks do not work.

Philz recovery has a specific wipe-in-preparation-for-flashing-rom option (forgot what it's called). Anyway, a full wipe will wipe system/data/cache partition if memory serves.
Try setting a static IP and connecting to a secured network that way (i.e. no DHCP). I read about a bug in an unofficial CM11 M10 build that meant DHCP-with-WPA2 didn't work. Might be a workaround.
Edit: The static IP needs to be in the address range of the secured network you're trying to join for this to work
