Problem after installed the third party ROM(cannot use the mobilenetworkGSM, 2G,3G,4G - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear all,

Anyway, I was rooted and installed the other roms but I found that I cannot use the mobile network anymore (even I checked the APN)
I hope the experts in this forum can give me some ideas to fix this problem
thx very much

Hello,
Did you perform a full wipe (Data/cache/dalvic) before you flashed a custom rom? Which rom did you flash?
Head over to the recovery and wipe the above things I have mentioned and again flash the rom and then the gapps..

Could you please share the link of the rom? From where did you download it??
If you have performed wipes correctly and flashed the rom successfully, I don't see any reason for it not to access connection(2g,3g)... You're using the kernel which came with the rom, right?
Gapps means Google Apps... You need to flash it after the rom flash usually...

I'm having the same problem! I just flashed faux kernel with ParanoidAndroid and I can't get any data connection

Bump, any ideas?

I believe they are correct. I tried the APN settings which looked correct that were already there, and I even tried deleting out all the APNs and recreating T-mo LTE one that I use.
I tried reflashing back to stock and I still cannot connect.
I popped my SIM into my Nexus 4 and it works perfectly, but not when it's in my Nexus 5.

Well I figured out my issue, it's super embarrassing.
I had replaced my battery because it wasn't holding a charge well anymore. Apparently the antenna on the volume button side of the phone wasn't pushed down all the way (i think it got unhooked when prying open the cover).
The reason I thought it was software was because I flashed all this stuff right after I put the cover back on. Lesson learned: change one thing at a time, will make troubleshooting easier if things go south,

After rom flash, flash the carbon gapps: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23311191640114013
Double check whether the network/apn settings are entered correctly...
You've followed all the steps correctly m8.. not sure what's causing this problem...
Did you try inserting a different sim? May be it's a sim card problem??

GApps not working with CM7 ROM

I installed the CM7 port and the GApps, but my Google apps don't show up. I've tried reflashing the ROM and the GApps package over and over and clearing all the caches to no avail. Help?
you have to flash GAPPS separately. refer original post of CM7 thread and you will find the link
That's what I did. I flashed the ROM then I flashed the GApps, but they're still not showing up.
Ok that's weird. Can you pinpoint the exact steps you performed from download to copying to erasing to booting up? Each and every step please.
Sure thing.
I downloaded the ROM and the GApps package from the ROM's thread and stored the files on my desktop. While the downloads were going, I booted my phone into recovery and mounted the USB storage. I then plugged the phone into my computer and copied the files over before ejecting the USB device and unplugging the phone. I then wiped the user data, the cache, and the Dalvik cache and flashed the ROM, then, straight after, the GApps. I wiped the user data again just to be safe then rebooted back into the OS.
After it didn't work the first time, I downloaded the GApps again and copied them to my phone again, this time within the OS instead of the recovery. Rebooted, wiped user data, cache, and Dalvik cache, flashed the GApps, and nothing.
Not being sure if it was the ROM or the GApps package, I flashed the MIUI beta then flashed the GApps (using the same sequence of steps mentioned above) and it still didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be specific to CM7.
Ok try these steps:
1. Download the ROM
2. Download GApps from here: http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
3. Wipe the big 3's (user data, cache and dalvik-cache).
4. Flash the ROM.
5. Flash Gapps.
6. Boot without erasing anything.
I followed your instructions exactly but I still have the same problem.
Interestingly, if I go into the list of installed applications in the settings, Market (but no other Google apps) shows up but it's greyed out and I don't have any options to run it or anything.

Crap. Something's really not right. Can you give it a try with the SuperOSR ROM? Need to see if it's specific to the CM build.
EDIT: Can you try searching for the Market .apk file around the forum and install it manually? It should be somewhere in Themes&Apps section. Give that a try before trying with the SuperOSR ROM. Wipe, re-flash ROM, flash Market.apk, reboot.
Reason: the gapps provided by CM team are old (v2 market) and it might be that Google does not support v2 anymore since they've switched to Play Store. (not sure).
I did try with the MIUI ROM and the same thing happened, I don't think it's specific to your ROM build. Perhaps my phone just doesn't like Cyanogen's GApps package? No idea why that would be though.
Anyway, I did as you suggested and installed an APK and it worked! I found this one on Redmond Pie and put in the SD and installed it with the file browser on the phone. Seems to work fine so far

Awesome!
While you're here, a bug I've noticed that's only popped up on your ROM is that, when I turn the phone off, sometimes the orange light stays on and the phone's completely frozen up until I pull the battery. It's only happened twice but I thought it might be something to look into.
Other than that, it's very good! I'm enjoying it, keep up the good work

It's a CWM based problem. Update your CWM recovery to the latest one from the CWM thread in the Dev section and you are good to go.
Way too many CWM's in two sentences..
I'll do that now, cheers
Glad to know you are up and running, but it's still quite strange. Every time I flashed CM7.2 (it it was quite a lot of times GApps were there, Market included. Just running the Market app would actualize it to Play Store automagically.
Of course, as Alex says, it may not be supported by Google anymore, but still you should have gmail, etc from the zip file even without a working Play Store...
The issue was probably related to CWM, if you have an old enough version it could be messing up with the zip internals, but sometimes it's just anything else... (I installed the first CM9 alpha rom w/o problem, the second one wouldn't install, one week later, doing exactly the same with the same zip file, it installed flawlessly)
It may also be related to the specific terminal, I have noticed that depending on the device type (country of release, free or network operator locked, and so on) terminals behave a little bit different in some aspects (e.g. my GPS stopped working after unlocking the bootloader and was only fixed when I reflashed the radio firmware after getting S-OFF; and now, with the CM9 alpha, my keyboard won't get backlight while it's dark outside but adxl's is working fine, which is bad for debugging purposes, of course )
If you could make a backup and install SuperOSR and see if everything works fine the first time (even if you go back to CM afterwards, as I did) it may help to understand the issue better... Or maybe just posting your phone's specific data (model, build, country, etc) may give us a hint.
We know that free UK terminals are somewhat different to Spain free terminals, and those are a bit different from Orange or Yoigo locked terminals... It may be related to hardware batches out fro the factory, who knows?
Enjoy your ChaChaCha!
I think the problem was my CWM in the end. After I upgraded it (that alone included some trial and error, eventually the fastboot method worked) the GApps zips worked fine.
So if anyone else has this problem, check your CWM version and upgrade it if you need to
Can i Upgrade CWM without any change of my current OS ?
i actually couldnt go to Market after i flashed GServices. I downloaded newest Google Play in HTC Chacha apps, installed it and it work until now (of course wit GService flashed before).
Btw, how can i check my current CWM. Thanks!

Hello there!
I've came by to add my issue, similar to yours.
I was on CM7 too and wanted to try the SuperOSR ROM. I used the common steps for flash it (all cache Wiping and factory reseting, ROM installing, Gapps installing), rebooting my phone, connect it with a Google account, launched Gmail and then when I've arrived at a certain level of my mails, the app crash...
For the Google Play app, I've got a server connexion error...
It's like if all the Google's framework was here but totally not stable...
I've tried with an another ROM, the MUI ROM and everything works...
Like I said, I came from the CM7 ROM wich was working...

Hi, I registered in this forum just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was searching for that appropriate GApps for the CM7 I installed previously with the GApps for Ginger Bread (not the same with this link you posted) and it gave me a headache too. I tried flashing for 3x & the Gapps were not working. Then I tried this link and VOILA! Now my smile is from ear to ear.. so SALAMAT! (Tagalog word for THANK YOU). I'm from Philippines anyway. I bookmarked this page for future reference. A million thanks to XDA Developers and it's helpful members & thanks for welcoming me even I'm a noob..:laugh:

You need to use a one click to go back to stock and then reflash the CM9 Rom. Seems you might have some old files in the system taking up precious space. Check out the link below to return to stock

Sounds like after you install cm9, wipe everything, and reinstall again.
Reboot to recovery
"Factory Reset/Wipe Data"
"Mounts & Storage" -> "Format /system"
Go back to the main menu
"Install zip from sdcard" -> select the cm9 zip file and install it.
Install the gapps for ics
Go back to the main menu
Reboot
After you install and login to google so you can get to the play store, install alogcat.
Please document which apps you install, or any settings you set.
If it happens again, and you can reproduce the problem, start alogcat before the problem happens and post the log to http://pastebin.com/ or http://pastie.org/ and put the link here.
Also tell us what applications you have installed and what settings you enabled/disabled.
The more details and information you give, the better we can help you.

STUCK IN ROAMING... need help!!

Hi all,
Last night I flashed to hells rom from miui rom, once the flashing is completed i am stuck in roaming
1. IMEI is not corrupted.
2. tried *228 .. but its not working (pop at bottom saying sim is activated, change the roaming settings)
3. flashed back to stock using odin.. still dint work .. still at roaming.
open to suggestions, please adivse.
Data is working but no calls/sms, correct? This happened to me I had to ODIN to an ICS ROM and enter the reprovision code into the dialer. I forget what it is but a google search will surely help you find it.
WARNING: doing the reprovision will wipe your internal memory (external SD will be safe). If you have anything on there you don't want to lose back it up!

(using my LiquidSmooth rom as base; you'll have to find your settings)
go into settings >more >mobile nework settings >newtwork mode and insure you are on LTE/CDMA/EVO
> CDMA Subscription (settings?) and make sure you are in RUIM/SIM
reboot, clear cache, dalvik, and for good measures, throw in a fix permissions, and you should be in business.
like i said, not sure where your settings are in HELSROM, but should be similar.

HellsROM is based on the 4.1 OTA, so those options will not be available in settings. The OP could try flashing a 4.2 AOSP ROM to go through the steps you listed, but will probably have to reprovision from an ICS ROM like many others have had to do in his situation. Me included

Issues with performance and connection

Hi guys,
since a few weeks I have problems with the performance of my HTC One XL running, Venom XL 3.2.8. The CPU load is often on 100%, for both cores, only after a restart, it works better.
Another problem is the pulldown shortcut bar, sometimes I can see it, sometimes it is disappeared and I have no idea how to get it back, after some time I can see it again. I have not changed anything in the settings.
I also have problems with the connection with mobile internet, errors and connection breakups.
Has anyone else also these problems or has an idea how to solve it? I am very satisfied with this ROM, very good work, but only these problems are going on my nerves^^
Thanks for your help.

If you haven't checked the md5 prior to flashing, make sure to check the MD5 of your rom with an md5checker on your PC
Copy the rom over and reflash.
Should work fine after.

You can backup apps but not system apps or system settings.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Well yeah the reason he's asking you to download a different recovery is so you can do a full wipe and start fresh. You'll need to full wipe and flash your ROM again.
Because TWRP 2.5 has issues with wiping and flashing, that's probably why you're experiencing the problems you have now.
Just use Titanium Backup to backup your apps.

Ringtones, notification, music and some gallery albums are missing

Hey guys, I'm having a problem here.two days ago I had a problem with my play store which would not open, so I thought of flashing my ROM and gapps again in hopes of getting the problem solved. I wiped my cache partitions along with my system partition and flashed it, everything went well, play store started working again but this time I got a couple of different problems. My ringtones and notification tones are missing, when I click on the options for changing them there's just one option (none). My music player can't read any music files, even though I have many of them. And gallery has some albums missing. I was on cm12.1 and I flashed to liquid smooth v4.1 in hopes of fixing the problem. But the problem still persists, what should I do to fix it. Please help me on this one.

Im new in all this rooting and flashing.and yeah i read some forums on this issue and i read that restoring an old nandroid backup might solve the problem. What do you say, should i try doing that?? And yeah one more thing, do you think that some how a rom can slow up the cellular data speed?? Cuz i think after installing liquidsmooth my data is kinda slow even on lte.

Hmm i don't know that for sure,i only knoe that on some rom's my wifi works better or worse
About your problem : i never had this kind of problems,i had a google play problem once, but after reinstalling gapps it was gone, although im on the latest bootloader and modem : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347759102
I can't find my guide for flashing it so i can explain a bit :
-Download odin 3.09 on your computer
-unzip modem.zip
-shut down your phone and pull the battery out
- in odin untick auto reboot
- put the battery back in and go straight to download mode ( home, power and vol up i think,if not that vol down ^^ )
- in odin put the modem file in the 'cp' slot or what so called ( it should be cp but better look it up )
-Start flashing and wait untill it's finished ( green button lights up )
-Then reboot your phone and under phone info it should be allright.

Yes it is. Resurrection Remix,Blisspop,CM12 by temasek, euphoria os,AICP and liqiudsmooth are all aosp,in the threads of the rom there usually is an indicator of that the rom is like. Touchwiz roms for examble are often more than 1gb files where aosp are only 200-300mb. But the battery on touchwiz for me often is a ton better.

Ok...well i figured out that the cellular speed issue isdue to the Carrier server problems.so flashing the modem is not necessary i guess? My current baseband version is N9005XXUGNG1. And just out of curiosity, say i flashed the arter kernel and later on for some reason i want to change the rom like i go to cm12.1. The kernel version will change automatically right?
