Hey guys! I have a quick question over here. After I have rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005) International LTE model, I've found out these two things:
1. Previously, after I root my phone and keep my stock recovery, my device status show "Custom" no matter what I do with it.
2. Right now, after I root my phone and flash a custom recovery: CWM, my device status show "Official".
Can anyone help me to understand why this would happen? Thanks!!!

Are you using a custom root rom? Most have it normalized or you can use xposed to make it official too.
dont forget the thanks button if I helped out!!

That doesn`t matter as the KNOX warranty void is tripped anyway, unless you rooted with Root de la Vega while you had a JB rom. You can also use Triangle Away to reset the staus.

Hey! I'm actually using stock rom. Problem is that, previously, I've already rooted but without flashing the custom recovery, it appears that my device status is custom and I couldn't change it using any Xposed modules. But, this time, because I have a CWM recovery in my phone, and the Xposed modules work. My question is, is it because of the custom recovery, so, the device status now shows official?

hi guys, im new here
just have a few questions
i have a bell samsung s3 model SGH-I747M , i have android version (stock) 4.0.4 , i have rooted my device
however, i want to update to jelly bean 4.1.2 , i was wondering, do i update using the stock software or will that cause my phone to trip since it is rooted? or do i use a jellybean update made for rooted devices? should i even update? or use the ROMs for the current version ?
also, what is the best ROM for s3? is there one where u can control CPU usage on board ?
thank you
anybody :/ ?
Well if you like stock unroot your phone and put stock recovery back on to get the ota update. You need stock recovery to get it. So if you haven't installed clockworkmod or twrp recoveries and are still on stock you're fine, just unroot. You can always reroot. If you'd like to try custom ROMs go to search your phone up top and you'll find ROMs made for your phone.

Ok. qbking77 on YouTube probably has a video out showing ya how to do it depending on your model of phone. Just search his videos "how to flash stock recovery" and "stock jelly bean" with your carrier varient. they are the easiest to follow. Make sure its your carrier or youll brick your phone. Once you flash a stock ROM that specifies "not rooted" you won't have to unroot.

When you install stock ROMs your phone will no longer be rooted. Some roms were created with root pre installed. So if you use them you will have root. If you want to update your phone with an "over the air" update, you will need stock recovery And a stock ROM . But if it were me I would just keep custom recovery and find a rooted stock ROM to download. Sorry I didn't reply sooner

I installed a recovery before unlocking the bootloader... Is it possible to temporarily bypass the message so I can get my files? If not, will using Odin to flash the stock firmware delete any personal files/files made by Titanium backup?

Boot into download mode, and hit volume down instead of up to boot into your stock rom.
Are you on 4.1 or 4.3? If you don't know post what it says in download mode. There's an easy fix if you're on 4.1.

Current firmware is official 4.3. How do I unlock the bootloader so I can flash a custom ROM?
EDIT: Did some searching around the forum. Is it even possible to flash custom ROMs on official 4.3?

You can't unlock the bootloader, and there's really no way for you to pull the files either unless you use adb to pull files from specific locations.
Your only real fix is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319
Then read all of this so you don't flash anything that will brick your phone again:

Be careful with downloading xposed modules for the wrong Galaxy s3 version. When I used google to search for the very specific VZW s3 version of an app it through a thread at me for the wrong version (it was for sprint's s3 I think) and I nearly bricked my phone. It wouldn't let me unlock it. The touch screen just wasn't working and when I turned the screen off the whole phone kept rebooting. Luckily I was able to use odin to fix it.
Good luck!
hey guys, this is just a package made with my "Rickys Rom Kitchen", will root any android device with a working custom recovery!
Note: all i did was make this universal and make it a flashable zip.
So, you know the drill, your warranty is now viod, flash at your own risk blah blah.
How to root?
1. Flash philztouch recovery or any supported recovery for your device with odin - INSTRUCTIONS AND DOWNLOAD HERE
2. Make a nandroid backup from within philztouch recovery
3. Flash my universal S5 rootkit INSIDE PHILZTOUCH recovery - DOWNLOAD FROM HERE(PhilzTouch)
4. (OPTIONAL) install busybox from playstore and download my Samsung Tool app and backup EFS! - DOWNLOAD HERE
Thats all.

Any word on sim unlock ?!
regarding KNOX
sorry, don't want to turn this thread into a discussion, but it feels appropriate to ask here;
once Knox is tripped, can it be re-instated?
I don't mean reducing the counter back from 0x1 to 0x0, erasing all evidence of a rooting,
rather, just allowing the device back to a secure state.
Even SM-g900a?
So this universal root method will also work on the AT&T varient?
Samsung galaxy S5 SM-g900a?
can someone confirm this working?
Will this work under Canadian's carrier?
Failure on AT&T
I have tried multiple versions of ODIN and I am unable to flash this recovery.

Have you tried to push it through adb? Sometimes that method works when Odin fails

Hello, two days ago I rooted my Nexus 5 and unlocked the bootloader. Yesterday I wanted to install custom rom, I decided on Slimkat, and when it was installed, I didn't have root permissions. I've never seen a ROM without root. I've tried all the usual ways of rooting, but I can't root it.
Do any of you know how?
download supersu http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
boot into your custom recovery, then flash supersu. reboot after.
you have to flash the superuser binaries whenever you flash with many n5 roms.
you'll also need to enable root access in the Developer options.
...all in the slim FAQ mentioned in the slim thread

Flashing SuperSU is like... THE way to root... you're lucky you haven't been eaten alive yet by the community. xD

I still can't figure out why they didn't just include SuperSU in the ROM zip file. Having to flash another zip to have root seems silly.

Because it's compiled with superuser in the settings menu like many other aosp roms. You only have to activate root by turning it on in settings

You need to uninstall Xposed first, before upgrading. Refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/info-nexus-5-ota-help-desk-t2523217
Just download the full rooted stock ROM in android development and flash it without wipe from recovery.
It's actually fewer steps anyway.
OTA = revert system changes, boot recovery, flash, re-flash recovery, re-root
Rooted stock = boot recovery, flash
No brainer really. Flashing an OTA if rooted is a fool's errand

Nope. It's just flashing an entire, rooted ROM. You will have to install the Xposed framework again but the Xposed installer, all Xposed modules and all their data will remain intact
