Paranoid Android 3.99 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am currently running PA 3.99 on my HTC One and when I asked in the PA google hangouts I get lol's really. If you have a rom on your device and it works good and all the features you want why change. I since bricked my HTC One and bought a nexus 5 and love it. My question is was there a Paranoid Android 3.99 or the latest that still had the hybrid and pie mode? Any help would be great I have been looking till my eyes bleed so I had searched.

Dude, pie is already included.
Hybrid is still a work in progress to get the new version done. The only other thing missing from the current version is halo which is being reborn as something else.
You will not find a 3.99 for the n5 because 3.99 was android 4.3. This phone never had 4.3.
You say you searched but the change log thread literally covers every feature available in the current version. The change log thread link is the first thing on the ROM thread.

That help a lot looking for something that never was I had it on my nexus 4 as well but no longer have the phone. I thought with the nexus 5 I would have had a lot more rom's with these features already. I guess kitkat makes it more of a challenge. Thanks for the reply.

PT-5113: Multi-user support

Hello everyone. I know android 4.3 adds multi-user support, however as I've found out over the past week each device has its own rom's (before I thought it was like an OS, one OS to rule them all).
From searching, I found that Cyanogen Mod 10.1 supports multi-users and that I'll probably need a multi-user app share from the app store to make everything work.
Right now my device is running stock firmware (4.1.2 I believe, it's upstairs charging), so I'm wondering what my best bet would be:
1) Find a custom ROM like CM 10.1 and go from there
2) Wait for official 4.3 (I believe I shouldn't hold my breath for this?)
3) Find a way to get 4.3 on the device now. I've seen some people have signatures that mention they're running 4.3 on it.
I kind of know how to do the first, but where can I find a feature listing for custom roms? Everything has been jumbled and confusing. I'd rather be taught to fish then just given a fish. Also is there any advice/recommendations on other rom's out there? (I'm not asking for the best, just a few to take a look at if there isn't a global list)
I have no clue how to do the third. I recently (this week) had to restore a Galaxy S2 phone and I put a good 30 hours before getting it to a state where it's usable. My biggest problem ended up finding the proper rom to use.
Thank you.
CyanogenMod 10.1 is stable and is what I recommend you use. CyanogenMod 10.2 is running 4.3, and from the majority of reports is usable as a daily driver! Don't count on seeing an official 4.3 release ;]

I've been using PAC ROM. Pretty nice if you know what you're doing. More of a learning curve to get it set up just how you want it, but once you do it's great.

Thanks, it looks like my best bet would be to wait for 10.2 to get completed and then throw that on there.

miui version for S3?

Evening, I'm new to the xda forums though I've been looking here for years on and off but have a question so thought I would register.
Ok this should be simple enough for you guys to answer so here goes. Been using miui for a few months now and it's brilliant! by far the best rom I've used on my S3. Though what would be the best version for the s3 currently? I have the latest version running at the min (3.10.25) and it just seems a little sluggish, not sure if I should drop back down to an earlier build?
Also I'm having trouble with the auto update feature in miui, rom manager chucks some error at me (forget now what it was) and wont update. I have to manually down the latest version and flash normally. And am I the only one who finds the themes wont work with the notification bar, mines solid black.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great, sorry if there is a miui section on the forums I have missed, thanks.

Question about cataclysm / ROMs in general

Hey all. I had the n5 a while back and at the time cataclysm was running great. I moved into a note 3 and within a month or so I really started missing my n5. So now I'm back. I see theres ALOT more ROMs and the cataclysm thread was locked. I flashed beanstalk and it's AWESOME but final fantasy dimensions and ff5 aren't working. PLUS, other games make the device hot enough to Fry an egg. So my question is kinda twofold: 1) will cataclysm (last updated in DEC of 2013 still work, and 2) what ROM out there has a great amount of customization but still runs games well?
Thanks so much.

1. Yes
2. Try them and find out what you like

Cataclysm got closed because it was just people continually posting about where the dev was. It's still fine. The download link is still the latest version 4.4.2 so if you wanna use it, do

1. Cataclysm has and will always work. The customization based in Cataclysm ROM are essentially those that you can't get with apps. So things like LED notification, you will have to find a 3rd party app. However, there are other useful customization implemented like a fifth number row on AOSP keyboard (the 5th row of numbers can also be resized). Sometimes customization can be a bit of a hassle but once you finish it, you won't go to another ROM. Some features just grow on you I haven't switched ROMs in ages (or rather I went to try other ROMs but i went back after trying it for 5 minutes).
2. I believe Final Fantasy is just a layout issue and more of an app problem maybe? But at any rate, the Nexus 5 and its Snapdragon 800 has pretty much current generation hardware. It can run anything fine (so long as the app is coded properly and not poorly like Gameloft apps are).

Help upgrading from old cataclysm rom!!!!

So when I get my nexus 5 for Christmas last year I rooted and loaded cataclysm and didn't look back. Now with these new versions of android I feel like I should upgrade. Is there any benefit to 4.4.4? what would you suggest is the best aosp/stock type rom.I was also thinking about L, would that be a bad idea to use as my main rom? I was reading a lot of the threads about it and it seems pretty stable except for a lot of rom compatibility

These threads aren't allowed, it's up to you to find one that works best for you. And don't take Android "L" as if it's a consumer release, it's a developer preview.
As said above, we do not allow threads asking for best ROMs, kernels, ...

[Q] Worth it to go to Lollipop now?

Well, I found CM11S on the OPO a bit limiting so I've been rocking Slimkat 4.4.x since I got it (had it on my Nexus 4 so it was a natural transition.)
My question is...anybody think it's worth going to a Slim style ROM that is Lolli based? I'm using one on my Nexus 7 now (Slim as well maybe) and find it nice but nothing crazy convincing me to go to 5.0. That and it seems to be missing a couple features (customizable quick tiles, etc.) but not sure if that's the case on the OPO.
Any feedback from other 5.0 ROMs that people are using is welcome too. I'm just familiar with what Slim puts out and have loved it so far.

I'm on EuphoriaOS, I can't seem to find any features that are missing from CM11S (other than theme engine, there might be a couple more, although I can't think of them, because I don't use it, and very minuscule). Whether you want to upgrade or not is up to you, we can't tell you if you want to upgrade.

Oh believe me, I'm not asking for concrete advice on upgrading. Just seeing if LP is worth the upgrade right now. I haven't seen too much of a difference that would justify it and I see a few missing options but I'm admittedly only basing this off of a Nexus 7 ROM, hence the question.
Thanks though. I do miss the theme engine (not one for Slim) but otherwise have been very happy.
