S5 not liking certain chargers? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My S5 does not seem to like certain chargers that previously worked (and still do) with my S4.
It will give a beep when plugged in and the light will indicate charging but then it will randomly beep again as if being unplugged and plugged in again. If I have the screen active, the indicator will go from the lighting bolt indicating charging to the normal discharging indicator and then back again.
I have tried different cords as well to no avail.
This also happens with a power bank battery that will charge my s4 with no issues.
The official Samsung charger works flawlessly of course, as doe an old Treo charger that I have.
It is not a current thing because I check that with the Galaxy Charge app and it shows more than adequate current.
Does anyone have any thoughts other than the obvious (using only Samsung chargers)?
Thanks

Samsung i780 Charging Fault!?

Hi,
Can't seem to figure out whats wrong with my i780 so was wondering if anyone here has experienced similar problems.
My i780 don't seem to charge anymore when using the charging plug (plug it in, no charging light or charging symbol.. etc..)
Plug it in through USB, phone charges fine (charging light comes on, charging symbol displayed)
Now, I thought, oh must be the plug, so I tested it using the charging case... charging light comes on battery charges fine!!??
I would just forget about the plug but I can't seem to get a full charge just through USB.
So if my phone charges by USB, plug not working on the phone, but works with the charging case what could be wrong???
Anyone have any suggestions?
my i780 always show charg icon after upgrade...what the probem??????????/
i had the same problem as you. i sorted it out though. Do you mostly charge through the external charger?
i just kept on leaving it on charge for about an hour or so. Soft resetted the phone while on charge and then it worked fine. LED went on and the whole lot.
Try to charge your phone at least once a week with the battery in the phone. I can't prove that charging almost exclusively through the external charger does this but i have a suspicion. That is the only unusual thing about my usage pattern.
Has anyone had the same problem

Gingerbread Charge bug workaround

I just figured out that the infamous Gingerbread charge bug (where the Cappy starts discharging as soon as it reaches 100%) only happens for me when plugged into the original Samsung charger.
When I plug my Cappy into a cheap-o replacement charger (also 700mA) - eureka, problem solved, the phone stays at 100% indefinitely. I've verified it a bunch of times and the different behaviors on the two chargers are perfectly consistent (meaning each charger always acts consistently).
So if you suffer from the charge bug and you're using the stock Samsung charger, go get yourself a cheap replacement charger and see if you get the same results...

I only get that when my phone is plug in to my computer.
I'm not sure that buying another is a reliable workaround. The charger that you bought is probably continuing to charge even though your battery is already full. This ultimately is harmful for your phone and battery...
I'm not sure where I found this out (it was definitely on XDA somewhere), but what has worked for me is turning on WiFi before plugging in my charger. For some strange reason, that has worked for me. If you have the charge bug, try turning on WiFi before you charge and see if that works!

My s3 is losing battery while plugged in.

Ive been using my s3 for about 40 minutes on CM10. Plugged into a dual usb charger connected to not ip port, which in the past i have used fine. I have lost 5% battery in this time. Current widget doesn't work yet with S3. Suggestions?
Edit - The first time I got the phone after a full charge and discharge, while plugged into stock charger and before anything root, the same problem happened.

From what I heard, the charger can't charge the phone fast enough when you are using it thus the losing charge while plugging in. If you are talking about losing percentage right after you disconnect the phone from the charger, that is a feature, I do not know at the top of my head why it does it.
If charging through USB port (and many car chargers) you're capped at 500mA vs 700+ for wall chargers. You can install a kernel that supports fast charging and you will get 700mA through USB.

I'm having the same issue whether charging from usb or a power outlet. Charges for a bit initially, then drains. Happens with different cords, too. I'll pick it up and it will feel warm, see that the battery is lower than when I plugged it in, then put it down. Then it cools off and starts charging again. Any ideas?
Same here except
i have the same issue, i had stock Touchwiz and suddenly the phone started to discharge while on charging outlet, tried different chargers, outlets, different ports, etc. still wouldnt work, i even deleted several applications and turned off several phone functions, etc. still nothing, then i rooted to CM10.1 and the same issue still presists, the phone charges a bit then discharges weather i use it or not. the only solution to charge it, it seems to be by turning off the phone. i think it has to do with the usb port on the phone as i even had the battery changed and it still would discharge while on a charger.

[Q] Wireless charging issues?

Hi
I brought a Samsung wireless charger. The first few days, it worked flawlessly, but today when putting the phone on at 27%, when it hit around 85-90%, it started saying "Wireless charging have stopped" even tho it still charges. It's annoying, cause the screen light up, it vibrates and I get notification about it, but it starts charging right after?
Do you think this is a phone or wireless charger problem? Also, will this hurt my battery in any way? I mean if I leave it overnight, would it hurt the battery that the battery start charging, stopping again and then start again? This is around every sec or so.
Thanks in advance
Sometimes, that charger is finicky. You need to position the phone just right, and if it slides a little bit, it can start connecting/disconnecting. When it does that, try just picking it up and setting it back on the charger. I try to put just above center on the phone over center of the charger.
samsung S Charger Wide works
I bought the Samsung S Charger Wide qi charger, it predates the S6 round charger. It's also cheaper, although it does not come with a plugpack or USB cable. It needs a 2A charger (such as the one which comes with the S6). It charges easily even with the Samsung S View case in use. This older charge is about the size of Note. It has a slight lip making it harder for a phone to slip off.
does wireless chargers is fast as the fast charger provided?
No. It is a lot slower although the difference is much greater if your battery is very depleted. The performance gap is lower as the battery charges because the fast charger 'slows' down.
It's charging at 927mA according to GSam Battery at about 80%. That's not too bad.

Wireless Charger - Pauses / Flashing Blue

I have an S7 and the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless pad.
It has been working for a couple of months, and now suddenly it will not charge.
When I put my S7 on the pad it initially starts to charge, and then I get a message saying "Wireless Charging Paused" with a blue flashing LED.
I have googled around and for the S6 people mentioned that putting the phone in "daydream mode" fixes this problem, but I dont have this option on the S7.
Has anyone encountered/solved this issue?
For anyone else having this issue...
I googled around and tried 10 different suggestions, none of which worked. A lot of people seem to be having this type of issue.
Then, I unplugged the USB cable from my wireless pad, waited a few seconds and plugged in again. VOILA. That worked.
Sometimes the answers are so simple....
I also have a Samsung Fast Charge Wireless stand with the Samsung fast charge wall charger and cable that it came with, and a Galaxy S7 Edge. I have never had this issue before, but since upgrading to Nougat a couple of weeks ago this seems to be happening frequently (wireless charging paused). I tried removing the slim case (which I never had to before), rebooting the phone, vertical or horizontal, and it had no impact. I also found that unplugging the wireless dock and then back in again fixed the issue. I don't have this issue with the older non-fast Samsung wireless charging pad (small square one). I am guessing there is some new battery/charging protection in Nougat that is a bit buggy and causing the stand to wig out until unplugged.
This happens to me and is why Smasung makes the worse wireless chargers ever. Won't ever go near a Samsung charger again. I bought a new and cheaper third party wireless fast charger and it charges every time with no charging paused issue, so there's obviously quality control issues with Samsung chargers and they never seem to fix the issue. People need to save their money and buy anything but a Samsung charger
Wireless Charging of Samsung 6 edge+
I got a Samsung wireless charger a year or so ago and at first it worked fine. After a while I got tired of walking across my office every time the phone rang. I moved the wireless charger from the Samsung wall charger to a USB port sharing device on the computer. Admittedly I never looked at the notification on the phone when it chimed, I assumed it was charging whenever it chimed. It took a while (I must be slow) but I started noticing that the phone was not always (or perhaps ever) charging. However, It also didn't seem like it was chiming each time I put the phone on the wireless charger, like I wasn't putting the phone exactly where it needed to be. When I moved the USB plug around in the socket, the power chime was going off and on. Even when it gave the chime indication that it was properly receiving power, I (finally) noticed the phone showed "Charging Paused". I assumed it was due to a plug problem on the adapter. To solve that problem I moved the USB cord to a direct port on the computer but kept getting the "charging paused" message. Out of frustration, I moved the wireless charger back to the Samsung wall charger. Immediately the phone chimed and indicated that it was charging normally. So perhaps the power from the USB port is not high enough to consistently charge the phone through the wireless charger?
Solved
I had this same issue with my Samsung wireless charger.
For anyone having the issue, here is the solution that worked for me.
