ASUS TF700 no response - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi everybody,
I was on twrp f2fs mode 2,7
Last time i used cromi-kk f2fs internal
I installed over cromi-kk a cromi-x 5.4 with hunds extreme tweaks data2sd
Tottaly forgot to reinstal normal twrp reformat internal memory.. So i had that screen encryption failed,
I restarted my tablet to fastboot, and it hang up, after like 5s turned off automaticly, and since then stopped working.
I plugged in to charge and went to sleep ( for about 6h). Battery indicator was green when i waked up. tried to turn on unplugged, no reaction, tried to keep it 5 - 10 - 30 - 60 - much more seconds, no reaction.
Then with volume button and power, no luck, tried reset still nothing. (no vibrations, no nothing, just dead)
I tried connect to a pc, pc doesnt find tablet
Any ideas, please help

So i was playing around some time with my tab again. Tried to do stuff, still no luck, possibly i bricekd or i fried the motherboard ? Before 6 hours i left to charge and still is red light (charging indicator).
May somebody help me ?
Should i try to discharge somehow ( i do not know how, maybe by pressing power button, and stuff)
Or should i try to charge like for day or two to wait, maybe it will turn back on in twrp or fastboot at least ?

Latest news so far, i charged the dock, then i connected with tab, and puted in charge with charger, so there was a while ( for about 16 hours) and the light on the tab is till red, no reactions still.. So what should i do, maybe somebody knows some tricks or anything at all. Charger works fine.

Have you tried a hard reset? Little hole near the SD card, insert a pin or small paperclip, there is a button inside that will force a reset when the external buttons don't work.

You said early that you fully charged the tab (green light); then you said it later went red. How did this happen when you couldn't turn the tab on? If either the battery or the charging circuit is dead, then the tab won't get any juice. But how did the battery discharge itself from full to nothing without anything drawing a current?

i have got no idea, what happend, but today, my tablet, after some i think "coma" state turned on. after some game with twrp, i am able to use cromi-x 5.4 again.
Before person asked, and i will reply yes i tried hard reset button, i tried every single holes and buttons, hdmi and so on.
It just came back to life. (plus charging is fine, because my dock charged up, but tablet didin't, and now i can see it, it charges up again)
I do not understand what happend. Point is , im able to use it again.
Thanks for help

[Q] Battery indicator always showing question marker, level at 0% all the time

Hi, I just received my Transformer yesterday, and I'm having a great time using it. However, it seems i have a show stopping problem. When i first took it out of the box and powered it up, the battery indicator in the lower right showed some charge; when I touched it to bring up the expanded view, it showed the battery as being at 39%. I had an update available, but it wouldn't let me install it without being at 50% so I plugged in the charger. The battery level percentage kept going up until around 49%, then when I would pick up the transformer to check, all I would see is the battery icon with a question mark in it at the bottom right, and when I bring up the expanded view it showed the battery level at 0%. I was able to install the update by putting it into airplane mode and then putting it back into regular mode, somehow the battery meter went true and allowed me to install the update. However, I'm back to the previous problem and the airplane mode trick isn't working. The transformer KNOWS when the charger is attached, because when I remove it, it says "please connect your charger" because it thinks the battery level is at 0%, then I connect the charger and the message goes away. I also check the battery usage graph and it shows that it's being charged. I also used it for a couple of hours last night off the charger and I had no problems. I need to know if this is a software issue(fixable with an update) or a hardware issue(where I need to send in for a replacement). Any help is appreciated, thank you.
First, paragraphs.
It certainly sounds like something is amiss. But before contacting Asus or your retailer I would power it all the way off (hold the power button until the power off screen appears) and charge it for 8 solid hours as per the instructions. The power control circuitry may need that full charge to determine what is fully charged and set the appropriate values in the firmware.

I'll give that a show tonight and see what happens. Anyone else face this problem, or has heard of it?
I am having the same issue, battery meter has a question mark on it and it does not show the real battery strength.
Best solution is plug in immediately after removing from box to fully charge battery. I would plug in, turn it off and let it charge for 6-8 hours then do a reset.

Thanks, tried it but still the Battery Meter has question mark on it...
if battery was not charged enough, it may have mis flashed the update. Flashing a fw update requires a considerable amount of power. might get update follow directions to add to memory and manually install

Didn't understand this part...
Also another issue is that it does not detect my Dock, however when its docked and the dock is connected tp PC, i can access the files on Transformer.
I have even flashed with Prime 1.4 using the nvflash released by Rayman but still the battery icon has question mark on it.
I have these same issues......but my Transformer was working fine for ~1 month before it started. Did OP find a solution?
Bump
I just got this a couple of days ago. I was using the tablet as normal, when it suddenly turned off (like if someone cut the power).
I thought the screen turned off, but could not turn it back on.
Tried to hook it up to the dock, but only showed red battery logo then.
When hooking up to computers USB port, nothing is registered. When trying to turn on the tablet while connected to computer, the screen flashes ever so quickly like it doesn't get enough power to turn on.
If I hook it up to the power charger, it turns on fine, but only shows the questionmark in the battery icon. Status for battery in settings is "Unknown" and 0% (alternating between discharging and charging).
When hooking the dock up to wallcharger, it shows the green light (95% charged). The wallcharger obviously works, think it's the trasformer that crapped out.
Any ideas? Haven't tried the hard-reset or cold-boot yet (power + down for 10 secs) will do when I get home today. Who knows, I might be lucky
I fixed it by letting it die then recharging it completely (without use)

[Q] Bricked --> Battery Drain

Hi all,
So my transformer is bricked... completely been trying hard reboot, APX mode, holding power button, HDMI output the list goes on.
My only final resort is what I've read is draining the battery down and trying to recharge it? (Just need some confirmation here please if possible).
I've kept it in the dock, what I've noticed is, in the morning it was green LED now its gone to the amber so something is draining the battery I"m hoping I can get this down to 0.
How long do you guys think with both dock + pad and most likely on standby. Not too sure of the issue here
Anyway, I'm really reluctant to send this back to Asus RMA because in short:
1. First time I sent it, it got returned like a squeaky box. Every where you held it you heard a creak like it was about to snap. They didn't fix some things, and more dust ended up in my camera lens... + had to pay postage..
2. Half fixed, came back with wrong firmware (TW --> US). Could never update ever again, so microsd card updates FTW. No way was I planning on spending an extra month sending my TF back and forth... I paid extra to get the first batch B40 lol.. They replaced everything inside my TF motherboard, screen, Inside LED!?, buttons. Close to the works..
This happened right after I upgraded to ICS, it was the US stock rom booted up fine. my apps were updating, and as everyone else was saying about how some apps caused ICS to slow down I wasn't aware so I thought I would shut it down and power it back up. Since then it's not been able to come up ever again... Any suggestions?
What do you think?
Thanks in advanced.
One other thing, could someone check.. when tablet is docked and OFF. Do the usb ports still work?
Right now, when docked but "bricked" I can still charge my phone via USB.. If someone could test this that would be much appreciated as that could at least eliminate that my TF's battery is dead, right?
get it off the dock, hold volup+pwr, count to six and leave it for a couple of days. You can test if it's empty when you plug it in your pc via the cable. If you get the device plugged sound it means there's still juice there - unplug and press again volup+pwr. when you unplug it from the pc the tab shuts itself down.
if you don't volup+pwr before you plug in the usb it won't turn itself on. but it turns off automatically at unplug, as I said.
after the battery is down, plug the tab to the charger. I don't have the dock so I can only speak about the tab itself. Don't know why, but it works for me everytime. Hope it fixes yours, then, if possible, root and flash something.

Hi there,
Thanks, I'll that a try.
It's definitely charging and discharging, the battery brick is warm.. I've never had to connect my tablet to a windows PC. Today I did, it didn't make a sound.. Do I need to fully charge to be able to turn it on?
Normally not. I plug mine to the charger, I don't remember if it stats or I have to press power, when it boots the battery stays at 0% for several minutes.
Sorry for the late reply, did you manage to wake it? It's a long procedure of waiting mainly and can get annoying.
I'm still trying, earlier you had a thread about it poping up through the computer. What was the command you used in Linux?
Windows gives me nothign even when there was power in it.
Thanks.
Thank you sooo much!! It finally has powered back on, I hope this doesn't happen again.

[Q] Shuts down completely when not charging

I posted this to another similar thread but they have solved their problem but mine is not solved.
A little background:
It was most recently upgraded to the the newest OTA and been stable since then. The unit is nearly 1 year old B50. So I know all about holding the power button down for different lengths for different purposes. It is NOT that. Until two days ago, everything was working fine.
First, I couldn't turn it on. I thought since I was travelling and using it a lot, it just ran the battery down. So when I got to the hotel room, I plugged it into the wall charger and it turned on. I was relieved for a while. Then I checked the battery (dual battery widget) and it shows 86%. When I was leaving the room, i pulled it off the wall and bam...it shuts down completely. Curious, I plugged in the charger and it boots back up (asus logo and whirling circle). I decided to leave it plugged in all night.
The next morning, I pulled it off the wall and bam, complete shut down. I plugged it back in and check the battery status. Still showing 86% and I notice it is not charging. I check the battery summary and it shows, battery = unknown error.
I did the hard reset (with it plugged in) VolDown/Power sequence. No luck. I decided to wait until i get home to test further.
At home, I plugged it into the dock. Widget shows the base battery is charging but the tablet is not charging. (it turns on when plugged into the base). It stays on even after I unplugged the base from the charger but the moment i remove the tablet from the base, it shuts of completely.
At that time, I decided to do a complete factory reset. After the reset, it is still having the same problem and dual battery widget is reporting the same unknown error problem.
In summary:
1) The unit will not turn on if I don't have the power cable plugged in.
2) When the cable is pulled out, the unit turns off and will not turn back on
3) When the cable is plugged in, it turns on and work just fine
4) When I put it on the keyboard dock, it turns on and work just fine
5) When I pull it out of the keyboard, it turns off and will not turn back on
6) I have soft reset, hard reset and factory reset (all with power plugged in) because nothing will happen without the power plugged in
7) Battery status shows 86% but not charging:
--When plugged into the wall
8) Battery status shows 86% but not charging while in the dock.
--The dock battery shows that it is charging and the light on the dock is green
I have tested and knows the charger works and the dock battery works.
The main unit battery will not deplete and will not charge and will not keep the unit running.
What do I need to do? Any thoughts? I would greatly appreciate some help.
Are you rooted? and did you try to clear the battery stats?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en
you can use that to clear your previous battery stats, and may help with getting a better reading on whats wrong. a messed up battery stat maybe messing with the charging process.
No, it is not rooted. I have just reset to factory settings again. But I might take that route soon if I don't hear from Asus. Is there an good detailed instructions for rooting my TF101?

you can start there. i got rooted when it was in HC didnt like the stock feel, so went to Prime Rom( honeycomb builds) the dev kept it close to stock but with some tweaks to the kernel. was a bit afraid to root at first, but just read through the tutorials, and just did it.
anyways Good luck!!
OK, nothing else seems to work. So, I am trying to go down this rooting road and using the battery calliberation tool.
As I was reading through the instructions, I find the build version supported is much older than mine (9.2.1.21) so, unless i am reading something wrong, this will not work.
Anyone has any other thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Yes.. Didn't change anything
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
Did you charge using pc or wall charger? That can make a huge difference. Try charging overnight with wall charger. Mine usually comes back to life after a few minutes at wall charger. Pc just doesn't charge quick enough

2 things you can try.
- the reset button at the SD and sim slot. Its a white square far at the left (display facing upwards).
Press and hold it for 10 seconds or so. (Don't press too strong)
But that didn't ever do anything to me, as I once tried to reboot at recovery mode with it.
- wait, wait and wait until the battery is empty (as it's not easily to be taken out). Then connect the stock standard wall charger. Wait for 15min. You can check what happens, but don't touch the phone.
If the led remains red, you can try to power it on, but chances is that it still doesn't work.
If everything else happens, you might be lucky (the led might not be red again).
Good lluck
I'm always curious if a thing worked, leave a message if success or not.
Hey,
after days on the charger i get following:
Phone charges for about 10 seconds.. screen goes on and so and then it stopps, fashes the red led and starts again. i believe the screen takes to much energy at this stage of charging.
i also know what happened.. at this night my phone showed me a looooong time 50% battery.. and it went off.. so the battery drained to much and i dunno how to get it back to work right without giving it back
i can enter fastboot but adb cant conect.. so i dont know how to make a backup other than this..
Sounds like your charger or your cable are faulty (at least, hopefully it's that)
With the wallcharger it should charge quick enough to not go off again.
Definitely try a different charger and cable, if that fails i recommend you claim warranty because then it's probably a hardware failure.
Chargers were all okay, tested them with my i9305, but with my Z3 they didnt work.. just a loop (Charging Loop i will call it yaaay)
I went to o2 today, they took it without charger or else and will repair it.. they gave me a S3 mini for this time (my s3 lte doesnt take any sim cards anymore x.x)
so, hardware failure i believe.. but it was the new 5.02 lollipop.. so be careful if the battery stucks at certain point!

Not Charging or turning on. - my fix

Hey guys, this may or may not help anyone or may or may not have been posted but saved my arse when I thought my phone was fubar
Basically the phone died on me when charging with 20% juice left. It just would not turn on or charge, tried multiple cables, seeing if recognised in Pc, trying to power on holding different button combinations etc etc and still nothing.
Anyway, next to the sim/sd card slot is a little yellow button. Stick a pen, screwdriver or whatever in there and hold down till it comes alive (took mine about 35 seconds). My phone turned on at 100% battery and all data settings etc as it was, so it looked like it was actually charging prior with no indication.
Hope this helps anyone and sorry if already posted.
@Adster013
I came to here to write same thing After washing my z5, i wait 4-5 hours to charge again. Tried to charge but no luck with travel charger or pc. I opened TWRP, wiped cache and dalvik.. Then i push the yellow button 10 seconds. Phone vibrates.. Then put into charger, it starts charging :/
IP65/68 means NOTHING!
I'm having probably the same problem, but no mater how long I hold the yellow button the phone doesn't show any indication of waking up. I'm wondering if it from the last update I receive last week. I have opened a thread about it here with full explanation https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/responece-idication-z5-black-screen-t3610295
