Best equalizer? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

What's the best equalizer for this phone? I was trying to use viper4android but it messed up the speakers on my phone (don't really know how though...)

Just turn off speaker eq in Viper
Sent from my Vipered M8

Any new ideas for the best systemwide EQ? I use Google Play Music All Access and I'd like to have some control. I am s-off rooted on a stock rom.

What's wrong with BoomSound?

...it's not an equalizer? On the One M8 you don't get the EQ settings that are built in to Google Play Music (at least from my experience), I assume because of having Boom Sound (whether or not its enabled).

There's no equalizer on board. You have the option to toggle Boomsound audio on or off with the headphones on. You cannot disable the feature when playing through the speakers.
Strangely enough only one of the HTC One (M8) units we got to play with turned out to have a built-in FM radio. The European version comes with an FM Radio receiver and an FM radio preinstalled, while the Verizon unit lacked an app. It's anyone's guess whether the hardware is still there and has been disabled (meaning that it can be unlocked with some sort of mod) or if it's gone altogether.

It's not anyone's guess - the hardware is there, and you can sideload the app (I have it on mine, works perfectly). No root needed, just install the APK.

Playing music through Mono Bluetooth Headset

I just bought a bluetooth headset today. Just a simple Mono one. I cant get my phone to play music through it for some reason. It will work fine for phone calls though. I can get it to play music through my laptop so I dont think the headset is incapable of playing music through it. Anyone try playing music through bluetooth yet?
Its this one here...

I'm not sure it can be done natively by the phone, I stumbled across an app which might be worth a try for you, I can't post links but if you search the market for BTmono you should find it, there's a free version on there.

What are the steps you take to play the music on the M100R?
In the HTC player you can choose which output device you want to use...
In Standard it is "HTC Sensation" - click on it when headset is connected and it should showup there...
M100R is capable of "Headset V1.1 (HSP)" bluetooth profile - so it should work...
- mwie -
Oh yes I found it! When playing music you hit menu, then go to select player and it will show you devices. Problem now is that when I select the bluetooth device nothing happens. I will select the device, click done, and then if I go back into that setting the phone is still selected. Not sure why its not letting me output through bluetooth :-/
Check the Bluetooth settings when connected - maybe you need to activate Audio streaming there...!?

+1 for BTmono. I'm a little biased though
Btmono works well. Just wish quality was a little better. Oh well! Any advantage to the paid app?

Live FM radio on atrix 2 (no data needed)

I just tested it and it works like a charm.
https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5tb3Rvcm9sYS5mbXJhZGlvIl0.
Yea, that's the one I got.. I actually use the one on my mp3 player most often though.. npr all day in the background at work.
FYI- there's also one in the stock "My Music 2.3.6" app. But I froze that one because it kept popping on in the background, and it gets rid of the at&t music store app too..
Thank you for details, as I was wondering what could be best way to follow NPR in phone(especially when i don' have wifi)..just one question what headphone recommended?

You can find your local station that plays npr here: npr.org/templates/stations/stations
The radio apps should work without wifi or data, you just need to plug in your headphones (they act as an antenna). And any headphones should work, or get a double ended 3.5 mm jack and listen through your car or computer.
Another option is to get a cheap mp3 player with a built in fm radio..

But how is this different from the built in FM Radio on the Atrix 2? Try the one on ICS, still better. Can be listened through the spk phone as well, with hd phones plugged though.
It's purely a radio app, meaning that it's not having to run the entire music app just so you can listen to the radio. I don't know about ICS (as I have been lenient to upgrade), but on GB I actually noticed a significant battery increase when I used the FM radio app as opposed to the built in app.

Route Notification Audio through Bluetooth

I have a Sony Bluetooth Car Stereo BT MEX 3600U. If I get a call the stereo will change the CD or FM Radio to the ringing for my phone, I would like to do this with Notifications as I need to know when I get a text. I'd like to also be able to do the same when I am using Google Maps Navigation. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to know. I may also use it for part of my Software Development Degree.
I second this. My Honda Civic's bluetooth does the same thing. It notifies when you get calls while listening to the radio, but you have to change input to bluetooth audio to hear message notifications and GPS. I would love to hear turn-by-turn GPS while using the radio.
Though I feel like it's something on the car's side that has to change.
IDK, I would have thought that you could merely spoof the phone into thinking its recieving a call or it may even be a simple case of channeling the Audio through a different output. I can't see much detail online but hope this thread may get some answers.

Been researching. Sounds like the car stereo has to be bluetooth stereo audio and hands free compatible. But most car stereo are only hands free compatible.

Possible answer but not fix. I know it's for an iphone but it seems like it's the same problem.

In order to overcome the "handsfree mode only" you can use the BTMono: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5iZWRvaWcuQlRtb25vIl0.
hmmm thats very interesting but it seams like I just need to force the Audio not to pass through A2DP and instead Use the Phone protocol.
If someone has an APK of the BTmono App It would be very helpfull as Google has locked me out of my account on Playstore
It seams the exact same problem as my stereo will play my phone music if it it set to BT Audio Input. However, It will Always play phone call ringtone.
Edit : After a little research, My Head Unit utilises A2DP for Music, and HFP (Hands Free Profile) for Phone and ringtone.
If I can Modify the route the Notification is sent, from A2DP to HFP then it will work perfectly.
Why has this gone dead !!!!
I've gotten a new stereo about a month ago and everything comes thru my radio even when I have it on Pandora mode it dims he music and my navigation thru the phone comes thru plus my notifications and ringtones that I have set in my phone its a JVC kd-s79bt... Is there anything I can offer to help solve I'm running venom 1.20 and zrboz newest kernel... You can control the head unit thru an app called smart remote its for JVC or kenwood decks with Bluetooth maybe the apk can offer some insights???

That's interesting I might have to see if It is worth buying one of these for my car, Far less effort
You guys are right.. I connect my phone to my ford sync focus and my phone rings but no notifications... Making an app would hurt would it

Microsoft Windows Phone 8 can do this
My friend has a Nokia Lumia 920 running Microsoft Windows Phone 8 and his phone does this. His car actually says "In Call" when his phone reads notifications to him (and then waits for spoken commands to act upon them).
Why can't Android?

Bluetooth Audio Control But No Sound

I'm running Altered's/my AOKP, and use my phone with my car (tried in multiple cars actually) stereo, which is actually an aftermarket head that worked fine with my phone before. It will connect over BT fine, and I can control my music with the buttons on the radio, but the sound still comes through the phone speaker. By this I mean, I can hit play and skip songs with the radio, but the sound plays out of the phone, not the car. any ideas?
Yea.. I never quite got to the root of the audio issues - and its probably the same in all of my source-built ROMs..
At one time I forced things to work - like the ability to make in-call volume adjustments, etc.. And now I can't get by without using pre-built audio files (libaudioflinger, libaudio_ext, etc.) - or maybe that's just for the non-kexec versions? Or maybe that's right and the issue lies elsewhere..
I'm curious, does this problem exist on mokee? Doubt it.. But I think he uses those same pre-built audio files..
I will build you a kexec version of aokp soon, and make a nice local_manifest... Then, I'm giving it up to you

Best Free Music Player that doesn't hiccup on local media?

One of the quirks of our idol 3 is that when playing music from sd card it occasionally hiccups which can be very annoying. I'm told that Poweramp has the ability to "adjust audio priority" and get around this issue. I'd like to know if there are any free players that can also get around this issue? It's VERY annoying in the car both for music and audiobooks.
i listens to songs everyday to and back from work but yet to hear stuttering with default player. could it be sd card?
saw the other thread your on bluetooth. havent tried that yet.

Guess I need to plug some headphones in and listen for a while to nail down bluetooth as the contributing factor. Thanks for the reply!

It may be a Bluetooth issue. I had the exact same issue with my OnePlus One when it was connected to Bluetooth on my Pioneer FH-X700BT stereo in my car. That is a good description of the audio playback "hiccuping". I actually have never tried using an Aux line from the audio jack to this same stereo, but I don't recall it skipping during playback on headphones, but I don't use headphones much either. I have an Aux cable at home. I'll try it later or maybe tomorrow and let you know what I find.
Just found this on Reddit about the same thing happening to others using Galaxy Note 4 and other phones when using Bluetooth as well.

I use MixZing for static MP3's and I like it. I use Pandora One for streaming audio and love it. Listen everyday. Speaking of Pandora, they just updated their app this weekend and they returned the lock screen widget! I think it was not included on the lockscreen within Lollipop? My KitKat phone had and still has it.

Interesting.. I have the same unit in my car and have experienced this as well. I noticed it would do this with my LG Volt when streaming Spotify on BT. I haven't really tested it with this phone yet so I'm not sure if the issue will still be there. I'll have to check it out.
I read some articles indicating you can either 1) keep screen on or 2) keep wifi off to prevent the skip. Something about bluetooth priority dropping while in sleep mode.....now they may be on to something...the battery saver I use doesn't keep wifi on all the time but it does occasionally turn it on to look for familiar hotspots to connect to....it's possible my skips are occuring when wifi is coming on.....another user reported calls had issues as well on bluetooth when wifi was on.
I listen to media on my sd card through headphones and speakers and I'm still noticing the stuttering when WiFi is off. I have noticed that it's a lot less frequent after the update though.
I use n7player, and what I found out about it amazes me.. The actual sound is better with this app than any other on stock rom, and I tried over 20 players including poweramp, shuttle (similar sound q with no folder search in free ver), equalizer+, google music, jbl music app and all the apps you can find in google play store from 0 to 100 in top section..
The menu is intuitive with name chose method, and also looks nice.. Features like equaliser, play on when headphones plugged in, etc are also here..

Interesting. I'll have to experiment with this a little. I used N7Player for awhile a couple of years ago, but I didn't like the excess of it and all the files it left strewn in every audio directory I had. Mostly, I use Music Folder Player Full and have most of the time over the last few years. It's clean, simple, to the point. What it doesn't offer, I don't want, anyway. But I don't think I've compared audio quality between different apps.
I may install Viper 4 Android on a different phone and see what that does. That's not a player, of course.
This phone + viper4 + music app in your choice is a win combo.. Just wondering if we ever get viper4

I've flashed installable zip's of viper4android on some of my other devices....as long as you take a backup first there shouldn't be any issues.
Viper 4 A works on idol3, before that you have to change build.prop lines, selinux to permissive and istall busybox.
EDIT : Now can used without selinux set to permissive, just flash the zip trough recovery

I had this problem with my OnePlus One device and the only thing that completely fixed the "hiccuping" was to go to Bluetooth and disable "Phone", only having "Media" selected. It's like it was receiving interference from the phone via bluetooth.
