I leave my Nexus 5 plugged into the wall when I sleep and for some reason... lately when I wake up the battery is still not charged. The charge symbol is there... but its not full. Not sure what is going on.
Battery usage meter says its an app called LINE but I turned did a app info -> force off on it already...
I mean it does charge some times... but for some reason it doesn't over night lol.
Anyone having a similar issue? I hope 4.4.3 rolls out soon...
try rebooting the phone, or turn it off while charging.

Happens randomly when charging. What does it mean?
Charging fault. Happened to me when my battery was way too hot.

So best course of action is simply un plug? I get this too during heavy gps usage or heavy streaming via flash.

Yea unplug and let it sit for a while. If you are in your car, best thing that I found you can do is hold the back of the phone up to an AC vent for a couple minutes. If you are home or somewhere with a charging port this I found worked.
ONLY TRY THIS IF YOUR BATTERY DOESN'T FEEL LIKE ITS OVERHEATING.
This happened to me about 2 weeks ago, phone said overheat but the battery and the whole phone was cool to the touch. What I did was turned the phone off, popped the battery out, plugged my phone in to the wall outlet, then popped the battery back in. Started to have the solid amber light that it was charging. After 20-30 minutes of that, booted the phone up and it charged like normal and said that temp was back to normal again. If you follow this and boot the phone up right after you pop the battery in, you will still get the charging error.
It's charging just fine, but it doesn't show that it's charging. Running GT-P5100 CyanogenMod 4.2.2.
Keep in mind that it's charging fine, but doesn't show me that it's charging. Do I factory reset?
Try THIS way
1. Reboot in to recovery mode
2. Wipe battery status
3. Reboot
Hope it helps

Didn't work. Last night, I left it at 28%. I was up for another hour, so I checked it. It was 39%, though it still didn't show that it was charging. When I woke up, it said it's 100%. ATM it's 98%

i found that they are huge drain in XM/XM dual after updating or rom changing
to solve it
use this
Battery Calibration
install the app
charge the phone till 100
remove plug from phone
click battery calibration..
reboot
problem should be solved by this for most of the guys..
before using this my cell drain 5-10% in 1 hr even on screen off
but now after this app 1% FOR 4-5 HRS

This is not what I mean. My tablet is charging alright, but it just doesn't notify me that it's charging. You know up there, the charging circle spins when it's charging. Not for me, but it's still charging.
It DID spin in the past, though.
Have you changed charging cords? Is this through a wall or computer USB?

Well, not a wall... I used a plug extender, and tried it in the wall but still doesn't show. I might try buying a new charger.
By the way, the charger is a USB that is plugged in the you know, plug. I think you know.
Anyways, My friend borrowed me his white iPad, and I noticed that the plug is from his iPad. I called him to look at his plug, and it said it's made by Samsung.

Heop
I really need help
Hi all
I will be getting my nexus 5 tomorrow and was just curious if there are ant does and donts with regards to charging the battery. The reason i ask is i currently have a HTC sensation and after 18 months the battery had to be replaced as it was simply not holding its charge. My routine was to charge it overnight every night and use it during the day.
Does charging it through the night cause damage? im just a little bit more concerned as i will not be able to replace the battery with it being sealed.
Thanks for any tips
Chris
Hi,
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511647...
I used to do the same thing with my HTC Incredible... I learned that it can damage the battery over time by not allowing it to hold a charge. Now, when I get home (depending on remaining %) I charge my phone, and unplug it during the night.
If for some reason the battery dramatically drains overnight, I'll charge it when I'm getting ready to leave in the AM.
That is just my method, but I have had great results with it for my usage.
Plug it in...

I have had this phone since it was announced. I plug it in every night when I go to bed and leave it plugged in till I wake up. My battery is fine. I have done the same with my note 2 also. Never had any problems

Same here
It's not hard to pop the back cover off and replace the battery when it goes bad. I just dont worry about it and charge whenever and take it off the charger whenever.

So twice now I've plugged my phone in to charge it from a fairly low battery (30% or less) and both times it seems that my phone gets charged up to 80% before it stops charging, because the battery has "overheated" (120F). I've only noticed it happening in the past 24 hours where as I've had lollipop since the day after factory images were available.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Could it just be a bad cord or USB port causing this?
Try clearing cache

i have more or less the same problem: but in every single moment not only in charge time
the phone is always hot (about 35-40°C 95-105F).
i will put kitkat again!
[EDIT] i made a clean installation from factory image, and after one or two days it started overheating and lagging so I
cleared the cache (it takes a lot of time maybe because of ART) but no positive results
I am having the same problem!!! My charger is heating up every time I charge...

Hmm maybe it is related to battery drain. How is your battery life?

Phone has been charging and discharging fine ,until Saturday ,toolkit off charge and after about 30 mins use I noticed battery still showing 100%,restarted phone and it came back on at 94%.It did the same today but when restarted came back on at 98% after a little use,so plugged back into to charger which sat at 98% for a while until I unplugged and straight away was reading 100% Using essential phone charger and nothing else ,any ideas ?
What are you complaining? Phone sips battery on idle and uses a little more on reboot?
