Hi!
Got my Note yesterday, now I got a problem, again. I can't get it work on USB 3.0 no matter what I do (I'm sure about this but I ask this anyway: am I right that SM-P905 have USB 3.0?)
Okay, to the problem:
When connected to USB 3.0 I don't have option to choose USB 3, I only got MTP and PTP
- I updated Kies 3
- I reinstalled drivers (from Kies)
- I have 2 USB 3.0 ports on my PC so not so many to test but:
USB 3.0 works on my Note 3 (SM-N9005) on both USB-ports, It also works well with my Note Pro USB-cable
Note Pro doesn't work (don't give even option to choose USB 3 mode) on any of these two ports. I also tried both ports using my Note 3 USB-cable, but still no luck
So any ideas?
ps. I got ASUS motherboard and I found out someones having similar problems with their Android devices. Reason was ASUS Ai Charger -utility, but I don't have that one never ever istalled on my PC. Oooh, and one more thing, I'm using Win 7 Home Premium (x64)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Updating BIOS and reinstalling Windows did the trick, now it works like it should
What exactly makes you say it doesn't work? Are you completely unable to transfer data to/from the tablet to a PC, are you not seeing a difference between transfer speeds using a USB 2.0 cable vs a 3.0 cable, OR is the appearance of everything working there but you are wanting the USB 3.0 nag screen to pop up to give you an indication that you're indeed using USB 3.0 ?

When I connect Note to PC USB 3.0 port, pull down notification bar and click USB notification, I get ONLY option to use MTP or PTP. USB 3.0 is not listed there as option. I also transferred about <10Gb size file to Note and it took about 50min, which really is loooooong time..
Okay, here is screenshot about what I meant. Can you please say how it's in your tablet.

Same - Mine connects MTP and I can see it and transfer files but on my tablet I get a Icon in the top tray that says connected to USB 3.0
Same here, when I'm getting a USB 3.0 connection to my PC I'll get the 3.0 indication in the notification screen.
I can't get 3.0 to work with my rMBP but it works with my Windows 7 based workstation and I can definitely see an increase in file transfer speed to the tablet when the USB 3.0 cable is used in a USB 3.0 port. Just did a test from a hard drive on my PC to the tablet, 2.1GB file transferred to internal memory on the Note Pro in 1:18 using a USB 2.0 cable and 0:48 using the stock USB 3.0 cable so I'm getting about 45mb/s with 3.0 and 27mb/s with 2.0.
Okay thanks. Tomorrow I'll check again if notification bar shows USB 3 or not, can't remember right now (still got thought that not). I'll get back here and tell if it's working or not.
EDIT: Yup, no USB 3.0 connection, in notifiction area there is that standard USB icon and it's not saying 3.0
EDIT2: Is there some way to find out if Note charges using USB 3.0? Shouldn't the 3.0 be a lot faster on recharging than 2.0, but how I can know which one it uses?

Okay, back to subject..
Does USB 3.0 affect anyway to charging speed? Like if I use stock wall charger with 2.0 or 3.0 cable?
What's your charging speed? I did test and from 50% to 55% it took 15 minutes and from 50% to 65% 45 minutes (which makes average 5%/15min)
To charge I used stock wall charger and stock USB 3.0 cable. I didn't use my NP while charging and mobile data / wifi was OFF
Can you please check how fast is your Note Pro to charge? I still can't make my note to work on 3.0 mode when connected to my PC and I'm trying to find is the problem on my PC or Note before sending this to repair
How about trying Gsam Battery Monitor and observing the charging characteristics that way. It will give you charging current.

With wall charher charging current is 1900mAh, which is normal I think.
Now, if I plug my NP to my computers USB 3.0 port, I get BSOD --> PC reboots and I plug again --> now it works, but still not on USB 3.0 mode. So it could be with drivers or something, tried again install device drivers with Kies 3 but no luck. What could I do? I don't have skills to remove all the drivers and start from clean table (any other way than formatting my pc and that's not gonna happer for a while )
Any ideas?
Okay, just tried with laptop (Win 8.1) and my NP is ok, it connected using USB 3.0.
Now what, if my external HDD and Note 3 works on my own PC via 3.0, what I can do to make my Note Pro work also??
Problem have to be with drivers or something..
Mine doesn't show the "Use USB3.0" option that my Note 3 shows, but it clearly says "Connected as a media device via USB3.0" in the notification bar. (See attached screnshot)
Also, it just copied 1.03GB in 16 seconds from my laptop to my NotePro.
Clearly they removed the USB 3.0 setting from the menu, and it is now done automatically.

I'd start with USBDEVIEW. Google it. Run that with no android devices connected to the PC. Uninstall all drivers related to any android device and reboot the computer. Then try again.
If that doesn't work, consider repeating that, rebooting and then updating the chipset drivers for your motherboard.
After that, I'm out of ideas.
Us Mac users have the same issue; the tablet is simply not recognized as a USB 3.0 device on my rMBP which is running Mavericks. It doesn't matter if I'm running windows as a virtual machine in VMWare Fusion or not so I'm thinking its at the driver level of Mavericks.

I copied 1.42GB file from my USB 3.0 HD to my ext. card - that took 5:52.
I just can't get 3.0 connection to work with NP (see attachment), Note 3 works fine.

Thank you for help. I uninstalled all drivers related to Android and/or Samsung, restarted my PC, connected NP and still not working. At this point I restarted computer again but that didn't help either... Where the heck can that problem be?
I also tried killing all processes that I knew I can safely kill from my PC (In hope if some program/process is doing harm for USB 3.0 connection) but no luck..

I updated them twice, just to be sure. I got 2x USB 3.0 ports on my PC.
My external HD and Note 3 works well with both of them. And Note 3 also works with NP 12.2 cable.
Just my NP wont work no matter which port or cable I use.
On my friends laptop NP 12.2 with the cable that came in the box works well, immediately connects as 3.0 device.
I think I'll quit with this. Don't have the knowledge find out where the problem is.. I thought maby BIOS update might help, but since everything else works fine, I wont do that because the risk of totally f*** up my computer.
But if anyone here got any other/more ideas, I'm listening

You said you had an ASUS motherboard, right? I'd go ahead and update the BIOS, it's pretty fool proof with the newer ones (which you have USB3.0, so it's a safe assumption that it's new enough.)
I also have an Asus motherboard, funny thing is, my Note Pro does show the USB3.0 indicator in the notification bar, but I'm copying files over right now via Linux and it's copying at 9.9MB/s. That's pretty horrible. Added to that, my Note Pro won't charge from the USB port on my computer, but it will from the wall charger. It has a big red X over the battery when plugged into the PC. So I'm not sure if that's somehow related.
Another thought about both of our problems, is that maybe the cable is a little loose or something is in the port-hole. I know mine was a bit flakey for a bit there (as in I would plug it in, create a folder... then tried to rename it and it said it couldn't access the device... I had to try it three times after unplugging and plugging it back in.)
It doesn't make sense though that it's a BIOS and/or driver issue if you also have a Note 3 and it's working through USB3. I know on mine, when I tried it in Linux (can't recall if I did under Windows), it was extremely flakey there too. The Note Pro just autodetected it, but still copied slowly. I'll have to try that under Windows as well now.

Yes, you may want to update your BIOS.
(For the record, I'm using an Asus N76VB with the factory BIOS, no issue).
Hm, maybe a silly suggestion... Are you using any type of USB charging setting? I know some of these Asus motherboards come with an option to overvolt the USB port to enable fast charging.

Not related. A USBport doesn't supply enough amperé to register as charging. Even my old Galaxy Tab 2 10,1 has that issue.

I have that issue with my Note 3 and even my TF700T since day 1. It's an MTP bug. And now since 4.4.2 I can't rename anything on my Note 3 without explorer.exe crashing. Different pc's, different OS's, different cables, no difference.

I did read somewhere that Asus AI Suite (program to tune up voltage or something for usb charging) can somehow do "harm" to USB3 connection, but I don't have that one even installed.

The funny thing here is like I said: My Note 3 works perfectly when plugged to USB3, but my NP doesn't like recognize that it's plugged to 3.0 port. It just acts like using 2.0. Same PC, same cable, different device.

Yeah, I know mine isn't charging because I watched, even after plugging it into my computer, it slowly go from 70% battery down to 65%.
When looking at what is hogging all the battery, it's the retarded Indexing service. I'm still in the process of seeing if there's a fix for that, but it really seems like it's having an issue (which would also explain why mounting it on the computer is flakey, since they could be trying to read the same file systems.) Oddly, my Note 3 doesn't have any of these issues (except actually mounting as USB3). In fact, I was starting to suspect my PC at work had crap USB ports, but it's just the stupid Blackberry cable (it only successfully charges the blackberry, not my Note 3 or anything besides my mouse that I've plugged into it.)

That's a good question, indeed it's micro usb port which is only usb 2.0 I've done a bit of digging and it seems the SOC of the nexus 5 supports usb 3.0 so google need to fix their firmware as to stop it reporting that the device can perform faster when connected to a pc.
This is usually caused by bad drivers on the PC, not the phone.
My phone works just fine when plugged into USB 3.0, no prompts, no issues. Note that this phone won't actually run at USB 3.0 speeds, but it will run just fine otherwise. Smartphones do not need USB 3.0 as none of them are even remotely fast enough to make use of it right now.

That's odd,all my other usb 3 devices are working just fine,it's only the nexus 5 that is saying that on plugging in, i agree it is bad drivers but not from my pc,it's the firmware on the nexus, if it's not a usb 3 device then the firmware shouldn't be sending out the wrong commands.

Any Resolution
Hi,
I am also facing the same issue. Any one resolved it.
Thanks,
Arindam
So for a while I haven't been able to connect my GSIII to my laptop cause it pisses me off. It will constantly disconnect at random times, no matter what USB port I use.
I have a Clevo W350STQ laptop, which has two (2) USB 3.0 ports and one (1) USB 2.0 port. My only shot at connecting it is using the 3.0 ports, as the 2.0 one will be worse.
With the 3.0 ports I can have the phone connected for anywhere between 10 seconds and 5 minutes, but it's never been connected for longer than 5 minutes. The 2.0 port connects and disconnects every second.
It's not the cable as I use it for charging and have used it for connecting other phones
It's not the USB ports cause I use them all the time for other things, and I even re-installed my USB drivers.
What could it be?
I did a factory reset and updated to 4.3, and it only happens with my laptop.
Edit------------------------
I needed to transfer files over and tried using Kies Air because I can't use Kies 3, and Kies Air just says that java isn't installed, and I won't upload every song one by one.... And when using Kies Air, I have it sent to the desktop and every time I try to open it, it just says it cannot be opened.
Here's a photo of what comes up when I uninstall the drivers completely, restart computer, install the drivers, then connect my SIII to my laptop.

You're probably not using a very good usb cable. Just because you're able to charge through it doesn't mean you're going to get good data transfer. They use completely different wires, and transferring data is much more reliant on a high quality cable.
I have a charging cable that works fine for charging, but won't connect to my computer at all no matter what. I bought a 3 ft OEM cable on amazon that works great for data transferring and I only use it for that purpose.

I'm using the OEM cable that came with my phone. The cable works perfectly fine on my desktop, it's only my laptop. I have tried different cables as well, and they all produce the same results. This is why I'm stumped... I'm currently using AirDroid to transfer files and stuff to my phone, but I would at least like to get the USB connection working.
I've tried re-installing the drivers and still nothing. I tried using the mobile drivers from the samsung website, no work. Tried using the drivers that install when you plug the phone in, no work. I can't seem to get anything to work :/

I don't think is ur fone since it connects to ur desktop. Have u tried different devices with same cable and/or different cables. . If ur jst putting files into ur external sd card y not use an adapter or put the sd card in another fone or mp3 player to transfer the files then back to ur fone.
Most likely it is a mechanical failure in the phone USB connector , mine will not connect at all . I have seen several complaints about this issue. Looks like the connections are breaking internally in the phone and it cannot be repaired. Software is never intermittent, hardware often is.
QUESTION: is there anyone else using a Note 12.2 with an rMBP or MacBook Air, (or any 2012-or newer model Apple MacBook) and the USB connection is fine?
I have a strange issue with my 12.2- I'm trying to get some insight if it's just mine, or can anyone else confirm this one way or another?
When I attach via USB to my 12.2 ONLY on an Apple MacBook (I can replicate it either with my 15" rMBP running Mavericks or a 13" Air running Mountain Lion) the MacBooks completely disable USB file transfer on the device- as in for good, including with any other USB connection on any other computer- until I do a factory reset.
File Transfer works perfectly on all of my PC's running Windows, and on a Hackintosh running Mavericks and my genuine MacPro running Mountain Lion.
It's only the MacBooks that kill the USB connection every time. After it happens, no other device will connect via USB.
It's not a driver issue or anything else- my MacBooks connect perfectly to my Galaxy S3, Note 2 and Note 3 using Android File Transfer. (And other non-Samsung Android devices I own). But the 12.2's connection dies every time, until a factory reset.
I'm thinking this is probably just an issue with my tablet, but would be nice to have some insight before I return it for a replacement. Also I want to make sure I don't just get the same problem happening again, if it's somehow a Apple/MacBook problem not the Note Pro.
Anyone have any ideas why just the MacBook USB ports (and two different OS's) would kill the Galaxy Note Pro? Like maybe they use a different type of USB 3.0 connection or something?
Update: I was exploring the limitations of this issue- it only happens with the original dual Samsung USB 3.0 cable and the MacBooks. A standard microUSB cable and it connects fine and doesn't kill the USB connection.
Again, same Samsung USB 3.0 cable and any other device, no problem. Weird problem.
I also could not use the stock USB 3.0 cable on my rMBP.
I'm guessing it's a USB 3.0 driver issue since even through a VMW Fusion virtual machine I could not get a good connection.
Thanks for the advice on the use of a USB 2.0 cable. It's not as fast obviously but works in a pinch.

This has to be a hardware issue with the Note Pro.
Do you get the same problem? That connecting to your Macbook completely disables USB connections until you do a factory reset? (I'd love to know if there's a better way to fix the USB connectivity other than a factory reset. Nothing in the developer options does it that I know of.)
For now I think I'm still going to exchange for another and see if it's just a glitch with mine that the USB connection is completely killed. If it's true of all Note Pros then it's something Samsung needs to fix.
Not sure what you mean by completely disabling USB connections.
Host mode for external devices? I haven't done that with the tab yet since I don't have an adapter for it.
Or are you talking about only having one shot at connecting the tablet to my rMBP? I'd say no, I can plug and unplug repeatedly to my heart's content using a standard microUSB cable and copy files to/from the device without rebooting let alone factory resetting it.

Ah so clearly this is just my tablet.
Yes, I mean I get one shot to plug into either Macbook (using the Samsung USB 3 cable) and thereafter no USB transfer connection of any sort is possible. The tablet simply doesn't show up on anything. Not even with the standard micro USB cable, and not with any other computer. I have to do a reset to get USB transfer back. If I use the Samsung cable (or the same cable from my Note 3 so it's not the cable itself) with any other computer I own other than the MacBooks, everything is fine. Standard micro USB with anything including MacBooks is fine.
If I'm understanding you right, your tablet won't connect via the Samsung cable to your Macbook but at least it doesn't completely kill the USB transfer just by connecting it.
Any rate I'm taking it back in the morning, and bringing my rMBP to check how the replacement works.
Yep, just the stock cable that came with it doesnt work with my rMBP. At no time have I needed to do a factory reset.
I'm not on Mavericks yet, if that makes any difference or not I don't know.
Good idea to bring the computer in.
Good luck!
The Note Pro 12.2 doesn't connect well with my 15" Retina MacBook Pro either via USB 3.0 cable. The tablet says "connected via USB 3.0" but Android File Transfer (what a piece of junk) doesn't see it. I haven't had to factory reset (which means wipe out) the tablet though. At worst, a reboot gets the tablet working with a USB 2.0 cable. With both 3.0 and 2.0 cable, the tablet shows the "x" through the battery indicating the Mac isn't outputting enough juice to charge, even over USB 3.0. Using a USB hub in general works better than direct connection to the Mac.
Thanks pdagal. Does seem to be an issue with Macs and USB 3.0. An older MacPro with USB 2.0 works fine.
Took mine in and exchanged it this morning at Best Buy. The complete disabling of USB transfer was a unique bug. New Note Pro behaves like you describe- doesn't connect to MacBook via original USB 3 cable, but at least a reboot restores USB transfer function afterwards without a factory reset.
I hope a firmware upgrade will fix this entirely.
I cant comment on the Note pro 12.2 but my note 3 i tend to use OTG cable and a thumb drive to push large files or use drop box. I could never really get android file transfer to even work consistently with my Nexus 10 running Mountain lion or mavericks on different macs.

Do you have Samsung Kies installed? If so it kills AFT until it's completely removed using the uninstaller.
Otherwise I'm surprised people have issues with AFT. It's always worked flawlessly for me on every Mac and Hackintosh I use. Even this issue wasn't an AFT problem at all.

no never did have kies. I have owned Macs and Androids since the G1 and Nexus One and have never much had luck with AFT. I could get it to work every now and then but once i figured out a thumb drive and a OTG usb cable its been just easier to throw files on a thumb drive. But I dont move alot of files around unless its setting up a new phone. Now with my Nexus 10 I use the thumb drive to keep abunch of movies on it so i dont have to worry about space and i have stuff to watch while traveling. Speaking of Hackintosh AFT worked flawlessly on my wifes old dell netbook that I did the hackintosh on.
So I've had my S7 for around two months now, and all of a sudden fast charging just stopped working. Thought, oh, must be using the wrong cable (have loads of them micro USB cables floating around)
Now I'm certain I'm using the official Samsung fast charge plug and cable that came with the phone, and still no fast charge. When I try to plug into my Windows 10 Desktop or Laptop I have a message that says the device can't be recognized
Phone has already been rooted and flashed with a custom rom. Didn't think that was the issue as it wouldn't even show the mounted storage in TWRP, or identify the phone in ODIN.
Now I've flashed back to the stock rom that I made a backup of when I had the phone, and I still have the same problem!! Can't access internal / external storage using the supplied USB cable and can't fast charge.
I'm thinking the USB port on the device is just knackard.. but really, I've looked after it so well I fail to see how this could happen, unless it's a common fault.
Might just get a wireless fast charger, but do you guys have anything else I can try before giving up on the USB connectivity?
Cheers
try to connect to a different pc, if same it means your usb connector is faulty
Sounds more like the cable is bad tbh, you won't get fast charge from a PC USB port, only from the Samsung charger
But if the device isn't recognised by the PC, and won't fast charge from the charger, the common thing between them is the cable
Possible it's the phone USB port, but more likely the cable is bad
Afaik certain cables can not fast charge either, so chances are the ones you have lying around that are not the official cable can not support it
Genuine Samsung USB cable is white with the USB port symbol on both ends and the phone end has two small ridges to grip when inserting and removing it, should help identify it
Yep I'm using the official cable and fast charger
I'm trying to fast charge via the fast charger and not USB. Only trying USB to access the internal / external storage.
Tried on my desktop and laptop and both have the same issue where my old HTC m8 connects without any issue.

To fast charge I've tried the original Samsung cable with the fast charge plug.
To connect to the PC I've used x3 different cables that all work with my HTC one m8. With all of them I get device not recognised. Already tried installing Samsung switch and reinstalling drivers which didn't work.

I mean for the HTC, does the Samsung fast charge cable work to connect to the PC?
Does sound possible the phones USB port is faulty if you can't get any connection at all to the PC with multiple cables
Try changing the USB mode in developer options
Networking > Select USB configuration

Yep the genuine Samsung cable works when connecting the htc to the computer.
I've tried enabling USB debugging and switching between charging, MTP, PTP, RNDIS, Audio Source and Midi.. all of them come back with the windows popup

Unfortunately not. Well it's been rooted and flashed so I guess not.
Ordered a wireless fast charger so hopefully that will see me through and WiFi network for file transfers.
I reckon the USB port will need replacing but I'm not really inclined to do that myself.
Just noticed you said you flashed back to stock using a backup you made
Have you tried stock using ODIN and 100% stock files, using CSC to reset?
My dad has a5 2016 with the same issue, and no warranty. I bought flex + connector , replaced it and still nothing. No fast charge ( it takes cca 4hrs to charge it fully ) and no usb connectivity. I gave up on that
@ClowsTyle
Any luck? I seen your recent post in another thread and it sounds like you tried to replace the USB but that didn't work.
I'm having the exact same issue now. Device suddenly stopped fast charging, Windows does not recognize it when plugged into PC. I ordered a new cable to double check and also tried on different computers. I also tried reinstalling drivers, but nothing has worked.
Hi my is doing the same thing no Fast charge and no pc connection, did anybody find out what happen with yours ?
You have to change power ic s535 for s7 edge.
When usb gets moisture power ic will damage.
I have same problem my phone charging 0-100 6hours but ı install notorious kernel and it takes 3 hours it is better than 6 hours
Same Issue
I've had the same issue for the past 3 weeks now and I've tried everything I know...
1. Tested cable and charger with another S7 and they work fine.
2. Factory Reset.
3. Changed the USB port chip.
4. Turned on "Low Battery Dump".
So far, the issue hasn't changed.
was this issue solved?
I´m having same issues whit my galaxy s7 active, I can not fast charge my phone no matter what cable I use, then noticed that evrytime I plug it to any computer it says the devicescan not be recognized, I´m about to buy a new charging port and install it, but I want to make shure this is not a software related issue.
I´ve tried several cables and several laptops/ pc´s
I´ve factory reseted my device and turned on low battery dump, wiped cache partition, and problem still there...
The charger could be faulty/damaged did you try a different charger?

Dial *#08# and select the first option (mtp and another option i am on a custom rom that seems to not have the *#0808# setting
I also have the same issue with my phone the phone charges but not recognize and also tried to change settings on phone and nothing? And my other samsung phone works and nothing wrong with USB tried to install smansung drivers on PC and still same issue.
I tried a different USB and nothing works and different ports on my comp.
My ports works with my other samsung phone so not sure why not with the S7?
Is the USB faulty?
I recently bought a Google Pixel it's all working fine
But when I plug it on my PC it doesn't get recognized even though the phone is charging I don't get any notification that the phone is plugged through USB I have all the drivers installed
Here are the errors I'm getting: "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" and "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" please help I've moved from iOS recently I don't want to refund I freaking love this phone! and i'm starting to get desperate.
Thanks
Not for the Pixel 2 but I thought it'd be the same case plus I need help ASAP cause I'm leaving country soon!
Are you connecting it using the cable that it came with? If you are, try a different port or reboot your phone and see if that helps. You can also get into the developer settings and tell it to MTP rather than USB Charging. Sometimes that helps. You can also try different cables, (if desktop) use the usb ports on the back of the computer rather than the front.

Yeah I did it all. It just doesn't wanna work
The cable it comes with is garbage. Use that only for charging and go buy a good USB C or USB A to C cable (for transfer, adb, etc. I've had better luck with the A to C cables).

Make sure you are plugging into a USB 2.0 port. If all you have are 3.X ports you need to enable USB debugging in Developer options. If you are plugging into a desktop use the ports on the back of the machine.

It's too late for that now mate
I don't bother connecting with a cable. I use the free app 'Airdroid'. It gives you a url to use on your computer and as long as both your phone and computer are on the same network you can see all your files, photos, messages etc. on your computer screen. Very easy to move files either way and do all sorts of other things. Very slick.
BTW, you don't need to setup an Airdroid account just skip that bit.

Nah I'm doing this so I can root n stuff
You don't need pc to recognize device as a drive via USB for file recognition to root and stuff. Just use adb push and pull. That's of course if it is recognized by adb. Mine is that way as not recognize mtp drivers but adb is fine

I had the same issue when I first got my phone. Initially, the only way I was able to get it to work was plugging directly into a USB port on the PC....it wouldn't work on any USB hub. I ordered a Anker Powerline II cable (my hub was Anker so I figured it would have the best luck) and it worked. No other cable would work...not sure why. Also, I didn't have to enable debugging (I had tried that before and it still didn't work)...I was able to go into Settings and change USB from charge only to file transfer.

I've had the same issue - it ended up being a bad cable.
I know you probably checked this, but... did you update the Google drivers on your PC? My phone wan't recognized until I installed the latest from Google.
Just use an a to c cable. If you're using the adapter that came with your pixel, it won't work. And yeah everyone else is right, use the 2.0 port
Apparently 8.1 fcuked up usb 3.x connections such that you can't even use them for data, only usb 2.0 for now, it's super annoying. There's an issue tracker for it if you want to star it.
I use Solid Explorer and the ftp server to connect to Win 10 for file transfers atm
I had the same problem. After I finally switched to my one USB 2.0 port, I was subsequently able to use my 3.0 ports again. It was a while ago, so I don't remember the details, but I think I updated the driver for the device that was reporting as active in Windows Device Manager while I was connected via the 2.0 port.

Would be interesting if you could share your driver info - no one I've seen online has fixed this!
