Hey everyone. Is there anywhere I could go to download the system apps that come preinstalled on the M8 with their respective odex files. Not thinking I just went straight ahead and deleted a bunch of them using root explorer and now I am unable to use ART.
Thanks for any insight + help in advance
check the android development section. I have a thread there that has the system dump .. download, and pull the files you need from the .zip

Hello im new there.
I found here a tool called Rom Cleaner. Can anyone talk me a procedure how to flash a rom customized via this tool ? I open the archive and i do not see any boot.img file. I just want use it for removing some apps from it before flashing. Here is the link to thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876626. I can`t post this directly because im newbie
Thanks.
You don't actually need it. You can do it with WinRAR.
- Download ROM (Zip)
- OPEN the Zip with WinRAR (Do not extract it)
- Delete the APK's you don't want
- Close WinRAR
- Flash
You can also delete system apps after you've flashed it. I recommend usingRoot App Remover since it's pretty bulletproof. You can't f*ck up and delete important apps like Settings, Clock, Phone etc.
Thanks for quick replay. I will try this.
Thx for your tips, and also for bringing the Root App Remover to my knowledge.
Thanks
Thank you for all the tips
Thanks for the easy winrar removal tip.... I can finally get adw launcher and the stock mms off of my s-on mt3gs. Who would've thought it was that easy.....
Ok so i was wondering ... i got the NexusHD2 ICS CM9 ROM for my HTC HD2,
If i open the .zip file up, system>app and then you'll see a list of system apps like Browser.apk, Calculator.apk, so i was wondering, can i delete the one i won't use anyways and will the Rom still work?
Please respond ASAP I wanna install the ROM
Yes, you can even move some system apk files to /data/app, however, there are several applications that need to be left in /system/app.
There is no guarantee with the following list. Those are just my finding so far.
braces > can be moved to /data/app
! > should not be removed
ApplicationsProvider.apk! (Browser.apk) CalendarProvider.apk! (Camera.apk) CertInstaller.apk Contacts.apk (ContactsProvider.apk)! (SpareParts.apk)! DownloadProvider.apk! (DrmProvider.apk)! (MediaProvider.apk)! DefaultContainerService.apk! (LiveWallpapersPicker.apk) Mms.apk PackageInstaller.apk! Phone.apk! Provision.apk! Settings.apk! SettingsProvider.apk! Superuser.apk SystemUI.apk! TelephonyProvider.apk! Torch.apk (UserDictionaryProvider.apk) Vending.apk (VpnDialogs.apk)
Yes it will still work when you flash the ROM because the apk files you deleted will not be found by the installer and will ignore whats missing.

You dont have to delete any, just put them into QUARANTINE that way you can use them later when you need them again.
Help
So i can just delete unnecessary .apk´s like quick lookup and google talk which i won´t use anyways?
Oh btw .. If i replace Rosie.apk with a themed/modded one, my ROM won't boot up ...

There are several people wanting to get the HTC keyboard working with the Eye Candy AOKP ROM.
The dev has removed the lib files needed for HTC.IME.apk to work. Does anyone know exactly which lib files are needed?
I don't need a download, just the file names. I can pull them from another ROM.
Thanks in advance.
Hi
i would like to change/replace the emoticons on my phone. the emoticons that comes with the ROM i flashed looks pretty bad (for me personally) so i would like to change them. i have done a little bit of searching in the forums and i came across some threads which i dont quite understand. i am hoping some one with more experience and expert in this area can help me out
Phone: HTC Sensation XE
ROM: Darkforest Sensation XE 7.2.0
i realized that i need to set up ADB . then i further read that there are multitool for apk or something that i can use for manipulating the apk in my phone. there a a few different threads talking about all these
So my questions now are
Q: Is setting up ADB enough for my purpose (just replace the emoticons). i wouldnt want to "overkill" (as in install too many tools/applications) just to have my emoticons replaced.
Q: -removed- found my answer for this question thank you
Q: i found some threads saying it i can also flash the zip they created and require a specific ROM does that mean with the ROM i have on my phone i cant run their zip through CWM recovery?
Sorry for so many question and pardon me if some of the questions i ask don't make sense.
Thank you!!
it's simple

make a copy of your framework-res.apk from system/framework using es file explorer or any other tool you prefer
put it on your desktop
right click on it,then open it,DO NOT EXTRACT IT
double click on res, then drawable hdpi and the files are in there, there's normally 18
the 1st one starts off emo_im_angel.png
delete these, add your new ones by dragging & dropping the icons in,making sure they are named the same & are same size
click yes you want to add files
press X(close apk)
then how you put it back is up to u
adb, flashable zip or if your not to sure, place it on your sd card & copy over origional, set permissions to rw-r-r
reboot
ALL DONE

Hi Guys,
Need some assistance here.
I want to customize the pre-install apps on my device (Meaning adding another)
I noticed there is already a DIR (/vendor/operator/app ) where facebook, twitter and all other .apk files is.
If I add another .apk file there, where is the script where I should state that it must also install the new .apk's?
Also selinux... if I change the bootanimation.zip in /system/media it default back to the standard Android bootscreen.
How do I further check my permissions? I did a getfacl on the original bootanimation.zip and a setfacl on new bootanimation.zip (permissions is the same)
What am I missing?
Is there some sort of basic guide for customizing the basics in Android 5.1?
Thanks
