Hi Guys,
Need some assistance here.
I want to customize the pre-install apps on my device (Meaning adding another)
I noticed there is already a DIR (/vendor/operator/app ) where facebook, twitter and all other .apk files is.
If I add another .apk file there, where is the script where I should state that it must also install the new .apk's?
Also selinux... if I change the bootanimation.zip in /system/media it default back to the standard Android bootscreen.
How do I further check my permissions? I did a getfacl on the original bootanimation.zip and a setfacl on new bootanimation.zip (permissions is the same)
What am I missing?
Is there some sort of basic guide for customizing the basics in Android 5.1?
Thanks

Hello Guys , how are you doing ..
I have questions about repalceing framework-res.apk in Android platform
when i try to replace modified framework-res.apk with original ones
does android replace as a folder name or as file in folder ..
for example :-
if I made framework-res.apk which just has a Animation Files and push it to android device , Now does it replace with framwork-res.apk files OR it just
replaced Animation files with original animation .
that all about my question i hope it clear & i wish to get help as soon as possible
Thankx you >>
I'm not sure but I think it replaces all of the files
Sent from my GT-I5700 using XDA App
..
thanks mr.PsHegger
i posted new thread because i want to get sure answer, i have tried to figure it out EXPERIENTIALLY in SDK but i didn't get any result
i hope anyone could tells us the sure answer
If you ADB push a modified APK of the same name it will "replace" it. If your only tring to replace a couple of files such as png's for theme'ing I would suggest an app like Metamorph.

Hi!! this seems to be a good choice for my x10....
Do I hace to install it as a custom rom?? from xrecovery?? I'm with Unlock Booloader so I suppose I need the stock kernel.... Sorry for my english, Still learning it
Using:
v7 X10S rom
DoomKernel
aiit guys, this is a file i compiled from the needed stuff from the rom in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671574
Should work on CM7 roms. Problem is its not a signed zip (bcs idk how to), so you guys have to copy paste and change permissions yourselves.
another thing is that you need to cross check your build.prop with the one inside. There are a few lines that need to be copied... im not sure what yours is missing so Crosscheck and try to change most stuff to sony.
If you are using linux (ubuntu/fedora) (well with nautilus) just download SSHDroid from the market. turn it on and crtl+L in nautilus type in the link (eg.sftp://[email protected]) then it will ask for password which by default is "admin"
after that you can basically copy your files into the system folder.
(you can also select the files choose properties and under permissions tab edit your perms. ) good luck! enjoy your working gallery
everything works and not work like in the thread i linked above

You should use logcat to see which lib is required for each app.

You dont have to create bootanimation folder. Just put the bootanimation.zip into /system/media/

scholastica sorry for my translation, but I've tried this. I do not work so I leave this issue here. then, I have put a bootanimation already put me at the time of placing a CWN recovery. I can remove if I go to this address: system / bin / bootanimation. okay? then .. that I did it? get this file that has no file type online. for example, take it from a rom cwm and replace to give the necessary permissions as the other files in the bin folder. not achieved and I change the bootanimation. moreover, scholastova the bootanimation.zip folder. I've tried other directions. I do not remember. I have watched many tutorials and I get nothing.
I can not do that ...

Ok, let's try again. First, go to system / bin / and open file: bootanimation with text editor. Find text: bootanimation (see attachment). As you can see, the name of bootanimation file is not bootanimation.zip but bootanimation_mtk.zip. Now do the same thing, may be you have to change the name of bootanimation.zip file to something else. CLUE: Follow the address and the name as written in system / bin / bootanimation file.
I hope it works!

Make a bootanimation in 1080x1920 resolution (be very careful about this, if it is in any other resolution your device will not boot.) and place it in:
Device>Cust>Preinstalled>public>media
Before copying your new bootanimation.zip to this foler rename the existing bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak (or whichever name you like) and leave it there.
Change permissions of your new bootanimation to rwrr with ES Explorer.
If want your bootanimation sound changed as well, you can save a file in the .ogg format, max 10-15 secs and place it here:
Device>System>media>audio>animationsounds>
* Remember you will have to change all files back to original if you want to install Huawei's OTA updates in future, so be sure to keep backups of the original files.
Thank you verta much!
regular bootanimation
anyone got the regular Huawei bootantimation? (L04? L12?)
I'm on L02, and the China Unicom bootanimation is annoying.
Thanks!

If you have root, you can debrand (change boot animation) using this tool. Wokked for me.
I've tried with My Honor 6 Plus (PINE PE-TL10) stuck at the new bootloader, cust folder missing from TWRP file manager (I made a backup before swap , but no way to restore)
Emergency flash (SD method) end with error message ("Cust folder missing" or "customization failled") but works (it wipe your data).
then a upgrade to Marshmallow (Emirates B510 Version) and the folder is not present on Android 6 !
Hello,
I a quite new to Android development/hacking and need some clarification regarding signing system apps.
I did not find any answer yet that fully helped me solve my problem...yes, I did use search on the forum and even Google
Scenario:
Let's assume I wanted to modify some system apks (in /priv-app or /app doesn't matter).
All those apks I want to modify do rely on the same framework.apk.
As far as I know, if I modify a system apk all other system apks that rely on the same framework.apk have to be resigned using the same certificate.
1) Is this correct (any pitfalls there)?
2) Do I have to resign the used framework.apk with the same certificate also?
3) Do I have to take other files/things into consideration that would have to be changed / resigned / etc.?
Thanks in advance! :good:
Regards
Markus

All system apps have to be signed the same way, yes. You can sometimes mod your services.jar to turn off signature verification but that can leave you a bit more open to malware.
When you mod a system app, you just have to make sure you use the original signature in the new version. The only exception to this is if you change anything in the manifest. Then you will need a new signature, which means either signing everything else with that signature or doing the services.jar I mentioned earlier.
Hello Ticklefish,
first of all: Thanks a lot!
To summarize your answer:
1) Modding services.jar is out of the question! Would never have done this anyway...(risky from a malware point of view)
2) In case I modify a system apk WITHOUT altering the manifest.xml I can reuse the old apk signature for my new apk (the whole META-INF folder has to be copied over to the new apk?)
Nothing else has to be adjusted?
I suppose I still can do a zipalign afterwards in that case?
3) In case of modifying the manifest.xml I would have to resign ALL system apks.
All of them or only those that rely on the same framework as the modded apk?
Do I have to resign the framework apk as well?
I am asking, because I will have to mod several apks relying on different frameworks: At least one where I have to alter manifest.xml...
Thanks in advance

If you're modifying an APK without changing the manifest, the best method is to use 7zip or similar to open the new APK and drag the modded files over to the original APK. That way you're still using the same META-INF at the same compression ratio.
Or use Tickle My Android (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633333) to do it for you....cough...cough...
You can zipalign afterwards, just remember that any further changes will affect that zipaligning so you'll have to do it again.
As far as resigning the APK goes, all I know is that you have to change every file that uses the same key/signature as the app you resigned so that they all match.
I have to confess that I've never actually done this. I rarely change the manifest myself and, when I do, I disable signature verification. Yes, it makes you more prone to malware but as long as you're careful about what you install you should be okay.

I usually use Mixplorer, (if you use your phone to de/re-compile). Click on compiled apk, select 'explore' and a new tab opens with the contents of the apk. Delete the manifest that was created in recompile, then go to folder with decompiled apk, /original, and long-press to select android manifest xml, and META-INF folder. Choose copy, and paste them into new apk.
