No muting yet. I went through the manual too. I even tried muting the sounds (in general) and it still noisy. I guess another thing still in the works.
Nope: in most countries it's prohibited to have NO shutter-sound!
So: this won't be implemented in future updates!

Really? I didn't know that.
Me 2
Sprint did the same thing with their phones. I read it hasn't passed congress yet (this was a year or two ago, haven't done research since), but Sprint was the only carrier at the time pushing camera sounds to all users. They however couldn't make changes to the iPhone so they did not push this change to them.
I'm betting we will need to wait until someone roots the watch until the sound will be removed...

That's not true, put your phone on vibrate or silent and take a picture. You can also disable to sound on certain carriers like T-Mobile.

I remember on the s2 you couldn't turn shutter off but later we got an update to do it. Hopefully we get one cuz shutter is loud. Or hopefully someone roots this gear 2 and I'm sure we will be able to do that.

Read it just fine sir, no offence intended. This, however, isn't true in my experience, even still, it definitely doesn't mean it won't be included as a future update.

First line, no, maybe some countries...if such a law. But easy fix, install other camera software that can disable shutter sound. Also already built into Android camera.
Second line, probably true like the first Galaxy Gear. But hopefully there'll be a mod for it like on the first.
I hope this is addressed shortly. I need to be able to take pictures of lecture notes on the board (and the professor doesn't mind, so long as it is silent), however with the shutter sound, I can't, as it would be seen as a disruption. If I start taking pictures with this thing, I would most definitely be asked to leave.
I must say that Tizen was a very poor choice on Samsung's part. No apps exist (can't so much as use Twitter), and we can't do anything. It's quite frustrating.

I tried to compile the camera sample app in the Tizen wearable SDK.
unfortunately, I couldn't compile.
has anyone else tried that.
(well maybe if we can compile, we can remove the shutter sound from that app)
Yeah, really need the ability to turn off the shutter sound. I tunred all shutter sound off on all my devices. At least the ability to low the sound.
I have finally built the app but when I try to install with sdb.exe I get an error.
anyone else who can try ?

Keep up the good effort.
If you root the Gear 2, there is an easier way of disabling Camera sounds:
http://www.tizenexperts.com/2014/06/hack-tizen-samsung-gear-2-gear-2-neo-get-root-access/
Rooting:
Instructions
Here are some instructions on how to Load into Odin and flash your device with the downloaded firmware
Download Odin 3.09, and extract it to its own folder
Download the rootfs.img file from the above links
Put your Gear 2 device into download mode
Launch Odin
Connect Smart watch to your PC
Make sure the settings are the default ones ie Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time selected
Select the AP Button
Navigate to where you downloaded the file and select it
Click on Start
Wait for it to finish.
In order to activate root you need the sdb.exe from Tizen-SDK, or equivalent file depending on your OS.

Why? Do you want to make (silent) pictures in toilets or public showers?
NO, this is NOT possible and even prohibited in some countries! I don't think there will be an update to enable this!
By the way: you know this forum has a SEARCH-function? If you had used it, you probably found that there was already a thread about this!

hell, yes ! How did you know my intention
Actually, I want to take pictures without the shutter sound. I can't disclose my purpose here.
Thanks for pointing me to the correct thread. I hadn't searched for the thread but I've gone through all the forums under "Gear 2" and didn't see that one. sorry...
Btw, I don't care if it is prohibited or not. There are too many prohibited things which we find a hole to un-prohibit on this forum. Shutter sound is not an exception.
ps. : Don't worry I am not interested in your nude pictures in the toilet. but if I was, I wouldn't use Gear 2. There are smaller devices for that purpose.
I found a camera app in the SDK sample apps. Maybe I can check that and remove shutter sound if possible...

WHY the hell do you CARE why people want it to be muted? The same reason you want vibrate as I told you before. There are time when it's quiet and you don't want to hear a shutter sound.
For example photographing a sleeping baby. Not sutter sound needed and wanted.
Any suggestions? I am looking as well.

I just built it and ran it on the emulator with no issues. It did you use my laptop camera for the emulator.
If it built, but you couldn't transfer it, it's probably a permission/signature issue.

ive compiled a .bat file for anyone who wants to browse their gear in windows like an explorer, with out the limitations of instant browsing or editing inside tizen sdk and without having any changes made sticking by accident
but first you need to put sdb.exe into the folder sdb at C:\sdb
the .bat will then proceed to pull your gears filesytem to the sdb folder, maintaining the correct heirarchy
CAUTION WHEN MAKING CHANGES
NOT FOR NOOBS
any changes made wont be save on the device
if you want them saved
you will need to push them back to the relevant folders on the gear
and reboot

I know it seems rather trivial, but is there someone working on root access for the gear s2? I'd love custom ringtones like on my gear s.
It can be done without rooting your device. Unfortunately, I don't have a 3g S2 to test it :-/

The problem now is that even if I signed the wgt file with the tester's watch id, it still refuses to install. I'm trying to solve it before I invite more people to test
I also have a 3G version, will be willing to test out. Really sounds dumb, but i want to have custom ringtones, i bought the Filemaster app for $3, it shows you root access. but will not let you transfer to that folder.
Unless someone has a way to do that.
Let me know if you need any testing.

With root access, is one able to modify system settings like on Android phones (like buildprop tweaks)?
I'm specifically looking for ways to fix the buggy always-on mode still turning off the display & to change the screen timeout.
But if one modifies the watch, will OTA updates still work?
And is there an Odin-like program for the Gear S2?

Damn, just found this thread and read through it. Haven't looked at Tizen development yet, but am well-experienced developing for Android.
@tipztv, what you mention about deployment is very troubling! How does this issue affect private app development and deployment on one's own watch? I have all kinds of little apps I've developed over the years just for myself to plug functionality holes or just make something easier to do on the phone. Of course, with Android, it's trivial to do this. How about on Tizen?
No news about the root ?

Thanks.

I second this, I've also noticed that half the time when my watch wakes it's now on the media player and not the watch face. Even when no media was playing. Cannot figure out how to stop that from happening yet.. but as soon as I have enough time to figure it out I will share it here
1.
It seems only affected T-Mobile SM-R765T with latest Firmware R765TUVU3CRD2
2.
We could try to identify if these are settings problem...
Or inside this Firmware is buggy Music Player App

Maybe somebody here who is willing to identify problem...
Maybe workaround could be to replace this app, by older Version...

i did the following and so far, it seems to help but NOT sure if it will stick:
- force stop the app (music Player)
- clear cache on Gear S plugin, Gear IconX,
Gear
- restarted Gear and my phone (Note 8)
Battery still sucks. was far better on 3.0.0.1
**UPDATE 5/11/18** Did not help, still comes back, but not as often as it did.

While I still have not had time to look into this further, my guess is the only fix would be in the Gear app on our phone, notifications, and make sure we turn off notifications for whatever is causing this (not sure what the specific app would be as I am not wearing my watch right now so I cannot pull up the list of apps that I allow to send notifications to the watch)
That's the fix I intend to explore first, if you can check this for us, you may solve it now. Or maybe not lol

Yeah, as of now, it only happens if my phone and watch are too far away from each other and watch is in Stand Alone.
Hello guys!
Recently I bought Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. BUT there is no way that I can record calls. I'm from Bulgaria and it is some kind of regulation crap. I mean when I go to the options in the dialer app the option for call recordings is not present at all.
Most of my calls are for work with tons of instructions about this and that and I take them either from the car or somewhere without access to notes and pens etc. On my previous phone I found an app that enebled native call recording without rooting somehow... It was P30 Pro and the app in question I found here in XDA. However for my new phone I can't find anything... I tried all of the free and paid Google Play apps but they record only me and nothing from the person I'm talking with... Help me please!!!
Somewhere I read that I need to change the CSC code. Whatever it means... No idea how tho... Other thing I read was to root the phone. I've never done that as well... Basically I'm thinking of going to some randome phone repair shop and ask them to find me a solution whatever it takes... But first I decided to ask here.
If you have any idea what to do please include some instructions for dumb people like me with no experience in fiddling with phones etc..
Big thanks in advance!
I should probably tell you that I've tried this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...cord-phone-calls-from-the-phone-line.1441643/
And lots of things that are already written here as suggestions but... nothing....
I am trying out CallApp Contacts. So far it seems to work for 2 way recording. I am in the US and we do not have call recording here.
First of, do you know your phone model and CSC code? You should be able to spot it in Settings ->About phone -> Software information under Build number and Service provider software information.
Samsung only activates native call recording on the India firmware, so you will probably have to download that version of the firmware.
Do you still have said old phone (P30 Pro) & the download for the app on it?
Just asking cause you could send the app to your S22 from the other phone...

First of, do you know your phone model and CSC code? You should be able to spot it in Settings ->About phone -> Software information under Build number and Service provider software information.
Samsung only activates native call recording on the India firmware, so you will probably have to download that version of the firmware.

Following your steps I found this - oxm eux. That is it right?
About the firmware - do you know how I would do that? I mean how to download and install the indian version? Would that affect the warranty or anything important?

Do you still have said old phone (P30 Pro) & the download for the app on it?
Just asking cause you could send the app to your S22 from the other phone...

Yes I still have the app. I tried to install it but it returns some error. I'll attach a screenshot here.
In my previous phone Xiaomi Mi11 Ultra, TruePhone app work perfectly with call record's, but now with Samsung S22 Ultra and Android 12 don't work.
For me also call record's is very important, but i don't have the time and experience to change regions with Sammobile to make the call records work.
I am also from Bulgaria and have tried most of the available recording offers.
Her are some options
Non Root :
Change CSC. You needs paid tool, search SamKey and you will find lots result on XDA. This option is OK if you don't want to root but here your CSC will needs to change and network optimization won't be same as your own CSC
Root :
Modify CSC and enable call record, bit difficult if you are not pro witn modding
Use a ROM with Auto call record option (check development section)

Thanks for the suggestion! Maybe will try to do that... But can you give me some more info about what it means that network optimization won't be the same as my own CSC? Does that mean that I'm gonna lose connection here and there or some kind of fees?
Also how this change of the CSC code is going to affect my warranty?
csc change will void your warranty, and yes it is possible that your call, internet connection over mobile data may not be as good as it was/is on your current csc, but not a guarantee, you should check to find out if your prepared to sacrifice warranty for call recording, you could always reflash your original firmware

Well... The essentials of my work is talking on the phone and usually that includes tasks that I need to do with all of the details about them. We are working on communicating through e-mail but we are not there yet. The warranty is not that big of a concern but potential problems with the reception etc ... now that scares me...
Thanks for your time! I'll think about it... If you come up with something that is less risky please share!
My phone doesn't have call recording in the call app, but I just tried this one after some research, configured it, and made a call and it works
If this app ain't available in your country you could try an "index of" search or I can pull and upload the apk for you

I've tried the app. Sadly with no luck... I copied all the settings from your screenshots with the exception of enabling auto recordings. However the app doesn't create files... I'll upload screenshots of my sad empty folder... Do you know if I did something wrong? I have enabled all the permissions...
