any way to stop / kill / remove Music Player? - Samsung Gear S3

Hi,
With tizen 3.0.0.2 I started to monitor battery usage and it looks like Music player is pretty much up there consuming my battery. I never actually use music player so not sure why it consumes battery. Is there any way to stop it permanently or disable it somehow?
Thanks.

I second this, I've also noticed that half the time when my watch wakes it's now on the media player and not the watch face. Even when no media was playing. Cannot figure out how to stop that from happening yet.. but as soon as I have enough time to figure it out I will share it here

1.
It seems only affected T-Mobile SM-R765T with latest Firmware R765TUVU3CRD2
2.
We could try to identify if these are settings problem...
Or inside this Firmware is buggy Music Player App
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76472181&postcount=21
Maybe somebody here who is willing to identify problem...
Maybe workaround could be to replace this app, by older Version...
Best Regards

i did the following and so far, it seems to help but NOT sure if it will stick:
- force stop the app (music Player)
- clear cache on Gear S plugin, Gear IconX,
Gear
- restarted Gear and my phone (Note 8)
Battery still sucks. was far better on 3.0.0.1
**UPDATE 5/11/18** Did not help, still comes back, but not as often as it did.

While I still have not had time to look into this further, my guess is the only fix would be in the Gear app on our phone, notifications, and make sure we turn off notifications for whatever is causing this (not sure what the specific app would be as I am not wearing my watch right now so I cannot pull up the list of apps that I allow to send notifications to the watch)
That's the fix I intend to explore first, if you can check this for us, you may solve it now. Or maybe not lol

Unless I don't know where to look, there is no Music App under Notifications on the Gear app on my phone. It is a bug with the software update. See the last message here: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Wearable-Tech/New-Update-has-major-bugs-4-6-18/m-p/323436#M26792

i have verizon and i have this problem

THIS SEEMS TO BE A WORKAROUND.
I installed the Samsung Music App ( see https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76492498&postcount=75) on my phone.. Once it was installed, I noticed there was a cache. I cleared the cache. Cleared the recent apps on the Gear S3 LTE and now about 3 hrs later, the Music app has not popped up once and battery life seems better. Others try this and let me know if it helps your.

I switched back to the Samsung Galaxy S9 from a LG V30. It did it with the V30 and it's doing it with the S9. I have even switched my Gear S3 music player to the watch instead but it still pops up. I rest my watch Saturday morning when I connected it to my new S9. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mufic player on the phone cause I had the LG stock music player on the V30, I also user Poweramp. I think it is a software glitch.

Can somebody check this...

I agree it is a bad update, this is why I called it a POSSIBLE workaround. It kept that stupid popup away all day yesterday(13+ hrs). It popped up this am, when my watch went standalone. So I reconnected to my Note 8 and cleared the cache again. C'mon Samsung FIX THIS!!!

Yeah I've had this same issue as well. Going to install samsung music and hope it will resolve the issue. Even though it's annoying af with the media player popping up, my battery life is FAR better on this update than it has been in ages. I get 2..almost 3 days of use now, where in the past I only got 1 day. Hope we find a fix to this though.

Evernote?

Has anyone had any luck with Evernote on the S3?
Never tried it here hmmm good question
Yes, there's an unofficial app you can use. I use it at work and it does the job well.
https://sites.google.com/site/gearapplications/enotegear
You install GearHub from the play store to your phone, and use it to install ENoteGear to your phone, and login to Evernote.
Then search ENoteGear on Galaxy App Store on your phone and this installs the app to your watch.

ENoteGear works great.
I have a problem with loading my notes. After i start the ENoteGear on my Gear S3, the screen is stuck either at synchronization or waiting content...
Lot of Times only thing that helps is restarting the watch multiple Times.
Did this problem occured to you aswell? Did you figure a walkaround About this?

Same for me. Old versions for Gear 1&2&S worked fine but the new version for Gear S2/S3 work very very....bad and stuck major time at launch. It can works better if you take your phone and open GearHub while you launch the Gear App...... so .... almost unusable I deleted this app from my Gear
It seems when you delete a note on the web or pc app, then open up the gear app and it tries to sync, the app get stuck syncing. I've discussed briefly this issue with the developer on Twitter, but no resolution yet. It makes the app unusable.
I shall point the developer to this thread, to see if they can pop in and help.

New to Android wear - Outlook watch face

Hi All,
Thanks for the excellent support for newbies like me. Long time Apple user and now shifted to Samsung S8+ and Huawei Watch2. Love the watch so far. Keep reading various articles that Microsoft made a powerful watchface for Android wear. Trying to find the watch face for couple of hours and all links take me to the Outlook app on play store. I have outlook installed and configured, but not able to find the watch face on play store or the watch itself. Must be doing something stupid and would appreciate any help.
Thanks again
Hi, with outlook installed on the phone, I think you don't even need to install anything on the watch. I am on Android Wear 1.5 in my moto360v2, but I can see the watch face in the Android Wear app, or even in the watch itself when selecting a watchface.
This watchface is, for me, the best made for AW 1.5, but sadly is a bit useless if you do not have a lot of appointments in your outlook calendar. Anyway, check it up!
Thanks
Thanks for the quick response. For some reason it does not show up on the Android wear app on the phone or on the watch for me. Thinking they may not support Android Wear 2.0 version. Thanks again for taking the time.

hello to you,
I have HW2 ( and S8+too), outlook mail is present as app in the phone, as app and watch face on the watch. all just downloading apk from the store.
maybe you can try to delete and reinstall from phone and see if it appear into watch too.
If not, try to download from net outlook apk for phones (possibly last version), then with 7zip (or similar) extract micro.apk (included on "res" then "raw" folder and install it directly into watch by adb command (adb install nameoftheapp.apk).
with this little "push" maybe you can have it working on HW2
regards
Reinstalling worked
Thanks again. Followed your advice and reinstalled. Now how the app and watch face on HW2. Appreciate you taking the time to help newbies like me. Have a great weekend.

Hello There, thanks for your advice. I followed your instructions to install watch face on my watch, but it could not sync with my outlook calendar on phone. Any other tricks?
Thanks
Hello
I believe watch faces has nothing to do with calendar sync but I have no idea why you can't make it work
Regards
Appreciate your response. Two weeks ago, it just worked perfect. But suddenly it stop sync and only shows " all caught up, enjoy your day". Then I reset my watch, and no matter how I re-install my outlook in my phone, outlook watch face never shows up again. Now even use your method to installed watch face, seems the "outlook connections" on phone and watch are disconnected. That's why watch face could not be pushed to phone. Other apps just works well ( I installed on phone, and it will be pushed to my watch).
Any idea how to complete remove outlook from my phone and re-install?
Thanks

Hello
You can try to clear data and uninstall outlook app from your phone and it should be deleted from watch too. Then you can reinstall on the phone again and see if work on watch. If not you can try to manually install app on watch.
Just ideas, not sure if will solve the problem.
Regards
Tried all the ways, still not work: clear the data->uninstall outlook in phone->automatically uninstalled in watch->reinstall outlook in phone->no shows up in watch->manually install on watch-> watch face showed up-> calendar not sync --> failed again.
So just be curious to ask " is it possible that the problem is caused by new version of android wear". What's the version you are using? Is it working well?
Thanks again for your help.

Yes man I got downloaded the updated yesterday thinking it would be a fix to the only thing they needed to fix which was S voice. Today I noticed this very annoying garbage of the Music player poping up when I start the phone than constantly popping up when I make a phone call as well this is ridiculous. ALSO I wanted to make noted of another stupid thing they changed which is when you have the awake option on if you are on any other app another the watch face when you turn your wrist and it turns off the screen and you wake the watch again before it would just close that app and take you back to the watch face THE WAY IT SHOULD.
NOW IT JUST STAYS ON THAT OTHER APPLICATION WHAT EVER YOU LEFT OFF BEFORE SHUTTING OFF THE SCREEN IT IS THE MOST DUMB THING THEY COULD HAVE DONE. I HAVE CONTACTED SAMSUNG THEY TOLD YOU CANNOT GO BACK TO THE OLDER VERSION BEFORE THIS STUPID R765TUVU3CRD2. THERE IS ALSO NO WAY TO CHANGE THE SETTING ON ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS.
SO PLEASE TELL ME YOU GUYS CAN COME UP WTIH SOME SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A FACTORY RESET AS IT I HAD TO GO TO T MOBILE 3 TIMES BEFORE THEY GOT THE PHONE FOWARDING MY CALLS THE CORRECT WAY AND DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN.
I DID BACK UP EVERYTHING BEFORE I DID THE UPDATE LAST NIGHT SO MY AND TRIED TO RESTORE MY SETTING SOME STUPID THING.
I HAVE ATTACHED THE LINKS WHERE I RECORDED VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM. THIS DROVE ME CRAZY FOR HOURS TODAY. PLEASE GUYS HELP US ON TMOBILE WHY WOULD THE CARRIER MATTER FOR THE UPDATE I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY COULD HAVE MESSED THIS UP SO BADLY.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS YOU ALL MAY HAVE AS I WAS AND HAVE BEEN ENJOYING MY S3 UNTIL TODAY.
THANKS
I have been experiencing the same issue since updating to 3.0.0.2 yesterday. So infuriating. Obviously they didn't do very good testing before releasing this update.

Yes, and No.
I usually have AOD on so I turned off gesture. I just tried with gesture on and no music player popup.
However, I get music player popup when watch detects phone is too far away and want to turn on LTE (I have network autoswitch set to ON). A message would pop up saying LTE will be on in 30sec. Once I dismiss the msg, music player would popup. Annoying but at least it does not happen all the time.

Right. I don't have AOD on, but installed Samsung Music on my phone and then cleared the cache. Now the only time the Music Player shows up is when I am too far away from my phone like you. WTF Samsung. Did you send us an WiFi update on our LTEs? I, BTW, an on TMobile.

Nobody knows if Music Player is "called" by another App... from Gear itself or from Handset...
Maybe this buggy Version call/start itself... randomly...
We can only find out, if we disable...
1 Example.
If I search for Music Player in Gear Store... I see Samsung blabla...
Version is not like 1.2.20 or 1.2.34
Forgotten which one...
But you can Music Player in Gear... also open via this hit in Samsung Galaxy/Gear Store...
Maybe 10000 other funny possible ways to """force""" this app to start...
Maybe this is Samsung Feature...
In Tizen Samsung doing many """funny""" things... very frustrating.

Hello,
My friend has a Galaxy watch 4 classic and can answer Whatsapp calls on his smartphone whereas I can't on my Galaxy watch 4.
Is it because his smartphone is a Samsung and my isn't, or am I missing a setting?

I have a Watch 4 and can't answer calls either. Not only that, even when I answer the call on my phone, it doesn't send the audio over to the watch
This is disappointing as even a $10 "smartwatch" can do this ... and my phone is also a Samsung =)
I tried using Javascript commands to route the audio from phone speaker to bluetooth, but my bluetooth connection between the phone and watch only shows the Call profile, not the Media profile
Any ideas or solutions to suggest?
Found another solution, a full fledged Whatsapp for our watches. A guy called Joao modded below Beta to work on watch 4/5. Installation of file via ADB to watch, started WA to welcome screen, set wm density to 75 via Wear Installer app, clicked WA on watch to next screen with a beta info, reset wm density, was able to scroll down to QR code and connect watch WA via Linked Devices function to WA on phone. Works perfectly, almost all functions. Remember when playing around with wm density make a watch backup first.

You should have absolutely no problems to answer phone calls on your watch even if it's just Bluetooth. Have you checked permissions?
Otherwise you should reset your watch and restart it. (just do a complete backup of your watch face, settings and apps on your Samsung account).

Are you able to answer WhatsApp calls on your GW4? Normal calls are possible for me, just not WhatsApp calls. And even when I answer on the phone, the audio cannot get transferred to the GW4

on my R890 XXU1GVK4 it's working.
WA call is just passed through to the watch.
Nothing else to install for that.

Yes. It's on stock A13.
I think that must be why you can answer Whatsapp calls on your Samsung watch. My friend that can answer Whatsapp calls also has a Samsung smartphone whereas I use a OnePlus.
On A13 too
It works only on samsung smartphones, i have a Xiaomi 11 lite 5G NE and my wife have a S20FE, for her it works, for me not, both galaxy Watch 4 BT model.
Is there an updated version to work? This one says expired?
Thanks

There were updates posted in a Telegram chat, but in order to evade expiring betas these are based on you might as well install and sideload the regular app now, found on Whatsapp website under Package Installer link (it is a multi APK with arm7 and arm8 included). Unlike the modded beta the app will be shown in square however, but fully functional, and not expiring.

Hello! do you happen to know where this guy Joao originally released this version you posted and its updates? It's a quite more convenient mod than the regular apk since you don't have to modify dpi in the watch to syncronise with your account. On top of that it was modded to be fully displayed in the watch screen, not like the other versions which are cropped with the rounded screen making elements not completely available. Also he introduced some mod to open the apk from native notifications in watch...
For some reasons it seems to have been discontinued and it is not release into telegram groups etc.

Question Custom Notification Sounds and Ringtones no longer working after upgrading to the latest version of WearOS

I recently installed the latest version of WearOS onto my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic 46mm, I discovered that now I can't install the custom notification sounds and ringtones onto it. Does anybody know how I can resolve this issue?

I'm having the same problem and the only hint I read (file names < 6 signs) doesn't work for me changing notifications. Ring tones I didn't test.

Did this method survive an update?
Edit: just saw above it doesn't even survive reboot so an upgrade even less likely.
Who has already tried it, does it work?
Good afternoon,
Problem when adding ringtone to OPPO Watch. If you add them to the /sdcard/Ringtones/ category and after restarting the watch, they are displayed in the "Settings-Sound-Ringtone of the watch". The ringtone can be listened to and selected as a ringtone. However, during a test call to the clock, instead of the ringtone, a system sound similar to the sound of an error plays. And if you make a test call through "Find a device", then the ringtone works.
I tried to add a ringtone via ADB to the root of the system, where the standard ringtones are located. But, when copying, it gives an error. Through the file manager, when copying, the ringtone is not saved. Perhaps this is due to the restriction of rights. You need root rights.
Please tell me someone was able to deal with this problem?
Thank you!
After Samsung Watch 4 classic & Watch 4 Pro got the latest firmware update .Samsung locked many things.Like earlier one can add custom ringtones & notifications. But now one cannot at all.No matter what you do you can't set or add a custom ringtone or notifications. (BUT)
