I have loved omnirom for a while now, it is more feature packed than cyanogenmod. I was doing some research, and I was wondering how difficult it would be to re-add tabletUI. If we can add PIE controls and other alternate UI's, how difficult would it be to add tabletUI as its code is already written and online? I am no android developer, I am "just a n00b on xda-developers." Anyone have any ideas on this? I am just throwing this idea out. I really miss tablet UI.
How about using the existing thread instead of opening a new one?

Hello all Devs,
We have a very simple Appointment widget, is it possible to make it bit nicer and useful?
suggestions:
1. customizable range for appointments to show
2. customize look and organization of appointments like in HERO Sense UI
3. Transparency
I know there are range of free calender widgets but why not something built-in and/or modded. Makes life easier. I am the kind of person who likes to keep apps to the minimum.
Thanks and if this is wrong place to post this, please move it to the right place MODs.
yeah, I hate the stock calendar, can't get used to it. I like the Gemini Calendar, but need a 4x4 widget.

well, that said, we are talking about different things, I dont want a complete Calender replacement, just the modified Widget of it.
However, we agree that it needs to be changed, hopefully some Dev(s) will come forward.
Honestly, what's the difference between a market-downloaded widget and an XDA-downloaded mod/hack? It still requires extra effort. If you really want a gold star, you could commit those modifications back to Google's Android Open Source Project so they would come out of the box, perhaps with Gingerbread or H[named treat here].

well said, but dont you see the possibility that, if we have such a Mod, some chefs might just use that mod in their ROMs (just like the modded Music.apk) and by flashing that ROM we could have everything set?
Thanks for sharing ideas
I'm pretty new to the whole rooting scene. I currently have ClearDroid ROM. I definitely like it. Fast and all.
But. I've also used a few 2.3.3 Gingerbread + Sense ROM's and I also like the whole quick settings in the notification area and all the neat other stuff that 2.2 didn't offer.
My big $1,000,000 question is... Is it possible to keep ClearD's ROM but still import the 2.3.3 functions in such as the quick settings and lock screen and stuff like that. Or if there is something like that already available. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Cyanide
If that rom is sense based your best bet is to wait or contact the developer to see if he can make the 2.3.3 GB jump.
If it is not sense based or it is AOSP then those features cannot be added since they rely on the sense framework
Not quite sure if I was clear on my OP.
I was wanting to keep some 2.2 features, but add a few 2.3 features like the 2.3 lockscreen, quick settings and a few other things.
But I'll keep looking around.
I'm not familiar with doing changes in the system like that so i cannot tell if it requires the whole system or just some files replacements that will not create any conflicts.
If your looking for the lockscreen search in this forums there are few alternatives and maybe easy to do for example this one:

Hey everyone!
I've been searching multiple forums trying to figure out some stuff about ROM building. I got the basics down, have an AOSP version I built myself and sycn'ed and what whatnot. I am looking for information on various mods such as how do I put statusbar widgets in the AOSP Rom, battery percentage, lockscreen mods, stuff like that. Nowhere can I find a tutorial on what to change in the framework or other various files.
If it's just as simple as git pull can someone direct me to a tutorial? Basically my goal is to make a customized version of AOSP with some features from CM7 that fit my taste, learning how to do all this in the mean time. I have been learning Java and been tooling around eclipse learning how to make android apps, with one running great on my phone.
I am new but I have been researching and hope that someone here can help me learn how to add features into my Rom.
Oh and please don't refer me to a kitchen that will do all the work for me, I would like to learn how its done and do it myself but can't just jump in.
Thanks everyone who contributes!
Is it possible on android to make your own lockscreen from scratch, or at least a custom combination type thing because I've had an idea for something that would be nicer then a numeric lock but less of a failure then pattern.
* In retrospect I probably should've scrolled down to android section, oh well.
Yes, is possible but you must know programing in java..
Been doing java for a couple years, could you point me to a reference or something that its been done before?
Well, you could go learn Java programming language and go from there, or you can use an app called WidgetLocker. It's free in the Play Store but there is also a paid version available for purchase. With this App you can change the slider on your lock screen and also add widgets like you would on your homescreen. You can also add app shortcuts to it. If you'd like to download more slider options go to this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968613
There are hundreds of options to choose from. Just download it to your computer then drag it into your phones SD card and it should show up in the slider options. I hope this helps you out!
Y'know I know you probably want to get your 10 posts going and all but I see nothing in your reply that has anything to do with the original statement.
Sorry EphemeralMirage if no one has been of great help to you lately, I think he was just trying to help you and he was just trying to be nice. He didn't clearly understand your question, but being a bit nice to others would help in this forum.
You should probably check this guide out, have a look at it and see if it looks like what you need.
http://androidforums.com/sprint-hero-all-things-root/48610-guide-creating-custom-lockscreens.html
Thanks that looks like what I'll reference, as soon as I get the source stuff hammered out and all.
If you are looking to actually create your own way to unlock the screen
that is different than taking a stock method and changing the graphic.
It was something that I was going to look into, but I haven't got that far.
In the Nook, the screen unlockers are implemented in /system/framework/android.policy.jar
There are apparently three of them already:
LockScreen - the standard slide to unlock
LockPinKeyguardView - a four digit pin
LockPatternKeyguardView - apparently a pattern lock
So theoretically just use the source for that, add in yours and see what happens?
Then again that might be easier said then done, into AOKP I go!

I'm combining two questions/issues here so I don't fill up this forum.
1. I heard a rumor (or read it somewhere going through this forum?) that the custom ROMs for the 3113 rarely implement the IR drivers as a means of being more compatible with other versions of this tablet. Is this true? Are there ROMs that support IR? As a TS owner, this is fairly important.
2. Nova launcher - perhaps this is more of a complaint session than a question: On every device I've owned, I've seen hacks and mods to attempt to get "tablet mode" working on a 7" device. Overall, I believe the attempt is to get launchers to look more tablet like. Yes, the soft buttons move to the left, and the menu locations change, but overall, I'm assuming the holy grail everyone is searching for is the tablet look on the launchers.
I saw a support section on the Nova website where the developer stated that creating phablet and tablet modes was hokey and pointless (paraphrasing). My question would be, has anyone attempted to mod Nova to support a tablet mode on a 7" device? Really all we're asking for here is to move the side located launch bar to the bottom, allow the side margins to change pages, and put the search bar on the top.
Is this really that big of a deal??? What is it with this belief that a 7" tablet owner should be happy with a phone interface, and why are the devs of the launchers too stubborn to give us the option to decide how we want our layout? Is there something I'm missing here?
I've been through every launcher ever made (practically), and to date, I've only seen one offshoot of ADW do what we're asking, but unfortunately, performance was down, it was a little buggy, and I believe the dev may not have been babying the development.

1. To the best of my knowledge, the IR issue is based on the fact that it is proprietary software that belongs to Samsung - and they have not released the code, or given permission, etc for it to be used. The only "custom" roms that will have the IR option will be those using a stock Samsung rom as its base.
2. I cannot respond to the Nova Launcher question

Ah... That clears up a lot. Unfortunate as I thought Samsung was one of the leaders in open sourcing their code.

To point 2, the phablet ui was pushed by Google in jellybean. It has nothing to do with the homescreen devs. If you use a tablet ui hack, Nova works fine.

Well, really all a homescreen dev would have to do is allow us to move the the dock and search in portrait, right? I understand that tablet ui moves a few of the menus, etc, but I myself don't care that much about that (maybe I'm alone on this?. The big potatoes for me is the main home ui as I really don't like the dock on the side...
The control moving would be nice, but much lower on my list.

Doesn't ADW EX allow for the tablet-like homescreen option? I know you can put the dock on the bottom as opposed to the side, and the redesigned action bar can be put at the top. Only thing it doesn't do is put system UI in tablet mode.
