Spigen Neo Hybrid vs Tough Armor? - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

Has anybody tried both the Spigen Neo Hybrid and the Spigen Tough Armor cases?
I bought the Spigen Neo Hybrid from amazon for my S5 and I feel like it adds a bit more bulk compared to how the Spigen Neo Hybrid is on the S4 or the Nexus 5.
Has anybody tried them both and what's better in your opinion?
(I prefer slimness opposed to protection)

I have the neo hybrid and I absolutely love it. the quality s through the roof and the way it feels in your hand is amazing. the metalized buttons are very responsive and function perfectly. I have dropped my phone twice and it has done its job. I ordered mine off amazon and received it in about 5 days paid around 25

I don't know if I got a fake or what, but I got a Neo Hybrid from Amazon for $15 and absolutely hate it. The fit isn't the best but not terrible, but it just feels awful and makes the phone feel much, much bigger.
I prefer the Ringke slim or even the Spigen Slim to the Neo Hybrid by far. Protection without the bulk.

I have the Spigen Neo Hybrid and absolutely love it.
Great grip, snaps into place perfectly, and the metallic colored buttons feel good.

I have both versions of the the Neo Hybrid. I loved the S4 version but the S5 one is just too bulky in order to completely flat out the camera hump underneath. I'm currently waiting to buy one of the slimmer cases in a trip to the US.
Any new user to the S5 Neo Hybrid would love the build quality and toughness but the S4 version is miles better. IMHO this is not SGP's fault as their design goal for the NH is to have a flat back and S5's camera hump is a lot more prominent.
Cheers.

I also got one from Amazon, and it seems worse quality than what I had before on the s4... the rubber came scratched, the power button feels loose, and the volume rocker is actually slightly bent so it pops out quite easily.
I also ordered the tough armor case, and I like the feel and minimal bulk of the case. The only gripe I have with it is the fact that the power and volume buttons don't protrude, but I'll get used to it.

There are a lot of fake Spigen cases out there. each one comes with a code you can type in on Spigens website to let you know if it's genuine or not. I bought mine (Neo Hybrid) direct from Spigen for £19 and whilst it's good I think it adds a little too much bulk to the phone. It also makes accessing the USB port difficult if you keep your nails short.

[Q] are Spigen cases and SPs good?+ user experiance please read!

Hi, I have a very limited choice and they are:
Spigen Case Capsule
Spigen Case Tough Armor
Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case
Spigen Slim Armor Case (*)
Spigen Neo Hybrid Case
Spigen Thin Fit Case
SP:
Spigen Ultra Crystal Screen Guard
Spigen Crystal Hard Surface Screen Guard
Here are my questions:
I'm not buying these for protection at all, the reason i want to buy a case is i prefer to have a case when im outside (for some weird reasons i feel more comfortable with one outside )
and the reason i need screen protector is because my hands have so much friction to the screen! and btw the spigen kickstand sounds useful to me!
do you have any of these? do you like it?! (im basically asking for user experience)
Q1) Are any of those cases easy to take off? i plan to take it off once i arrive home! i don't want to scratch the metal of my note 4 and spend some time smashing it to take it off (and which of those are easy to take off?)
Q2) do the screen protectors help the friction? and do they bother the s-pen? i tried it on a note 2 with a random screen protector and it feels awful to work with, but those might be different!
I would go with the Neo Hybrid out your list. To me, it is the best looking case in you list. I've tried most of them. I don't think any of them are hard to take off.
The spigen crystal screen guards are good. I wouldnt say they would reduce friction, but they wont add to it. Spen is unchanged in funtionality.
The glass protector will produce a halo.

actually from my usage i found even gorilla glass 2 to be scratch-proof for me so the only reason i want screen-protector is friction, i can't play nova (my hands stick to screen) lol
but thanks for answer! don't they scratch the metal part of the Screen?!

None of the cases scratch the metal. particles between the case and metal scratch the metal.
I have the Spigen Tough Armor.
Nice case, feels good in the pocket. Good protection, rubber corners and such. The buttons are a little hard to identify by feel alone, that's one complaint.
Second complaint is the kickstand - Not so great. It clicks into place and it's HARD to get it out with just your fingernail. Then once you get it out, it flops around so you have to kind of hold it in place while you prop up the phone... and any bump will flip it back closed and cause your phone to fall.

thanks for you answer sounds like i better choose the neo(althought the Tough Armor's rear guard sounds god! and i might give the screen protector a try! i guess they don't change screen quality either!
How does the Tough Armor compare against the Slim Armor?
I'm gonna be getting a Galaxy Note 4 soon and I'm looking into getting a either a Spigen Tough Armor or Slim Armor case.
Spigen Neo Hybrid
I have a Spigen Neo Hybrid for my Note 4 and honestly, I am kind of disappointed. I had it for my Samsung S4 and Note 3 and absolutely love the case for those phones. Never had a problem.
Even though the it fits perfectly for the Note 4, the trim is beginning to have the paint fade and chip away (never had this problem with the S4 or Note 3).
Also, regarding the Spigen Neo Hybrid, it is cut so specifically that some aftermarket micro USB or headphone jacks might not fit.

I have a Spigen Case Capsule and it is not good, the sides are too sharp. The overall feel of it is not good so I would steer clear.
Also with or without a case on the phone you can use the S pen as a kick stand.

yeah i tried the s-pen trick but it didn't work for me still im not gonna do that because i might damage my s-pen, specially that there are no replacements here i heard some bad about case capsule somewhere else too saying that its too sharp. but sounds like the other ones are not bad! anyway i was just going to order today
edit: after a bit of using my screen protector no longer has friction! It has so much reflection but anyway i changed my mind now its smooth and good! It just needed to be used a little!

I only wish the kickstand was more solid.

I HAVE BOTH. Tough Armor is a little thinker than the Slim Armor. They both protect very well. and the thickness is not noticeable. But if you the type that is a stickler for the slim of the phone, go with the slim armor.

Ok my order arrived today, Let me start with case: its bulky but awesome i love it! buttons are not that terrible but not great, doesn't bother me really, its weird but it makes heart rate sensor easier to use i love it in total, worth the money
(and as you said the kickstand isn't great, but it doesn't really matter much to me)
i also ordered a xionami mi power bank its awesome but super-heavy, anyway
the screen protector is awful, just terrible, i mean, it made me cry to install, after an hour i installed it (a bit miss aligned ) and it not only makes screen look awful, but also gives it even more friction! the only reason i didn't take it right of is money :S i will let it be there for a little bit just for test! and give the other one to a friend or something ! (and i regret applying the wet cloth to screen, realized it was alcohol soaked cloth and it probably damaged my screen s-pen feels aweful to use! its not accuracy but how it feels! i felt that it's damaging my nib so put the old already used nib i had! this was my first and last screen protector
I have the Spigen Tough Armor in gunmetal blue. It does a great job and it is a little bit slimmer than my Otterbox Defender, which I mainly use when I'm at work. Otherwise I use the Spigen when I'm at home or everywhere else but work when I want something less bulky at times.
Also you can't beat the kickstand that comes on the back of the tough armor.

Yeah, I've seen that online. But Spigen's Neo Hybrid Line of cases don't seem to offer as much protection as their Slim and Tough Armor line of cases does.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z3 cases

Hi,
just bought a xperia z3. After my experiences with previous phones, I know how clumsy I am and how easily I damage my phones. This time I want to look after it.
I am after a very protective case but nothing too bulky. I once has a TPU gel case for my previous phone (Galaxy S5) and when I dropped it, despite being in the gel case the phone still suffered a dent. SO after such an experience, this time I definitely want something that can absorb shocks.
I have seen the TECH21 case for the Z3 and was wondering whether anyone can offer any feedback or reviews on it. I know about TECH21 and their brilliant D30 material which is best in industry at protecting phones. My main concern with it atm is I don't think it is the nicest looking case and I would have liked to get a case which preserves the look and shape of the sexy Z3.
XDA wont let me post a link of the case but if you type in "tech21 xperia z3" on Google and click on the 3rd link then you will see it.
If anyone can offer any feedback or alternative cases that fulfill my criteria.
Thanks!
I'm waiting for Spigen slim armor. It is sexy and provides double layered protection but maybe slightly bulky. I have it on my N5, it looks slick and I dropped my phone enough times over a year to cause dents and scratches all over the case but never cracked or shattered the screen. Also had a ZAGG Invisibleshield screen protector which still looks awesome.

Whatever you do, do NOT buy Spigen ultra hybrid for Z3.
The buttons are so tight that just slightly tapping anywhere on the right edge results in both power and volume buttons being pressed down. In addition to that nightmare and consequently, you cannot power on or off the screen since the volume buttons are being pushed in as well. The ultra hybrid for Z3 is no good.

I wouldn't anyways. I'd rather have my USB port closed out than not being able to dock the phone without removing the case at night.
^ Pretty lucky I didn't get the spigen then.
I just got my z3 (from an s3) and was looking at spigen as I had spigen accessories for the s3 and had a relatively good run with it.
I ended up buying a Nilkin for the accessories. z3 stuff below:
http://www.nillkin.com/english/product.asp?bid=982&mid=2&sid=0&tid=0
Got the 9H tempered glass and the super frosted hard back cover case.
The tempered glass came with a back glass sheeting protector, but I found the hard cover case to be quite adequte. Slim enough to not be bulky, but has enough of an edge to give some level of protection if it were to fall on a flat surface. I was also considering getting the armor border cases but it seems like it'd add some bulk, plus the if it's too big it'll be hard to access the ports/plugs. Just waiting for my magnetic chargers to come in now...
I had a Tech21 case on my original Z. It was great.
Can't find one in the UK for my Z3 though. I'm using a Ringke Fusion clear case, which is good too.
I'd normally use a Casemate Tough, but I like showing off my copper Z3
Oh, and get a good 9h glass front. It's so much nicer than the one that comes on the phone. Less fingerprints too.

Form where did you get the case, I havent been able to find it aside from the chinnese copys. thx
^ I think he meant that he's waiting for slim armor to be out for the z3.
I don't think Spigen will make a Slim Armour case. All the big manufacturers such as UAG, Trident and others seem to have skipped the Z3. I'm using the Incipio case which seems to be one of the best.

Spigen Neo Hybrid, or Otterbox Commuter?

Which case would you put your trust into more?
I currently have the Spigen which I could take back for $15, and I have an Otterbox on the way that I spent $5 through coupons on which I can sell for $25.
But I don't care about money, I only care about which one you think will be best for my phone.
This is the second phone I've bought an Otterbox Commuter for. I love the Commuter's styling and protection and wouldn't buy anything else.
Commuter.i had to the hybrid but the commuter is way better
I have the neo hybrid cc and I love it. I love the fact that it's clear so you can show off the beauty of the phone. It's is very slim and has quite a bit of rubber material around the entire edge which seems to provide total coverage. I haven't dropped it yet, but I feel confident that I'll be good to go if I did. I also advise getting a tempered glass screen protector with this case. It will fit just inside the edges, leaving only a tiny gap around the edge. Hope this helps.
I have the spigen neo hybrid. Dropped the phone twice already? and
Still as it was when it came out of the box..?
The Otterbox Commuter has my vote.
I have the Neo Hybrid CC case and I love it. It adds very little bulk and yet the phone feels secure. I haven't dropped it yet *knock on wood* but it feels like it (the phone) would be OK if I did.
Personal opinion on the look of the Commuter case (and Otterbox cases in general) … This is a stunning phone. Probably the one of if not the nicest Android devices ever. Why would you put it in such a bulky, unattractive case? I mean, unless you work in construction, or have a history of dropping phones like crazy.
Otterbox Commuter
The otterbox commuter is just a tougher case.
I've trusted my phones to otterbox for 3 years now. Never had a broken phone through multiple drops including high speed fumbles that end up skittering across a concrete floor. Even stepped on my phone once with no damage.
Speck CandyShell
Sorry for not answering with Otterbox or Spigen but please hear me out.
I purchased an S4 on launch day 2 years ago and immediately had it in a Spigen Neo Hybrid. I used the Neo Hybrid for several months then switched to an Otterbox commuter which I used until getting the S6.
Between the S4 Neo Hybrid and Otterbox Commuter I felt like the Neo Hybrid looked better but the Otterbox Commuter was more durable.
I purchased a Spigen Neo Hybrid CC for my S6 when it was on Slickdeals discount code for $6.00
I used it for a few days and tried to like it but it just didn't compare to the Speck CandyShell case that I got for my wife's IPhone 6. The Speck CandyShell is a one part case.
I picked up a Speck CandyShell white and black and it will likely be the case I use for the next 2 years. When you put it on the phone it seriously makes the case feel like part of the phone.
The quality is great and it feels like it will protect the phone better than the Neo Hybrid CC. My brother has the base version of the Spigen Neo Hybrid on his S6 and the first thing he said when he felt my case was that he should have gotten it instead.
One downside to the case is that the power button and volume buttons are in the rubberized portion of the case exterior and do not provide the crisp feel of the metalized buttons on the Neo Hybrid case.
Another downside is that the back plastic shows small scratches easily. They do offer a grip version which has rubberized grip on the back which would keep the plastic from contacting the surface when setting the phone down.
Before selecting a case please go to Best Buy and test out the Speck CandyShell. You should be able to pull the case out of the box and put it on your phone to test.
So far I really like my Neo Hybrid. I had an Otterbox Commuter on my M8 and it was ok
Try the uag just got it. I have the commuter not even close. Protective and thin

Verus Ironshield vs Spigen Neo Hybrid Metal

Has anyone put their hands on both of these cases? I basically narrowed down to one of these. They are strikingly similar to me on paper. I just want to see if anyone can push me one way or the other. Thx.
Hi,
I got SGP Metal Case. It fits perfectly and protects my Note. However, after unmounting couple of times the metal frame slightly bend and no longer adhere (<-- used translate on this word ) as perfectly as before.
Both are practically the same but it all depends how much you want to spend and the colors you want to get.
Go for spigen
The spigen looks slicker in real world, plus the side button implementation is way better than verus.
The verus buttons have a rubbery feeling while pressing which I don't like.
Have the Spigen Neo-Hybrid one, must say it is pretty nice.
Only downside would be if you are constantly swapping out batteries.
Taking off the case is a little annoying, but I haven't yet as battery life is
pretty decent on 4.4.4.

+1 for Neo Hybrid. It's solid, the buttons work great, it's real easy to grip, and it's about as small as a useful case can be.
Thanks for all input. I just disordered the blue Neo Hybrid metal case. It looks really sexy based on one of the YouTube reviews.

Good choice on the SGP. I had the Verus at first and found the buttons (power and volume) very difficult to press - as if there was no tactile feel. I switched over to Neo hybrid metal and the buttons feel 1000 times better. I narrowed this down to the tpu inlay of the Verus not having cutouts for button placement. SGP has segmented cutout for the buttons which gave it great button feel. In fact you can use the SGP tpu inlay and the Verus metal bumper fits over it fine with very marginal differences.
The neo hybrid started wearing and scuffing the aluminum off my Note 4. I could see silver in the corners of the case.
After I got a replacement I went with a clear I-Blason to avoid the wear and have good protection. Plus less bulky.
How does it get scratched with TPU in between?
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Received the Blue Neo Hybrid Metal Bumper. It looks very slick. The buttons are great. The only downside is that not the whole bumper is blue. The champhered portion is chrome. I wish it was anodized aluminum like the Verus Ironshield, but the Verus doesn't have the slick button implementation. I guess there isn't a perfect case.
Have you tried using the heart rate monitor sensor on the back with Neo Hybrid case on? The gap was small and you can hardly get a good stable reading as u need to squeeze the finger tip into that deep cut out. Secondly the metal bezel is brushed but yet susceptible to scratches. As my first case is Spigen Neo Hybrid, it does finely scratched the bezel over the time when i remove it to replace the battery.

Question What do people think of the Samsung official cases

I have the clear with stand, leather and the PVC case. All three aren't great in my view.
The clear with stand has scratched far too easily, the leather scores too easily and the PVC is a lint magnet, which makes it unpleasant to use. Anyone else have different experiences?
I got the elago hybrid, and Spigen liquid air too. Both considerably less expensive. Zero issues.

I have the OEM leather case. Looks nice, but, I used it for about 5 minutes, it makes an already large phone a real handful.
I'm using an ultra thin carbon fiber case:
Super Slim Case for Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 6.8", Real Aramid Fiber Protective Cover Skin/Wireless Charging Friendly https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PRV3Q3...t_i_7M7WCKXKNVSTHFRN2DJQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
While it doesn't provide as much drop protection as most cases, it provides good protection from everyday wear & tear/scratching.
Overpriced and quality-wise not so good I would say.
i just go on aliexpress and buy multiple cases at <$5. all the ones on amazon are just marked up cases that ali express sells anyway
I've fallen in love with the strap case.
I use the original leather case after i tried the original sillicon case. The sillicon was to sticky hard to get it in the pocket and out
I love the original leather case because it has single holes for every camera it looks much cleaner that way also the feel of the leather. I dont worry about scratchmarks they tend to go away after a few days because its leather you have to use it for a while to get it resistant with your hand oils and fats till it looks good you can also balm it with leather balm
I understand people who dont like the nature of leather but you have to know it will change its appearance with time and you have to care for it
When i know it will be a dirty day, gardening working on the car doing craftswork i just slip on the sillikon case
I have the leather case now 3 weeks and it looks greater then as it was new
Been using their silicone case since the Note 9. Have the one with strap for my Ultra and can't go to any other case. Quality is superb and the grip is very nice.
I bought the Samsung Rugged case when I got my Note9. I used it until I traded-in the Note9 for the S22 Ultra. I never had any problems with it and my Note9 looks brand new. Unfortunately, the new cases from Samsung are poor quality by comparison, so I went with a different brand.
I bought both Smart View Flip and Samsung's silicone cases for my S22 Ultra, like them both! Very good. I currently use the smart view flip case and thought I would get annoyed opening and closing the front cover but ultimately, I ended up liking it more than the open covers.
I just wish they used the nice silicon material like on their silicon case version which feels much nicer than the material used on the smart flip view case.
