Or go to settings. Click more. Then click default sms app and choose messages.

How do I disable that?? Its frikking annoying! I tried looking for the disable feature in settings of stock messaging app. Nowhere to be found, as if it just snuck in there. Where the hell is it? I want it gone.Ugh!
Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk
are you talking about an actual window that pops up or just the notification icon in the top left?
A window. Like the handcent one but. Looks different. It shows the message then two buttons underneath. Reply and dismiss.

What Rom are you using
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I have had that before on my phone. It was quite a while back and I "think" it was part of another application I had downloaded but I don't remember which one... maybe back track what you have downloaded and uninstall til you find it. Worth a shot...
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
This looks like the pop-up you get when you are on the phone talking and get another call and is giving you the option to send a txt to the caller. The option is there in the stock ROM which I am sure is carried over to custom ROM's.
I have never seen this pop-up but others have. If you have a custom dialer that may be why.
go into Settings > Call > Phone settings (or similar for a custom dialer)
I believe this is a setting within the MIUI rom... I could be wrong though.
Since when did we get adds in the notifaction bar
Does anyone know what app I might be using that could cause this?

Looks like airpush ( http://www.airpush.com/ ). Install any new apps recently? Have any apps that ask for these permissions:
INTERNET
READ_PHONE_STATE
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
Click to collapse
plus optionally these:
VIBRATE
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Click to collapse
Of those the boot completed one would stand out the most. One way to try and find out would be to reboot the device and then immediately check what apps are running before doing anything else.
http://www.airpush.com/
What apps do you have installed? When you find the one doing it post the name of it so everyone can report it as malware
I hacked up a simple app that will search for installed apps using airpush: http://kllrnohj.com/android/FindAirpush.apk
(for those so inclined, the is source here: http://kllrnohj.com/android/FindAirpush.zip )

Ok it's an app called "easy filter call and SMS blocker" which had now been removed from my phone.
It does mean I now need to find a new way to block my mum's calls and texts.

There are tons of call blockers out there, have you tried the root call blocker app? Not sure if it blocks sms as well, but I've heard great things about it. You can always use Handcent or another SMS app and blacklist the numbers you want to block.

Every now and then i get a notification about a free gift card from wal mart... No its not an email notification or from any app.. If I click on it, it takes me to a web site to apply.. Is there any way I can get rid of this?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
Is it a text message? You had to have given Wal-Mart your cell phone info at some point. Only way to stop it is to change your marketing preferences at Wal-Mart.com and turn off any notifications in the preferences. It has nothing to do with the phone.
Its not a text. It just randomly pops up in the notification bar. If I click
On it, it takes me to a web site to sign up.

Uhm, text notifications show up in the bar. If the text includes a link it would also be in there. You might want to read up on the workings of your phone a little more.
Take a screenshot next time.

repost pic, can't read.
its probably some app you have installed. try to find it an uninstall.

Looks like an Airpush ad (or similar) - they go to the notification bar.

Ya seems like airpush, use this app to figure out which one it is https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&feature=search_result
Idk why the screen shot comes out like that. I just repost it twice now and it looks the same. And I'll give airpush a try. Thanks
Edit: you were right. It was an app I had that lets see south park. It solved the issue. Thanks guys
I used the manual opt out to permanently remove airpush.
Apparently you can still keep the app. I'll test it out... so far so good.
Here: http://www.airpush.com/imei
Edit: I just put my IMEI and hit submit.
Hello, I often need to send text messages to a group of people.
There, i always get the warning "Messenging app is sending a large number of messages".
Although i press allow, not all members of the group receive the message, thats really annoying.
I already researched the net, but non of the apps or tutorials worked. (maybe outdated).
Therefore does anyone know how to remove or set the limit to a higher number.
btw. im on Nougat (lineage14.1)
thx for reply.
I tried to reproduce this warining, therefore I used SMS Bomber. Heres the screenshot:

That's an effect of the app. Are there any settings in the app to turn the warning off? Also, if you're using that app to send to everyone then it's something about the app that is causing some of them to not get your message.

G'day folks. I have updated from the s7 and cannot find enhanced messaging on the s8+.
Anyone else in the same boat?
Think they just changed how the settings are, but these are features for Advanced Messaging and I do see it working.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for. Using Samsung messaging app, go to settings (3 dots top right), then more settings, you'll then see seperate settings for text messaging and multimedia messaging.
Hope this helps.

Interesting. I followed the instructions, yet still do not have the chat settings in the Samsung messaging app, v 4.3.03.2/msg svc 4.1.02.48. I have CarHDROM installed on 955F, so will look around for a solution.
