Enhanced Messaging Gone? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

G'day folks. I have updated from the s7 and cannot find enhanced messaging on the s8+.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Think they just changed how the settings are, but these are features for Advanced Messaging and I do see it working.

Cannot Enable enhanced messaging
Using Google Messages - getting Excuse the wait....
Messages will let you know when this step is complete. It never completes.
Anyone else getting this.

Don't know if this is what you're looking for. Using Samsung messaging app, go to settings (3 dots top right), then more settings, you'll then see seperate settings for text messaging and multimedia messaging.
Hope this helps.

I recently wrote a blog on this particular issue because it was driving me absolutely insane. Hope it helps!

Interesting. I followed the instructions, yet still do not have the chat settings in the Samsung messaging app, v 4.3.03.2/msg svc 4.1.02.48. I have CarHDROM installed on 955F, so will look around for a solution.

What Rom are you using

I have had that before on my phone. It was quite a while back and I "think" it was part of another application I had downloaded but I don't remember which one... maybe back track what you have downloaded and uninstall til you find it. Worth a shot...
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
This looks like the pop-up you get when you are on the phone talking and get another call and is giving you the option to send a txt to the caller. The option is there in the stock ROM which I am sure is carried over to custom ROM's.
I have never seen this pop-up but others have. If you have a custom dialer that may be why.
go into Settings > Call > Phone settings (or similar for a custom dialer)
I believe this is a setting within the MIUI rom... I could be wrong though.

Where is Text Message Search option?

I don't see an option to search my text messages for specific words. I'm hoping I'm just blind so help a fellow M8'r out of this conundrum.

That is the default htc messages. Vzw added their own also which should sounds like your using. Hop to the settings clear default of the vzw messages app and it should ask next time what massager app u want to use. Then Choose the standard messenger app
Or go to settings. Click more. Then click default sms app and choose messages.

Default applications in 6.0 ... disappointing

How is it possible that on 6.0 it is not possible to choose an application, for instance, to open an image without setting it as the default application for that kind of intent? There is no more "use always" nor "this time only" labels [emoji35] [emoji35] [emoji35]
That is ridiculous...
On Google 6.0 it is not like that...
Is there any way/hack to re enable it? this way the system is unusable....

That's just for Web urls not for the intents... for example, opening a pdf from an app, the first time it let me choose, then I have to go there and press "Clear Defaults" every time... otherwise my choice is forever

Yeah, the web urls options doesn't fix the problem. Has anyone found a solution to this? It's beyond frustrating; there are multiple types of files or links I choose my app for situationally (pdf, word doc, images in texts, even urls, as I don't always like to use the same browser...)
The only workaround i've found is to use an app called "Better open With" free from the playstore that allows to register itself files types then it shows you a choice "like" the old android versions

Yeah that's there, but I think you still need the WiFi calling app that comes with it to enter your address information (unless that's changed).
So how you get there ?
I don't have that anywhere
Install this program from play store
Scroll down to here
Look for wifi calling
Then in here

Yep. It's in my Quick Settings in the notification pull down.

Anyone lose HD calling after enabling Wi-Fi calling? Even after disabling it I've noticed calls with my wife are no longer HD.

Remove SMS limit warning (outgoing) on Nougat?

Hello, I often need to send text messages to a group of people.
There, i always get the warning "Messenging app is sending a large number of messages".
Although i press allow, not all members of the group receive the message, thats really annoying.
I already researched the net, but non of the apps or tutorials worked. (maybe outdated).
Therefore does anyone know how to remove or set the limit to a higher number.
btw. im on Nougat (lineage14.1)
thx for reply.
I tried to reproduce this warining, therefore I used SMS Bomber. Heres the screenshot:

That's an effect of the app. Are there any settings in the app to turn the warning off? Also, if you're using that app to send to everyone then it's something about the app that is causing some of them to not get your message.
