[Q] Help with CWM - General Questions and Answers

This should be fairly simple, but I can't get my head around it.
I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618324
and installed CWM but at the moment I hold down the volume up+down+home+power buttons and I see CWM for a second before it disappears and the phone boots normally
any help is greatly appreciated

M not sure it will work or not ? but Try this combination vol.up+home+power

[Q] Problem Installing Clockwordmod

I just got my g tab today and tried to install clockwork mod following the guide. device detected the recovery key and went into the install screen but immediately rebooted and now when i try to install it doesnt even detect the recovery key. the viewsonic splash screen comes up when i hold power and vol + buttons and then shuts off immediately, but if i try a normal powerup i get the stock UI. I know this is a stupid question but i am new to this so some help would be appreciated.

[Q] i think i am bricked

i have the inspire and i rooted it with no problems. now this is all new to me so i need some major help. i downloaded a rom from the rom manager app on my phone. pretty sure it was a coredesign rom. i backed up my existing rom and followed all the prompts i was given before installing the rom installed and the phone rebooted/ but now i am stuck on the htc screen and cannot get past it. i tried a hardschock of the phone but i am still stuck ont the white htc screen. any help to get my phone up and running would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
have you tried booting into recovery by holding, the volume down and power buttons, and then falsh your recovery?
Pull the battery. Put it back in, hold the volume down button then while its down press the power button. That will put you in the bootloader. Go down to recovery and press the power button. In recovery wipe the phone and wipe cache, then installe your rom.

[Q] soft brick everytime i try and enter cwm

So ive rooted the phone and checked it with root checker says im properly rooted and bootloader is installed properly also. Ive followed instructions on the forum and even watched some step by steps on youtube. My problem that keeps occurring is when i try to enter cwm any which way it softbricks my phone. Ive found a way around having to odin, you just have too put the phone in download mode for 5-6 mins and then hold the power till it brings the battery up, if the battery actually shows its charging you did it long enough and go head and hold power to restart. Ive had to do this like 5 times already and dont know what could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks vguaderrama
This belongs in General, not Development.
Entering CWM would not in any way soft brick your phone, flashing roms can, but not entering CWM. the hard key combo to enter cwm is VolUp+VolDown+Power+Camera, which should work, even if you're soft bricked.
If you were really softbricked, letting it sit in Download Mode wouldn't help without using Odin.
sorry new to posting usually can get most things on my own just from reading thanks for the help tho really appreciate it.

To enter recovery its just Vol Up + Vol Down and power
Touche, I've been holding an extra button all this time...
Hold +/- down like it was a button

You have to hold the volume button down completely not just up or down, plus or minus, press the whole thing down as if it wasn't a multi fuction button.
What's happening?
When you try to boot into CWM, what happens? Do you get a black screen, the sidekick 4g logo or...? How did you install CWM?
I had a problem when I first installed CWM where it would hang on the sidekick 4g logo. It turned out that when I used adb to push the recovery onto the phone it set the file permission as read-only. I used the adb shell to change the permissions ("chmod 755 /system/bin/recovery") and it booted after that.

Reboot TWRP without OS, can't get back into TWRP - Bricked?

Hi all,
First of all I would like to apologize if my question is answered somewhere else already, I have searched the web for 2+ hours and cannot find anything that gives a solution to my specific problem/question.
After wiping my data/system/cashe etc. through TWRP 3.0 I rebooted ignoring the message that there was no OS installed. I knew there was no OS installed and my intention was to get back into TWRP after the reboot.
To my surprise my phone did not go into the TWRP menu on its own like it did before (previous problem was a TWRP bootloop, but that's a different story). Pressing the volume down + power button does not bring me back into the recovery modem for TWRP either.
The only screen I can reach is the download mode (by holding volume down + power + home button) where I previously used Odin to flash the Kernel and install TWRP.
I think I messed it up by rebooting without any OS, which now prevents me from getting back into TWRP. I hope there's anyone who can help me by either pointing me in the right direction or put me out of my misery by telling me I should accept my fate of having a bricked phone.
Any help or answer is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Odin back to stock
What was posted above orrrrr you could try booting into download mode and hit cancel (restart) then quickly hit and hold the TWRP combo, this method works for me.
AFAIK ROMs don't touch recovery so OS or no OS you're fine I believe.

I'd say it is simply a matter of not doing the button combo properly tbh... That is the impression I get

Yeah more or less, I just noticed it gives you an extra few seconds with DL mode.
I've managed to get back into TWRP by installing the stock rom and TWRP through Odin.
Right now im installing Nougat, hopefully it was worth the few extra grey hairs...
Thanks for the help all!
