The above url is for all users to legally voice their dissatisfaction in AT&T's practices ranging from: crippling HSUPA, defective GPS, Froyo 2.2 delay, etc. in this awesome device.
Considering all the replies the Captivate forum alone handles it would be interesting to see how soon AT&T would react to forms submitted by each of you????????
I just filed my complaint...everyone else should file complaints as well!!!

You do realize the last two are the result of Samsung. Nothing AT&T can do here. The GPS issue affects all Galaxy S devices worldwide. In addition Samsung has yet to release an official Froyo build to any carrier.
Now, to help your argument you could add:
AT&T has crippled/disabled front facing camera.
AT&T prevents side loading of apps.

Am fully aware, but they certainly could apply similar pressure to Samsung as they have to Steve Jobs's ummmmm...... bumper..........reception issues?
ETC. was an invite to fill in the blank for all others.

Doesn't it have an AT&T branding on it though? If so, then for all intensive purposes, AT&T is liable for its shortcomings. Although, I'm not a lawyer.
Plus have you seen the ATT videos on youtube they show how they ruggedly test their phones to bring only the best ones through which they release on ATT. This why they dont allow side loading. If they do so much testing on the phones they must have caught this earlier.

Source??? I call BS.
yeah i think he was mistaken, i just checked my phone and i have firmware update 1, may have been because i ran odin 1 click though and it may have auto installed it. in any case though, if you do have problems with the phone, in general it is a good idea to have it replaced.
i sent a complaint form though . power.
I put in my complaint, hopefully something happens soon.
For the brief couple of hours I had my Captivate [nothing against the phone, it had to do with the retailer, letstalk.com], I noticed that it had and update as well, out of the box... try running the software update on the phone, it may be up for download
I just ran mine..."no update"

Think we'll get this instead of 2.3.3? (Adds video chat to Google Talk, so most likely not on the Nexus One).

"carl" seems to think so..... but my guess is sense its tmobile we will get 2.3.3 in july-august (even though they say june/soon)
and wont see 2.3.4 till mid fall....
but ill give a 9/10 for wishful thinking
Maybe not officially but CM7 will have this and other unofficial roms.
I'd rather get frequent steppings and options then 1 upgrade in a year.

Maybe so, but since they specifically say it's for video chat (ie. front facing camera) would make sense it would hit the G2x sooner rather than later (yes, yes, I know, I said "Make Sense" in regard to a Carrier). Would also explain why the G2X didn't hit with 2.3.3 with 2.3.4 in the wings.
Note: Google Tweet says this is heading to the Nexus One also

Android 2.3.4 OTA rolling out over the next few weeks! Has bug fixes for Nexus One, video chat for Nexus S. But a surprise is still to come!
I have trouble understanding why people complain about not getting updates.
You purchase a phone with specific version....why is update required?
I think updates for bug fixes are required but fixes for improved features....not so much...
In that case I should call honda our chevy to get my updates....
In some cases the updates are promised in which case it should be given on schedule but when its not promised....just be glad they aren't charging for them like apple......
I don't see anyone "complaining" about not getting updates. It was a simple musing on an announcement.

There's sort of an expectation when it comes to software that you'll get updates for at least 12 months after purchase. Maybe not new software outright, but at least be up to date with whats current.
But even then, this phone would benefit hugely from a software update and I do think it's up to Tmobile and LG to fix a few of the launch issues.

No one was complaining, they were just speculating. Also, upon release the g2x was already "behind" in it's os version compared to some other phones, which creates even more of an expectation for a timely release of a new version.
Also, are you really from the camp where you expect NO additional features stemming from updates for your phone? If that is the case, you probably would be better off with a *phone.

There's a difference between "wanting" one and "needing" one. This phone is buggy as crap. I'd love Gingerbread but I'd settle for:
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a radio that get along.
- Bluetooth that remembers profiles.
- Not getting random reboots.
- Faster 4G than my old G2.
- A signal indicator that displays what the phone's actually doing.
There's more, but you get the idea.

Probably because in most cases you have to sign up for a 2 year contract, which is like 5 years in techland. But that's just me.
Just an FYI, Google pushed the source and binaries for 2.3.4 to ASOP a little while ago.. and the signed update.zip for Samsung is available for direct download.
Sooner than we think may really be sooner than we think.

With the code now in ASOP, I would imagine that it will be a part of the CM7 build that finally gets released for us.

That thread was discussing the upcoming ota and being ready for it.
This thread is a post update discussion. Also that thread was cleverly and so descriptively named 'update'. I hope to keep this one uncluttered and on topic.
Plus this one is actually in the proper location. So you should probably go troll somewhere else that doesn't make you look ignorant.

I hope improvements to 'camera stability' means improvements for when the camera:
isn't playing nice with multi-tasking,
isn't sleeping properly,
might be the cause of phone over heating,
might be the cause of random reboots,
might be the source of battery drain...
15:00 EST. "There are no updates available for your phone."
Chill out everyone. They have a 2-3 week window to roll out the update. It is Monday morning, and you know how Monday's are. I wouldn't expect to start seeing anything until later today or even tomorrow.

While I get what you're saying, it's hard for me to remain calm considering how erratic my signal is. Sometimes the phone just decides it has no sim card even though it does. Data hanging? Yep, I got that. Sporadic text notifications or lack thereof? Check. Having my phone function just as a phone would ease my nerves a little bit but as it stands it does it's own thing and it seriously affects my day to day.

Have you tried the EU update yet? I would suspect this US update is going to be very similar to what is already available in Europe.

to be honest I hope it wont be that similar. I am on 1.78, sim free phone, and it reboots sporadicly when switching from hsdpa to wifi.... I am crossing my fingers that the new radio included in 1.84 will solve this.

You are all just going to love this. According to the tech I was working with, we are going to have to wait for the OTA update notification before we can download. The wording on the website regarding manual download immediately is incorrect. You can only do that in the case where maybe you accidentally dismissed the OTA notification. He tells me that most notifications are received within 72 hours

Thanks, info of people that don't have reboots is also useful as it gives us a control.
im using my htc 8x for almost 3 weeks´now. there was no reboot and no Crash in the meantime.
The lumias have the reboot Problem too, so this survey is pretty useless. I' m pretty sure it has nothing to to with 8X firmware. Vor most people it helps to switch to 3G, 2G or add a manual APN.

In my htc8x there was not any reboot, but i have some battery "problems". Sometimes the % go down quickly, almost 15% per hour, but the phone is cold, is not hot as we expected because of high use of the processor, later i connect the phone to the charger and charges around 40% in five minutes, that is not possible so i have one theory about that: the software that controls the % need a fix, it tells you that you are loosing battery but that is not real

I have to take back my words. I've had two reboots this week:
- While listning to music
- Unlocking lockscreen
I *do* remember having run some 7.5 app before the reboot. But I read MS is dispatching a ota hotfix in December, so here's hoping :victory:
Had the phone since yesterday, didn't get a reboot yet.

Firmware - 1532.20.10021.707

AT&T usually posts a changelog within a few days of pushing a new release.
Meanwhile, the update itself displays this helpful information: "The software update supports enhanced performance and other device improvements".
It's G955USQU1AQDE, and the security level is still April 1, 2017 (not May).
Think it adds the red tint fix. So there are more display options.
I'm on verizon and haven't gotten a update since release day when I picked it up.
So one issue they seem to have fixed was that annoying DQA app popup that I disabled and re enabled before the update.
