Moto G shuts down very fast - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just bought my Moto G today, When i press the Power off button, it vibrates and screen goes to black very fast. In my previous phone, it took sometime to turn off. Is it an issue or working fine.
Thanks.

Absolutely the Droid 3 was like one of fastest shut downs I ever had. So I can imagine the g can do it better

Upside Down Charger Socket?

Thought the charger socket was damaged until I noticed it's 'upside down' compared to every other device I've ever had.
It's the same with s4, n4 and all other Androids I've used.

It's the same orientation as my moto defy, the HTC One is the "other way up" though.

The Moto G's socket is the right way up, your previous devices were wrong.

No, checking a list of all the devices I've had over the last 10 years it's definitely the other way round and it seems to be a modern trend.
Please provide a photo of your phone's USB.

Call disconnect issue on MotoG

I recently got this phone and I'm just loving using it, this being my 4th droid! Just have one issue though... I have noticed that while I'm on call, it gets disconnected quite often. Have any of you faced this issue?

If you are with KK 4.4.2 it can be everybody's problem.

[REQUEST] A stock-like ROM that directly ports features from the Moto X to the Moto G

I think many users would love to have a stock based rom that has most of the moto x great features, such as active notifications, flick wrist camera gesture, always on voice commands. Any dev here looking for a challenge?
It's not possible without GREAT battery drain.

Yeah, maybe the always on voice control would too much. But the rest would be great.

Not just the voice commands, Active Display is meant for AMOLED screens as they are able to keep black pixels turned off, saving a of battery. The screen on the Moto G would require to completely lit up even on a black background. That pretty much defeats the concept of AD, imo.

Droid mini has active display and it has an lcd screen just like the moto g, doesn't noticeably drain battery.

I wasn't aware of this. You're absolutely right, the Droid Mini does have Active Display.
After googling a bit, though, it seems that the Droid Mini's AD works a little different than the X's; it makes use of other sensors to turn the screen on based on the user's proximity.
We seem to be looking in the wrong direction with this Active Display thingy

Moto Freaks Out?

Anyone have a problem when randomly you go to the home or app screen and everything gets blocky and random? On the Boost Mobile version if that helps, will have a screenshot uploaded. Will happen 1-2x a day, and goes away with a restart or randomly.
Everything is stock, not even rooted. She's a virgin.
Why is she/he still virgin dude.

Yesterday, after I took 2-3 photos, I closed the camera app, and it was something similar to your screenshot. I turn off the phone then on, and everything is fine now. I must do a factory reset but I'm too lazy to search a good backup app...
It happened to me and I just kill the launcher, then everything goes back tp normal.
Mine is fully stock.

Also here with ROM stock, after using a TV app.
Juste switched off the phone and it corrected the problem.

To quickly fix this just open play store and exit it. No restart needed.
Moto G
I have experienced the same on my mine. Here I'd the screen grab displaying the blocks from the YouTube icon.

To avoid the issues I'm currently experiencing. Moto has really low levels of bloatware, so I didn't see a need to install anything extra. I will try another launcher and see if this persists.
