[Q] Note 10.1 2014 edition SM-P601 broken screen - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ,
I have dropped my recently bought Note 10.1 2014 edition and the screen was shattered. Touch is ok and I can see everything behind the shattered glass but it looks very ugly and nearly unusable . I went to the local Samsung repair service but they demanded ridiculous repair fees (~ 400 USD) so I want to give it a try myself. I have seen some posts here about screen replacement for older Note 10.1 versions but found none for the 2014 version.
What should I do ?? where can I get a new screen ??
Edit : I have images of the screen but I can't post them .

You might have better luck posting this in the 2014 edition forums, but I'll try to help if I can.
It looks like there is no ifixit guide as of yet, but somebody else with a similar problem attempted repairs on their 2014 edition tablet and been successful. check it out over here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617614
That said, don't attempt these repairs unless you're very confident in your abilities and/or willing to throw quite a bit of money at it. Tablets are not designed to be easily repairable. I do computer repair and I won't touch tablet hardware problems.
Best of luck to you, OP. :good:

[Q] Where would I find a touch screen replacement part?

I somehow cracked the gorilla glass on my transformer this morning. I know how to replace the screen but I can't for the life of me find any parts for it. I have been looking for the past hour. Is there anyone who knows where I would get replacement parts, specifically the touch digitizer???
I really don't want to buy a new transformer.
My friend your SOL, I looked for over a month for a replacement for my Asus eee T101mt and nothing. I finnily just bought another one and sent back the broken one..
Well that was kind of what I expected to hear. What kind of company makes a product but doesn't make parts to fix it, I'm pissed. Thats like Ford putting out a car and when you blow the engine they don't sell the parts to fix it.
If they make it than it will show up here :
http://www.asusparts.eu/index.php?cPath=66920_222155
there are not so many parts yet
I broke my glass but had the SquareTrade warranty - sent it off to be fixed and a week later they told me they couldn't get the glass (they only will wait 5 days) so they just reimbursed me my purchase price. I don't think it's available anywhere yet but you could call Professional Satellite Repair at 814-342-5635 and check to see if they know when it might be available. That's where SquareTrade had me send it. - sheureka

they list a 4 wire and 5 wire 10.1" in their catalog..
take a look and let us know..
I don't know what will work

Will Asus provide shipping outside EU to Asia??

They should, I wouldn't see why not
wrong Post
The original thread was for a touch screen for an Asus t101mt.
The link you have above is not for the T101MT is for Asus Case parts and screen bezel. ASSus does not sell the touch screen at all. Thus the bug hunt.
I have been fishing for some time for a touch screen for the t101mt and found a mfg in china. He wants to sell a 1000 touch screens at a time Though
Here is a buisiness opp for someone. I would gladly buy a replacement TS. I dont know how many others there are out there needing the same.
The quote below is from the sales rep..
-------------------
If you need a quotation. You need to provide the following stuff and information.
1. Send us minimum one unit sample of the touch screen kit. No matter ASUS, Sony, Samsung, we don't know what they are.
2. Type of IC driver (Example: FocalTech, Goodix, Solomon, etc.)
3. Type of solution (Allwinner Technology, InfoTM Microelectronics, Rockchip, Samsung, VIA, etc.)
--------------------
Does anyone have the technical specs for the touch screen ??
Did anyone manage to order and replace digitizer on T101MT?
I asked official Asus repair service and they offer LCD + digitizer for $180.

I reckon it'll be expensive to replace too, the note 1 screen and digitizer cost $220 before being replaced.... And that was only about 1/2 the size of the 10.1....

But only digitizer is cracked, not the LCD which is expensive. I found that they're around 60$.
But the digitizer for tab 10.1 is much cheaper, that's why i want to replace with it.

no, i haven't disassambled it yet.
The trouble is, with most screens, that the digitiser is glued to the screen and is a major mongrel to get off without damaging the LCD... The note 10.1 has a wacom digitiser in it so I'd assume that would put the price up...
I remember there was someone in the note forum that said he had replaced the digitiser but it was not for the lay person to do. Most people who tried tended to break the LCD and then had to fork over the $220 anyway. Plus the postage, most coming from China, could be 2 - 3 weeks long....

Fair enough, I haven't pulled apart my note (with no intention of doing so any time soon) so haven't looked to see. Also lack of a technical manual doesn't help....
digitizer replacement
I will be swapping the glass on my n8013 shortly and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success with the less expensive lenses available on eBay. It seems that gtab 1&2 digi's are the same part (yes they are serviceable without melting the glue and prying the glass off) and several of the listings I've seen claim n8000-series compatibility as well. Other listings advertise that they are only for the 8000 series; this may just be marketing, as they appear to be the same part and the same price (almost all are $40-50 except the some that list tab 1 compatibility, as low as $25 for these).
My question is: i know the note uses a "dual digitizer" for more accurate tracking, etc. Am I going to lose accuracy with another digi? Does anyone know how the guts of this thing are designed, will the lens not make a big difference? Or do these parts actually come with the dual digitizer built in? I know these eBay digi's will fit but I don't want my Note to suck at doing Note things, haha
ANY input on this matter is appreciated
Personly I wouldn't risk it. I know that the spen can't be used as a pointer on the tab and tab 2. How much of that is due to the glass itself, I don't know but if you go the cheap way, you may find your s pen no longer works.
To me, it isn't worth the risk, but if you do it, let us know how you got on.

Hi,
It happened to me once, about 2 months ago...
Euro GT-N8000, ITALY
I bought the replacement digitizer for the GT-N8000 from a store in California for around 70$.
I managed to cleanly open the tablet (I followed a video from yuotube) only to find that the replacement digitizer was a couple of mm too big.
Obviously it didn't fit...
At the end I had to send that tablet to a local Samsung service, and I had to pay 250 € to get it fixed. They replaced the digitizer, the lcd panel and the metal body.

Wow that is almost the price of a new one now
success!
Ordered the Note 8000 8010 8013 replacement digi from ebay seller Gadgetfix in California. Unfortunately I didnt order one with the matching grey border around the screen, my new one is black instead but I dont mind. I opened the Note and carefully proceeded to dismantle it, taking extra care with the shards of glass that were stuck in the screen bezel with adhesive. After reassembly and turning it back on with my fingers crossed, it works perfectly! S pen, airview, hover, all 100% functional, and no issues with sizing, etc. I checked the part numbers on the original and replacement and they seemed to match up, although they were off by a digit or two, presumably because of the difference in color. Note: I made sure to buy the model that ONLY listed compatibility with the Note line, and didn't have model numbers listed for any of the Tab series (those were about $25 and mine was $45).
Anyway, I now have a clean-looking, fully functional , killer tablet and it only cost me an extra $45 and some sweat to fix my glass . Pics to follow.

[Q] Moto G :- New / refurbished

Hi,
I got a moto g phone today although this is working fine but i think that it is a used phone because i can see some minute scraches on the screen
also the make of the phone is around may 2014 and it belongs to problematic imei 3533* series .
Can you pls help me know if we can by any way find that the phone that flipkart has sold is not a new phone but a refurbished phone which due to some error was returned and again after the issue was resolved sold back.
Any help is appreciated .. thanks in advance.
i want to find a definite way so that i can tell that this is a refurbished phone at the end i can take some action against flipkart.
Collect all the evidence you can find, take some pictures of the scratches, and shoot them an e-mail.
If they still don't respond properly, you could bombard their Helpline numbers.

Take it back if your not happy they have no option but to replace with a sealed new one there and then, its either factory damaged or a referb

Samsung Galaxt Tab 2 10.1 Screen Replacement Help

Hey guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 that I got from somebody to replace the cracked screen. This is not my first screen repair but it is my first time working with these Samsung tablets. I went out and bought a new screen for it which showed up in the mail damaged, so I contacted the seller and he sent a new one which was in good condition when it arrived. I went ahead and put it on the tablet with no problems. I turned the tablet on and it didn't work. I googled the problem and then I found out that there are different revisions of this screen. The screen that i had installed onto the tablet was a rev 0.2 and the one that arrived damaged was a rev 0.3. None of the screens work including the original but I think that is due to it being broken beyond use while I was removing it.
The original screen doesn't say what revision it is. The flex cable has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238 on the cable. Would this be a rev 0.0 cable? I am assuming that it is because there is no stated revision number on it. The problem I am having is that I cannot find any digitizers that are being sold on ebay that specifically say rev 0.0 on them. Does anybody know a reputable source that sells rev 0.0 digitizers? Preferably black.
I really need to get this tablet fixed because the owner has waited a long time and I'm still no closer to fixing it.
Any replies or help will be extremely appreciated!

Hate to bump my own thread, but I really need help with this.
Check out YouTube.
Pp.
I have done extensive searching but I need a source to buy a rev 0.0 from.
Thanks
I found this on ebay - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-Gala...ablet_eReader_Accessories&hash=item5657a7329f
I just need to make sure that it will work for my tablet before I buy it because it is quite expensive.
Any solution??
Did you find the right one?
Resolution of problem should always be posted, that's how forums are helpful.
Pp.
Indeed.
I will post the solution when I find it but I am not getting any help in finding one.

The ad says that it is universal and that it will work for all versions. Is this even possible? I want to make sure that it will work because it is quite expensive.

That is the one I used for my Galaxy Tab 2 from that same seller and it worked fine. Mine was p5113 Rev2
Did it have the pre-applied adhesive on the back side?
Replacing the LCD or the Digitiser
I have a p5113 and replacing the digitiser was fairly easy. You have to buy the parts with the tools included. I used the prying tools and a hair dryer(you may use a heat gun )to removing the digitiser. On the LCD you may have to unscrew. Be mindful to work in an area that is dust free and you are bound to have broken glass if the digitiser is being replaced. Take a look at eBay or Amazon for the replacement kits. They are pretty cheap to replace. Also take a look at YouTube videos for the replacement of the screen and digitiser.
