[Q] Samsung Galaxt Tab 2 10.1 Screen Replacement Help - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 that I got from somebody to replace the cracked screen. This is not my first screen repair but it is my first time working with these Samsung tablets. I went out and bought a new screen for it which showed up in the mail damaged, so I contacted the seller and he sent a new one which was in good condition when it arrived. I went ahead and put it on the tablet with no problems. I turned the tablet on and it didn't work. I googled the problem and then I found out that there are different revisions of this screen. The screen that i had installed onto the tablet was a rev 0.2 and the one that arrived damaged was a rev 0.3. None of the screens work including the original but I think that is due to it being broken beyond use while I was removing it.
The original screen doesn't say what revision it is. The flex cable has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238 on the cable. Would this be a rev 0.0 cable? I am assuming that it is because there is no stated revision number on it.
I have found this item on ebay - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-Gala...ablet_eReader_Accessories&hash=item5657a7329f
The ad says that it is universal and that it will work for all versions. Is this even possible? I want to make sure that it will work because it is quite expensive.
I really need to get this tablet fixed because the owner has waited a long time and I'm still no closer to fixing it.
Any replies or help will be extremely appreciated!

That is the one I used for my Galaxy Tab 2 from that same seller and it worked fine. Mine was p5113 Rev2

Did it have the pre-applied adhesive on the back side?

Replacing the LCD or the Digitiser
I have a p5113 and replacing the digitiser was fairly easy. You have to buy the parts with the tools included. I used the prying tools and a hair dryer(you may use a heat gun )to removing the digitiser. On the LCD you may have to unscrew. Be mindful to work in an area that is dust free and you are bound to have broken glass if the digitiser is being replaced. Take a look at eBay or Amazon for the replacement kits. They are pretty cheap to replace. Also take a look at YouTube videos for the replacement of the screen and digitiser.

Where to get reaplacement parts for touch pro (digitzer & keyboard)

Hey guys.. I droped my touch pro about a week ago onto concrete and need a few replacement parts.. I haven't dropped a phone for years when I have had much cheaper phones and now I get a decent one this happens!
The phone actually still works 100% but is in a horrible state.. the digitzer has smashed but somehow still works, theres a key missing from the keyboard and the case is a bit munted, I will attach photos if I can.
I called 3 places in australia;
#1 HTC direct who said send it to us for a quote and we may be able to fix it ($38.50 for the quote and $11 to courier it back)
#2 A htc approved repair centre who said $170 for the screen and $110 for the keyboard.. I got into an argument with their receptionist saying the lcd is fine I just need the digitzer but she was adament they are one and the same.
#3 The vendor where I got the phone, who said their repair centre could fix it but I would have to send it to there for a quote ($35 for quote and $15 postage back)
So from what I can see I'm looking at around $300 from one place or pay $50 to another place for just the quote and they may not come back any cheaper..
I am confident enough to pull the phone apart and repair it myself.. don't have much to lose.. (I actually replaced the phone with a touch HD the next day.. sort of like drown your sorrows by replacing it with something better) As the touch pro wouldn't turn on and I figured it was completely dead..
On closer inspection a few days later I found the battery terminals had bent and wern't contacting, I bent them back and it turns on and works now)
I just want to replace the broken parts because it's a horrible mess!
I found a store on ebay selling the digitzer for $60 which is around what I would expect to pay, waiting to hear back from them if they can source a keyboard and the internal case parts, I thought someone on here might know where I can source these parts outside of Australia?
pics are below.. hope they work (warning: not for those with a weak stomach! )
Here you go

It would be easier to just buy the lcd with digitizer already installed
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03799&dept_id=039&cat_id=1149
US$88.00
Here's the complete housing with keyboard.
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03811&dept_id=039&cat_id=1149
US$85.00
Thanks, you're a lifesaver! the only trouble is that keyboard is different to mine I think the keys would probably all line up and work but you would have to know which one was which (the symbols and punctuation ones would be hard) if I can't get the right one I'll probably order from there but if anyone knows where I can get the correct keyboard that'd be even better
Happy to help
Let me see if I can find you the touch pro keypad.

If you were here I would hug you, I have no idea how you found that so fast, maybe I was looking in the wrong places (scouring ebay and google australia) but I've been looking for hours! can now order all the parts I need to turn it into a brand new phone
Out of interest, when you say it's easier to get the screen with the digitzer already installed, is there a reason for that? I see digitizers advertised everywhere seperately, and thought they were an entirely seperate part to the LCD, or are they connected via a bunch of fragile edge connectors? I'm happy to pay the extra $44 to get the lcd / digitzer combo if theres a risk of screwing up seperating them but if it's not a hugely risks job then I wouldn't mind saving the cash..
Thanks so much d3th metal
Hey mate, i got a big f'ing scratch down my brand new fuze. Would love to know how this goes, if you get the digitizer or full screen. As im going to try and polish it out, but i dont hold much hope. So i think this is going to be the only way.
Don't know if this is a case of too little too late information, but i tried to replace the digitizer only on my touch pro because i had some major scratches on the screen. I've taken a part a number of phones in the past and I work with electronics for a living, and for the life of me I have no idea how anyone could separate the LCD from the touchscreen. I ended up cracking the LCD glass and breaking one of the itty-bitty flat cable connectors. My recommendation to anyone contemplating this is to just pay the additional cash to get the LCD and digitizer together. I tried to save $40 and now my phone is in a zillion parts in a plastic bin waiting for the new screen to get here

Yeh the way to do it is to use a razor blade. It will definitely take some time though and a lot of patients.
This would be awesome for a sticky. It would provide anyone who needs help with getting parts for their touchpro/raphael/fuze if they decide they need it.

I reckon it'll be expensive to replace too, the note 1 screen and digitizer cost $220 before being replaced.... And that was only about 1/2 the size of the 10.1....

But only digitizer is cracked, not the LCD which is expensive. I found that they're around 60$.
But the digitizer for tab 10.1 is much cheaper, that's why i want to replace with it.

no, i haven't disassambled it yet.
The trouble is, with most screens, that the digitiser is glued to the screen and is a major mongrel to get off without damaging the LCD... The note 10.1 has a wacom digitiser in it so I'd assume that would put the price up...
I remember there was someone in the note forum that said he had replaced the digitiser but it was not for the lay person to do. Most people who tried tended to break the LCD and then had to fork over the $220 anyway. Plus the postage, most coming from China, could be 2 - 3 weeks long....

Fair enough, I haven't pulled apart my note (with no intention of doing so any time soon) so haven't looked to see. Also lack of a technical manual doesn't help....
digitizer replacement
I will be swapping the glass on my n8013 shortly and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success with the less expensive lenses available on eBay. It seems that gtab 1&2 digi's are the same part (yes they are serviceable without melting the glue and prying the glass off) and several of the listings I've seen claim n8000-series compatibility as well. Other listings advertise that they are only for the 8000 series; this may just be marketing, as they appear to be the same part and the same price (almost all are $40-50 except the some that list tab 1 compatibility, as low as $25 for these).
My question is: i know the note uses a "dual digitizer" for more accurate tracking, etc. Am I going to lose accuracy with another digi? Does anyone know how the guts of this thing are designed, will the lens not make a big difference? Or do these parts actually come with the dual digitizer built in? I know these eBay digi's will fit but I don't want my Note to suck at doing Note things, haha
ANY input on this matter is appreciated
Personly I wouldn't risk it. I know that the spen can't be used as a pointer on the tab and tab 2. How much of that is due to the glass itself, I don't know but if you go the cheap way, you may find your s pen no longer works.
To me, it isn't worth the risk, but if you do it, let us know how you got on.

Hi,
It happened to me once, about 2 months ago...
Euro GT-N8000, ITALY
I bought the replacement digitizer for the GT-N8000 from a store in California for around 70$.
I managed to cleanly open the tablet (I followed a video from yuotube) only to find that the replacement digitizer was a couple of mm too big.
Obviously it didn't fit...
At the end I had to send that tablet to a local Samsung service, and I had to pay 250 € to get it fixed. They replaced the digitizer, the lcd panel and the metal body.

Wow that is almost the price of a new one now
success!
Ordered the Note 8000 8010 8013 replacement digi from ebay seller Gadgetfix in California. Unfortunately I didnt order one with the matching grey border around the screen, my new one is black instead but I dont mind. I opened the Note and carefully proceeded to dismantle it, taking extra care with the shards of glass that were stuck in the screen bezel with adhesive. After reassembly and turning it back on with my fingers crossed, it works perfectly! S pen, airview, hover, all 100% functional, and no issues with sizing, etc. I checked the part numbers on the original and replacement and they seemed to match up, although they were off by a digit or two, presumably because of the difference in color. Note: I made sure to buy the model that ONLY listed compatibility with the Note line, and didn't have model numbers listed for any of the Tab series (those were about $25 and mine was $45).
Anyway, I now have a clean-looking, fully functional , killer tablet and it only cost me an extra $45 and some sweat to fix my glass . Pics to follow.

[Q] Tabeo 2 BROKEN!

So I have been doing phone and tablet repairs for a while and my children both have a tabeo 2. Now my son has broken the digitizer on his tabeo and I figured ill just order a new one and get this fixed in a jiff, WRONG! Seems to be near impossible to find a digitizer for this as well as a non working unit with a digitzer intact. Does anyone know where I may be able to find a digitizer for this device? Its actually an Archos tablet model# AC80CP2. However google does not pull up anything for it and I've checked with many electronics suppliers to find the part and no luck. The digitizer is manufactured by Raece and is model# F0425 KDX. 8" capacitive touch digitizer. Anyone know where I might be able to find something like this?

Samsung Galaxt Tab 2 10.1 Screen Replacement Help

Hey guys,

I went out and bought a new screen for it which showed up in the mail damaged, so I contacted the seller and he sent a new one which was in good condition when it arrived. The original screen doesn't say what revision it is. The flex cable has MCF-101-0403-V3 ISU 1238 on the cable. Would this be a rev 0.0 cable? I am assuming that it is because there is no stated revision number on it. The problem I am having is that I cannot find any digitizers that are being sold on ebay that specifically say rev 0.0 on them. Does anybody know a reputable source that sells rev 0.0 digitizers? Preferably black.
I really need to get this tablet fixed because the owner has waited a long time and I'm still no closer to fixing it.
Any replies or help will be extremely appreciated!

I have done extensive searching but I need a source to buy a rev 0.0 from.
Thanks
I found this on ebay - http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Samsung-Gala...ablet_eReader_Accessories&hash=item5657a7329f
I just need to make sure that it will work for my tablet before I buy it because it is quite expensive.
Any solution??
Did you find the right one?
Resolution of problem should always be posted, that's how forums are helpful.

Indeed.
I will post the solution when I find it but I am not getting any help in finding one.

Warning - Fake screens on eBay

Hello fellow Nexus 4 users.
http://imgur.com/a/mDmv2
I replaced my N4 screen after an unfortunate drop with a replacement assembly available on eBay for approx £35 including frame, digitizer and LCD.
The colours of the screen were appalling. See images in the link. There are counterfeit screens circulating.
May our N4s live on forever more!

Sorry to hear that. Today you can get anything fake from ebay.
Though, it wouldn't be bad if you put link to that buyer or item
The seller has dealt with the issue well so far, I'm not sure they knew they were selling a fake screen. I will post further details if I am not compensated/refunded.
Are you certain it's a counterfeit and not a re-sold piece that had actually failed QA/QC?
I don't think it's possible for an authentic screen to be of such poor quality. You could be right - I dont know much about LCD manufacture
Wondering if it is even worth replacing these parts on a phone that's over 2 years old. Not sure about pricing in UK but here in the US you can pick up a mint or refurbished one for close to the price you paid. If I busted my N4 I think I would prob have to move on and get a newer phone although I would miss perhaps the most perfect phone ever made.
I'm actually debating what to do with a N5 I have with a cracked screen sell it as is or try and find a replacement. The problem I'm Runing into is finding a stock LCD that is not cracked and makes sense price wise. If only I had a screen seperator the stupid glass can be had for $5.

This is the sad truth I've just discovered. I dropped my phone a few months back and now have an unresponsive stripe across my screen...I went looking for a screen replacement to find out I'd only save about $30 as opposed to buying a used mint condition N4. It's not worth the aggravation of doing all that work just to save a couple bucks, IMHO.
Yes I agree. I'm now debating getting a LCD separation machine and try to salvage the digitizer and LCD. Anyone ever attempt such a job?
kgiri247 I know this isn't the place to talk about selling phones but if you do want to sell it I'll more than happily take it off your hands, inbox me if you want to talk numbers! What I do know about separating the LCD and Digitizer is that it's very risky, they're two very delicate pieces of hardware and any mistakes could lead to having an expensive paperweight until you could find a replacement screen for it!
Yeah, it's getting to be a tough decision for a home who has something go wrong on these. I love this phone though as well as the development community for it. I might keep this phone just because the development community is excellent.
However if I had to get a new phone, I saw Amazon is selling the Kindle Fire phone unlocked for $199

as far i can see on your images, your screen is original and coming from LG, how many months do you have it? do you have any other synthom than yellowish colours??
Have you double a check for how many fingers you can press? The N4 is 10 right, but some of the really cheap screens only support 5. You'll know very quickly whether it's fake or not.
bought a replacement screen for the n4 and the screen is horrible. has 2 dead pixels and the viewing angles are the worst ive ever seen on a cellphone.

If it's too good to be true, it usually is I'm afraid. The most expensive parts of a mobile phone are usually the screen and the battery, seeing as both are advanced pieces of technology. Processors, RAM, motherboards etc are cheap in reality, that's why you can buy a pretty powerful Android TV stick for cheap. No battery, no screen.
Nexus 4's are cheap nowadays, smash a screen, it probably isn't worth buying another screen unless you can be guaranteed of OEM'ness. It isn't all that hard to replace a digitizer though, so if your LCD panel is good, it might be worth giving it a try.
Where would you be able to buy a genuine part then?
Is this something you should bite the bullet and send to LG for repair to atleast be guaranteed a genuine part?
Edit
Sorry for bumping an old thread.
I just had mine replaced by LG for a defective ribbon cable which left the touch screen complete unresponsive. I went this route due to all the complaints about bad screens. $160 later, my N4 looks and works great! Pretty expensive though.
I had ordered a replacement from a seller within the US on eBay. I can't seem to find the sale anymore, but it was the real deal.
I had purchased a Nexus 4 and it came with a crappy replacement display, so I ordered a new one and did the swap myself.
It looks like a whole new phone.
Thanks for the info guys!
I'm from the UK like op and I was considering getting the replacement screen myself from ebay but I don't know if the seller replaced the part he gave to op and if it was genuine because they do have some good fakes on ebay.
I might just bite the bullet and do it myself I don't know the price for repair here Reeves360 but I'm sure it'll be similar to what you paid.
These phone manufacturers still charging extortionate prices on a nearly 3 year old phone.
I've long wondered about the legitimacy of the replacement screen I got off eBay. I bought from a seller that had sold a ton of them and had excellent feedback. But the screen always seemed like it was dim (had to crank it all the way up to be as bright as my other devices at 2/3-3/4 max brightness, plus the color is very cool/bluish. But it was always responsive and never had any ghost touches.
However, a couple days ago, it has started to freak out. Occasionally, after touching it, the bottom half or so flashes black. Somtimes it's one flash, sometimes it's a few flashes. It still responds perfectly while doing this, but it's obviously not normal. I disassembled it, gave the connectors a whack of Deoxit and ProGold, and reassembled it, but the glitching still remains, so it's not the connector. I need to try flashing something different (or maybe just dirty flashing LS again) to see if it's ROM or kernel related. I made some changes to Hellscore settings and I finally figured out why my battery life was so atrocious the last few months (it somehow got set minimum 2 cores online), so it's possible I screwed something else up.
If the problem is that it's a fake screen, I doubt the seller was aware.
It was the kernel (settings). Not sure what caused it, but I reflashed the kernel, reinstalled HK manager, and the screen hasn't glitched out since.
