I need to return my phone to stock so that I can exchange it. I flashed a custom splash screen so I really just need to get my stock splash screen back and I can hide the rest. Anyone? Thanks

Got it taken care of my man! Kind of sucks I have to exchange but whatever... Paid for Java card S-Off & Beaups S-Off so the Java part went to waste but life will go on. How's ur M8 holdin up? I'm still lovin mine except for the power button that feels like it's gonna fall off!

Good to hear man.
Oddly enough, I was having a power button issue as well. Acted like it was being pressed down at random times. But I fixed it myself.
Wonder if the power button thing is widespread, or just an isolated flaw.

I have searched and it appears to be. Not a big deal but I wanted to get it taken care of while I am within my 14 day period so that I don't get stuck w a crap refurb! See you around the forums. :good:
Got it..

This is the second unit that has this problem, first one I exchanged because of the same reason.
The only difference is that on the second one the volume button started to move after a day or so, the first one was wobbling out of the box.
This is really annoying, if you shake the phone a bit you can hear it clicking.
Anyone with the same problem?
I am quite irritated by this..

I do not know why my topic was moved here, it is not a Q&A its about a problem...

Mine does it as well, both units I've had. I just ignore it.
Thx for reply.
Hmm this is really not good. At least for me, I keep hearing it all the time.
How on earth they made the top button just perfect and this one like crazy bell.
I have 2 more HTC DS and on those all buttons are ok, not moving or anything else.
Can we get more input here PLS?
I really want to know if this is a general thing or we are just "the lucky ones".
THX.
All of them do it. If somebody says theirs doesn't do it, then they got lucky.
My volume button is fine but my power button is a wobbler.

Just noticed this with my new Sensation.
Going to try this guys trick in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122888&highlight=volume+buttons
I don't think i will return my phone over this. Everything else seems fine and its going to start rattling eventually even with a good one out of the box, just looking at the design of it.
I did return my first one for the power button; but if you open it up you can see why. It's the mounts/glue. I figure if it happens this time it'll just be a matter of using some touchup strong glue to put it back.
Looking at the inside you can tell most of the rocker type buttons will have this issue eventually although the one "good" thing is that they will probably sell replacement body's which would no doubt be cheaper than the entire unit.

I have Sensation nearly for a month..and have no problems with volume button..
Just ignore it..Good luck..
well I never thought that the button wobbled but last night it completely came off.
I checked the inside of the case and the button part but I can't find a break? Was it just glued in place? This thing is going back for an exchange now for sure.
No wiggly buttons here either. I guess I just got a really good one.
So a few days ago I checked my phone at work, had been off the charger for 4 hours not used at all and it was dead. Battery draw was ~300ma the whole time. The next day I noticed my camera wasn't working. Ill get an error message(activity camera not responding). Sometimes ill attempt to open the app and nothing will happen. This was all on gingerbeast. So I wiped all data and reflashed GB. Camera still doesn't work and battery draw is insane. I've since tryed AR, virtuous and cm7. For the record I've wiped battery stats, tryed without SD and sim card. I've been unable to find the cause of the high draw, although I think its related to the camera. Tomorrow I'm going to try and unroot and return to fully stock. Sorry for the long post any help is appreciated.

If your camera isn't working on any freshly installed ROMs, you probably have a hardware problem. As a last resort, try going back to the stock ROM. If your camera is still bad, then you'll need to do a warranty exchange with AT&T. The camera issues may very well be causing your high battery drain.
So HTC told me to send it to them within 30 days. And what do you know the next day my camera works fine! Should I still send It in or wait it out? Im also getting slight screen lifting in the corner so I might as well? I don't have a spare phone to use but I can buy some cheapo for a temp

Yes. That screen lifting will get worse before it gets better, so take care of it while you still can.

From what I recall, the inspire is about 20 times harder to replace the screen/digitizer, because the thing it honestly slapped together.
@ OP Sad part is if you do wish to repair it your probably going to have to go through HTC as I had some lengthy conversations with ATT and had to threaten to cancel and report them to the BBB on face book before anyone actually wanted to help me. MY phone was to the point where the bottom right of the screen had lifted and I could press on the bottom center and here clicking noises.
Edit: Try downloading watch dog lite to see if any apps are causing the battery draw before you unroot, a little troubleshooting can go a long way .
Unfortunately, I've encountered a hardware defect on my phone...
...the dreaded power button is getting stuck and becoming virtually unusable. The VZW Tech Support is sending me a CLNR device which should be here on Friday. (Apparently, they got rid of free overnight shipping.)
I'm unrooting tonight so I can play around with the new OTA over the next couple of days.
Is there anything I need to do to the phone other than un-root it so that VZW doesn't know it was rooted, thereby avoiding any future headaches and $299 charges.
Thanks!
Drew
Just to remember to remove your sd card before sending it back. If left in by accident they can tell some of what you have been doing with your phone.

Just make sure to follow the unroot process in the dev forums so you put your phone back to "stock". You want to make sure its back to "S-ON" but that's about it.

Hope your new phone is better in regards to the power button issue. Mine seems to be OK... Except I keep finding its randomly shut itself off. If its not one thing its something else I guess lol

When your next phone arrives, consider using quickboot to restart/turn off the phone. Might help prevent you from going thru the same ordeal again.

Actually just got the new phone today and rooted it this evening. Everything works perfectly fine and the power button actually presses down now. lol
The only annoyance is that the speaker seems to crackle if above more than 1/2 volume. Thankfully, I can hear just fine if below that. But if it becomes too bad, I'll have to do another swap.

Curious as to why you would bother unrooting software when hardware is the issue? Here's why I ask.
I buy all of my companies pcs and cell phones. If I wipe MSCRAP7 off the machine and it has a MB failure and I call the mfg and they send a new one i don't restore back to 7 why would you on the phone?

Because if I don't, theres a strong risk I'll have to pay full retail for this replacement even though rooting didn't cause the hardware failure.
I'm guessing you're not rooted...

For our anniversary, I bought my wife a new red-backed Inspire; got it home last night and began rooting it as I have mine and my replacement with no issues; this one though, would not go - I got odd errors, and then the phone finally hung on a black screen and would go no further; now only option is to remove battery, HTC splash comes up, and within about 10 seconds it just fades to black in a very unsettling "I know I'm screwed" kinda way. I can get to recovery but any option chosen restarts the phone and it fades to black as mentioned above and it's not going far enough for Windows to see it. Do I really have no further options? Is Radio Shack (where I bought it) gonna work with me at all if I send my wife in there (I know, LOW! LOL) with a confused look on her face and see if that helps? Or will they immediately look at it and say "someone messed this up, sorry" -
Just curious as to how to proceed from here...

Not toast. You just have the DHD rootable kernel on there and it doesn't work with the Inspire graphics hardware. Hop in IRC and ATTN1 will walk you through it:

A little more info would be helpful. What did you do to get to this? Phone rooted or not? Tried pulling battery?
I would try taking out the battery and putting it back in. I'm pretty sure that wi do it if you haven'ttried that.

Pull the battery then reboot the phone. Do you see any of the splash screen? If not I'd bet your looking at a hardware issue.

Google android screencast see if you can view your screen like that. If so try wiping and reflashing a rom. Might just be a simple fix.
IF you turn it off, then turn it on with the power and volume button, it should start download mode. do you see anything on the screen if you do that?

How would i go about doing the google screen cast thing?
Anyone?
If you don't see any boot up screens at all and everything else is working, it could be the LCD or the LCD controller. Hard to say. Did it get dropped, knocked or something? The fact that is boots up and you can unlock without seeing and hear the sounds means its fully working otherwise, just no display so it's not bricked or anything. New screens are $100 on ebay but if it's not the screen or you're not comfortable doing it, might be better to send it to Sammy and get it fixed as they will at least fix whats wrong and not guess ordering a $100 screen.
Do your carrier offer any trade in's or deals or anything? Since the other guy said it was a $160 to fix it, you can buy a used SGS4G on ebay starting at that price, or just upgrade and get a new phone.
Far chance, but can you shine a flashlight on the screen when you know it should be "on" like after swipping to unlock and see if you can see any image at all?
