@hollowback
Force Close camera and gallery... Clear camera and gallery cache/data and reboot...
Now see whether you get the error again after sometime?
Btw, when LG had replaced your motherboard, were you rooted? Did they check whether you had a unlocked bootloader or anything like that??
-Flowed from an IceCold Hammerhead!

This is actually a very common issue. As of now the best fix is a reboot. It's triggered by certain apps. Do you use snap chat?

I used to have that issue. If I remember correctly it would happen when you would sleep the phone while in snapchat.

hello friends
first
"when i gave it to him he just opened it then chagned the motherbaord
i dout he saw the root thing.
he said i have a fungus on the board he showed it to me i wonder how that happened he said
it could be sweat and then he changed it :/
its kinda hard i still dont understand i had this cover since almost the start i wonder how water could go in cause i took care of it
second
well yeh i did install snapchat recently
before it use to crash without snapchat
well as soon as i restart it works perfect
what shall i do guys ? is this normal or ?

Camera stopped working

My camera stopped working randomly, when i try and load the camera it looks like its jsut taking awhile to load, then i get a message saying activity camera (in application camera) is not responding. I'm not sure whats wrong, any ideas?
Which rom are u using on your phone?
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
just got cyanogen mod 7
Is it a ROM Flash issue?
That is: have you tried re-flashing CM7?
When did you flash CM7 in relation to noticing your camera doesn't work?
Did it ever work since you flashed CM7 or did you just notice it?
Is it an application issue?
That is: have you tried a different camera from the market?
Have you tried installing the camera (included in CM7) again?
Is it a hardware issue?
That is: have you visually inspected the camera? Dropped the phone? Stepped on (or otherwise significantly compress) the phone?
SOME information other than "Hey yo, my camera no worky." would really help out.
Sorry for the lack of description, i think it might just be a hardware issue because i first noticed it stopped working randomly when i had Juicy rom on then i flashed a rom that didnt work and then finally got CM7 and it worked great but the camera issue is still affecting it. I have tried taking pictures on different camera apps and i still get that same error screen. I dont know what other info to provide, i think its just broke thanks for helping!
Happened to me once and kinda scared me a bit lol All I kept getting was a black screen no matter what camera app I used even factory reset didn't fix it. What worked for me was to go completely clean and flash the RUU gingerbread update from AT&T.

Does your camera freeze up?

i need to know if this a hardware issue or software. every 2 days or so my camera wont start . i close everything running and it just freezes up on me. i have nothing crazy installed jsut root, tibu, chase, android game, flashlight. thats it ! i will click the camera icon ill see the screen shake for a second and just go back to home screenl. also sometimes i click the multi task button and clear everything out when i press home it has to load all my widgets again.. this phone is werid...
i bought it online at radioshak for 50 bucks do you guys think i can get a new one in store or do they deal with online only
I had this happen to me twice in a week of use. I'm wondering if another app is not releasing the camera from it's use. I haven't been killing the camera app after use, so maybe it has an issue being open for long.
Other apps that use the camera I may have had open are Instagram, Facebook, Gallery.

same. its either gallery or instagram, hmmm
i had this issue since i bought the phone. never figured it out. a couple of days ago, the camera just stopped working altogether. it won't start most of the time. when it does start, the image is dark and very distorted. i tried to upgrade from 1.73 to 1.85 and didnt solve the issue. i did a factory reset and it didn't solve the issue. so earlier today, i ended up just exchanging it with a new phone.
Happening to me as we speak!
Made a quick, nasally sounding video.

- Instagram is still able to use the camera.
- If I close them all in multitasking, it doesn't fix it.
- Force stopping Instagram and/or the Camera app doesn't solve it, I have to reboot the phone.
EDIT:
Fast boot is off on my device.

damn so you think it is hardware related ? i bought the phone may 9th it arrived to my house , am i still under warrenty or what is radioshak 30 days hmm
Happens to mine too, about 4 times already. Have to restart the phone to get it to work again. Had the phone for about a month. If the update fixes this and other problems this phone will be perfect.

Try a factory reset. If this doesn't solve the issue, I'd take it back. I've never had any such issues on 1.73, 1.82 or 1.85. I'm inclined to think its either a software issue (like an installed app interfering, as one reply suggested) that a factory reset may clear up, or its a hardware issue.

well, i won't say that your problem was the same as mine but i think mine was definitely a hardware problem. i experienced the problem on 1.73 and 1.85, rooted and unrooted, locked and unlocked, and even after a factory reset. luckily the camera just complete crapped out before my 30-day was up so it was easy to justify the exchange at the at&t store.

Video exactly depicts what happens to me. I will try to open the camera app and it just flashes and kicks me out. I've tried all sorts of things to alleviate the problem but the only solution I've found is restarting the phone. Pretty annoying....
The display HOX at the AT&T store had the same issue. I'm assuming this is software related but who knows
this happened the first week I had the phone. When I updated it to 1.82 the issue went away so I'm assuming it was software

Well if it was a software issue, factory reset is worth a try. However if its something that needs to be fixed in a future update (a bug) then going back to factory shouldn't help. And thats why the OP had another thread about how to update.
Crizthakidd, have you tried other camera apps from google play? I know you said you were going to. How did that go, if you did? Obviously if there's a software issue, even if factory reset doesn't fix it, xda can. That is, root, unlock, install a newer custom rom.
I had this problem on 1.72, and other apps were still ok using the camera. I made a quick video of it happening.

***Ever since the 1.85 OTA it hasn't been happening so I would suggest HTC fixed it. ***
However I am rooted and doing mods so I am restarting more often to check my work.

Rotation dead

Received my n5 yesterday, I rooted stock and didn't flash anything. Was working OK everything but now screen rotation stop working on every app! I read in another post that installing an incompatible app that uses sensors may break it but as far as I know before it died I only receive updates for YouTube and superSU. Anyone else having similar issues? Maybe time for its firts re-flashing ?

I had a similar issue yesterday. I'm rooted and superSU'ed and no 3rd party kernels/roms etc. Everything was working like charm unless I installed an app (a random picked one from the market) to test the barometer.
Effects:
accelerometers stuck (= dead) after a certain amount of time (10 ~ 30 minutes?), No screen rotations at all... And then I discovered that EVERY sensor was kinda muted. Only solution to get the sensor working was a reboot. But then in another 10/30 minutes they would have stopped again, over and over.
Solution:
Since I didn't knew it was an "known" (??) issue of certain barometric app reading the sensors during sleepmode (or something like that, I didn't bother), I thought I had corrupted the firmware and reflashed the latest stock firmware and rooted again.
Now everything is perfect again but probably I only needed to uninstall that crappy barometer app.
Be sure you didn't install any app dealing with the barometer. But in any case, reflashing is very very easy you can do it quickly via command line in an adb shell.
Thanks for the response..mine stoped working completely.. I didn't installed any barometer or anything related.. So I can't identify what cause this, dirty flash worked for you? I don't want to loose my configs

no I'm sorry, I flashed hammerhead-krt16m-factory-bd9c39de.tgz (I really fear brick since there's not an usb jig to save the day) and lost everything. But surprisingly enough, the second time I rooted I didn't loose anything like the first time I did (the first time I used cf-autoroot, the second time I did something manually)
Hey, but I didn't try any dirty flashing, so maybe this can be a better solution for you!
I went back to stock + relock. Still screen rotation is NOT working.. Damn!! I don't know what to do..

Moto G - Unfortunately Camera has stopped

Running stock Moto G 4.4.2 ATM, and updated to 174.44.1 yesterday, unlocked and rooted using TWRP v2.6.3.0. Very occasionally, when I want to use the camera I get the message "Unfortunately Camera has stopped" and I get a blank screen. I can exit the camera app and occasionally it will work if I force stop the camera app and try it again. I have also tried other camera apps, but get the same results. I suspect that they all using the same Android api or something. The surefire way to get it working is to reboot the phone.
I have tried fixing permissions, wiping cache, dalvic, wiping camera app cache etc. Perhaps I have a physical camera problem? As I see zero reports of Moto G camera problems in this forum.
Any suggestions?

Hi there, I'm having the same problem! From what country is yours?
@GregoryDelaey Hi, Mine is a standard US model purchased from Amazon USA. In desperation I have just done a factory reset and re-installing everything again!

Hhhhmmm, bought mine in Belgium so it's a EU model. I did happen to install the stock camera app (from a nexus) a while ago, but deletet it a few days after that. Maybe it's because of that?
Well so far after doing the factory reset and re installing my apps the camera seems to be behaving. I too use a KK camera from the play store, only because it keeps things the same as on my other devices. Yesterday I found another thread reporting the same camera issues. We should join that thread. PS. We have a home in Holland although live 6 mnths in Mexico, so we are almost neighbors...

Just to let you know. Two days on and I have been working the camera app, quite a bit. It seems fine now. As mentioned I did a full factory reset and then installed everything back one by one. I didn't use Titanium or anything. So it was a bit of a pain, But the result seems to be a complete cure. :fingers-crossed:

The fact that you have a house in the Netherlands is quite cool!
And any idea why it behaves like that if you don't reset? Is it still working?
Yes four days now and the camera is stable. I try it regularly just to be sure. By factory reset, I mean factory fresh. Where the phone asks language, gmail account etc. Then I installed all my apps fresh from the play store. It took a while, but the result seems like it is worth it. Finally used TWRP to create a backup.

Ok, I will try this tomorrow and I'll report here wether it works or not.
GB version, same problem.
Rebotting saved my day.
Same problem here on the Indian version. Reboot makes it alright. anyone who knows why this is happening? Hope to get a fix soon.
Have 2 Moto G's and this problem occurs on both.
Camera fix
Ok so I've been testing the camera for 3 days now and it works just perfect. The only fix (for now) seems to be resetting the phone. You can find this under settings - Back-up and reset (don't know how this menu is called in English, as my phone is in Dutch).
Be aware, it WILL erase everything so make sure to back things up.
@GregoryDelaey Hi, I am pleased to hear that the effort resulted in a good outcome for you. I was convinced that my phone had a hardware camera problem. But its now 10 days and the camera so far is faultless. Yesterday I tried some other camera apps to see if I could improve the camera. One called Snap Camera did seem to give marginally better results. But in the end I decided to stay with the Kitkat version. It doesn't have HDR but I decided that I could achieve the same thing by photo editing on my PC.

Camera Update
Ok, so the last few days I got the error again. It appears when I start the camera app, then it crashes and after that I can start the app again and start taking pictures.
But today, an update for the camera was released on the play story, it says it has several bug fixes + support for android 4.4.2. I think this might be the update we were waiting for. I'll test it this weekend to see if it is.

I have camera issues as well, running CM11 on my European Moto G. I only noticed it when I actually tried to take a picture, the camera app would crash then. My wife has a stock Moto G and told me about a camera update yesterday, but she wasn't sure where it came from, only that she did not have to reboot. I was wondering whether I would have to flash a new radio to get this fix, but now that I know that it apparently came from the Play Store I'm not sure what to do atm .
Rebooting does help by the way.

Yes the new update comes from the play store and it's from Motorola themselves. They updated the camera app to be compatible with Android 4.4.2. so that means it won't crash anymore (at least for me it doesn't). Can't help you with your camera issue though, seeing that you're on a custom rom.

Problems after Lollipop update (Help needed)

Hi guys,
Ever since I updated to Lollipop especially after the recent update to 5.1.1, everything is screwed up.
The google camera doesn't work so I had to uninstall it to atleast get the phone's camera working. Flashlight turns off after a while.
I'm not receiving calls as those who call get the message that my phone is switched off even though my phone is in my hands SWITCHED ON.
What the hell should I do? Its pissing me off.
I just updated to LMY48B and the camera is laggy as hell -- pretty much unusable. I don;t know what to tell you except maybe try another camera app? I'm still looking for something myself. I use my camera constantly and this has made it worthless. Almost cause for rolling back to KitKat.
Those are uncommon issues. I suggest you to start from scratch by flashing the factory images.
Camera MX is a nice alternative app.
