[Q] att lg g2 unlock - General Questions and Answers

hello, I'm basically new to this forum and I'm an amateur, so here my question. Can the 32 gig, att d80020 with the 4.4.2 kitkat update be unlocked? I've read in some places that it comes factory unlocked and there's a lot of people who say they can unlock it but turns out they cant. can someone help with a cheap method cause att sucks for their data plans and I want to switch to tmobile.

Rooting and Unlocking Bootloader

Sorry if I missed this post somewhere. Was considering buying the Moto G from either Boost or Verizon prepaid. I see numerous ROM's for this phone, but was wondering if this phone is still able to be bootloader unlocked/rooted for either carrier (I ask STILL because I got burned on the LG L9 encrypted bootloader on newer models). I did see posts about paying some guy in china to unlock it, is there an alternative? Thanks all!

[Q] Questions regarding unlocked Moto G on Verizon

I currently have a contract plan with Verizon Wireless and for now plan to stick with it. I made the mistake of buying a Moto G on craigslist that is meant to only be for the prepaid verizon plan. I wanted to unlock this phone for the purpose of installing cyanogenmod 11 on it but see now sadly that Motorola won't unlock the prepaid verizon Moto G phones (xt1028). However I saw on other threads here that this phone can allegedly be unlocked for $45 from an alternative source, which I'm willing to do if it makes sense for my situation.
Referring to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2669498&page=15
I also noticed confusion about whether or not I can run CM11 properly on this particular phone. I first saw here that it apparently does work:
http://www.androidheadlines.com/2014/01/gsm-verizon-moto-g-gets-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-rom.html
But I haven't seen the xt1028 listed as a supported phone on any place to download CM11. So does it work? Does it basically work but have bugs?
Other major question is, can I unlock this prepaid verizon phone I have, install CM11 on it, and then successfully use it with my Verizon contract plan?
Would appreciate any thoughts. If I can actually do everything I want to do then I have no problem paying for the unlock code.
Thanks!
i don't think it'll unlock your phone.. try waiting for a while untill devs figure something out..

[Q] How to Unlock Bootloader on Moto G '13 Model

Hello everyone,
I am sure that this has been asked and answered before, but I have not found much solutions beyond the common "wait and see what happens".
My problem is that I own a 16GB 2013 Motorola Moto G which I purchased unlocked and with a Global GSM from Amazon in March and am having trouble unlocking the boot loader. I am currently connected to the Vodafone EG network (although not on a plan- it is prepaid).
I have gone through all the steps from [I am not allowed to post the link, but it's legit and consistent with all other tutorials.] but am told by the Motorola website that my phone cannot be unlocked. On the Motorola forums, it only states that Moto Gs sold by AT&T cannot be unlocked, so I am confused as the why the phone which I bought unlocked does not work.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go around rooting my phone? Is there any way to root it without directly unlocking the boot loader from Motorola? Would it work if I reset the phone/removed the SIM card?
Thanks.

$25 but its worth it. Think about all the freedom you get by unlocking the bootloader.
Sounds great, except the website states it only works on Moto Gs running 4.4.3 or lower. I am running 4.4.4 (sorry I forgot to mention that). Any suggestions?
Try to copy the code by hand
Download it and run it. Sunshine will first do a bunch of comparability tests. Only when the app knows its compatible it will pause and ask for payment. Once you pay, and if it doesn't work, they guarantee a refund on their site. Download it and try it, can't hurt. The site also states that it might work on some devices running 4.4.4
Also you stated that the Motorola website states only att phones cannot be unlocked. Maybe your phone cannot be unlocked because it was probably on the att network before it was gsm unlocked.

Not an answer to your current issue but may help with next one...
It's best to check these issues before you decide to buy a device. As a rule, avoid carrier-branded and/or network-locked devices unless the benefit to you outweighs the reality that your device belongs to that carrier/network forever and is likely permanently bootloader locked.
Carrier devices aren't discounted or subsidized usually, they are amortized. Overall, you may end up paying more than buying an unlocked device outright separately from a mobile plan.

Running H81010b, how and SHOULD I upgrade?

I'm running the ATT G4 H810 variant and I see everyone with versions of the firmware up to o. I'm on H81010b. When I tell the device to upgrade it tells me that my device is up to date. However, I've read people saying that devices like this, for example the G3, can only upgrade on the carrier they were intended for use on. I'm using mine on Cricket, and it is NOT unlocked, as Cricket is owned by ATT. So I'm wondering if I need to put in one of my kids ATT SIM's into it to get the update? Does that sound correct? Yes? Well then WHY, when I got a G3 ATT variant (D810) did the phone automatically upgrade itself to Lollipop from Kitkat even though I was only using it on Cricket? AFAIK both of these phones are carrier locked...
Also is there any reason I should want to update from H81010b? What are the advantages of each one? I see a lot of people saying that they DO NOT want to update so I"m at a loss for understanding the pros and cons of possibly updating my G4.
from what i've gathered the updates are mostly stagefright fixes.
Also if you haven't taken an OTA and you're interested in an unlocked bootloader then you're one of the lucky few who may be able to use the Unofficial Bootloader Unlock that's said to be coming.

Need help carrier unlocking two phones

Okay, as the title said, I need advice on a program or software that will help me unlock two different phones.
They're both Sprint phones and They're not easy to unlock, I'm normally pretty good with these kinds of things but Sprints CDMA garbage is preventing me from prevailing.
The first phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 running 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)
The second Phone is an LG G3 running 5.0.2 (Lollipop)
as i said they're Sprint phones but i need to unlock them so that I can switch over to T-Mobile
I'm not paying to get them unlocked because if i was going to i'd be better buying a new phone instead.
Any advice on how to do this or where to go that won't cost anything?
the help is very much appreciated, Thank you in advance.
