Need to recover deleted photos. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all. Is there a way to recover deleted photos? I'm running Alliance ROM Build 22. I've been Googling like a mad man, but all the methods require enabling USB mass storage which isn't possible on 4.3. Is there any other way? Or am I screwed Please they are irreplaceable pictures that I meant to back up. :'(

Were those pictures on phone memory or on external card....??

well if that is the case then you can simply pull out your sd card, plug that into your computer and use any recovery software to recover your data ..
not sure what data it will recover but sure it will ... i have been through same ...
Thanks

Installing new rom phone does not seem to wipe..

OK been doing this rom stuff since the captivate. But as I remember (whitch may be wrong) I thought a factory/data reset in CWM wipes the phone. As in every time in install a new rom(latest infuse 2.1) using full version and doing factory data reset all my files on internal memory are still present. I.E. the photos and app. folders..
Yes sorda newb question .

You need to factory reset your phone,or format your SD card to get that done bro

Done the factory reset in the phone under privacy.. never removes any files or folders .. just acts like the day I got it with having to run setup. But folders are still present. should I check that box after selecting. Says for external storage.

In regards to wiping all of the folders and such, you would need to unmount and format the sd card to remove all of that.
Factory Resetting only resets the OS and files related to that, which is why you are able to do it without losing any of your pictures, music, etc.

SD card says 100% full... but its not!

Just like the title says. I am trying to do a backup and it tells me that the SD card is full, but I went through and deleted a bunch of stuff off of it... This is quite frustrating and I don't really want to format the card as I have stuff on there I don't want to lose. Any ideas?
copy SD to computer then format? then move what you want back to SD when your done?

I figured out what it actually was... I saw a hidden folder called .trashes and it contained EVERYTHING I deleted. So I deleted it out of there and BAM, tons of room!
Ah, gotta love Mac. Delete everything only to have it moved to a hidden folder.

here's another thing (if youre sing a mac) when you delete something off your phone's sdcard using your mac, when youre done deleting everything empty your trash as long as its in your trash the phone still counts it as taking up space, idk why
Well on windows, with a portable device it just straight up deletes the files, or rather marks the space as empty, on the hard drive the space gets marked and the file goes to a 'secret' folder in the root of the drive until you empty the bin. Mac is similar but keeps the files on the drive. It also creates some sort cache for each file on the drive. A thumbnail cache maybe.

Using root explorer on the phone, you can just select to view hidden folders in the settings and it should show up on the root of the card. I can't help you with windows or Mac cause i haven't used either...

If you have access to a Mac, just plug it in and empty the trash. If you're on a pc you ahve to go to control panel>folder options> and check show hidden files and folders. You *may* have to tell it to show protected system files as well, I don't recall of the top of my head if you do or not.

When I figured out what was going on, I was using a windows pc and not my macbook. You basically need to be able to see hidden files/folders and find the .trashes folder and delete everything in it. I have not tried it through the phone so I would try what was said above if you want to use the phone.
Thank you my g2x people

Accidentally factory reset

So after JB update, my tablet keeps rebooting after few seconds. My bro got frustrated and keep pressing the button and he has accidentally factory reset the tablet. Now my work files and pictures are all gone. Is there a way to restore them?

Try connecting it to a windows pc, and then try a program that finds deleted files! You may find something!!

as windows dont see your tablet's drives as regular drives but as an emulated network device you wont be able to do anything this way.
if the data was on the sd card you can try to mount it directly on a pc with an usb adapter and use an undelete utility from windows
if it was on the internal memory, say farewell to your data and next time dont forget to backup everything before doing some major risky operation.
also, your brother, never give him -anything-.
It's the internal disk. So it is pretty much the end of the line for me? Arghh

since none of the tools can get direct read/write access via your pc - yeah
idk if there is smth. in the playstore thats actually not a scam and can recover deleted stuff on the internal drive.
set up TB to automatically backup to dropbox or google drive - that way your brother can drop it in a fishtank and you still have your data.
cheers

CWM ExtSDcard support?

Is there any way on the gs3 to save your nandroids to the ext SD card?
Mine shows the option greyed out.

If you booted into CWM using the EZ Recovery app then you would notice that you can manually save backups to either sd card.

It might also be that you don't have your external card formatted to fat32. CWM doesn't like the exFat format that I believe all big cards come in.

If your talking about rom manager then yea thats normal!
On a side note, I recomend flashing files manually in CWM recovery...you would not believe how many threads I have helped folks get out of a softbrick or bootloop situation by flashing with rom manager. The app works great, but you still need to know the background information on what your flashing! To many people think since they can pull the file up on RM, it must be compatible, or they flash with the wrong recovery = soft brick! Part of the main reason my guide is written in its fashion...provides proper instructions to flash, makes one read a bit, and repeats its self to pound the info into ones head. Not tryin to preach to ya, just wanted to share some possibly useful info to yourself and others. thx
I was wondering the same about saving to external from rom manager. So our only option it looks like is to boot to recovery and manually go to save it to the external sd?
Tap'n

Yeah that's what I was saying. And I don't flash anything with room manager lol. Just bought it back when I had the OG droid and then I seen that option so I was just curious.

Is there any other option without rooting your device?
If you do not wish to root your device then your only option will be to start deleting stuff to make more room.

I have this very same problem but it's nothing I have installed. I get the 'No free space on storage, click here to free some room' and then it shows me whats taking so much space, its only apps in this list, and that is ~80MB out of 3.9GB.
I used a rootexplorer to look around in the phone for some weird cache but found nothing. Nothing.
Please help, it even tells me I cannot receive any text messages.
Oh and..
Rooting is not an option since it's not my phone (borrowing it for.. probably a while..).
Wiping is not an option either.. :/
Any good apps for searching for weird stuff like this?
Thanks in advance.
