Best Verizon phone for under $300? - General Questions and Answers

OK I have had my LG G2 since last November and well I like it but have a problem. I have managed to crack the screen twice and don't know If I want to replace it again... Seen them selling for around $250 on eBay with cracked screens so iknow I could get that much for it. But is it better to replace it again.
Are there any good phones that I could use for verizon that would be under $300. I wish that the nexus 5 worked on verizon.

cracked?

So I've had my nexus s for like 3 months and the glass just mysteriously cracked. Wtf. And the asurion insurance wants me to pay 130 for them to replace it with a vibrant, not even a 4g a goddamn 3g vibrant. Wtf!
How is that even possible not the same phone
You have to be leaving something out

Nope not leaving anything out, because T-Mobile doesn't actually carry this phone the 8 bucks a month I spend on insurance can't replace this particular device. Just screwed unless I buy the touch screen digitizer glass assembly and fix it my self, which is what Iam going to do.
Wonder if you would be able to keep the busted nexus s with the claim, and get the other phone? I would fix the NS, then flip the other for cash.
Just a thought........

i don't know from experience, but i've been told that with sprint's asurion claims, many times they don't even ask for the original device back.
maybe tmo's policy is the same? and technically this wouldn't be fraud either.
The ESN becomes blacklisted so it doesn't become much more than a glorified media player.

thats what i thought too, but there are reports that sprint hasn't been blacklisting them. nonetheless, his is a gsm phone, so he wouldn't have to worry about that.
Yea they told me i would be billed like 30 bucks if i didnt return it, sooo... that might not be a bad plan. Thanks for the idea
WIN!
Usually that company will reimburse you for the cost of buying a new Nexus S, less the deductible. All you should have to do is send them the receipt. Call them and ask..that's what a lot of Nexus One owners had to do.

Its not that hard compared to the HD2. I found it quite easy actually. Look around on the tube, there are a lot of DIY videos for instructions. I bought mine off of eBay for around 25$. Good Luck!!
Let's see how it ends up best $50 I spent.

It was a success!

Looks good!! Wasnt too hard was it?
It was tricky at first. I didn't have the tools shipped to me. I still managed to succeed.

I recently dropped my phone and the screen cracked. I was looking on ebay for a digitizer and I tried asking the sellers about it but they don't speak english and couldn't answer my questions.
Do I have to buy a certain one? I know theres an AMOLED nexus and a SLCD nexus. Does it matter? I've found a few decent looking ones, but I'm a bit iffy about which one to buy. I see the OP had a successful run, maybe you could point me in the right direction?
Any help would be great!
Digitizers are the same with both the AMOLED and SLCD screens.
I almost bought one of these but was afraid of the install. If its really that easy I may get the cash to do it. Wish I could find a n1 for $50 i'd fix and give it to my girlfriend.
It isn't the easiest thing. Have a look through the youtube tutorials before you decide to pull your phone apart.
got one from ebay. came from hong-kong. followed a video tutorial on youtube and it took me +- 1 hour. not the easiest thing but doable.

Help me decide.

OK I have my sensation the phone have been replaced 3 times from HTC ( dust under screen) then I broke the screen and I pay $99 to fix it .
Now I broke it again my question is
1-fix it ( again)
2- buy a mi-one ( $500 )
3- move to sprint and grab a iPhone 4GS
I love the sansation but to many flaws at least to me;
And don't like any current T-Mobile USA phones.

it's your call. Apple is known for the good QA and you also pay for that with your money on the phone. You can also get insurance for your phone, which in about 2 years add to around $200 and it might even cover it if you were at fault. Stuff like breaking the screen is actually your fault so i don't think any good QA can fix that .
You also have another option: craiglist.->$300
I know I meant paying again to fix it other $99 .
And buying another sensation on craigslist its more like asking for more trouble

If you are willing to spend $500 bux on a mi one, why not just go GNex? Not your style?
I guess iPhone would be the way to go I guess.

[Q] Insurance Replacement options?

So this was addressed in a few older threads, but I haven't seen anything about it recently, so I'm hoping to get some updated info:
Has anybody tried to get a different phone through Assurion recently? My G2x recently took a dump and I need to file a claim. I'm going to ask Assurion if there are any different options than the G2x, in the hopes I can find something w/ stable CM9 or CM10.
I was wondering if anybody has done this recently and knows what options Assurion is offering now, as I know their stock rotates frequently.
Thanks
I was going to with my daughters but she dropped and the entire screen shattered. She loves that device due to the hdmi input. Now she's using An htc my touch til I upgrade her.

recently, they offered the htc amaze or galaxy blaze
A few months ago they sent me a HTC one S had to call and talk to them. If you do it online you will most probably get another g2x.

Better get her a decent case.
I doubt they will give you another G2x. I had in insurance claim maybe 6 months ago. They sent me the HTC Amaze. Good phone terrible battery life. Has to have one of the best cameras on a phone... Except for the Samsung Galaxy Note II I upgraded to a couple of weeks ago,

[Q] Cracked Screen Repair

Recently cracked my nexus 5 screen and I'm thinking about sending it to US lg (from here in Canada) for screen repair. Has anyone been in a similar situation and what's the best way to handle this?
Iv seen a few threads on this. Lg should charge about $150 USD the LCD and glass are fuzed together so you will need to replace the entire front panel. The part costs 100-150. If you are lucky you'll find it for 100 bucks. Its very easy to replace it yourself. But to have it replaced for $150 by the manufacturer is a no brainer for now. That is for the next for months. The cost of this part will go down for sure. I predict around 80-100 by may.

I had the screen on my Nexus 4 repaired through LG. It cost me $140 and they just sent me a new device. Took about a week from the time I sent it till I got my new one.

I have been waiting for the Nexus 7 screen+digitizer cost to go down for over 6-7 months now - no luck yet. I'm not sure the Nexus 5 will be any different. If it does, great, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that.
