[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 .7" Boot Loop - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there everyone.
I have a Galaxy tab 2 7" which has developed a problem.
Its stuck in a continuous boot loop when both connected to the computer or unplugged
I have changed the battery as I thought it had not been charged for a while but that has made no difference.
When plugged in the battery symbol shows then goes out
Repreated
When unpluged the Samsung logo shows then goes out
Repeated
I have tried booting into recovery mode which work but then the tab reboots and starts the Samsung Boot loop again
It has never been flashed so Im confused as what to do because the boot loop is continuous until the battery drains.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Sorry dude for the late reply
A)go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
B)type the model of tab 2 & download latest firmware
Then.....Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09 from. https://mega.co.nz/#!UdRRyCAT!H4FyVxYynNWvXqRNmnpMGQRCP-dG3uykgP2pT4rh8Ek
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Reboot and enjoy

Wont stay in download mode
Hello ashwin 007
I have tried to get into Download mode which i have done but then the tab reboots and leaves this mode and goes back to the Samsung logo continuously.
Therefore cannot seem to reflash firmware this way
Any other options or is it a dead dodo?

Try this
Put your phone to charge then keep the power pressed till it shutdown
It should not reboot if u put it in charge
Then unplug charge and then
Keep the volume down pressed and then the power at the same time
U should go to the menu like that picture above
When u see it leave the buttons
Then press volume up
It should get u to the download screen
Then go to the sammobile link above and install a software for your tab
Then load it in Odin as above then press start
--------------------------*-*-*-*-&*8*&&*-8*9*8-%8**-6
If u already have a software u don't need to dop the above
Just
Put it to charge and turn it off
Unplug
Volume up+power till it opens
Wait for the recovery
Wipe data and ...
Wipe cache(not neccecery)
Then reboot

Hi there peeps,
just like to say thanks for the help so far and apologies if i'm not making myself very clear.
I tried as you suggest but when plugged in it shows battery symbol with no charge on constant reboot loop
When NOT t shows samsung logo on constant reboot loop
The Tab does not switch off altogether, it always shows either battery or samsung logo
it remains on some kind off boot loop until battery drains.
Once drained and plugged in again shows boot loop again
I can press power and vol down which takes it to the screen pictured on previous post.
If i take my fingers of all buttons when this happens the tab WILL reboot back to the Samsung boot loop after approx 2 seconds
So i can get to the option screen but cannot press vol up to continue because the tab reboots automatically.

Does kies detect your tablet?
Since you have original firmware, may reflashing it again could help.

what happend with u ?

same problem here! but i made it boot!
I have the same problem.
As a matter of fact my device is in boot loop all the time...
What i did is that i cracked open the device... and i tried everything... disconnected the batterry, pressed the power button down for many seconds with and without the batterry... nothing...
After all these, i started disconnecting stuff from the pcb to see what is stopping the system from booting (in the loop it showed that the battery was empty. but it wasn't. when it booted it had 70%)
I disconnected the power button molex and boom! manual recovery mode!
But without any buttons what can you really do.
The moment i put the molex back on and navigated through the selections... after 3 seconds it started looping again...
One of the times, i was fast and i pressed the system restart, then disconnected the molex again. BOOM ! device restarted...
Once in the device started i thought i would plug in the buttons molex back... then the power down menu popped out and ... boot loop started again ...
Now it is still opened in main screen, without buttons connected, and i'm afraid to plug them back in
[edit]
When i disconnect the buttons molex ribbon it boots up normally.
Every time i push the buttons molex ribbon back in it goes in loop.

SOLVED ! ! !
BOOT LOOP... SOLVED ! ! !
I took a cotton bud, dipped in alcohol, then squeezed for the excess liquid to run out (local "Cretan Raki" made from grapes like Italian "Grappa" you could also use vodka), and i cleaned the contacts on the outside of the plastic molex connector of the ribbon.
Then cleaned the area very well, with a dry cotton bud, before reconnecting.
It seams that the dust particles had created a some sort of short circuit. (the device is clean inside! that impresses me the most)
Mine works now!

Bricked SG Tab 2 7.0

Ok. I bought this Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 from a friend for cheap because I thought I could fix it, but I'm running out of options. It's in a boot loop, but an abnormal boot loop. If it's unplugged, It will do the splash screen (Samsung) boot loop. If it's plugged in, either into the wall or into my computer via usb, it will do a battery (charging) boot loop. It's kinda weird. I used to have an Epic 4G and it happened damn near all the time, without the battery loop, but it would charge normally.
I haven't successfully gotten it to boot into Download mode.
If any of you have come across this issue, please feel free to help me out.
I also attached a picture of me attempting to put it in download mode. It reboots if I hit either VOL up or VOL down.
Thanks

Can you get into recovery? Also, have you tried unplugging the charging cable and getting into download mode with the cable unplugged?
I'm not sure how to get into recovery. With it unplugged, all I have to do hold the VOL Down physical button and ti will take me to a "are you sure you want to put the device into download mode screen". I apologize. I'm not to familiar with this device.
Edit: After I get to the screen where it asks me if i want to go into download mode, it reboots within 5-10 seconds, no matter which button I press

Hold power and Volume up (volume button closest to the power button) until the tab shuts off and reboots itself and then you can let go of both buttons. If it works, try doing a factory reset. Was this tablet rooted (or have a custom rom installed) in the past?

No, his device is fine.
If your device bricked, but still showing Gtab2 logo on it, it's still fine. You need to flash to stock 4.03 rom via ODIN. (Not clockworkmod)
Warranty won't work if you have flashed custom ROM before.

He needs to be able to get into Download Mode to use Odin. He stated that he can't. When he tried to continue into download mode by pressing volume up (vol. button closes to power button) the tablet reboots. It needs warranty service.
Experiments:
Power off the tab completely and charge completely and press power +volume up for 10 seconds then release, also try to power off and press power+ volume down for 10 seconds then release do you see any screens
If it says do you want to enter download mode or so press volume up and see if you could see (downloading) try also the same with volume down instead of up
Try to connect to computer do you see any messages indicating connections
Also try to connect to kies and try restore or recover firmware from options of kies
You said it reboots after 5 to 10 seconds so try to open odin and try to go to download mode and when you press volume up try as quickly as possible to connect tab to pc while odin is open

There's other method by using OpenRecovery (OR), by putting OR on external SdCard,
but it seems the OR for Gtab2 is not developed yet -__-

[Q] Probably bricked P3113 - Need Confirmation

So, been running CM10 for a long time on tab. Decided to go back to stock, and downloaded the JB stock rom. Flashed via ODIN. Everything seemed to go OK, except that after the flash the screen went black for ages, and didn't reboot. So I hard powered it off. Probably what did it, but it wasn't going anywhere for about 15 minutes, so figured it was the next step.
Now, I get the battery charging icon. The system goes through the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 white logo, the swirling then glowing Samsung logo, and then loops through that forever.
It wouldn't be such a problem if I could back into ODIN and do another flash, but I can't get into download mode (normally I do it via adb but that isn't working since there is no USB connection at all). Tried all combinations, power/up, power/down etc. It just boot loops as above. I'm pretty sure I bricked it, but just wanted some confirmation.
Been doing this on and off for a long time, and it's the first time I've ever got stuck like this.
Thanks in advance.
Plug USB charger, your device will boot into charge mode. From charge mode you can boot into recovery by keep holding VOLUME UP button and than press POWER button. Clear data and cache in recovery, reboot.

Thanks, but I tried all combinations of Power/Volume UP and Power/Volume DOWN, it just goes through a normal boot cycle until it starts looping.
I guess it's possible I'm not using the right timing. I'm assuming that you hold Volume UP or DOWN and then press and hold Power until the screen goes black, and then release? I've done it like that many times, and also continued to hold everything down as the logo appears, and then system goes back to the battery charging icon as if it powers off again. I sound like such a noob when I type stuff like that!
I saw ODIN successfully write system.img, boot.img, and recovery.img, so I'm thinking any CWM recovery I had on there is toast.

How did I not think to disconnect the USB before trying this? tuxafgmur, your first "Thanks" has been registered, I've got it from here!
P.S. Welcome to the forum!
it sounds strange. never heard of such a strange boot problem. anyway it could be that while transferring boot.img it became damaged due to some error. i know you probably tryed but you may try and connect it to linux or mac os x in order to check if you could retrive more data about the tab. for example the mac could find if it is totally corrupted. normally when i plug my samsung devices it ask me to add the samsung-modem also if they are turned off. meybe if it happens the same to you you can try to adb fastboot it also if i doubt myself about it working, but give it a shot
i hope my bad english is not preventing you to understand what i'm saying!

Seems like stuck power button
Okay if it's not stuck power button , Below trick may solve ur problem
1 Go to full stock using heimdal one click, After completetion, U may stuck in bootloop as you said
2 Flash efs.zip found in the link below using odin. put efs.zip in odin and untouch any other setting and flash, (Ur imei may be previously corrupted so u got bootloop). This doesnot do any harm. So flash with confidence. If ur device doesnot show up in odin after u flash with heimdal one click , reinstal drivers with kies mini
Link for download http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1729838
3 Now u'll be out of bootloop if ur imei was previously corrupted.
Do as I said stepwise
I was in similar situation. And this solved my problem.

Take out the battery for 1 minute and put the battery inside , if again it automatically starts then may be ur power button is stuck;
U need to disassembly according to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewdyo2fkJj8 video
and press the power button from inside after u open the nod
And if ur power button is not stuck ie after u open ur battery and put after 1 min and if doesnot starts automatically,
do the step I mentioned above
For efs download below.
If the process doesnot work let me know
I have next option for you. But do the step i mentioned above step by step.

excellent! and if the power button is stuck and let him yesterday when I left work without the battery and when you return in the morning and went back to get quickly rekindled, when you get home you have to hand screwdrivers do, many thank you! then comment as I was :good:
Two things can be wrong here. Power button or bad USB port. I replaced my power button that fixed only part of the problem. Can be imei problem. I'd put it into download mode flash back to stock. If problem persist you can rule out software n proceed to hardware. A way to test the power button is if you were able to boot into recovery.
One way to get it to boot up IF IF IF its not a power button problem
Slide out battery..... Slide battery back in ... right after you put the battery in plug in your USB charging cable(you have to do it pretty quick).... You should get a green recharging battery logo.... While this logo is up continuously press the power button...
Sometimes its just a bad/faulty or dirty USB port. Its a bit difficult to solder a new button thats that's why its best to make sure its the button. I'm talking from experience. you can clean the button.. I read some thread where people would just drop the phone purposely to get the button unstuck.
If not don't worry power button are pretty cheap on eBay as well as ports.

well ... Yesterday I opened the phone according to the video tutorial that I spend @amritn as seen in the image.
but when I do what you tell me to put the battery and place the USB cable quickly becomes thus passes this black screen, and press the power button nothing happens.
So if I saw this other tutorial yesterday and when I opened the phone yesterday I did the last step, I opened it and review only the shell of the phone does not have the button stuck and do not touch the equipment itself, not if I have to prove with doing what it says here in whole or proceed to restore the imei .... I say?
sorry for my bad English that comes thanks to google translator

If that exactly the same things happen in video, Then i'm afraid to say it's power button failure.
Or if u can go normally to download mode using volume up+ volume down and inserting usb cable when the phone is power of
go to my second process from heimdal one click and restoring efs. This may solve your problem if it's software related.

Galax S7 does not turn on – Nothing works

Hi,
today in the morning I couldn’t turn on my S7. It went off while charging overnight. Then I tried to hold the volume down and the power button together for twelve seconds and the S7 turned on. Unfortunately it just boots to the Samsung logo and nothing happens since then.
I wrote to the Samsung support and they told me to send it in. And they also said that I will lose my warranty if I make a hard reset. Is that true? Because the other thing is, that I really need some very important data from just one app. I already did a hard reset in the past and the data from this app didn’t get lost. I don’t know why (no cloud synchronization) but it worked. My plan was to try a hard reset but my phone is fully charged and I cannot turn it off to get into Recovery mode.
So basically I have three questions:
1. Will I lose my warranty if I do a hard reset?
2. Is there any possibility turn off my phone or to unload my battery? (And after that to try a hard reset.)
3. Does anyone have any idea how to save some date by any other way?
Thank you very much for any help!
Samsung are full of sh** if they told you you would lose warranty by performing a full reset, nothing of the sort
Warranty is checked by KNOX 0x0 = valid (Or 0x1 if it is tripped) which is only tripped by flashing something custom / rooting
Try booting into recovery and clearing only the caches, see if you can get back in that way
Otherwise, flashing the same stock ROM over the top with ODIN may work
Thank you for your answer.
Any idea how to boot into recovery mode? The problem is that in the moment I cannot turn off my phone and it's fully charged. I guess it would last some days to wait until the battery is empty. And unfortunately you can't remove the ****ing battery.

Volume up & Home & Power
Keep those buttons held in until the phone reboots, continue holding them and it should reboot a 2nd time, this time hopefully entering recovery
You can try the same for download mode, which is the same combo, only volume down instead of up

I did this combo. Following message did pop up:
"Warning
A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel."
First i pressed the volume down button and then nothing happened and it booted again until the Samsung logo. In my second try I pressed the volume up button and now I am here (see attached pics).

Well that's download mode where you can flash the stock ROM with ODIN, so you can at least flash stock again, which may work, but I would try recovery first though, the first combo I posted with Volume Up

I tried the combo with the vol up key and I came to the exact same menu which I described above. (Then I pressed the volume down key and the phone boooted to the Samsung logo).
Now only the combo with the vol down key works. If I press vol up + home + power nothing happens. I don't get this ****.

OK, it's possible that recovery got corrupted then
Right, so grab a stock ROM from here
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=G930F
Extract and Load the .MD5 into ODIN AP section
Put the phone into download mode and hit start
It should reboot hopefully into a working OS
if not, try entering recovery again
ODIN

No, as I said earlier, warranty is only affected if you flash something custom
Stock Samsung ROMs are not custom
For a very short time my phone startet adnroid, but everyhing was black und I just saw the notifications bar. I couldn't do anything. After that my phone did a reboot and now I am again at the Samsung logo. The combi with vol up still doesn't work.

You managed to download and flash a stock ROM in that short time?
Might need to flash the entire set of files from the ROM download in ODIN, which I think might reset the phone with one of them (HOME I think)
EDIT - Another option would be firmware recovery using SmartSwitch
http://www.samsung.com/uk/smart-switch/samsung-desktop-app.html
Good day.
Recently happened to me something similar, while i was playing, the phone rebooted and got stuck at samsung logo.
The phone was rooted, with TWRP and Xposed.
Really don't know what happened. At the time, in panic, i flashed a stock ROM and the phone never booted again. Just a blank screen and a blue led.
I sent my phone to Samsung for warranty and 1 month later (5 days ago), got it back working, even with KNOX 1x0.
In most of Europe, Samsung cannot charge you anything even if the phone was rooted, with the exception if it was root that directly caused the malfunction.
I am having the same problem. the combo with Vol up does not work. Any further help, PLEASE?

Samsung A51 Stuck in bootloop, help ASAP

Hello,
Recently ive tried to root my samsung galaxy a51 using this tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...1-sm-a515f-one-ui-3-0-dub1-android-11.4231543
everything went smoothly, however my finger has slipped from the volume up button at step 6. resulting in an endless bootloop.
ive tried to enter recovery mode, but theres no response, it flashes the logo for 1 second, a warning that says my bootloader is unlocked and that im using unofficial samsung software.
the only response i get from the phone is when i try to enter recovery mode while the phone is charging, i insert the charger, instantly press volume down and the power button and the charging circle appears, when i let go of the volume down and power button it once again starts going into the bootloop mode
ive tried plugging in my phone to my pc but theres no response
i dont believe that its hard bricked because of the charging circle that appears
any advice?
tysm
Let the battery die, and just try to boot to download mode at the instant when it is plugged into a charger.

Hey! I had the same exact issue and have figured a simple method to fix this. Just hold the power button+ the volume down button at the same time while having your phone plugged into any computer or a wall plug (computer recommended).
Once you do that you will notice the phone has shut down and gave you either a black screen or a charging logo, Both are good. Then wait for 1 second then hold down the power button + the volume up button and it should take you straight to the recovery mode options that might look like this.

Once you are there, Use the volume up to click reboot system now. However if you see different options it might be because you have another model of android, Older models etc... But if you don't see anything appear you might have corrupted your bootloader or recovery mode menu. I do not know how to fix the corruption but if none of these worked, Try again without a charger. Best of luck.
Hope this helps!!!
Unfortunately, this just happened to me too, also I followed the same thread as mentioned above, However I'm still able to get into twrp recovery after some tries. I will try to flash some ROM maybe it will fix it.
