Charging of the LTE version - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, does the USB3 port really provide faster charging for the Note PRO 12.2? Could anybody provide the following info:
1. Charging from 0% to 100% while the device is unused.
2. Charging from 0% to 100% while using the device. I heard that for the 10.1 2014, recharging is not as fast as usage. So, even with the device plugged to to the power supply, one could use up the power. Does the PRO 12.2 LTE has this problem?
Thanks.

Every night I'd use my wifi version while plugged in to surf and watch videos and I don't think I ever got it to go negative when doing two things at once. I'm not sure if pushed really hard what would happen though.
It has been said that the LTE version charges much faster though so I too am interested to see what others have to say about this. I may be picking up an LTE version soon.

A Note on Charging Issues with The i727 and possible i727r Skyrocket

For folks that are experiencing various charging issues, especially slow charging, and or inability to go to deep sleep after charging, I want to point out something that folks may be doing without realizing the pitfalls of doing so.
DO NOT CHARGE YOUR SKYROCKET WITH A DIFFERENT CHARGER THAN IT CAME WITH.
Here's why: The Skyrocket actually come with a 5v 1.0 Amp Charger. This is a higher output than similar phones, even the regular Galaxy SII from AT&T uses a significantly lower output charger. The best reason I can see for this is the large stock (1850mAh) battery in the Skyrocket, put there to help overcome the demands of LTE, which is a bit of a beast as far as power consumption.
This charger appears to be the same one Samsung ships with the Note, a device with a huge battery, though I have only been able confirm this by a visual. But this shows what Samsung's intent was. And a properly working charger should completely charge the Skyrocket in a couple of hours if turned off, 3-4 if running. Any longer and something is not right.
That's okay, since it is power "well spent" in my opinion, assuming you are actually in an LTE area. Those that are not though, I would have considered carefully the price you pay (in battery life) for no appreciable return, unless you are in a "coming soon" area, which is actually true for many Skyrocket owners. Alternately you can root, and use appropriate tools to drop back to HSPA+ or (shudder!) Edge.
The 1850mAh stock battery is decent, removable/replaceable unlike the new trend of sealed battery compartments, and it's possible to cram a Galaxy Nexus Battery in there (barely, and some have been unable to).
For problems with deep sleep, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that unplugging while the screen is ON makes some difference, though in my testing (with a single example; my own phone) I could not reproduce this.
even if i dont use lte it still drains? im on rogers so its rat unlocked. how can i turn it off?
I use an iGO 5.0v 850mA USB wall charger and I also use the GNex extended battery. After charging all night I unplugged charger and let it sit for 19 min with screen off. Of that 19 min, according to CPU Spy, it spent the entire time at 384mhz and not 1 sec in deep sleep.
I rebooted the phone and ran the same test, this time it spent 97% of the time in deep sleep and the rest at 384mhz. Pretty conclusive if you ask me.
i used to notice this issue, but on the most recent CM9 nightlies (from about 7/2 on) the issue has went away. this is with both the charger that came with the phone, as well as the one that came with my captivate, which i have a usb extension hooked between the charger and the usb cable.

I think usb extension messed up my cord, not sure yet have to confirm it but I have no idea why just recently the cord has been transferring at 1mb/s~ to my SDCard. Not my SD card because I put it on my USB adapter and it was going 10-15mb/s I'll test with the s3's cord lol

charging issues jelly bean

ofc its a rom issue as when i go back to ics the charging its ok! in jelly bean its very slow! i mean i put on charge all night and only about 20% charged! its not hardware problem, but jb issue. i just dont see anyone else here with note 10.1 complaining about this.
Don't have that problem, Only goit 3hours sleep last night and plugged in note before going to bed. Fully charged from 46% in 3 hours.... You might have a problem with your charger/cable/charging port....
If you have an S2,S3 or Note 2, or an old Gtab, the charger works for your note so you can check where the problem is....
Only charging issue I have is when I use different charger other than the original one then its slow..if I use the original one its fast

The OEM charger supplies 2 Amp hours of current to the battery. If the battery takes any more than 3.5 hours to charge the 7Ahr battery then there is something wrong with the tab or the charger.

Note takes around 5 hours to do a recharge, but if you have extention USB cable of a after market USB connector for longer length it will increase the charging time
Max charging time for me with OEM is about 3.5 hours with power saving mode on and screen off, or around 2.5-3 with the tablet OFF. Thats with a 6-9% battery remaining. Anything much more means something is eating your battery in the background while you are charging.. make sure you use OEM charger.
my charger was slow charging right from the box. They gave me a new one the next day and everything is fine now.
Thats odd. I never had any charging problems when i upgraded to jellybean. Have you compared your unit with someone who also has a note 10.1?
I picked mine up on Thursday and charged it to 100% with the supplied charger and cable, installed the 4.1 system update and used it throughout the following day watching video and general playing. I had it plugged in whilst I was using it and noticed it discharging, odd I thought as it should at least have maintained its charge but after my battery level dropped to 19% on that evening I turned it off completely and left it overnight, this morning it had only charged a further 20%. It has to be a firmware issue as its the only thing thats changed since I first charged it fully without any issues (first charge on 4.0 took approx 3 hours from unboxing).
I also have the same problem. Any solution to this?
I also want a solution to this.
I'm at wits end and feel like smashing this thing.

No. Its still doesn't charge faster. Same result.
Its going back to Samsung today.
That sounds screwy... I have mine on all the time, plug into the wall and about 3 - 5 hours later its fully charged...
Might be the wall charger is the problem, Samsung may have a batch of faulty chargers....
Doubt its the charger. Because its now 100% full but still says charging, not charged like on 4.0.4.
Even my battery stats don't reset anymore.
In my opinion something happened in this OTA. Been viewing many 10.1 forums for a while now and never read anything about charging issues. Since the update, its an issue unless all of us just happened to either have faulty chargers at the same time or we all downloaded the same app at the same time which is the source of the issue. Im gonna say its not neither of those because what did happen, is we all downloaded an OTA at the same time and have since had this issue.
One thing I have noticed that works a little better for me is to do a reboot right before I throw it o the charger. I dont unlock it or anything, just keep it on the charger.
Im thinking of rooting over the weekend and trying a few different ROMs to see what happens.

Just a thought, but lots of people are complaining about this and lots of people are not experiencing a slow charge.
The update has been rolled out in many countries now - so what country are you all in and what sort of mains power do you have? Maybe it's something related to that
Shouldn't matter as the charger is the one in charge of voltage to the Note.
You can use a charger from America in Australia, UK or Europe (with an adaptor of course) and it should charge your note the same everywhere.
I have tested this by using a stepdown transformer to charge my note at 110 volts as well as the normal 240volts we use here in Australia. No difference.
I have an overseas model Note and need an adaptor to connect to the Oz mains. I also have another note bought here in Australia and it works fine using either Australian or overseas charger too at either 110V or 240V...

How is the real charging speed?

One reasons that I am considering the Note PRO 12.2 is the possible faster charging speed. If I watch videos and/or browse the web non-stop while charging the device, will it run out of power? I read that for the 10.1 2014, consumption of electric power is faster than charging. Thanks.

The charge speed is faster than the uncharge speed on the wifi model. You might wanna take a look at the lte model though if charge time is important to you because that model has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. The Snapdragon 800 has QuickCharge 2.0 on board. Depending on the adapter it should charge very fast.
In case of buying, I will buy the LTE version. Thanks.

When I got mine yesterday (wifi) it was at 55%. I plugged it in and started to set everything up, basically restoring from my google account, syncing corp mail, etc. It was fully loaded down with tasks. After an hour or so the battery fluctuated between 54%-56% the whole time. It wasn't until I let it go to sleep that it finally started really charging.
I can't give you metrics because I haven't measured them yet, but it definitely charges faster than it drains, so if you have it plugged in you won't take it to zero even under heavy load.
I did notice something strange however, I first tried charging it with the charger of my Note 2 phone (5v, 2A) and it charged until 90%, then got stuck there. Wouldn't go past 90%.
I then used the charger that came with the Note (visually identical to the Note 2 one) and it progressed to 100%. The difference is that the new one is 5.3v/2A. As far as I can see, the thing charges pretty fast even with the huge battery, but I'm already used to waiting a bit because of the Note 2 (3100 or 3200 mAh).
Using the stock charger with 3.2a adapter it charges slowly even with the screen on. With the screen off it charges fast - the screen is the main power draw.

I got mine last Friday and I only charged once . Came with 40%, used it down to 17% then let it charge for like 3 or 4 hours. It's charging about the same speed as Note 10.1 (SLOWLY). It's nice but haven't had that much time to fool around with it since Friday. It's freaking expensive and that's the thing I keep thinking about 750 (32g) + 60 for a 64g Samsung Msd card. Now I got to find a case and the only ones I seen so far are the one with the BT keyboard for 100 and a Samsung case for 69.00. None of the other cases online are in stock yet.. I been trying to wait but im afraid I will drop it
It only seems slightly faster then my 10.1 (CY 11) on it but I know for video its much sharper screen.
It charges faster than the Nexus 10 provided it has bigger battery. It took around 4 hours to charge to 100% starting with 20% remaining battery. My Nexus 10 needed at least 6 hours to charge full in that situation. However, on the other side I used the device to watch a 1080p video (around 90 minutes) with WiFi on and it reduced from 55% to around 25% which is I think too much.
My batt did good the first day now it seems like it is draining very fast. I am looking into what is making it do this. I can't wait for CWM and custom Roms

Note Pro 12.2 doesn't turn on after not used for two weeks [Solved]

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 for a while now. It has stock KitKat, rooted, and xposed installed. No problems. I've been using it less and less though, because this tablet only holds two movies worth of charge, and I feel like I always have to charge it when I don't want to.
Now, I hadn't touched it for two weeks, and it's off. I guess it just ran out of power. But the battery animation doesn't show when charging, and it won't turn on.
I left it on the power for a full day, even though I didn't see a charging animation, but I still couldn't turn it on.
I never had this on any android device, and I have no clue as to whether there are certain tricks to try to get it to work again before I can commence crying.
You have to hold the power button down for like 6 sec. Or more ...maybe that will work?
Yes, I tried for 60 seconds, you never know.
But I got it to work again! I drew the wrong conclusion.
I, by accident, tried again using the original charger. And now it charges!
I always use the usb power-out on the powercube on my desk. It is rated 2.1A while the original charger is only 2.0A, so technically it seems to be no problem and in practice it never was a problem.
From this experience I conclude that the tablet does charge with the powercube, but only if it's not dead. If there is absolutely no power in the tablet, it will only charge with the original charger. When charged a bit, it will continue charging with the powercube.
Strange story. I hope it might help someone else too.
I've heard that issue before with other devices, too. Seems to be a Samsung quirk. :silly:
Only two films worth of charge? I managed to watch the entire LOTR extended trilogy(11 and a half hours) on one charge on my p905, and it still had 18% left at the end... on a nonrooted, stock firmware. Is yours the Snapdragon or Exynos version?
12 hours of movie? I think I can do 6 hours of movie at the absolute most. And then it has to charge slowly for 8 hours. (See my problem with this tablet? )
I have Exynos version. It was already 'meager' when I first used it, before it was rooted. I read some more complaints about the moderate battery of the SM-P900, so I assumed it was unfortunate but normal.

Do you have another device or an extra cable and charge to make sure that its truly a tablet battery issue and not a charger or cable issue.

Question Turbo Charge Question

I have never used any fast chargers or fast chargeable phones. My last phone was Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and I would basically attach it to my laptop at night and let it charge overnight. On this device (Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5g/peux) with turbo charge the phone fills up very fast and I love it. However I want to know if the charger or the phone is capable of variable charging and stop pumping 67W once the device is full. Atm I stay on my toes while the phone charges so I can quickly unplug it. I want to know if its okay to let the phone stay plugged in as long as its for a little while after reaching 100%.

Hi, I checked using ampere app and it stopped charging quickly after reaching 100%
If you're like me who let's his phone charge over night you can enable the hidden optimized charging feature, it slows down your rate of charge depending on when u plug it in (it learns from your behaviour) but still makes sure ur phone is charged within the time that you'd need it
if you still need more charging tweaks i suggest using Advanced Charging Controller, with it you can change almost everything but it requires root access
edit: don't try to plug your phone into a laptop for charging unless you definitely need it because this huge of a battery is gonna take entire days to charge

I mean I charged my 4000mah battery using a battery bank. How do I enable the hidden charging feature? Why the hell is it hidden and why am I playing Indiana Jones in the lost city of miui?

Ah With a charging bank it's great,
Sadly I'm not 100% sure if the device has the feature, i can say that my older device did (it was a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro)
(I can't tell you because I'm no longer using Miui...)
You can check if it has that
this is a tutorial on how to access it, ignore what the guy is talking about since you might not understand his language.
He is showing it for a different device but it should be the same for this one hopefully
also don't worry since you've bought a Xiaomi device you'll become an epic gamer now
Xiaomi has several inbuilt games like
Kernel Sources Hunter - This is a game where you have to track and hunt down kernel sources for the device because Xiaomi cannot bother to release kernel sources themselves so that we can get actual development started
