[Q] HTC Wildfire A3333 HARDLOCKED - General Questions and Answers

I am a 65 year old android phone nooby I do not have a clue how these things work, I got the Wildfire A3333 off my son who purchased it secondhand off e-bay. It was completely locked up, but I purchased an unlock code that did not work? So went on you tube and found out how to reset it by clearing it? I put in a new sim card and I connected to the internet ok but when I tried to phone to set up the SIM it would not connect, nor will it send messages, it has a phone number in there that does not belong to it? because when I phoned it instead of ringing, a bloke answered?? Is there a way to get pass this hardlock or is it useless for phoning /messaging, everything else works internet, camera etc.

clear storage is just about the sdcard as far as i know. Other way is to factory reset in the android settings under "storage" or "security"
Just in case that will not help we can think about further steps to reset the phone. If its a used phone i CLEARLY recommend to reset or better reflash it bacause you cant if the last owner installed any malicious software on the phone.

Ok thank you I will try that :good:

I followed your instructions and did a factory reset, but it is still the same? except now there is no red triangle when I try to phone 150 to register the SIM card, I still can not access the call forwarding/call barring settings? And to be honest I do not have a clue what reflash means?
Thanks for help anyway:good:

Reflash means to reinstall the operating system (Android) on the phone. Compared to install windows on a home computer. It needs some more experience flashing a firmware but i can assisst you.
The point is that it seems as someone modified the phone on his own or the phone is from a different region/country. Just to be clear. Why did you buy a locked phone?
To know how to act pls do as followed:
Turn off phone. Go into "BOOTLOADER" by pressing "Vol down + Power" for some seconds. It will show some info. Please take a photo and upload it. then go to section "SIMLOCK" and take a photo too.
With this informations i can easiest tell you if its modified and how to get rid of the lock.

I did not buy it, it was given to me by my youngest son, he has learning difficulties and I do not think he knew what he was buying? And I think he tried accessing it until it completely locked up? It has been in a drawer for two years and came to light when he recently moved house, he also took out the SD card and misplaced it.

I hope I have done this right

Just right. I Look Out for compatible files.

@Donnydave
Please download this --> HTC Wildfire unbranded RUU
and HTC USB drivers
you will also need a working usb cable and of course your computer
BTW it was good to have a micro sd card (Not necessary)
---------- Post added at 07:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------
Install the driver and Make sure HTC sync (in case you installed it before) is closed. Start the phone into bootloader and select "fastboot" while connected to your computer. It should show up "fastboot usb" then you can run the RUU ( the big file you downloaded ) it will flash the stock firmware on your phone. Keep in mind that all personal data will be cleared during the flash process. If it runs successfully you should not face trouble anymore. If issues remain just tell me. Its important that the firmware update is NOT INTERRUPTED in any way, as it could make the device temporarily unusable. This should work fine for you, but of course its in YOUR RESPONCE what happens to the phone. So just go on, if you're sure how to act.

I can not get my computer to run the HTC Driver programme? I think a virus programme or firewall is stopping it opening?

It's NO VIRUS for sure. You can cut internet connection and deactivate antivirus to solve it and still be safe. After installing you can reactivate AV.
To proceed:
You are running a windows computer? Have installed any syncing software e.g. Samsung KIES, HTC Sync, Blackberry Chimera? If yes, uninstall it pls.
I ask bacause i NEVER had issues with installing teh HTC driver. Does it show up any error message?

I think its English? but I just want to be sure about the driver install please I think I will be able to do the flash, do I just click on the HTC Driver link and plug my phone in? I am a complete novice at this :good: I did not try last night because my battery went low and I did not want to interupt the install? fully charged now,:good: Thank you

First Download BOTH files please. That means to save them to your computer.
Run the HTCdriver4.2.exe as it provides the needed drivers. It will tell you that drivers have been installed successfully when finished.
Then you can boot the phone to "bootloader" and select "Fastboot" connect it to your computer and it will show "fastboot USB". Keep the phone connected like that.
Run the RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
It is self explaing BUT to be safe: Check the box "I read and understand it" - press next - Check "steps done" and press next.
NOW the programm will start flashing the firmware (Operating System + some other needed files).
Once finished the programm will tell you "successfull ...!
You should be able to boot Android and everything should be resetted and set back to stock.
Then you can try if you still face any issues with the simcard.

This link is being stopped by malwarebytes saying potential malicious site??

Malware bytes can interrupt flashing process. But I send you another link if you want. Please deactivate Malware bytes for the time you interact with the phone

[Q] Activation Problem - Boot Loop

So I sold an unopened, sealed Nexus 5 to someone last night and he's having a problem activating the device.
Here is his description of what happened:
"I popped in the SIM card, the loading proceeded as normally. It said it was activating and then a box popped up saying that "android is upgrading system files" or something like that. It restarted and went back to the language selection screen. I pressed English, next and then it went to the connect to wifi screen, froze and then restarted before I could even connect. Now it just loads on the boot"
I had him boot into recovery and do a factory reset, but the result is the same. I had him do a 2nd factory reset just be sure, but again, same result.
My thought is the system upgrade didn't happen correctly and not is corrupted.
What's the best course of action? Can I use the WugFresh toolkit to flash stock and unroot, or would I have to do it through ADB since the phone can't boot into the system?
I don't want to leave the buyer hanging, he seems like a nice guy, but I'm just not sure how to proceed?
Use ADB and flash the factory image for him.

Easy walkthrough:
1) Install ADB drivers (You can do it with WUG Toolkit).
2) Reboot your device in Fastboot mode (Hold up/down volume and power)
3) Download the latest HAMMERHEAD image from google website.
4) Download the Google SDK (not needed, but you will need Fastboot.exe, so I would recommend downloading the whole thing)
5) Unzip the image (.tar or .tgz I think) to the location where Fastboot.exe is (all the files should be in the same directory, usually platform-tools)
6) Double-click on the flash-all.bat file from the unzipped .tar or .tgz folder, should install stock image on your phone (note that you might need the latest version of Java installed on your computer)
And you're done.
Hope it helped!

Hello, I am the buyer of this Nexus device. I was able to successfully do these steps above, and reload the stock image for the Nexus 5. However, I am still running into issues.
WITH SIM:
I was able to get to the home screen after the initial setup, sent a few test text messages to my Google Voice number successfully, and browse on Chrome for a little bit before the device froze and restarted. After it restarted, I let it load up again, tried setting up my Google account on the device, then it froze again. All of the freezing happens within 3-5 minutes of using the phone.
So I decided to go into the bootloader, and do a factory wipe/cache wipe, and proceed without having the sim card in. I was able to get to the wifi selection screen, select my router, but as soon as the keyboard was suppose to pop up, the device froze and restarted. I am now just stuck on the welcome screen.
Any ideas now?

Update: So I'm not sure what happened, but I ended up locking the device through Wug's Nexus Toolkit, inserted my sim card, and proceeded to set up the phone normally. So far everything has been working perfectly fine. I can receive/send texts, make and receive calls, and do normal functions with the phone without it locking up and restarting. Fingers crossed it'll stay like this.
Any idea on why this would've happened in the first place with the device?
---------- Post added at 01:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:45 AM ----------
Update 2: Well, I noticed that it will randomly reboot every half hour or so it seems. It's kind of random, but I'm not sure what else could be causing these random reboots. The phone itself is working fine, but I just started experiencing random restarts.

It was working fine earlier. I put it on the charger and got it to about 50%, used it for a little bit, then bam. It froze, and restarted all over again. I can use the phone maybe 5 - 10 minutes before it starts to recharge. Sometimes It'll automatically reboot after even unlocking the device.
I would do another factory reset and use it for a bit without any additional apps installed. If you are fully stock and locked with this happening I would think about possibly doing an RMA. Also just and FYI make sure you have the seller of your phone call and transfer the warrenty to you so if an RMA is needed you have the ability to do so.

I will try factory and cache wipe again, and see if that does anything with no apps or anything else installed, and go from there.

Sorry its happening. With everything stock and no third party apps or mods there to cause it at least to me things start looking like something bigger might be wrong here.

I think so too. No go after another factory wipe/cache wipe. It reboots automatically after awhile. I haven't had this kind of issue before, so I'm not sure what is causing it.

I figured it would be a sim card issue since it was working for awhile without the sim, but I did the factory/cache thing without the sim card, signed on via wifi, but it still doesn't work. So I am seeing what my options are from here. Thanks for all the tips everyone.

For some reason I wasnt thinking of this earlier. Can you capture a logcat from the device after a reboot and post that here. Should help track down the problem.

I was going to try and do that earlier. I will try and do that now, but I can't even get past the bootscreen animation at this point. The 4 dots will do the animation, freeze, and just reboot.
I'll keep trying. But, I really think this is just a defective one. I had a white Nexus 5 a few weeks ago and didn't have any of these issues :crying:
Edit: My last restart the phone kept vibrating like crazy before restarting.

Honestly it sounds like it's hardware related and time for RMA. OP If you do have ADB set up grab the last_kmsg right after the reboot.
Code:
adb pull /proc/last_kmsg
I doubt it will show any kernel panic but it's worth a shot.

Just saw that. OP by your earlier symptoms I rules out a stuck power button. With the new info I'd look into it further. If the phone is just looping over and over it could be a stuck power button, Mash the power button repeatedly for a minute. Then try and reboot. A few other people have had this on the N5 already and it's a notorious issue on some Samsung phones.

If it comes to that, how do I go about transferring the warranty over?
I feel really bad, I just don't get it. I bought two of them, the other buyer hasn't had any problems. Both brand new, sealed, in the box. Go figure.

Bricked....Over joyed

Well I was having a blast with my phone. Had it rooted and had a custom recovery installed (i believe this was my down fall). messed with the phone all day yesterday. Rebooted it several times after root and recovery installed, then went to bed. Got up and it had downloaded an OTA (assuming it was the KK) ignored the notification that it wanted a reboot. It rebooted anyways and boom....no more boot. It flashes the LG logo for a split second and thats it. Will not go into download mode. Cannot connect via ADB which also means the LGFlashTool won't work.
If anyone has any suggestions or magic powers to revive this it would be MUCH appreciated otherwise I guess I'm either sending off to LG or MobileTechVideos... haven't decided which. But figured I'd see if someone has anything that I haven't already tried....
also got it to the factory reset option and pressed enter, it said it was resetting it but..... still no go..

well if you have titanium backup pro you can freeze the software update app(in d800 its an app called software update) or you can just uninstall the app using a root browser, go to sytem/app its called lgdmsclient.apk/odex and the lgfota.apk/odex just rename them to lgdmsclient.apk.bak, the odex file lgdmsclient.odex.bak, lgfota.aok.bak and lgfota.odex/bak then reboot and you shouldn't have any more update problems(the reason for renaming to .bak is so that they cant be used but at the same time you have them backed up)

[ROM][Android][Stock] Alcatel One Touch Fierce XL 5054

Instead of being split in different posts in a really large and broad topic about this phone, I decided to create a new topic to share the stock roms I recently uploaded.
They have been untouched: they all are large exe files (~1 gb) which unpack and automatically launch the flashing software.
I have no more information about these files: everything written here is all I have. They come from a trusted source.
In the previous topic, at least 2 persons reported successes unbricking their phone with these files.
If these files save your phone, don't forget to thank this post. You can also donate using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/donatetome.php?u=269273

Brilliant!!
Great to see another thread created. I was thinking of asking someone to do this and make this one the dev section and link to the other thread for general discussion.
EDIT: Are you going to explain certain things like "With SML"? It could help some .
Excellent, hooray

I would love to tell you Unfortunately, it's an information I don't have
I was thinking about SiMLock but I don't think a ROM can alter the SIM lock status of a phone. It may be related to SIM lock anyway...
I was also thinking of Qualcomm Snapdragon Math Libraries...
I will probably upload a Windows Mobile 10 FFU file soon.
SML might be a reference to Standard ML, a functional programming language that excels at pattern matching.

You can do that yourself using the "emmcdl.exe" program and the corresponding Firehose flasher (for your phone, it should be "prog_emmc_firehose_8909_lite.mbn"). You also need ROM files: rawprogram0.xml, patch0.xml and all the needed MBN files.

Maybe related to this - I have activated the "Developer Mode" on mine (multiple tapping on "About Phone") and I saw an option that is new to me: "Enable OEM unlock - Allow the boot loader to be unlocked". It was OFF by default, I turned it on.
Also on rooted phones the "System Updates" won't work anymore: "It was detected that your device has ROOT access. Upgrade is disabled". Hmmm... "Hide my Root"?
Tried and it stops at 2% and after a while I get this prompt?
COM0->PC[2] Search Disk over time! Please check the handset or driver! (Error code = 40011)
How do I know I have the correct driver for this tool to work? Have in mind that I have messed around with qualcomm drivers on this win8 laptop...
Any chance for some details/instructions so we all get there smoothly
Thanks!

We've been through this basics early in the original thread and nooo, to enable OEM unlock does NOT help us to unlock the bootloader
And if you have faith in MetroPCS regarding a System Update, then you just unroot in the Kingroot app...

The drivers are part of the program. In the "Option" menu, there is an "Install & Uninstall Driver" option.
If you launch the program and if you don't close it, the drivers files are also present in a "usb_driver" subfolder of the folder where the program extracted itself (look at your "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming" folder).
You may want to use the "Device Manager" to uninstall all the drivers related to Qualcomm. You can also view hidden devices by checking "show hidden devices" under the "View" menu.
In the other thread, few people reported successes so they maybe able to tell you how they did that.

Wish it was a universal standard to include an "uninstall all conflicting drivers" when installing a new driver. Been there so many times, puuh
Here we go again
Thanks for quick response
Ok, I'm now 99.99% sure the "SML" mention refers to SIM lock. The "file" mention in the folder name is also related to the unlock/lock phone: it actually refers to the MBN file of the security partition. Unfortunately, I don't know what "change"/"unchange" mean.
Indeed, on this phone, there is a small security partition (~700kb) which contains the SIM lock status. Unlock software like SigmaKey use this partition to unlock the phone.
Can you check the before/after status of the SIM lock after you flash one of these ROMs?

What Mode Do You Put Your Phone In For This To Work?
Here we go, it worked at last
I used USB-Deview to see everything that happened when connecting my phone to the laptop. A good software to delete unwanted drivers. I had to restart my laptop AND my phone. Restart my phone might be the wrong words though, but when you have the Alcatel Upgrade software open and connect the phone and start the process, the phone switch from turned off (and charging) to qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 mode (which you already mentioned) and to get out of this mode on the softbricked phone, you have to get into the built in recovery and from there, turn off the phone for a fresh start again. I had to do this a couple of times before it worked.
And now I'm not afraid to experiment again, wiiipppiiihoooaaah
Thanks a lot TristanLeBoss

If you refer to flashing the system, you leave the phone turned off, and if your computer is free from conflicting USB drivers, it will work (sooner or later)
I am so glad this phone is out of its shell, thank you guys.

<br>
I was able to use the stock unlock app on the phone to perform a sim unlock. I'm now using the Metro phone on my Tmobile plan.
was looking online for TWRP or CWM for this device and found the previous thread.
Let me know if you need any help, I'm down for testing.
I got this device for free from a friend, because his dad couldn't remember his gmail account, and did a factory reset.
He got stuck on the google FRP setup wizard.
I was able to use the keyboard swipe gesture (from swipe key, to the "s" when you have a word highlighted) to search for metroweb and open a browser. from there it was easy to install "quick shortcut maker" and enter the settings. I went to the manage app settings and cleared the data for settings, then I went to the backup account section and added my gmail as a backup account. Rebooted the phone and now I'm here looking for Custom recovery lol..
I'm not scared of a brick. I've had this phone for two weeks as a brick in FRP mode.
I thought I would share how I got past FRP mode.

No data using unlocked AT&T Samsung S7- HELP

My apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere, if so please just point me where to go...
Last week we switched to T-Mobile from AT&T. I had AT&T unlock all 4 of our phones. That was done successfully.
So my wife starts using her S7 and she can make calls and text just fine, but she calls from work saying she has no data. Hmm. So I call tech support. They have me change Access Point info several times, but still no luck. Tech guy "escalates" things to "Engineering" but we haven't heard boo from them.
I was tinkering with the phone and recall Airplane mode can sometimes kickstart data issues, sure enough, if I turn Airplane Mode on, then off, I get full 4G LTE signal and we can surf. But the minute I reboot the phone, we lose data connection until I do the airplane trick.
Note that all of our other phones have no issues like this, and yes, tech says all phones show having full access to data.
So has anyone had this issue and successfully fixed it? If so how? It's driving us crazy.
Thanks in advance.

Ok it's actually easier to give you instructions on the main thread but first I need you to make sure you have access to a computer unless you are actually using xda so assuming you are near your computer when you have time back up your wife's phone with smart switch, here is a download link http://www.samsung.com/us/assets/Smart_Switch_pc_setup.exe
Matter of fact I got a call from T-Mobile telling me to try to "flash the software" and use the Smart Switch to back things up. I downloaded the Smart Switch for PC but when I tried to open it, it wouldn't install, gave me some weird error message.
So once I get the phone backed up, can you point me to how to flash the T-Mobile software? I'm crossing my fingers this is fairly easy since I'm not much of a tech when it comes to deeper smartphone tweaking (ROM's this and that lol).
Thanks for your help folks. I just want a smooth running phone vs. giving T-Mobile $30 more a month for an identical phone.

I guess the big question, what are the odds that this bricks her phone?

The bootloader is locked so you can only brick your phone if you unplug it while it is flashing also you may have to use a modified Odin program so if you need it let me know
So to confirm the steps:
First backup my phone using Samsungs software via my PC then..
Download the two files you posted earlier TO MY PC.
Open Odin and get the folders situated..
Plug in the phone to the PC and set it to Download mode
Let it do it's thing..once done I should have the full T-Mobile software and no more AT&T junk?
Sound correct..if not, please fill in any missing steps.
Much appreciated.

SM-G955U1. XAA version. Bootloop problem, any help?

MY BAD, PLEASE MOVE THIS TO THE CORRECT SECTION. I'M REALLY SORRY.
Hello!, my mother bought this phone for her in the US and from day 0 it has been having problems. She couldn't use wifi or bluetooth for example, and sometimes it just kept restarting till it worked again, but without any connectivity functions, except mobile data.
I tried to fix this updating the phone using Samsung Smart Switch to the last build (AQL1) but now the phone is stuck on the boot screen no matter what I do.
Tried flashing with Odin, it worked, but the phone is still on boot loop. I read somewhere in this forum that you can install an older version of the bootloader to take the phone out of this hell and I did it, using the build AQK2 bootloader but no luck, same problem.
Also, the phone doesn't have USB debugging enable nor OEM unlock either. I can access both recovery and download mode though.
At this point I'm out of ideas, can someone help me with this one?
Thanks in advanced.

No I haven't, I will give a try soon through web chat.
I mean, this shouldn't be happening, it's a brand new phone, all over the internet are people with the same problems as me and looks like so far there is no solution.
Maybe it's a faulty phone/hardware? My knowledge is not enough in this matter.
See you!,

Thanks for answering!, here it goes:
1. It says SM-G955U1
2. Carrier: XAA
3. Done, still the same.
An update from my last post:
After a few bootloops the FRP screen showed up, as the phone can't use wifi yet I managed to access using mobile data and enabled the USB debugging, but after trying to enable wifi the phone froze and went on bootloop again, so still the same but with the USB debugging enabled. I'm currently on the build AQK2.
Thanks again, and I hope we can fix this.
Update 2:
I cleared the cache, after a few bootloops the phone actually boots (gets to the lock screen), and it restarts again while the message "Android is starting" is loading, so now it's a different type of bootloop I guess. It does the same even in safe mode.
I will turn it off for now.

I don't know how many Millions of S8 / S8+ have been sold - But your post is the first that I've ever heard of anything like this... I concur with the recommendation that you call or Chat with Samsung Technical Support - Preferably before you find the phone completely unable to Boot into Download Mode - Get Samsung to help you - or you may risk voiding the warranty if Samsung determines that you are ultimately responsible for the state of the phone ??

Thanks for answering!, sorry for my late response.
Well, if you check samsung's official forum there are a few threads with 15+ pages of people complaining about wifi issues (https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/thread-id/862/page/1 and https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/GS8QA/thread-id/30601/page/1) about bootloop problems, (https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...id/GS8QA/thread-id/3920/highlight/true/page/1) also there is a post on another webpage talking about bootloops on this model and how to fix them (https://thedroidguy.com/2017/12/sol...p-issue-s8-turns-screen-remains-black-1079013).
I know it's not representative, as you said, millions of phones has been sold, but what I meant when I said "all over the internet" is that you can easily find people with this same problem. This shouldn't be happening, not on any phone even less on such an expensive phone.
I think the phone is officially dead, I took it to a well known local technician and even him couldn't fix it. My nearest official samsung service is 1600km away. On the other hand, my aunty got for herself an S8 and it's working perfect, so it's just bad luck for my mom I guess.
The phone had issues since she bought it (wifi and bluetooth didn't worked at all, but she is not really a tech person so she thought it was fine), the phone was working with some bootloops from time to time and after a while it fell from and got a little crack on the top but it didn't change the behavior of the phone, it was still ****ed up. That's the thing, because of the crack I'm pretty sure they won't take it back or even try to fix it (for free at least), they will say the problem is because of the fall. I'd been reading a lot about this and seems that I'm pretty screwed D:
I will sell the phone for parts. At least I will recover 60% of the initial investment.

If you have some 'proof' the problem existed, before the crack, and can prove when the crack occurred, or reasonable determinate approximation, small claims court will vindicate you, and Samsung will have to pay.
Sad to say would take a little time of yours to get them there, but it is an easy process, and with reasonable ability to determine/evidence those two things, a sure win.
But still a PITA.
