Latest TWRP release known 100% working on XT926? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently I'm running version 2.6.3.0 and it works perfectly, but was wondering if there is a newer version that is known to be 100% working for our phones. I noticed they aren't directly supporting us as of 2.7.0.0 ([email protected]@rds! - lol), but that doesn't mean that a newer version isn't working.
Related question - Is there a necessity to upgrade to a newer version? I thought I read somewhere that with KitKat incoming 2.6.3.0 wasn't going to cut it anymore... not sure why that would be, but thought it was info I caught somewhere in the interwebs.
Thanks!

I've been using the 2.7.0.0 release uploaded by dhacker here:
http://androidhosting.org/Devs/Dhacker29/msm8960/
I haven't had any problems with it personally.
KitKat made some SELinux changes, and I think you need to have a sufficiently updated version for backups/installs to work properly. 2.6.3.0 _might be_ okay, but I like using the newest version just to be safe. They list some of the specific changes here if you scroll down to the changelog:

I'm really just looking for working "backup" and "restore" options, so if you say they're good to go, I'll flash that version by dhacker.
Another question - am I missing any other features in TWRP that I should be taking advantage of?
Yet another question! - if for some reason (I'm unlucky for instance) 2.7.0.0 doesn't work, I can just flash back to the version I have stored on my google drive, yes?
EDIT: Found two downloads for 2.7.0.0 on dhacker's link you posted, both listed the same except for "hdpi" and "xhdpi" at the end of each download filename... which is it for XT926 phones?
Thanks much!

Sorry, the xt926 is an xhdpi phone. Always forget to mention that.
I've used backup and restore with this version and, like I said, they were both fine on my end.
Most people won't need anything other than install/backup/restore, but the file manager can also be useful in a pinch.
If it doesn't work, then you would certainly be able to flash the previous version over it.

Not sure if you saw, he just posted probably whilst you were typing. XHDPI is for our phones. I think the HDPI is for RAZR Ms (I was looking it up on the interwebs whilst waiting for a quick response and was taken to a RAZR M thread).
Thought I'd pass on the helpful knowledge. 8)

I've also been using the latest, with zero issues. Yes, HDPI is for the M. I also flashed 2.7.0.0 on the M and it's working flawlessly.

[ATTENTION] DON'T INSTALL CMW Recovery INSTEAD USE TWRP

Don't install CMW Recovery it is not recommended for AT&T, Rogers HTC One X

Simply no reason to use CWM. People only use it, because they have used it on other devices.
Just stay away from CWM. Use TWRP.

It will work most of the time. But when it doesn't, boy you are in for some "fun" times.
Just switch to TWRP. Its a great recovery, don't be averse to it, just because its different than what you used before. In this case, the more widely known choice (CWM) is not the best one, and can give you serious problems.
Yeah.... I didn't know CWM wouldn't work on my HTC One X. I installed TWRP and everything worked fine. Since I had CWM installed, it won't affect my phone will it since I installed TWRP over it?

Its not that CWM doesn't work, per se. CWM works most of the time . . . except when it doesn't (and causes big problems).
CWM is not going to affect your phone in any way, now that you've installed TWRP. Recovery was overwritten by TWRP.

For a long time, we had only an unofficial port of CWM that was having some issues. Now, it's just a matter of taste.
Oops, my bad, hadn't been keeping up with recovery development and didn't realize CWM was official. Thanks guys.
It was posted about a month ago. People are just so used to twrp at this point that it hasn't gotten all that much attention.
we should probably remove all the download links and close the old cwm threads so when we recommend cwm people wont install the old one.

I just removed the old links for my Index thread, for what its worth. Also added a warning, not to use old CWM builds.
I see that CWM finally went official 5 days ago (I missed that somehow). Looks like they fixed USB mount, also. So I now see no reason why not to use CWM.
Really, its the users choice. TWRP 2.4.3 had some issues, but it looks like those were fixed, and in general its been a very stable and reliable recovery. Many of us know CWM as a reliable recovery as well, on other devices. So now that its official, I expect the same on the One X.

No!! The bootloader is still locked.
CyanogenMod is open and if a known dev makes a request for a branch to be made official it only needs an approval from other "official" CyanogenMod devs/board members. A review by the requested members, is all that is needed to make it an official branch.

1. hktw 4.0.4(220), bl version is 0.65, bmm version is 0.3.4
2. hktw 4.1.2(404), bl version is 0.65, bmm version is 0.3.4

apparently we are starting again. taking post #2
so, this thread is apparently just for my builds. since i already made it clear that i am not committed to actively working on the d2vzw, I'm assuming its to force the other devs into making their own threads for their roms.
quick faq:
I will probably keep building these for a while to keep people satisfied until cm releases official nightlies. no promises though
my builds will be given to cammykool, untested for him to post. I do not own a d2vzw, and cannot afford to go buy one. buy me one, and I'll be able to test and fix things.
my builds will almost always be only cm code, what they have pushed to github and fixes waiting to be merged. I don't feel like fixing bugs myself. the devs that actually own this device can do that, and I'll merge it into my builds as needed.
cammy wants me to push out new builds on a weekly basis. i have no idea why he likes my builds so much, but i can handle weekly or more frequent experimental untested builds

SD card was also still broken for me (I'm thinking it might just be my SD card at this point, I'm gonna try out another one), but everything else seemed to work fine.
I thought in the other thread I saw something about CM11 not flashing with TWRP... confirm/deny with this build?
This rom really needed this fresh new start Also, what is different from this build in the op and the 2013-11-13-unofficial by sspencer? Anything fixed in it that isnt in the sspencer build? Thanks
Gonna need a lot more clarity in the OP or else this thread will be exactly the same as the last one. I'll start by adding instructions:
THESE BUILDS ARE NOT 100% OPERATIONAL.
-They boot, I flashed it last night and everything worked for me (front camera, SD card, WiFi..etc) browser FC'd on me once but that might have been something else.
-You will probably get 2 galleries, not sure why or which one to disable, I didn't get that far.
Flash instructions:
-YOU MUST USE CWM, TWRP IS BROKEN
-Factory reset
-Wipe Dalvik / Cache
-Wipe system
-Wipe Data
-Flash ROM
-Boot up, let it sit for a minute
-Reboot recovery and flash the GAPPs in OP
-Reboot and sign in
-Profit.
These were pretty much the instructions last night, and the ones I followed and everything worked fine for me.

I literally just flashed back to 4.3.1 but I ran this build for the past 3 days including the version from yesterday and today. It is seriously close to being able to be used as a DD. TVall, it seems like you are developing this until CM releases so I thought I'd say what wasn't working for me. I did not have the SD card problem but i know many do. I did have these things not working...
1. Certain apps would not reinstall from the Play Store. When I tried it said USB Storage not found
2. When launching Google+ it says network not found retry. I can view Facebook and other apps that have to get on network just fine.
3. Unable to connect to XDA using tapatalk, although I'm not sure that one is rom related as I am now back on 4.3.1 and it is still hit or miss.
4. Overall seems kinda sluggish and i'm sure that will get ironed out as the rom gets more polished. I don't necessarily mean the OS is sluggish but apps are and opening apps takes a little longer
I will probably flash back later or tomorrow as I already miss the launcher but nothing too serious here for me. Like I said it is extremely close to DD status right now and I really liked the ROM and appreciate all of your hard work.
All in all seemed OK expect WiFi and SD card issue, that's the only things I noticed. And (beepea206) yes that is true about the not flashing it with TWRP.

Download link not working
The download link for the ROM reads this when clicked:
"The file you are trying to download is no longer available.
This could be due to the following reasons:
The file has been removed because of a ToS/AUP violation.
Invalid URL - the link you are trying to access does not exist
The file has been deleted by the user."
I'm running the 4.4 from the older post before this one and would really like to update considering the front camera currently doesn't work on my ROM and may fix a few things. I've the link on multiple browsers and even installed the mega extension and it still doesn't work. Could you reupload?

i like this rom only had a few problems but after a reboot seams to be working good again
I have the weirdest thing happening. I'm on stable 7 and have been for quite a while. It's worked perfectly until a couple days ago and now I can't send text messages out. I think I can receive OK. Just can't send out. I've even tried doing a clean install of this and other ROMs with same result. It gets more odd... After toying with it I can send only one text out. Just one to any person. But I can't send another unless I reboot or I think wait a few hours. Upon reboot I again can send only one text message out. And so on. I have no clue what could be happening. Any ideas?

What kernel and baseband is recommended to use with this Rom? I haven't used my s3 in awhile and just want to make sure I get it right... Right now I'm on cleanrom 4.5 which is 4.1.1 and on baseband vrblk3.. I did install the latest twrp already.. Thank you in advance and sorry if this was asked and answered already

Stock kernel and VRBMF1 firmware is the bassline recommendation. TWRP 2.7 at least, newest TWRP 2.8 works fine as well.

Thank you much[emoji2]
I was able to locate the firmware and had a tough time finding the stock kernel as many links for many things are no longer good... I downloaded what I thought was the "stock kernel v2" however when I try to flash after flashing the firmware in twrp I get a failed message "unable to open zip file".. Any thoughts, thank you in adv. Have twrp 2.8.0.1 btw and flashed MF1 firmware....

Noooooo haha stock kernel as in the kernel built-in the rom. All you need to flash is SlimKat and gapps then boot.

That's my bad on the ambiguity! Haha glad you've got it all set up. Just to clarify, every rom comes with a boot.img which is what becomes the kernel. Custom kernels are slightly different.

GPS issue with latest nightly
Just an FYI, I tried the latest nightly and got zero GPS fix, even with a clean flash. I went back to the latest stable build (also a clean flash) and everything's cool with that, except for my inability to view pics within Gmail. :/
Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot
Hi, I just loaded up Slimkat 4.4.4 with the stock kernel on my Verizon Galaxy S3. I used to use the Wifi Tether TrevE Mod with my previous version and that worked, however, this does not appear to work in this rom. I noticed there was a built in Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, which does work perfectly. I would like to use this but am just concerned that somehow VZ would know I am tethering and I would incur additional charges. Do I have anything to worry about or am I just being paranoid?
Thank you for a GREAT product, it's a spectacular rom.

Google Play Services not Installed
Just did a dirty flash of 9 stable over 7 stable flashed the latest gapps, and now the Google play store does not work and a bunch of apps are requesting the install of Google Play Services.
Any tips?

You could try clearing data for the Play Store. I always encourage a clean flash (wipe data and system) before each new release.

Any updates on that "further notice"?
