Trying to continue kernel development for the SM-T210R based on the marvell PXA988.
This kernel is based on the Android 4.2.2 Rom Ported from the SM-T110 Galaxy Tab Lite.
My goals:
Find bugs in the OP and resolve them
Bluetooth HID Support
Right Speaker Fix
Original Kernel:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439564
Github Sources:http://github.com/ajws7036
I'll be putting the Tests up here.. Just install like you would through TWRP or CWM.
Guys, I switched back to 4.1.2 For the duration of school most likely.. I'll do what I can on weekends and whenever I can use my laptop. But I know for a fact that my SM-T210R likes 4.2.2 a heck of a lot better than 4.1.2.. There's a HUGE speed difference. I switched back to 4.2.2, speed was my dealbreaker.
Status as of 4/21: No boot. I tried a test, a flop really, and nothing booted. Ill keep trucking.

Development is going slow as I keep running into errors, however I will continue and aim at having something working by the end of the week.
Errors continue as the kernel appears to just make an "image" file as output. Work will continue, but i'll be switching computers. Also, there's school.. So I'll work hard as i can on the weekends

What kind of output are you expecting? It is supposed to output a zImage. That is the actual kernel portion of the boot.img. You have to combine it with the ramdisk to make the full boot.img.
ps. Don't forget the modules.

Okay I can confirm the that the 3 builds fuss, mine and yours are giving the exactly same kernel logs.
And I get get Linux 2.6.x ZSLE6 in the logs with your build too(but only with ardatdat kernel 4.0). Maybe he didn't change it or something. Dont know.
Here are the logs from the two kernels - the one in your build and ardatdat's
Adam, while you are here could you please have a look. I don't understand much in there
----------------EDIT-----------------------
Does it have something to do with the touch? One gives backlight warning. Other keeps calibrating and we see all the key press release and all. Have no clue. Just a wild guess. Maybe you or Ardatdat can tell.

I guess you are right buddy. Reading the MIUI patchrom documentations it looks like a cakewalk.
But once you start build you get all the issues. The patchrom documentation just says it will extract rom out of your mobile and build MIUI on it. If only it were that simple
I didn't notice anything extraordinary in the last_kmsg with ardatdat's kernel. Nevertheless, I don't understand why it's showing 2.6 as version. I'll take a deeper look into it tomorrow.

@Bhargav: Thanks Buddy but I have already attached the logs from two kernels in one of above posts. Anyways to get those you need restart and go into recovery(CWM). Then you do 'adb pull /proc/last_kmsg'
@All: Guys, I think I know what the problem is. We have all been using some other phone's code base for the development and it doesn't work that way. Not with our phone atleast.
Last night I was building it from scratch, solving errors when they appered and with a almost clean makefile. It is then I realized - we missing framework-res.apk/res/values folders in our ICS. The patchrom just needs it. I couldn't find a workaround. So I replaced only the framework-res folder from i9100.
Why I write all this long text - The result it booted. The button backlight comes on. I get the vibration, one we get just before launcher comes on. But then it couln't render the screen. The samsung screen disappears after a while and I get just the black screen with no launcher initialized.
Now the strange part is I still don't get adb to work. So no logcats. I think there is some other issue with adb not working.
But the phone definitely boots now. And the reason it cannot render the screen could be because framework-res contains all drawables and resolution related files.
So to cut the long story short - can any of our devs see why we don't have framework-res.apk/res/values folder in ICS when all other phones including samsung ones seem to have it on ICS( I'll double check with their stock codes but patchrom codes have it). It appears like ours is a different structure for framework-res.apk.
And guys, I see the last 3 post are from my Indian friends(my guess). Guys what were you doing up so early on a Sunday morning. Didn't have a Saturday night blast
----EDIT----
Damn!! This post is big. I am sorry guys but I just thought I should share my findings

Please keep in mind this is offered as a free alternative to the paid kernel configuration apps. This application is not being developed for profit and should not be evaluated as a replacement for current paid alternatives.
Issues should be reported by clicking the "View Website" link in the "Developer" section of "Additional Information" and not through reviews.
Please allow 24 - 48 hours after an issue has been reported. The reviews should not be used as a method to coerce faster updates via 1-star ratings.
StarKissed is meant to provide easy access to the kernel options that many apps will empty your pockets to configure without the need for remembering which application went with which kernel or having to shell out a lot of money before you can get your device running properly.
The application is provided free, but all donations are appreciated. Donations fund development, allow this project to expand, and compensate the developer. If you would like to donate, please click the green dollar guy on the top right. Donations will unlock additional features, such as kernel backup / restore.
If a kernel developer asks for a logcat, they can be exported using the Catlog tab. If the kernel developer is looking for a last_kmsg, clicking the tab will save a copy to the sdcard under the folder StarKissed/logcat
This application contains configuration options, kernel settings, scripts, and various other common and rare modifications that have been designed for almost every Android device and ROM. While the available features are extensive, not every device and every ROM will ALWAYS work. There are available options to submit your device, kernel, and ROM profile to help extend these items to you.

No, it's the lag in Goo's servers. I pushed a version that was missing a variable, realized it, and pushed a new one about 5 minutes later. Sadly you will see an hour delay between the two versions. That is also why there is a new option in settings for "download betas" which pulls from my server, but there will be untested changes. The fixed version is attached (also a good point to revert if it happens again, since the server will just send you new updates anyway)

Did some work on the look of things, now I'm going to convert an old github script I have for generating changelogs into a native display so it'll be easier to follow. Once a logcat hits for the crash that will be fixed as well.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You probably won't need to post a logcat. I found an issue where grabbing todays date wasn't being fully converted to a number and causing a format error. The reason it only seemed to happen to some is that it only gets the date for the very first run. Anywho, Goo takes years to publish, so a fix is attached to this post.
Alright, i've pushed out the last update for the day. The startup issue should be resolved. Now tested and working on HTC devices. Color and voltage panels were cleaned up. Webviews optimized. The new changelog display is in place but needs some work. Vibration limits were removed if your kernel supports a larger range. And I think that does it for the last two hours...

Yesterday the guys at Canonical launched Ubuntu Touch for Phablet's and released pre-built images for the Nexus line of phones.
Today the porting guide for other devices is out : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
And it bring great news for anyone that is looking to run Ubuntu Touch on their device as it is based around Cyanogen Mod 10.1 .
Any devices supported by CM 10.1 should be able to run UT with relative ease.
I went over the guide and they used the Galaxy Tab 2 as an example of such a port.
From what I can see it is Android without the Java bits , Ubuntu itself runs on-top of the Android framework within a container. It's similar to how we ran till now Linux disto's on-top of Android but instead off using VNC to get access to an emulated X server Ubuntu uses Surface Flinger as it's display server.
And it's been ported to the Galaxy S3 : http://rootzwiki.com/topic/39299-romwip-ubuntu-touch-on-d2vzw-dev-previewphantom-022213/
Im building it as of now. But am stuck at the new device config part. if any dev could help out, it would be appriciated.
Can you give more details on where exactly are you stuck.

I'm ready to test now. Will find out!
SGH-I727 Peace
It is compiled from official cm-10.2 sources
So, I assume it is safe, just as stock CWM can be
It flashed fine and seems to accept regular backups. The interface is sweet looking. I like it. Way better than the previous bare bones one, as far as looks go. As soon as I find a new ROM to flash I'll give it whirl. Good job dude.

Thank you very much! Im having no issuses. Although i dont see a "fix permissions". Is that no longer needed?
Works good! Backed up current 4.3.1 rom then restored old backup of a 4.3.1 rom. Have not tried to flash or restore 4.4 yet. Thanks!!

I'm a bit leery of the fact that it is based on 10.2 sources. I'm on 11.0, and while CWM 6.0.3.7 is very painful to use from a UI perspective, it has always worked, so I don't want to mess with my partitions unless I know it supports 4.4.

cm-10.2 recoveries are way more stable than yet experimental cm11 branch
You can wait next year when cm-11 recoveries are fully stable, but then you'll even have to wait for cm12 :cyclops:
Chopsticks gave a specific recovery for 4.3 and 4.4, risk ain't worth it in my book. Anyway nice job seems cool.

This is my point. Will PhilZ recovery properly write partitions? Specifically /data, as I believe that is the problematic one due to SELinux.

1- Read the few pages of the thread
2- This is based on celox, and all celox based devices I support do work perfectly
3- Either test and report or watch the thread and wait without cluttering it with useless comments
4- Ask in FAQ if you are impatient to wait for others to test it for you
Sorry, monitoring +70 threads for support/feedback. If I have to refresh them all just for useless comments, I am wasting my time

Nope, does nothing. That's a relic from the gingerbread era.

I'll make our position clear on that statement. We recommend a specific recovery so that we can rule out certain items when debugging issues, that is all. We are not making a recommendation based on "what is the best recovery available", it is a consistency decision that helps us when issues arise related to the file system, flashing, etc.
@Phil3759 - thanks for building this for the skyrocket.
I installed the new cm11 nightly with 0 problems. Went just like it should. Just FYI
