Great news!
sent from Nexus 5

good idea

I spent a lot of time for searching everywhere to find the way to mod the Imaged Battery. I hope that dev will release a guide to mod this :good:

I must be missing something, but aren't there various Xposed modules that can do this? Gravitybox, Wanam etc?

I'm on 4.4.2 and can change my battery icon, either using Gravity box of the statusbar settings within Purity itself.
XBlast Tools module can do it too.
I guess the problem with Xposed is if you want to use ART.

I dont understand what you are talking about. You cant theme the stock battery icon in KK. Even Theme engine or xposed couldnt do that so far.
Only you can get that Ring style battery or the stock one and not like earlier android versions.
"The battery signal of statusbar on KitKat Firmware is not images but coded one.
That is one of Google's operations in Android 4.4, but make difficulties with theming or customising.
So I modified it back to images to be possible for the methods that you have used on Android 4.3"

Mods for Stock, Rooted Phone

I am wondering if anyone knows what mods to use on stock rooted firmware to allow changing the battery icon and mod the clock for color, position etc. These are really the only changes I make to a phone after installing a custom rom. I also like the fact that custom roms have the bloatware removed. I can live with out using a custom rom if I can make the simple changes like. Thanks.

HTC Sense StatusBar Icons for N5?

Ah, I know, I might get killed, but is there a way to get HTC Sense StatusBar Icons (network, wlan, battery) to the N5? I liked them a lot on my HTC devices and miss them now.

There is a way, but it would look really weird with the other parts of stock android. All you have to do is decompile the HTC systemui.apk and the N5 apk, then swap all the status bar PNGs.

But he didn't state what ROM he had. He only asked how he could get sense icons.
Hey, thanks everybody for the suggestions. I'm running stock 4.4.2 and want to stay there. Xposed and Gravity serves all my modding needs. I will have a look to ex-themer. Another launcher is no option though. My N5 runs so stable and smooth (far far better than my previous HTCs with multiple custom roms). Maybe I really should extract the icons from the UI app. Only question is what happens with scaling.

Nothing happens because both phones are XXHDPI. You have to get the images from the HTC One or another HTC phone with a 1080p screen. You should try it, but make a backup so if it doesn't work you don't have to flash the entire factory image.

(Req) since xposed is now useless...

I figured the knowledgeable people here could point me to apps (that require root or not) that do things that xposed used to do but now can't:
•Slide on notification bar for brightness (not an actual slider just able to slide)
•lockscreen app targets
•edit quick toggles in any way shape or form
•edit nav bar height
•change recents button into a menu button and remove three dot menus
•advanced power menu options
any info is appreciated!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I wouldn't say it's useless. The developer has stated if he can find a way to bring it to Lollipop, that he will. Rather it's just unusable for now.
Sent from my Nexus 5 on Lollipop 5.0
Lollipop just came out.
Its going to take time to get get custom roms and features rolling
Users need to stop with the [Request] threads. You want something bad enough, learn to dev and make it happen. MOD EDITED - BE RESPECTFUL!!!
Most of the things you mentioned have to be a system modification not an app. Check out the lollipop custom ROMs, some of them have a few of the features you desire. It might be a few months to get Xposed working if possible even. You could always revert to 4.4.4 too.

Perhaps you can share the apps you found so far? Im following your thread bro.
Xposed is just so good, it became a must in my phone. I want so many features from it and its modules too
I search for xposed at least 3 times per day and i didnt find any useful information but a reply of rov89 a month ago saying it was going to be hard to merge xposed to lollipop because of new ART runtime. So i find this post very useful as we can share temporary patches until xposed is released for lollipop.
* Intelli3G: Your internet is set to EDGE while phone is locked, but when you unlock it you get 3G/4G (until you lock)
* Lots of gravitybox features:
-change battery icon and clock position in the info bar ( percentage + circle battery!)
-flash activated when you pulse the lockscreen for 3secs (stupid ye but very useful for me)
* Burnt toast: that was so cool (show app icon in toast--> superSU permissions)
*App settings: so i can put safari in immersive mode
Cant remember more at the moment but if you know any app with similar features post them here please
For battery percent:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
On Lollipop the percentage is visible even with full battery.
You know if Xposed doesn't come back I am kinda okay with it. Towards the end of Kitkat it seemed like any really useful app that came out needed Xposed to run. It was like as if app creators ran straight towards Xposed instead of using different methods. I know for some things you needed to be able to hack further than root allows but I would guess that a few Xposed modules could have achieved the same result through different means. I'm probably wrong though.
As well intentioned as this thread was, it still got almost completely derailed... Shame.
One feature I'm looking forward to is customizing the slides on Lock screen.
Dialer and camera shortcuts are great but I am so spoiled now.

Is there any way to theme icons without a launcher? As far as I know, no launchers support Google Now (which I really like having as a screen), which is, unfortunately, my biggest deterrent. While devs adjust to the finer points of ART, I really, really miss my icons. ;_;

changing battery icon color?

Heya fellas, got me a moto x 2013 running cyanogenmod 12, is there a way to change JUST the battery icons color in the status bar? I would like to change it from default white to green, yes I am aware of the many themes but believe it or not I cannot afford "$1". Also yeah I have tried googling this.

I did it to my device by modding a few files in /system/framework/framework-res.apk. I am not running CM, but it should work fine on your Moto X with CM12.

You won't be putting your phone at risk if you've got ClockworkMod installed and you make a fresh Nandroid backup before each "risky" procedure. Trust me, this is how I do it all the time, and even when I get a bootloop, restoring the Nandroid backup is a sure fix.

Magisk Mod to enable AOD, and Change Accent Color

Hey folks i ported some features from aosp GSI's that will now work on our phone's stock rom. All you have to do is flash this mod in magisk and voila, you have working aod, and the ability to change your accent colors to whatever color you like. There are also some build prop edits i have been testing that indeed help your stock experience. Huge thanks to @aer0zer0 for wrapping this all up in a sweet package a la magisk mod. I was just gunna post it up and tell you all to copy it to here and copy it to there... He has the polish...thanks man! With average use using aod with the elite kernel only cut down my sot from 7hrs to about 4.. stock kernel was a little worse but not by much.
Few things...
Always make a backup first .
Yes, u must be rooted,
Lets not get silly here.
Yes, it works on straight stock.

You are welcome, and i have some more cool stuff coming as well in the coming weeks.. I was going to release it as a rom/port but the gsi is still too unstable. Here is what is coming next:
3 finger gesture screenshot mod
a better native dark theme for settings and eventually notifications too
Nav bar goodies
I had little success in activating some dormant features within the system UI, due to the recompilation not wanting to play well with pie, but i did find quite a few cool things that we will be able to utilize once i find an updated apk tool that actually works. I always can decompile it fine but the recompilation messes up.. i may just build us a modded stock rom from source as its much easier to cherry pick or modify the existing source then bust up apks and put em back together...

Also, for those of you that want to permanently enable the system UI tuner. (Need root, but if your flashing magisk mods, you have root).
Get a terminal app, like material terminal. Copy and paste each command in and press enter.
adb shell su -c pm enable com.android.systemui/.tuner.TunerActivity
adb shell am start com.android.systemui/.tuner.TunerActivity
This will enable stock system tuner.

I like the cataclysm idea..im just used to building roms. My shamu builds are still popular..on build prop, one improves the dark mode, one allows any pictures including use from google photos to be used as wallpaper without downloading. Another one enables fast reboot..drops a reboot from 28seconds or so to 14 i think...so half the time.. and one is scrolling fix...i forget what else..

Fast reboot has to do with power off...
My HTC Vivid had this... And in order to get to fastboot or recovery... As the device was shipped... You had to pull the battery... Otherwise when you powered the device on it immediately went to the desktop... Kinda like the power off standby in Windows...
This mod seems to disable my fingerprint sensor when it's enabled. It just won't let me open the lock screen with it, and it removes the entry from settings.
