Ah, I know, I might get killed, but is there a way to get HTC Sense StatusBar Icons (network, wlan, battery) to the N5? I liked them a lot on my HTC devices and miss them now.

There is a way, but it would look really weird with the other parts of stock android. All you have to do is decompile the HTC systemui.apk and the N5 apk, then swap all the status bar PNGs.

Hi,
And you need a rom with Theme Chooser, maybe the OP don't want to flash a rom like CM..., for sure it will be more difficult.

But he didn't state what ROM he had. He only asked how he could get sense icons.
Hey, thanks everybody for the suggestions. I'm running stock 4.4.2 and want to stay there. Xposed and Gravity serves all my modding needs. I will have a look to ex-themer. Another launcher is no option though. My N5 runs so stable and smooth (far far better than my previous HTCs with multiple custom roms). Maybe I really should extract the icons from the UI app. Only question is what happens with scaling.

Nothing happens because both phones are XXHDPI. You have to get the images from the HTC One or another HTC phone with a 1080p screen. You should try it, but make a backup so if it doesn't work you don't have to flash the entire factory image.

Firstly, each to there own, but I'm not a fan of the MIUI rom, I've tried a few builds but its just too much like an iphone layout for me.
However there was one part I really liked & that was the power control functions in the pull down status bar: Wi-Fi, 3G, Vibrate, Silent, Bluetooth etc. like you would get on a widget.
Having them on the status bar was a great idea.
I know certain roms like espresso have it on, but was wondering if anyone knew of an app that can do the same?
I have so far found apps in the market that can do calendar or Wi-Fi, but nothing that can do everything.
Any ideas?

Aah okay, that'll explain why I haven't seen them lol. Thanks
Thanks, but I'm getting tired of flashing new roms now, I'm back on stock at the moment, just thought someone may of known of an app, doesn't even have to be as fancy as MIUI just put an option in the notification bar.
Maybe I'll look at the 4G rom when it's a full stable release...

Im thinking there could be a way to do that using Tasker (since you can do most things with it). Something to set a notification that if you click it can define an event or something of the sort. If you have zero programming knowledge whatsoever then Tasker might be a little difficult for you though.

launcher pro is the best launcher ever, it can be exactly like vanillia android but is 1000x more customizable and powerful and free
.... did I mention it is free?
I guess I did
Though it's free there's a paid version (launcher pro plus) with more features. The most useful feature in the paid version must be resizing widgets ;-)

I am also looking for this, I have tried Launcher Pro/ADW and lots of Gingerbread themes etc but I am always left with SE icons and not stock.
Anyone know the best way to get stock icons? (rooted and bootloader unlocked)

ohhhh.... yea nothing is going to help you with that except custom roms or some serious surgury of the apk's in /system and you don't want to mess with that I promise you.
there are some apps to change the icon link on your home screen, but in the app drawer it will still show the old icon. Not sure anyone is going to help you with that less a custom rom be involved

I am wondering if anyone knows what mods to use on stock rooted firmware to allow changing the battery icon and mod the clock for color, position etc. These are really the only changes I make to a phone after installing a custom rom. I also like the fact that custom roms have the bloatware removed. I can live with out using a custom rom if I can make the simple changes like. Thanks.

Fire it up and swipe over to the Interface page, and tap the Statusbar Icons button. Enjoy.
This ROM is meant to be the slimmest ROM possible built on top of Sense. I've tried to strip out everything that isn't needed to reduce it down to the minimum amount. I've also made it a mix between GE/AOSP and Sense. To help get maximum battery (and better looks imo) I've swapped the SystemUI.apk out to tyler's GE on Sense SystemUI.apk.
I'm also trying to set it up so both GE and Sense apps can be used and you can choose which you want.
Every app which works on the stock HTC one firmware works fine here.
Currently as the ROM stands it is:
Under 400MB (it's about 380MB).
Uses Trebuchet launcher from CM
Stripped out a bunch of Sense/HTC Bloatware (pretty much anything i found non-essential)
Uses AOSP Lockscreen (auto unlocks for calls, allows widgets)
Has both HTC Camera/Gallery and GE Camera/Gallery
Has both HTC Clock and GE Clock
The only google app installed by default is the playstore, as the rest can be downloaded from it
Known Bugs
After completing the Setup you need to open settings -> click mobile data -> Access Point Names-> and then select your APN
3G/LTE/4G Icons do not show, you still get LTE (you may need to download an App from playstore to enable LTE, any that let you access the phone settings should work such as this one)
Only the GE Phone Works (It makes and receives calls fine)Sense Phone can't place calls (the app fully functions but doesn't make calls, need to find a way to fix this still, if anyone knows how to please let me know)
Currently battery percentage in the status bar isn't working
Feel free to ask any quests/indicate any bugs and i'll try looking into them when I get time.
Version 1.1 Fixed the bug where when incoming calls were answered nobody could be heard

To hide duplicate the icon from your app drawer, open the drawer, click the menu overflow, click trebuchet settings, click drawer, and then click hide apps. The duplicates exist to give a choice between Sense and GE versions

Going to load this up over the weekend. Any chance of working in the CM10 theming framework at some point or is that not possible when based on Sense?

Xtheme Engine themes work with GE
This is exactly what i do with any Sense ROM i install anyway. I go to Titanium backup and spend a half hour uninstalling all the crap thats not needed to strip it right down so that the only things left that HTC stuff are the IR blaster since i lost the remote to my TV, and the camera functionality. I always use the codex sound mod instead of beats anyhow too. This awesome! Perfect!
Does it use stock kernel?
Been running for a day now and haven't found anything wrong with this. Works great. Will run a little longer to report on battery life. So far I'm enjoying the experience. If we could just get everything in the status bar working that'll be great. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Flashed this 5 min ago, did a test call to my girlfriend's phone, it was ringing.
But yeah, I think I finally might have found the Rom I'm sticking with. Excellent work.
If I can make one possible request for the future. GE MMS instead of sense. ?

Edit; it does have the aosp bug where you can't hear the caller after you answer, so you have to call back.

You can;t make calls from the Sense Dialer. You need to use the GE one which is included.

Ugh.. I was super hyped about this ROM until I read this. I have too many people call me and this wouldn't be cool at all.
There is no known fix for this? I cant imagine everyone using CM would be cool with this issue.
Need to keep this alive.
Anyone else confirm the call bug? So the sense dialer doesn't work.. i could care less about that. Just as long as the GE dialer is there and takes calls.
Some one manage to turn kitkat battery back into icons by modding system ui, i bet a lot of us here would love to have this. i will even donate for this asap thankyou to whomever takes the challenge i tried my self but just couldnt get it right

I'm on 4.4.2 and can change my battery icon, either using Gravity box of the statusbar settings within Purity itself.
XBlast Tools module can do it too.
I guess the problem with Xposed is if you want to use ART.

I dont understand what you are talking about. You cant theme the stock battery icon in KK. Even Theme engine or xposed couldnt do that so far.
Only you can get that Ring style battery or the stock one and not like earlier android versions.
"The battery signal of statusbar on KitKat Firmware is not images but coded one.
That is one of Google's operations in Android 4.4, but make difficulties with theming or customising.
So I modified it back to images to be possible for the methods that you have used on Android 4.3"
