Guys what are the odds of stock android rom hacked on to the Sammy Charge???
Wondering what others are thinking?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
The odds are better than the odds that you took time to read the Development board where there are 2 ROMs available
and most likely a 3rd one soon by the dev that did the Liberty ROM the Tesla ROM.....
But if all you care about is this CM ROM; go get something else.
I'm sure there will be one eventually, but if you want it within the next month, I'd look elsewhere, as there are no guarantees as to when it will come or how functional it will be.
Lol @ Shotgunsams great response.

@shotgunsam...... Ummmm roms available. There all spruced up TouchWiz tweaks.
I am meaning a true Rom not built ontop of touchwiz.
Either i was looking for hope of one. Since the fascinate never got one.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Uh, did you read the descriptions of the ROMs? DroidXCon gives you LauncherPro, other launchers soon to come, and imnuts has a streamlined ROM with the default AOSP launcher. Both completely remove TW launcher, according to the descriptions.
I too would love to see CM7 for this device. But the fact is, there are a few great ROM's available already, which is incredible considering the phone has only been out for two weeks! I really appreciate the hard work of the devs, and can't wait to see what's available in the coming weeks.
I got the DI when it first came out. First it was when will it get root. Root was a ***** becasue it was so random it worked with some sd cards and some it did not. There were methods of clicking your sd card in and out which actually worked for me. Not a day latter everyone was *****ing about roms. When will we get this or that rom. Look at almost 1 year later and there are crazy amount of roms. It takes time be patient and look forward to what is coming. Crap I am typing this and I don't even get my charge till tuesday. I hate touchwiz I will root, rom, replace launcher with one of my choosing. If I hate something will just get another phone 6 8 months down the road but really not concerned about it at this point. I think in time it will be like every other phone tons of awesome roms from great developers. Liberty was one of if not the best roms for the droidx which I own. Just knowing they same people that worked on that rom is doing stuff for charge has me stoked.
Guys im not knockin the devs. But everything is built off TOUCHWIZ just cause you get rid of the launcher its still touchwiz under the hood.
The fascinate never had a locked bootloader either and noone ever got a stock android rom working. So i was just asking if it would be possible here. Anyways no biggie....

No way of saying will it get cwm7 or not. I will say the Droid x has a locked boot loader but Liberty rom was amazing. They put a ton of details and tweeks so that you could change things they way you want. As much as you could anyways with a locked boot loader. The developers of that rom did a great job with what they had to work with. Now if they are dev for this phone and it is fully unlocked. Wow no dobut will they put out a awesome rom for it. Now I have every intention to installing the best roms out for this phone when I get it tuesday. Developers deserve not only our thanks but donations as well. Thank you guys that put in all the hard work making our phones run crazy cool.
Unlike other skins tw is small and really is easy to remove. I've deleted alot and it still is functioning. Sense roms=200MB touchwiz=100MB and idk about blur

Do you know why the fascinate still doesn't have a fully functional cm7? Samsung code. And lack of true full source... This too is a samsung device...

Well Samsung released the kernel source pretty much immediately didn't they? Also didn't Samsung say they were going to be better about releasing that kind of stuff, and also keeping bootloaders more open? So this could be a real possibility. Although if you know what your removing, I would assume like HTC Sense, you can pretty much take a TW based rom and completely remove TW and have it work fine.

You do know that the Fascinate is knocking on the door to get full CM7 support don't you? Honestly, if you didn't like the Fascinate, you won't like the Charge, and based on your posts here, I don't think you ever like any android phone as they all seem to have one problem or another.

The reason the download is so big is that Samsung didn't clean out the kernel source tree after building, and tar'd up the source files as well as the built binaries (and all the other generated files). After you download, do "make distclean" and you'll save yourself some space and get rid of the useless files.

Apparently a lot of people are having trouble understanding the question. lol
I been wondering the same thing though. I have a good feeling about CM getting on bored eventually, it's what I'm looking foreward to the most with this phone. I miss having my notification bar on the bottom of my phone like I did with my D'Inc... lol
The only reason I say I "think" that it has a good chance getting CM support is because it seems, besides the Fascinate, they have been doing a great job cracking down on Samsung phones lately in the past few months. Besides the more phone supported by them, the better and the more recongnition they get. Until then ADW Ex is working fine for me.
Shout out to CM for all the awesome hard work.

Coming from the original Incredible (CDMA) Rooting and ROMing was a breeze and also received CM support pretty quickly. If anything, I would think that the 4G radio would be the hardest work around. You never know though.
Shout out to the plasma ROM it has made my s3 sic. So thanks to Phil and all the people who helped make this ROM. Once I turned off ripple effect I've had 0 problems. its a lot like stock in some ways but it is merge of the galaxy s3 and the note 2 4.1.1 and 4.1.2. it has a lot of the note 2 features like the multi window and the ink on the lock screen. also it has the floating keyboard in multi window mode. you should give it a try it has the choice of the stock kernal or the custom kernal when you install it. its pretty awesome...its my daily driver...

Unlike previous phones, I haven't done much with custom ROMs on the S3, mostly because after de-bloating, I don't mind the stock install overmuch.
That pretty much changed for me when andybones released BoneStock. So far, I'm loving it! Enough to try to get my post count up for the first time in the 2+ years that I've been reading and lurking around here just so I can post in the Dev thread for it...

Thank you so much! This really means a lot. This is exactly what I was striving for when I released the ROM, something that is absolutely stock, but with the options in Aroma of just what is wanted, along with very light theming nothing overtop, and that's also how I wanted to go about the MODs as well. I did not want to over load it with stuff people don't' use or want so Aroma proved to be the perfect solution, although my scripting was zero at first and quite challenging but much like anything with Android for me, spend some time with it and fell in love.
Oh and please feel free to post in any of my threads to get your post count up, just post like , "good job" or something.

I just bought a Nexus 5 and I was wondering which is better: CM11 nightlies or just having rooted stock FW ..
Which one is faster? (bootup time, app launch times, smoothness)
And am I really missing any features when staying stock?

I flashed just about everything and settled on stock. cm11, purity ROM, sanity, slim, you name it. Stock with xposed is great. On any custom ROM, I lost LTE and still don't know why. Gravitybox is just about the same as running a custom ROM, too.

I dont see much of a point in owning a nexus if you are just gonna throw Cyanogenmod on it.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I would probably stick with stock if I didn't require voice+ app by cyanogenmod. Until hangouts come with full Google voice number support sticking with CM11.
CM11 really isn't that buggy with current nightly, it's incredibly stable. Also the fact that it's a continuous work in progress is plus. You never know when stock gets updates.
Other than that I would use paranoid android when that comes out or pacman.

Or like any other Android phone. Almost every major Android phone has Cyanogenmod ported to it. I don't personally understand the appeal of buying a Nexus phone to then throw on the same custom rom that you could run on literally any other Android phone. I guess if you are off contract and absolutely love Cyanogenmod for some insane reason. . . . .
As said on a non nexus the cyanogen team really shine, to be honest I'm loving cataclysm ROM at the minute. Close to stock but has just enough customisations for me

You're talking about 2-3 days here. If that worried about it, go back to stock until CM updates. That's what I did for 4.4.3. I was already in bootloader flashing the new modem, so figured I'd just flash the rest.

Hello all,
I hope your devices are treating you well.
I currently have a Nexus 4, which the support for is slowly dying. Therefore, I need to buy a new well supported phone.
First off, I really like the Mi 4C. However, I fear that it will become obsolete and follow the N4's fate really soon. Is that true?
Second, when I got the N4, I realized that there were some issues that people didn't speak much about such as noise while in phonecalls because of the proximity sensor and some headset buttons not working. Are there any similar - or untold - problems like that?
Finally, some rumors are popping out about the Mi5, do you think its worth the wait?
Any and all answers are appreciated. Thank you.
IMO if you really like vanilla android, fast updates and vast amount of custom ROMs, you will probably gonna miss that on Xiaomi's phone
My last phone was Moto G first gen and my first impression after moving to Xiaomi (MIUI) is that some features from vanilla android are missing on MIUI. I really missed that on the first couple of weeks but I learn to live without that for a few more weeks, had enough and switched to CM12 ROMs
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the hardware. It's just I didn't really like MIUI
I think you should try MIUI first to see if you like it or not and you can always use custom ROMs if you want.

Little things like expanding notifications on the lock screen without pulling notification drawer, task switcher design, inconsistent notification color and overall UI experience is less polished than vanilla android.
It looks like a minor thing but once it's gone I really missed that.
Well MIUI isn't so bad, just a bit different and needs time to get used to. The device seems the best 5' vfm right now. Upon release of kernel sources I'm sure it will get proper dev support too.
Thanks for all your answers.
The way I understand it now is that the device doesn't have proper dev support due to the lack of an open source kernel. Was the release of this kernel a rumor or was it confirmed?
Also, can you guys please answer me about the wait for Mi 5 and the device's hardware issues?
Thanks again

4c is probably the best bang for buck phone you can get now, great specs incl ir blaster, great camera, loud speaker although mono. Only thing keeping it back is kernel sources but that hasn't stopped 2 different cm roms coming on it.
I also came from a Nexus 4 and this is a great upgrade and I expect it have support for 3 years at least.
Mi5 will be great phone with flagship specs so at least wait for the official reveal and prices. If I were in your position I'd probably lean towards the mi5
I just got this Mi-4c a few days ago from a friend. Honestly, I love MIUI. I used to have a ROM with it on my old Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile. I think it's amazing with the themes. Pair in different fonts and live wallpapers and I'm in love.
I currently use an iPhone 6s as my primary, have a Note 3 for media, a BlackBerry Z10 just because and a Lumia 640 for the same reason.

I'm using stock MIUI 7. Luckily I'm pretty familiar with the layout, so I can navigate easily even though everything is in Chinese. I figure if I want to modify, I can always do it. For now though, I'm enjoying it the way it came.
Only thing I've done is get the Playstore and the Google installer. Besides that, I liked the phone as it came.

Yes, it is a pretty neat phone. I actually like MIUI, more than I thought. But it bugs me, that I can't set the DPI. That's actually the only thin preventing me from using MIUI. Also, I can't seem to be able to download Theme or anything from the MI Store.
Did you check if you had any malware installed when you got it? Mine was infected when I got it. I just bought one for my significant other, got it today, and found out that it too was infected, had TWRP installed and Xiaomi.eu as ROM. :silly:

You can manually chnange the DPI:
1) Install a terminal emulator
2) Type in "su" and grant Superuser rights
3) Type in "wm density YOURDPI"
4) Reboot.
Just replace YOURDPI with the dpi you want, for example 380.
Horizontal multi-multitasking they way they do it sux. Just give me lollipop carousel and MIUI is everything iOS should be but never will be.
XDA have posted many blog posts about this phone and are running competitions so I assumed it would have a good development scene, however these forums seem quite dry in that there aren't many ROMs. Is this likely to pick up? Or am I best off getting a different phone with a better development scene?
Thanks in Advance
There aren't any ROMs that I know of and although TWRP finally got a port to FRD officially in the past day or two I haven't seen anyone with the FRD-L07 (US version) report using it. People had bootloop issues installing SuperSU to the L04 in the past and the then current version of TWRP couldn't make a system backup either.
The Honor 8 is a really nice phone, but I would wait and see what happens if you're thinking of buying one with flashing/tinkering on mind.
Only get this device if you are willing to jump in and help. As there is almost nothing and no one is really interested. I am saving up for the device but it won't be for like 8 months or more before I get it. I understand there will most likely be nothing so I am looking at it as a challenge.

If you want to buy it now, I would say no. If you're looking for the medium/long run then probably yes. Development is just starting.

This is one of those devices that there really is no waiting. Either the owners all jump in and figure it out or there won't be one.

I think it has to do with sales (community size) and official support (source code and guidance).
That's what made the nexus so widely developed.

XDA have posted many blog posts about this phone and are running competitions so I assumed it would have a good development scene, however these forums seem quite dry in that there aren't many ROMs. Is this likely to pick up? Or am I best off getting a different phone with a better development scene?
Thanks in Advance

Get a best phone with good development. As of now H8 is a born baby and is not good at development. MI is better in development compared to Honor.
Until someone can prove me otherwise Nexus devices still enjoy the biggest and diverse (in terms of different ROM flavours and different apps) community.

That obviously is because XDA is whoring itself out to Huawei and getting a ton of money for marketing the device for them.

Would you blame them? I wouldn't.
All true. But I have to admit, this is still a bad ass phone.

Even more badass if a CM ROM is made.
