[Q] my MOTO G screen got shattered - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my MOTO g got shattered .... kindly help ... the inner lcd screen is working fine with gud response but screen looks dirty ... i contacted local moto g service center and they said that it might take 5500(INR) ... and told that they do not hav warranty for phisical damage ... is it true ?? i read in other thread that ppl r getting replacement (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544374) ... could u plz help me out guys ?? i hav also attached an image of my phone ..plz check it out

No such replacements that I know of, physical damage is never covered under warranty. As they are already quoting a price for that, you don't have any choice. In the beginnin, they might replace phones due to no parts availability but I highly doubt that is going to happen here. You can try calling other service centers though i highly doubt they would do anything about it.

Xoom Digitizer Replacement?

Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced digitizer? I dropped my Xoom today and I've got a crack along the right edge. The only ones I have been able to find via googling are either ridiculously expensive ($250+) or the web site looks shady...
+1 im looking for motorola xoom glass @ digitizer replacement also...
Contact Motorola directly, they have a repair and replacement program.
Nobody thinks of this?

yes, but if they don't live in the usa it could be complicated/not the best solution... so the question still relevant.
I doubt there is no service/office of Motorola where you live. Remember that the guarantee applies to Motorola's worldwide, I asked here in Bulgaria, and I have warranty, even though I've purchased from the states. They checked my serial number and immediately went there warranty... when and by whom it was bought, how long is the warranty, etc.
I thought xoom have gorilla glass it was supposedly would not break
there is no motorola xoom support in Malaysia yet...and warranty doesnt cover lens @ digitizer...i've talk to motorola support service in US,they need US address to recive or send the item...repair the lens cost $199...its a lot amount because im a student...
what the model of the digitizer...i know its corning gorilla glass...but i need the serial number cause im searching on the web and im find this info
www.isuppli.com/Teardowns/News/Pages/XOOMBOM-Totals-$359-92-IHS-iSuppli-Teardown-Reveals.aspx
but i dont know what are the digitizer model?
can someone tell me what the digitizer model?
thanks
sory bout my english
I don't think there are student discounts for physical damage

Hi,
I approached the TVS E-Sevicetec, which is the authorised HTC Service Center in India last week for the same thing along with the batery replacement of my vox. The guy quoted a whopping 3300/- INR for full body replacement and 1700/- INR for frontal body replacement. He also personally suggested me not to replace the body merely because the mmc and usb rubber covers are damaged (Thats so strange you see, you dont get those seperately. Those 2 things are as small as ****, and you need to replace the whole goddamned body for that).
In my personal opinion, I'd suggest you carry on with the phone without any further investment as long as it works. The replacement parts are extremely costly and isnt readily available even at the service center. My vox's battery took 27days to arrive after placeing an order.
Regards,
Akash.

[Q] HTC Sensation LCD Screen replacement

Hi,
Doe anyone know how much do the HTC charges for replacing the LCD of HTC Sensation in UK? I have asked them but they dont reveal upfront and asked me to send the handset to be examined by technician, then they will send me a quote and if i dont want to go further they will charge me £25 to send the handset back.
also pl. let me know if there are any cheap repair centers in UK?
Thanks

I had a broken LCD on my sensation, After looking through many sites, i got an approx repair charge of around £150 - £180 via HTC repairs.
There are some local repair shops that will do it for around £50 - £80... Which is a massive saving...But there is a chance they could cause more damage because its a tricky job and they are not qualified HTC repairmen so if it goes wrong...Bad luck I also doubt they will be using genuine HTC parts so that too could affect performance.
There are DIY Kits on ebay for around £60 delivered if you feel capable of doing it yourself. These adverts state they ARE genuine HTC parts.
There are several how-to videos on youtube so if you feel confident and have a steady hand and patience.... this would be best option.
Otherwise you could try to claim on some sort of insurance if you have it...
Finally, I dont recommend this but ive heard it works Take a picture of a NON broken HTC screen, And a picture of Your back showing YOUR IMEI no. then send it off for repair due to some bull**** excuse..
When it comes back, blame the broken screen on them, And show them the pictures you took saying 'this is how it looked before i sent it for repair'
Like i said,, Thats NOT recommended and the guilt shall haunt you forever !!!!

All versions have same physical dimensions so u dnt have to worry about them not fitting.. U can buy any version..of z3 back plate..
Thanks unmaskedfalesh for replying
Will I lose my warranty if I replace it my self or let some replace it for me ?
And the water resistance, will it be gone ?
I also found items that come with NFC chip which is more expensive, If my NFC is working now with the broken glass will I lose it with the replace of the broken glass with new one that doesn't come with NFC chip?
Since they refused to fix it under warranty, at this point I would assume it is void (physical damage) so it does not matter where you get it done.

As far as i know the nfc chip is glued to the back plate so u can easily..take it out and stick to ur new back plate...
Yes warranty is void..and also as another member quoted they refused to repair so u dnt have to bother about warranty being void..imo
If u stick the cover properly u will retain ur water resistant feature dont worry..the cover comes with glue..band that u have to stick very carefully... If u need a tutorial there is one on youtube feel free to ask the link if u cannot find out..
U can check the video and make up ur mind whether u can do it or get it done on a repair shop!!!
Gud luck

Screen damaged / chipped

Hey guys,
just noticed that my screen is damaged. Bought the device the 23th May. Can someone relate to?
They say they can't replace the device because I'm contacting after the replacmente period.
Well, I just noticed because I was replacing screen protector. Bullsh*
Unfortunate, but if you didn't notice it for 4 weeks I can't see there's a lot you can do.

Now I will send it for repair
looks like to me this is not the screen maybe but the a thin polymer bezel that holds the screen in the frame?
cheers
If you didn't notice something like that in 4 weeks then it must've not been there when the phone came so it's probably your fault. They tend to want to replace the screen in cases like this and ask for a ton of $$$, so imo you should keep it like that if they say that.

That doesn't look like the screen in the picture. It looks like the housing that is chipped. If I'm seeing it correctly that would be hard for you to do yourself. It should be covered under warranty in my opinion.

Yes you're right. I didn't explain myself correctly. I already chatted with them and explained. Monday or Tuesday they'll pick up the phone.
From now on, I'll check carefully every smartphone.
Buy the screen protection plan and then get it replaced or go through squaretrade, in the US OnePlus screen replacement is like 165.00, but for a little chip I don't think it's worth it.

I bought the screen protection plan. But as insomnia77 said and I agree, it's not the screen that's damaged. It's the housing. Must be production problem.
Not trying to be funny buy you DID remove the original screen protector that's pre-applied? Only asking cos that looks like bubbles under a protector?
Never mind, just noticed the chip. That's bad, did you give it a healthy drop?

Lol. No I didn't drop the phone once so far.
And yes, I was applying a new screen protector, after using tempered glass but didn't like it because of the bad accuracy of FP. Luckely I replaced the screen protector so I could notice the damage.

UPDATE
So that's what I got as answer from Oneplus:
"Thank you for contacting OnePlus Customer Support.
We apologies any inconvenience caused due to this. We understand your concern regarding the delay in repair for your device and this is the far opposite of what we want our customers to experience. Please note that we can do replacements only if the device is within 15 days return/replacement period and damages upon arrival has to be reported within 72 hours. Upon checking with your repair request we have found that it is pending for the spare parts to be arrived. Once the service center has received the spare parts then the device will be repaired and released as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding!
Please let us know if you have any other concerns.

I think this is a "cheap" after sales service.

If it takes too long ask for help on the official OnePlus forums. I've seen them escalate cases. If they don't have the part I would insist on a new replacement.
