Hi,
Doe anyone know how much do the HTC charges for replacing the LCD of HTC Sensation in UK? I have asked them but they dont reveal upfront and asked me to send the handset to be examined by technician, then they will send me a quote and if i dont want to go further they will charge me £25 to send the handset back.
also pl. let me know if there are any cheap repair centers in UK?
Thanks

I had a broken LCD on my sensation, After looking through many sites, i got an approx repair charge of around £150 - £180 via HTC repairs.
There are some local repair shops that will do it for around £50 - £80... Which is a massive saving...But there is a chance they could cause more damage because its a tricky job and they are not qualified HTC repairmen so if it goes wrong...Bad luck I also doubt they will be using genuine HTC parts so that too could affect performance.
There are DIY Kits on ebay for around £60 delivered if you feel capable of doing it yourself. These adverts state they ARE genuine HTC parts.
There are several how-to videos on youtube so if you feel confident and have a steady hand and patience.... this would be best option.
Otherwise you could try to claim on some sort of insurance if you have it...
Finally, I dont recommend this but ive heard it works Take a picture of a NON broken HTC screen, And a picture of Your back showing YOUR IMEI no. then send it off for repair due to some bull**** excuse..
When it comes back, blame the broken screen on them, And show them the pictures you took saying 'this is how it looked before i sent it for repair'
Like i said,, Thats NOT recommended and the guilt shall haunt you forever !!!!

MY HTC Desire HD sim cover crack when I use it at first day. It is too soft and so fragile. I go to HTC Care center (Singapore) and ask for service, they quote me 100 SGD(76 USD). That is 12% of whole phone cost. That is ridiculous!!! That is not all of it. They request me to let them have the phone for 3-5 days just to fix it. It is just a user replaceable cover. What a lousy service.

Watch on the american website, maybe they have some too !
Well there are two options:
You can glue the cover and put silicon cover the back of the phone and wait for Chinese ultra cheap parts
Or wait for the beginning of the January when it seems to me that a lot of shops will receive official spare parts. For instance here you can preorder it for 19 pounds:

my brother called HTC service and said his sim cover was loose. They noticed it as a incident and within a week he got a new sim cover with the mail for free. I'm living in the Netherlands.

Ya, look like I have to wait. Shipping fee from UK is too expensive. I live in Singapore. Look like HTC Singapore have the worst service. The reason they give is they not making profit from it. WTH.

Thats is a good reason, but I doubt HTC Singapore will do that.
Below is my support reply from htc :
Me: My HTC Desire HD sim card cover broken. It is so fragile, it made of soft plastic. It is my first day using it. How I suppose to get a new cover?
HTC : Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, we would suggest you to back up all your data first and bring your phone with the receipt to our care center in Singapore for servicing. Our engineer will help you to check and fix your phone.
Me : I go to singapore care centre and ask for help. They say comestic issues is not cover by htc. The charges for replace a small plastic cover is 100 sin dollar, which is 12% of a new phone cost. That is ridiculous. And worst case more they need to hold my phone for three to five days just to replace a user replaceable part. I feel so frustrated with this kind of service. I like htc product so much but this had failed me.
HTC : We are really sorry to hear that. Hope you can get your phone fix asap.
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
We look forward to be of service to you again.
Me :That is the only replied you can give? That is not helpful at all!!!
It is too expensive for a small plastic cover!! And this had been know issues for many users. And other country users get the free replacement. How come Singapore users cannot get free replacement for that?
http://www.htcforums.com/desire-hd/6672-htc-desire-hd-*-replacement-sim-card-cover-*.html
HTC : Please understand that we are not trying to make profits by raising the price of the parts. All we will earn is the labor charge to pay the engineer. And due to the cause of the damage is not covered by our company's warranty statement (actually any mobile phone company will consider this situation as out of warranty case, I should say), it will be really difficult for us to provide any discount to you without a proper reason. We really hope that we can help to repair your phone and make it to be of service to you again, but still we have to take our budget into consideration.
We are quite sorry for any inconvenience it may cause and thank you for your consideration!
Me : I cannot understand. You mean labor charge for put on the cover??? You gonna be kidding??
HTC UK website is selling it at 32 Singapore Dollar and willing to ship to customer.
It is just a cover that anyone, even child know how to put back!

So far nothing? I broke my cover on the first day too =/
30 January on HTC's Website...
check on expansys.com.au -> $27-27 AUD
Probably we should lodge a complaint to HTC HQ..
I got a replacement phone this from my provider as my screen developed a fault.
Before the courier arrived I took the battery and sim cover off the old one as I knew they wouldn't notice. New phone arrived. Now I have a spare sim and battery cover.
If anyone is desperate pm me and we can sort something out.

Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced digitizer? I dropped my Xoom today and I've got a crack along the right edge. The only ones I have been able to find via googling are either ridiculously expensive ($250+) or the web site looks shady...
+1 im looking for motorola xoom glass @ digitizer replacement also...
Contact Motorola directly, they have a repair and replacement program.
Nobody thinks of this?

yes, but if they don't live in the usa it could be complicated/not the best solution... so the question still relevant.
I doubt there is no service/office of Motorola where you live. Remember that the guarantee applies to Motorola's worldwide, I asked here in Bulgaria, and I have warranty, even though I've purchased from the states. They checked my serial number and immediately went there warranty... when and by whom it was bought, how long is the warranty, etc.
I thought xoom have gorilla glass it was supposedly would not break
there is no motorola xoom support in Malaysia yet...and warranty doesnt cover lens @ digitizer...i've talk to motorola support service in US,they need US address to recive or send the item...repair the lens cost $199...its a lot amount because im a student...
what the model of the digitizer...i know its corning gorilla glass...but i need the serial number cause im searching on the web and im find this info
www.isuppli.com/Teardowns/News/Pages/XOOMBOM-Totals-$359-92-IHS-iSuppli-Teardown-Reveals.aspx
but i dont know what are the digitizer model?
can someone tell me what the digitizer model?
thanks
sory bout my english

Combination pack I believe
Ebay is definitely worth checking - here in the UK, i got a replacement battery cover for just under a fiver.
Depending on the age of your device, you could also try sending a polite email to HTC support. A while back, I sent them message about my SIM/SD cover being loose, and they sent me a replacement at no cost to me. Took about a fortnight.
Official pricing for these parts (I've seen upwards of £15) can be quite extortionate...

Thinking back, I remember submitting a polite request via their support webpage, stating that my SD/SIM cover wouldn't stay in place, and asked about obtaining a replacement. I didn't actually demand anything, and they just sent out a spare.

My desire hd back body is bend as it fell down. where can i buy back body and flash lid as they are damaged I came across full back body housing costs 28 us dollars and its chinese I think so. In some online websites they have stated as original and few as OEM, which one should I buy.
Here one local repair centre person said if we buy chinese they might not fit correctly/exactly here and there might buldge or wouldnt fit part in appropriate position, since its too costly can any one help me by suggesting to get correct one! thanks. am from India.
If it says OEM the quality will be good as the original.
I just bought SIM and battery doors OEM in few bucks and the quality is great
I bought replacement battery and sim cover cheap from Amazon

Hi,
I approached the TVS E-Sevicetec, which is the authorised HTC Service Center in India last week for the same thing along with the batery replacement of my vox. The guy quoted a whopping 3300/- INR for full body replacement and 1700/- INR for frontal body replacement. He also personally suggested me not to replace the body merely because the mmc and usb rubber covers are damaged (Thats so strange you see, you dont get those seperately. Those 2 things are as small as ****, and you need to replace the whole goddamned body for that).
In my personal opinion, I'd suggest you carry on with the phone without any further investment as long as it works. The replacement parts are extremely costly and isnt readily available even at the service center. My vox's battery took 27days to arrive after placeing an order.
Regards,
Akash.
Hi guys,
My htc fell in water, but I have dried it up. Now when I press the power key, the screen does not turn on. Then, when I press it again to supposedly off the screen, the screen turns on and off in 1second. So I can catch a glimpse of the lockscreen. So I was wondering, does anyone know why this is happening?
Is this a problem I can fix myself or should I bring it to a repair shop?
Any recommendation on a repair shop besides HTC. HTC did not even bother to look at my phone, they just saw the water indicator and said it would be $300-$500, which in fact, I know that it would not be that much.
So if anyone could help me, thanks.
I'll upload a youtube video so you guys can get a better understanding.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBVeprvekgY
Had the same accident on my wifes last Nokia, couldnt repair it myself and brought it to a repair shop. They told me to throw it away because the water sensor inside the phone reported the accident audn a repair would be as expensive a an equal ne phone. sorry mate, dont hope too much ...
I guess I shall just get a new phone, like an evo 3d or something. Thanks anyway
Or they can replace the parts that's been damaged. But i'm not sure if the repair costs more than buying a new phone.
I believes LCD internal circuit detect short and turns of lcd to prevent damage.
LCD may still have water inside or main board may have been damaged.
It is impossible to guess so repair tech must use parts from good phone and swap one by one to bad phone until bad part is found.
Most repair shop will not have ability to do this so they will charge minimum $200 ( average cost for them to buy phone) or they will assume LCD is defective and quote about $150. ( their charge for LCD replacement)
HTC just charges you phone refurb charge ( for customer not their cost)
I recommend sell on eBay for $150 and buy new(used phone) on Craigslist($200-$250).
I assume since you are asking this question you don't do many or any repair...if this is true...I highly suggest you keep it that way to prevent accidental and uneccesary damage
PM me and I can assist with repair/replacement

I was kinda hoping to fix it, but I guess I should go to HTC and ask them for an exact amount of price needed to fix this phone.
I doubt there's anymore water in the phone cause I have dried it for 3days in rice and even hair dryed it.
