Hi everyone. Just tried to use Greenify app(you can get it from Google Play Store) to extend battery life of my Optimus p500 working on KitKat ROM from ANdroid Development section. This app hibernates processes you want for example Google play servicess. In 6 hours battery went from 100% to 95%. So it is a good score. I used my phone to call for some 10 minutes in that 6 hours. No internet no wifi gps etc.
Best wishes Sial

I'll try that as soon as possible! I was really looking for an application that would turn off any task that I am not using, just to save battery life. Thanks!
Kind Regards,

I think that app made my battery life longer for real. But it is only hibernating services that are, how to say it, still in use and drain battery. If you want to kill some tasks you will probably need to try aps like RAM Manager. I am not shure so try Greenify and leave feedback here

I am using the stock Moto G ROM + Xposed and Gravity box + Faux @ 1.6gh/z, I have found this combination to provide an excellent and stable CM11 like experience.
In the CM11 forum thread, I have found several references to "Greenify". I have already installed the free version but found that this could only be used to gain a small amount of RAM.
For info, I currently have 21 running processes and there is approx 360 mb of free RAM.
I do see the possibility of gaining maybe an additional 200 mb of ram free if I use the Greenify paid version as it apparently can be used to hibernate system apps. I also understand that I can Greenify messaging apps such as Whatsapp, Skype, Viber yet they will continue to act as if they are running (ie. notifications etc), is this correct?
My question is this. If I can increase the free ram to say 550mb what will the phone gain from doing this? I mean, will I notice any real difference in the phones performance or Antutu performance etc. Also do the Greenify'd messaging app's notifications continue to work reliably?
I would be pleased to have your comments. I ask the above because the phone is working well and it is responsive and reliable. I don't want to add this app if there are any potential negative effects.

Greenify isn't much made to free ram but to prevent background processes to stay alive and drain performance/battery
And that's you, user, that choose which app to greenify so no worry about messaging if you didn't greenify it

@matmutant Boy - Thanks! that was a quick reply, I had just edited the 1st post when I already saw your reply. Ok, so its more battery saving orientated, I didn't realize that. Battery life is something I find hard to quantify. Certainly the Moto G is doing a lot better than my N4. My wife is using the Moto G and with average use she gets up to 48 hours of use, (she usually charges it every day but does forget sometimes).
I recently checked it and at that time found it was 20.5 hrs on battery, with 26% screen ontime (44 mins). Battery at 78%.
With Greenify I guess the only way to see the difference is to buy it and then check the battery status by measuring the drop in battery percentage over a fixed standby period over several days.
So its a good app right? It almost sounds like Greenify is modifying the processes to become more iPhone like in order to improve things. That's my angle anyway.
Yet another question. I decided to purchase Greenify. What I have found is that Greenify Gives me a choice when trying to Greenify system app's. ie. The message I get is "Sorry, system app is not safe to be greenified in general. Then the question "insist" or "cancel" I am afraid to try "insist"!
I am confused as to what I can really achieve with Greenify. I would appreciate some advice. He is a complete list of the processes currently running on the moto G. I would appreciate a short guideline as to what can and cannot be achieved with Greenify.

Hi Everyone,
I have been using Atrix 2 for past 2 years and never ever got such battery backup in last two years, so I thought of starting this thread so that others can get better battery life.
I have tried lots of tricks, apps, tweaks for better battery life but the following settings helped me to get more than 30 hours of backup on daily basis.
As I am writing this thread, my phone is on battery since 1 day 14 hours with 4 hours 6 mins screen on time, voice calls 1 hour 49 mins, wifi on 8 hours:laugh:!!!
I have noticed that Google Play services and Play store are the culprits behind the wakelocks that cause battery drain even when your phone is idle! So I decided to freeze them as per my convenience I unfreeze them and its been so easy thanks to Titanium Backups widget.
Just follow the below mentioned steps:
1.You must have a rooted phone.
2.Install Titanium Backup and Greenify (Greenify is used for hibernating the apps which stops them from running in background. Greenify the apps as per your need))
3. Convert Google play services to user app using TB.
4.Place a TB widget (Action widget) and select the action "Freeze/Defrost/Launch an app", select Google play services and you are done. Repeat the same process for Play store.(Note that you will not get any Gmail/FB notifications while freezed).
Now you can use the Google play services/ play store when needed, you have to just tap on the widget to freeze/unfreeze, and take my word you will be more than happy with battery backup you will get after doing these small tricks.
Enjoy!!!

I don't use gapps at all, I have noticed it is draining battery a very long time ago. Actually, any background app which uses the internet connection is a source of a trouble. WhatsApp is also eating battery like a hog. Ideally, there should be no background apps at all, except the system ones.
I use Greenify to freeze WhatsApp. So new messages are coming only when I open WhatsApp, like emails. This gives me extra 2-3 hours of battery time.

Have you tried this?

Greenify is probably one of the best apps for battery saving. It will get the most of your device and it will surely save you tons of battery life.
Greenify is created by the famous Android developers from “XDA developers”. The developers from this website are one of the best in the world and they received amazing critical acclaim from all around the world.
Back to Greenify. It is an app that has the capability to reduce the battery consumption on any Android device. Most of the manifucturers still haven’t found the correct solution for decreasing the battery consumption, most of their solutions work by automatically turning off Wi-Fi, GPS, reducing the brightness, etc. They don’t have meaningful effect on your device’s battery life.
Any Android device can do self-initiative and automatic checks about anything new in any application, especially when you install new apps or update them.
Facebook, EMail, Twitter, Google+, Whatsapp, Tango have processes that are constantly working in the background. On top of that, there are is also a great amount of software already installed by the manufacturer of the device (bloatware), as well as the provider whose services you use. Most of these applications are constantly open, consuming the phone’s resources (CPU, RAM), spending your 3G/4G internet, and they are biggest culprits for excessive daytime consumption of your battery.

The Greenify Donation add on is well worth the few dollars it costs as well. If you get the add on then go into the settings, it makes system app hibernation and deep hibernation options available for use. Greenify is the one app that truly saves battery without freezing or disabling the app. There is no performance loss or app failure when putting apps into hibernation. One thing to keep in mind is that it is regularly getting updated to accommodate new devices and Android updates. Always back up your current version because some updates may not auto hibernate as well as the previous version etc.
If you get Greenify and GSam with the paid add on you will be able to greatly reduce wasted battery drain and quickly identify wakelock services

What do you think about "Hibernation Manager "? What is better?
Hello all. So Android Systems is chewing my battery up. It goes from 12%-13%of overall usage. I can't tell which apps within the Android services area are responsible. I'm afraid to even use my phone for more than a quick text response or to see the time because the battery drains quick.
As you can see, my screen has been on only for about an hour the whole day. I keep it around 20%.
Use the pc version of wakelock detector , a bit cumbersome but at least it works. Android system is used by another app WLD will tell you which one

Hmm, alright. Is this app found in the play store?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=wakelock+detector
Android system will use more battery than screen if you run your phone for 8 hours and only use the screen for an hour because the Android system is doing things in the background that is using more than the amount of battery you're burning on your screen. Also you're on 4G which will hit battery a lot.
This useage looks absolutely normal to me.

I am on mobile so finding the link is hard but you can find WLD in the play store and instructions for the pc version are in the description, you will find in right here on xda.
I use like 150 apps installed in the phone.
Tried pie open beta(and also other custom roms) with kernels and other greenify apps but battery sticks with 5 to 6 screen on time.
I feel grateful if someone can help me getting the backup 7 or 7+.
I hear some guys are getting 8 and plus sot. I don't know how if everyone is using the same phone. I don't use phone for gaming. My usage involves with social media, YouTube, chats and 40 to 60 minutes using maps and gps.
Is it because of number of apps installed?
It's not about apps installed unless they keep the phone awake at all time, wish I don't think they do.
Unfortunately the best thing to do is just stop using social media lol.. Facebook and snapchat atleast.. Those apps are true battery killers.
If you feel like Facebook is really something you NEED in your life then skip the app and use the browser instead.
The other thing is making sure apps that you don't need notifications from is blocked from background usage in Battery, total usage, click the app you know you can block and select background usage, block
Last is managing the brightness, now there are times for full blast on the display and there is times for low light, don't let the screen blast your eyes if it's not needed to.

I agree... Facebook is a Hog. And they push you into using Facebook messenger as well... :-/
I use this... It's a pretty slick front-end for Facebook that uses little of the resources that the app does. It also let's you use messenger without installing it on mobile!

150 apps lol, how can you manage so much, I think just a simple browser can help you get rid of atleast 100 of them. I never understand the need of app which works on a site on a desktop. Just to keep track of your location and what you are searching online, these apps track you and kills your battery. Go smart, use no tracking browser like bromite and live the freedom.
Now for ROM part, I get the best battery with any OOS + elementalX kernel. None of the custom rom are better than OOS and yes don't forget to remove all Google apps and OnePlus apps, they track you.
Also install betterbatterystats to check what is killing your battery, I easily get upto 8 hrs. of sot if no pubg.
