There's a line across the screen when using my camera app...stock camera app...I'm on latest Paranoid with latest PA GApps and it just started today out of nowhere.
The line appears in every camera setting...Panorama, photosphere, Video etc. Anyone else ever see this? Any suggestions for a fix?
What I've tried...
1) Reflash ROM and GApps
2) Flash a different kernel
3) Start new (AKA clean flash)
NONE OF THESE HAVE WORKED
What I haven't tried...
1) Wiping the phone, locking the bootloader and starting over.
Any thoughts? Hardware issue? Thanks.

It's ONLY on the camera app right? Have you tried another app? If it does then it's a hardware problem.
when taking the photo and viewing it what does it look like? line through it?

Thank you for the responses guys unfortunately its definitely a hardware issue...the line is there in every photo app and also there in gallery when viewing a photo I've just taken. I have a warranty replacement on the way to me.

I was wondering if there is a app or someone can make the screen get bright right before you take a pic with the front camera kinda how there is a "flashlight" app for phones that dont have a led light and use the screen brightness just wondering if this would work for night time pics
searched around could not find anything on this at all so sorry if it was answered
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
i doubt it will work since it is facing you and not the real camera
Well what i was thinking is you take a pic of yourself with the front camera that the screen will get bright white kinda like a flash but just making it as bright white the screen can get for a second to see yourself better at night

I agree. That's very similar to my Mac desktop. The screen flashes right before it takes a self portrait. I bet an app can be created, but the issue might be auto focus. The front cam isn't all that great with auto focus so when the screen flash it might show a white blur.

On my nexus s it does not focus with the front camera justs takes the pic as is, is it suppose to autofocus? Im on nightly #31
Anyone know who we can talk to, to get something working?

Just curious if anyone else is having thos problem. When I take a picture close up to something an click the screen for focus it gets really clear then goes back to blurry. I was wondering why my pics that were distant were blurry that's why I took a close up of my hand and it did that.

Did you happen to update to the latest OTA? I did and I started noticing that. Before the OTA, not so much.

I've not updated my phone via OTA. I'm running a custom rom and it's still blurry to me. Just like the OP described: ''It'll be clear for a second and than become blurry''
don't go too near. back-off bit by bit till you can get focus.
So far, One S has got best camera among Android phones. Even though they said it's same camera module as One X, I compared two of my friends' One X and find out that my One S works better in low-light condition.
Well when take a HTC Amaze lol and take pics as close as you want. I noticed the horrible camera bugs after ota I wish I would have never updated.

I have this problem too.
But sometimes i managed to get it to work but i'm not sure how i did it.
You might want to try putting the aspect ratio to 4:3, focus on something near, it still will not focus.
Then change back to 16:9, then try to focus on something near again, then it'll work.
Im not too sure if it'll work for everyone, but it works for me somehow.

Hello guys, is there anyone working on porting the galaxy s4 app for the Nexus 5?
I really love my Nexus 5, but the S4 camera app is way better! better pictures, better modes, I can take pictures while filming or I can press and hold the photo button and it takes 20 pictures in a few seconds... those are features that I miss in Nexus 5 camera app...
If there is any alternative, please comment below.. thanks!!!

Hi,
You can do that with the Nexus 5... At least with the stock camera app.

Can they even port the s4 camera onto the s4 aosp? Usually not.
Pretty sure you just press the screen when recording video to take a picture.
please don't post questions in general

For me you speak about two different things, take pictures while filming AND long press on shutter button to take 20 pictures in on time...

Search and you will find: Moto X Camera, LG Camera Port, Modified "Stock" Camera. I've only tried the modified stock one, and like it a lot.
Hey people,
I really like the new camera but I have one issue which really annoyes me.
I always use HDR, and in the previous camera when I enabled it it out would remember my selection and HDR was always the default setting, but now it always resets and I have to enable it almost every time I open the camera. Sometimes it stays on, didn't really understand why (even after closing the camera from recent apps). Is there a way to have HDR always enabled?
Mine persists even through a reboot. Try wiping data in the camera app.

i think those custom rom's can not have hdr+ active out of the box for closed source or something. i have seen a lot of posts about that already. you have to flash certain gapps first. look into the camera thread in general section.

how to can i restore it?

I have the n915fy version of note edge. When i turn on the camera, it take about 15 -30 secs for the auto focus to respond/start working. I upgraded to lollipop 5.0.1 few days after purchase but did not take note of this issue before upgrade. When i clear camera cache and data, the problem gets fixed for the first time of camera use but problem comes back after first use of camera. What could be the cause and what is the suggested solutions.
Same problem here, not fixed yet. I noticed that autofocusing is instant if the phone is very hot...

Rightly said, i guess its a hardware issue, since updates did not fix it. The only way i get quicker focus is by tapping the phone close to the lens. Could be weird sometimes.
