Nexus S FFC flash???? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if there is a app or someone can make the screen get bright right before you take a pic with the front camera kinda how there is a "flashlight" app for phones that dont have a led light and use the screen brightness just wondering if this would work for night time pics
searched around could not find anything on this at all so sorry if it was answered

i doubt it will work since it is facing you and not the real camera

Well what i was thinking is you take a pic of yourself with the front camera that the screen will get bright white kinda like a flash but just making it as bright white the screen can get for a second to see yourself better at night

I agree. That's very similar to my Mac desktop. The screen flashes right before it takes a self portrait. I bet an app can be created, but the issue might be auto focus. The front cam isn't all that great with auto focus so when the screen flash it might show a white blur.

On my nexus s it does not focus with the front camera justs takes the pic as is, is it suppose to autofocus? Im on nightly #31
Anyone know who we can talk to, to get something working?

Blueish tint?

I have a ever so slight blueish tint to my screen noticeably on the whites unless I turn the brightness up. Anyone else have that? I heard it goes away within a few months.
EDIT: I notice the tint the most when I have it on auto brightness with KB5.
Strange, I have never had that issue. In fact one of my favorite things about this phone is the kickass screen. Mine has been flawless with amazing clarity. Maybe you got a defective phone. Bring it back and exchange it if it's that noticeable.

Well I got it refurbished for 50$ so I cant complain. I heard it goes away with time even. I dont even think I am on contract because I am on flexpay too.
It's your screen. It should go away after a bit of use, mine did the same thing when I bought it. I run on max brightness most of the time though, might have something to do with it going away, I don't know.

Max brightness? And I need a way to turn this damn 4g off it kills my frickin battery. Can you test it out on the auto brightness to see if the blueish tint is still there?
This is normal super amoled screens have an ever so slight blue tint to them, the thing is that i cant even notice it at all while using it unless im using another phone like my iphone side by side with it so i was wondering just how noticible is it?

Someone who doesn't own the phone probably wouldn't notice. I can't see it right now.

maybe that's the reason amoled screens look better in bright sun light.

I cant but its like streeks of lines it almost look like a school of dead pixels but only can be seen on low lighting. im taking it back
I think he's talking about the vertical lines of lower brightness you can see when the screen is dim especially in the gray. I think that's a problem with all plus displays.

I switched back to oggs2 no screen issue... I tried.

It's a known issue with the T-Mobile GS2 that also affects the Skyrocket.
Mine has it also. Most or all have it to some degree.
To see it best, just set your display to about 1/3 brightness and then drop down the notification bar and look at the lower solid grey portion. You'll see the verticle lines/haziness.
I had the same issue with my Atrix but I haven't seen it yet with my G2S.
Maybe it's a quality issue. I've had my Skyrocket for a few days now and didn't notice a single problem with the screen. I was aware of this issue with the T-mobile version so when I switched my OGS2 to the Skyrocket I kept checking for this screen problem. On the other hand my office mate bought a Skyrocket and he noticed the problem that the OP was having. He returned it the next day, got a new one and no problem since.
I am guessing the reason this effects the T-Mobile version and this one is due to the stretching of the screen to 4.5" and staying at a resolution of 800X480.

[Q] Camera issues

Hello.
Dec 2011 - Here are a few camera issues that I've been experiencing with my new SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 Galaxy S II Skyrocket using the provided camera/video app:
Issue #1: Indoor photos.
Photos taken indoors (in "normal" lighting) typically look very dark. If the flash is engaged, the subject often appears with a blue tint.
Issue #2: MP4 playback audio/video issues.
After transferring video captures to my Windows 7 desktop pc (filetype is MP4), the video and audio are out of sync / not in sync / mis-aligned during playback. File size is a mere 30MB. This was true of Quicktime, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc.
Anyone else having a similar experience?
I've had the same issue with the camera my roomate experiences the same issue. I haven't had the issues with the video though. For my camera quick fix I downloaded Camera ZOOM FX yesterday and the picture quality seems much better. Hope that helps, but I'm hoping for a legitimate fix too...

If you are getting the blue photos you have a defective unit. I traded mine in and the new one takes much better pics...no blue tint

Has it been verified that it's a defective unit issue? I ask because I get the blue tint as well. Pictures also seem to come out dark in well lit areas. Alhough, the little widget size image priview it shows in the corner after the picture is taken looks correct, the image itself when viewed anywhere else looks dark.
I'm sure this as been answered 1000 times, but how might one go about restoring apps/data when switching to a new unit? If I make a copy of my rom, can I just flash it to the new unit?
Same issue Here.
When I frame a photo it looks fine, but after the picture is taken it looks dark.
I'll try another camera program like Camera Zoom FX.
I had the blue tint got a replacement and life's good.

Just curious if anyone else is having thos problem. When I take a picture close up to something an click the screen for focus it gets really clear then goes back to blurry. I was wondering why my pics that were distant were blurry that's why I took a close up of my hand and it did that.

I've not updated my phone via OTA. I'm running a custom rom and it's still blurry to me. Just like the OP described: ''It'll be clear for a second and than become blurry''
don't go too near. back-off bit by bit till you can get focus.
So far, One S has got best camera among Android phones. Even though they said it's same camera module as One X, I compared two of my friends' One X and find out that my One S works better in low-light condition.
Well when take a HTC Amaze lol and take pics as close as you want. I noticed the horrible camera bugs after ota I wish I would have never updated.

I have this problem too.
But sometimes i managed to get it to work but i'm not sure how i did it.
You might want to try putting the aspect ratio to 4:3, focus on something near, it still will not focus.
Then change back to 16:9, then try to focus on something near again, then it'll work.
Im not too sure if it'll work for everyone, but it works for me somehow.

Blurry pictures

So I'm just wondering... I've seen threads about this in multiple areas but i haven't seen a fix for it. Are there any solutions to the gs3 taking blurry pictures? Before you take the pictures they look fine but no matter what you do, when you take the picture they turn out blurry. I've gone through 4 s3's and they all have this problem. I've used multiple camera apps on different ROMs on all of them with the same result. Its very frustrating. On the front facing camera the pictures turn out absolutely horrendous. Pretty sure its a defect with the s3 in general.

Take a q-tip, clean the lens.

Maybe tap the screen and focus
I don't have that problem nor most of us so it's certainly not a defect.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Its not an issue with the lense. Its the actual picture after processing that turns out blurry. This is a picture of myself taken with the front facing camera. It did not look anywhere near this blurry before taking the picture.

Aosp camera isn't always the best and it looks like that, also because of lighting around.

I think the problem is you are stressing the Gorilla Glass. This is one of the best most abusive tests that I have seen performed to prove that Gorilla Glass is tough to break.
Just kidding, I personally don't see anything wrong with the picture considering it is not a DSLR and the fact that the lighting is horrible. A lot of factors go into taking a good picture besides just focusing on the subject.
Picture seems about right in a low light, being a front facing camera, and on a smartphone. You are not able to compare a true dedicated camera (for now).

Did you find a solution to the problem? I'm facing the same issue with my S4.
All I see is some smoothing from post processing. There's nothing wrong with that picture.
I think perhaps you don't realize that the front facing camera is not a good camera. It will not take quality photos like the rear facing camera.
The picture is blurry because the quality of the sensor. The post processed picture is simply smoothed to remove the pixelation from the low light/resolution.
