Lenovo n308 android all in one - Android General

Just purchased this device. It is a 19.5 inch hybrid tablet/desktop android computer running 4.2.2. It uses a Tegra 4 chip and has 2gb ram, 8gb emmc and a 320gb hard drive. I really like this device but one drawback is its 8gb emmc. I would like to move apps to the hdd. As far as I know the only way to do that is by rooting it. If anyone could assist me with this process I would greatly appreciate it.

Violating my JooJoo's warranty

I posted this over on Android Central but thought I'd give xda a shot as well. I'm looking to violate my joojoo's warranty and get rid of that horrible OS it has. That was the plan all along when buying it so I knew I was getting into some potential loss of $$$
I think it will be really nice with Android. I'm also thinking about giving Windows Embedded 7 a shot
Here is what I know so far about it:
Info from hack-a-day
Basic hardware is 1GB ram (1 slot)
2 mini PCIE slots
1 SSD (4gb)
3g sim slot (no card in it, want to put one in it)
Nvidia ION
Atom n270
Bluetooth
WiFi
Camera
Info from my tear down:

Motherboard has LPC80H on it. Not sure what this is
On motherboard there is a chip near sound ports with ALC289 on it. Guessing this is sound
Ordering a new SSD for playing with. Thinking 16 gig
Ordering more RAM. Thinking 4 gig
Can anyone help track down a the network card and what kind of chipset it has? I'm not very good at taking a serial number and finding the manufacturer.
Also with that mini sata/pci-e slot (looks just like the mini sata slots) do you think I could get a 2.5" laptop drive to run for my testing purposes?
Finally does anyone know if pulling this SSD will make it lose it's data? Is it DRAM based?
So once I get the hardware specs all set then my next step is actually installing/building an Android ROM. This is where I'm going to get pretty fuzzy. I've read the Android porting site, I'm comfortable with linux and some development but I've never done this before.
Who would be able to help guide me in the right directions?
porting android over to a brand new device is almost impossible (at the very least) e.g. drivers for your wifi card would have to be somehow made compatible which i believe is difficult. Otherwise we could easily build android for all devices.

[Q] Android tablet specs????

Hello,
I have a tablet GOClever TAB T75 and I have a strange caracteristics and specifications about it.
Android OS 4.0.3/4GB flash memory/512MB RAM
Hardware is:
Memory: 29F32G08CBACA [Micron Technology - MT] - 1pc on motherboard
RAM: HYNIX H5TQ2G83CFR - 2 pcs on motherboard
Correct me if I am wrong.
Flash memory some internet pages reports that is 4GB some 8GB.
For RAM I go straight to manufactor web site it's 2GB DDR3 ram module and tablet motherboard have 2pcs.
So my question is why Android OS showing only 4GB Flash memory (I think this is ROM - correct me if I am wrong) and 368MB ram (usable) and 512MB (total RAM) where on motherboard are 2pcs of HYNIX memory 4GB RAM?
Any advice and explanation?
Thank you
anyone????
Well what is your question?
If u got the tablet sold to you as a 4 GB. That is the whole system and storage total. Usually partitioned into 3 or 4 partitions.
Not really sure what u are asking, them Chinese tablets are made by about 100 different companies. Ram isn't removable if that is what your thinking

I'm kind of confused.
The tablet is 4Gb of internal storage and 512Mb of RAM. There's really nothing more to be said. Android is only showing that because that's what is there. If you got scammed that's another issue - but if it was sold to you as 4Gb flash memory and 512Mb RAM then that is what you do have.
Like ronedogg said, the 4Gb is all the internal memory, including space for your ROM (software that makes the tablet run). That's all there is to report because that's all there is.
The RAM might be "2 pieces" of 254Mb RAM. It's not 2Gb - even if you have a copy of a tablet that's supposed to have 2Gb RAM you do not have that, you have 512Mb RAM. Nobody is putting 2 pieces of 4Gb RAM in Android tablets - you only see that in Windows tablets that have Intel processors and tend to be very expensive. Did you pay over $1000USD for this tablet ? I hope not. :silly:
Your RAM is probably 2 modules of 254Mb RAM, if it's even "2 pieces" at all. Generally when reporting RAM they will tell you total RAM, not some number that you multiply, anyway.
Hello,
Thank you for informations. I payed less then 80USD for tablet (used - not new).
Even that tablet have 512MB ram when it's on Android shown Total Mem.: 368,36MB ram (used for OS around 150MB) so Free ram that I can use is only around 200MB (on stock rom).
So that's I am confused why have 512MB of ram and usable only 200MB. Or it's just SW blocked???
In attachment are specs for module.
Thank you
BR
Well, what is the Ram that is being used going toward? The system can take more than 150Mb from what I've read.
I don't know what you have specs for, but I'd be willing to bet my firstborn that it's not what is in your device. You could open the tablet up to confirm it yourself, but if it was sold as 512 and reports 512, why do you think it would be otherwise?

[Q] Tagital Tablet

I bought this tablet and it has turned out to be very very slow. Im not sure if its just the tablet of the rom. so I was thinking of looking for a custom rom, but I can't seem to find any. Here are the specs. Is this just a slow processor and a waste of my cash?
Where can I look or find the way to Root this tablet. I downloaded the app to check it and it says its not rooted. I like the rom, very bare, no bloatware.
Tagital MID Tablet
CPU: Boxchip A13 Cortex A8 1.0GHz ,GPU: Mali 400
OS: Google Android 4.2, RAM: 512MB DDR3
Internal storage capacity: 4GB, External storage 32GB
Tagital
Hi
Not sure if its rootable due to hardware constraints of hardware
Asked vender about hardware mentioned 400x800.
The slowness and key responses isn't a good sign.
When I try and store this text it boots the screen my guess
Very limited processor. ordered a refurbed tab3 better resolution
And processor.
I don't think a ROM can run on this tablet!
Sorry to say beings I bought a TX-9 .
This is the worst item I have ever used. Its like a very early Texas calculator
But slower response.
Another third world clone gone bad!!! Doug

Does anyone know where to buy an ASUS FonePad 8 16GB ROM & 2GB RAM?

I'm a contract IT worker and I carry a lot of things around, so combining my tablet and phone into one would be great. I currently use another 8" Tab and an LG G2 (along with my laptop, and other cables and external adapters for hard drives, etc) but I'd obviously like to consolidate both to the FonePad 8. However, I'm having a very hard time trying to locate the variation that has 2GB of RAM and was wondering if someone knew of a store that sold them either in the U.S. or directly out of Taiwan. I see a lot of 8GB ROM 1GB RAM versions on ebay, but that's it. My wife has the Lenovo S8-50 2GB RAM with similar specs to the Fonepad 8 and it runs fantastically with the BayTrail Atom. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

[Q] Is there a prefered good chainese tablet ?

Hi, first .Please forgive my poor english. I will do my best to explain my problem.
In my long searches on the net for a good decent price chinese tablet to use on my laptop side, I noticed that there is always something missing : If the ram is enough than it can not adress more than 16GB or 32GB, if it can, than there is no GPS, if there is, than the camera is crap and if it has more than three of the above it can cost a fortune. and I can go on for ever.
I am looking for good tablet that can act as a laptop Substitute\fill in, that has : 2GB ram preferably more on the 3GB or 4GB direction, can adress at least 64GB or 128GB memory card, and\or an external hard drive, 9.7 -10.5 inch screen size, all the usual input out ports : USB 3, hdmi, ext, BT ,wifi, 3g, if there can be dual boot OK, quad or octa core cpu, can be software upgradable (yes, this is an issue with some devices).
didnt find anything that came even close. and I am willing to spend around $480
Perhaps I daemand to much, and there is no device that can do most of what I want ?
I would very much appreciate any answer that can direct my in the right direction.
Thank you.
Y.
